Only the handheld lower shower worked. There is an overhead shower but no way to activate it. I thought maybe I was missing something but spoke to my friends who had another room and they had the same issue.
Also, could not lock the door when I was going to bed. The lock is misaligned with the slot it goes into. Ended up just propping a suitcase against the door and hoping for the best.

The air didn’t cool well so i left my window open which exposed me to street noise. No big deal. The bathroom smelled of sewage so I kept the bathroom door closed. THE TRUE HIGHLIGHT WAS EDWARD WHO WORKED THE FRONT DESK. I had traveled all day from northern italy to rome and i knew i was going to be late for check in. I warned Edward via WhatsApp and he so kindly stayed after check in was over and let me in. I was so exhausted and so very grateful that i didn’t have to struggle physically or mentally at check in. I am not sure i would have survived it without Edward.
He was always a phone call away to answer my questions. I really can not stress enough how he kindness improved my stay!

I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel. I specifically chose it because I was traveling solo and expected there to be someone available during the evening , but I later discovered that there wasn’t staff on site throughout the day. I also wasn’t informed in advance about the passcode needed to enter the hotel before 7 PM. I rushed from the train station and took a taxi to arrive before 7, only to find no one there at 6:45 PM. I was left buzzing repeatedly at the door with my luggage, having to turn off Wi-Fi to call them and use mobile data, which was very inconvenient.

Additionally, I was disappointed that my room did not have shampoo or conditioner, which is usually expected and was shown in the photos. The cup for toothpaste was also very dirty, which felt unhygienic. Overall, these issues made my stay frustrating and below the standard I expected.
I would like to add that the guy who I did finally get a hold of was very helpful so I was appreciative that he answered the phone

I cannot rate Trastavere Royal Suite highly enough. Had an incredible stay LOVED the trastavere neighborhood. SO many great places to explore. Eduardo was AWESOME. SO helpful and just really a lovely person. Great English as well. Our daughter is studying at JCU and this location was just perfect. Also easy to get to ask the major sites. Walkable, public transport (took to train and to/from coliseum) right there. Super market right there, good, coffee right there. It was the best! Plus our room had this sitting area that was like having another room. Close the curtains and I could get up early and work in the lovely window space while my husband slept soundly in pitch dark begging need. Would*definitely stay here again.

Excellent location and a beautiful place to stay once you find it. It’s really hard to find if you’re not familiar with the area or if you’ve never visited Rome. Maps will take you to the address spot, however there’s no signs or address numbers on the exterior structure that says Trastevere Royal Suites. You’re literally looking at two large wooden doors with a small call button on the inside door frame. The doors are between businesses which make it confusing. I called Ray and he was extremely helpful, making sure we got inside to where we needed to go. Once there, the place was beautiful and the staff were very helpful with explaining the keys and lights in our room. The safe didn’t work, but they quickly got it fixed and ready for use. The only other drawback would be the noise outside the room. The train runs right outside the windows throughout the night along with the bar and restaurants below. The location is excellent and within a 20-40 min walking distance to most anything you would want to visit.

Was our final stay upon returning to Rome. Location is great once you find it (no signage or anything and we walked around the building 2x before I looked for a picture of the door.

Checkin was a little chaotic. Didn't know what floor it was on. Debit/credit machine didn't work to pay the tourist tax.

But was fine otherwise. Room was clean. The property itself is like rooms in an apartment building. But we heard minimal from other guests.

Very easy to get around from location. Bus and tram stops 30 feet away.

For the price I would go back!

I only stayed for one night. The room was cute, but small. The shower drain was backed up and flooded the bathroom floor. The common area had a really foul smell...as if a rat had died in the walls. I wouldn't stay there again, but it was fine for the night before our trip home.

We enjoyed our stay at Trastavere Royal Suite. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and promptly cleaned every morning. The facilities are smaller with only 4 or 5 suites/rooms. It felt safe and was quiet, even situated on a busy street. They do not have staff on site all the time, so people should be aware of this. We did run out of toilet paper by day 3 and there was no one around to ask to restock.

This place is more an apartment with few private rooms. There’s no host or check-in after 7PM. We arrived at 6:50PM because our flight had a delay, no one was there. We finally had a distance check-in. The guy doesn’t speak english well and didn’t provide clear instructions. We ask for a taxi day after, he had to call someone. Elevator is not working well and it’s at the 2nd floor. Rooms are not isolated (they suggest not watching tv). Bed is not comfortable. Too expensive for what it is.

Boutique Hotel, conveniently located in Trastevere

This boutique hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to do. It was walking distance to the Vatican and to the Roman ruins across the Tiber River. There were many restaurants nearby, which made it nice to step out for a quick bite or leisurely dinner.

BEWARE: This place is a bait and switch scheme that they call a “royal suite” and sell you on the pictures but don’t tell you about the unbearable sewage smell that engulfs your entire room. It is unhealthy to stay here—even for 1 night.

We booked a 1-night stay before a flight out of Rome the next afternoon. Upon check in, we told them that we smelled an unbearable sewage smell (which was so strong that you could taste it). The hotel responded with full prior knowledge of the smell and offered nothing more than a suggestion to “close the bathroom door.” We did (and even stuffed towels under the door), and it got no better.

We had no choice but to leave the hotel at 11pm because we were getting headaches and nauseous. We sent a message to the hotel that we were leaving because of the smell and going to sleep on the airport floor instead. They promised that we would be “compensated” (because we quite literally were unable to stay in the room). However, in the weeks that followed, they ignored all further communications about a refund—including Expedia’s requests for them to issue a refund—which left us stuck paying in full for this sewer that we could not stay in overnight.

For what it’s worth, I’ve never left a bad review in my life. But this place should not be able to get away with this scam. If this review stops even one person from paying to stay in this unsafe and nauseating cesspool (or on the airport floor instead), it will be worth it.

It was nice to be in a convenient area to some of the larger historic attractions in Rome. There were quite a few restaurants nearby but most didn't open until 7 p.m. and having arrived later in the day (3 p.m.) we hadn't made any reservations. We were greeted when we arrived and the gentleman explained the coffee and tea were available and the room amenities. The bed was comfortable. The shower leaked all over the floor in the bathroom and judging by the water marks on the grout, it had happened before. There was no shower soap or shampoo provided. We were provided towels and bathing caps. In the morning there was no tea except one bag of green and no coffee available at all at 8:30 am.
We probably would not stay in this area of town again. We thought where we stayed on the other side of the river was much cleaner and less noisy. We also were not fans of the graffiti that seems to plague every building in this area.

The rooms and common area are very lovely and clean, worth booking this place for that reason alone but a few things to note if you’re a traveler: they do not actually have a reception that is staffed like the listing says. Our flight was delayed so we arrived around 5pm instead of 3pm like we thought we would and they made a pretty big deal about us being late and how inconvenient it was for them and how we should have messaged (mind you we were traveling and I don’t have service in Italy), we then ended up waiting outside for about 30mins to get in because no one was there to let us in and they were not responding to messages or calls. They also said because we came “late” (the site says check in is u til 7:30, we got there at 5) we needed to wait until 10am to check out so we could meet someone then to pay the tax, so we did and no one ever arrived. We also asked in advance if we would be able to store our bags the next day while we walked around and they said yes but when we were ready to checkout at 10am like they said, no one arrived to tell us how to get back in (you need two separate keys to get into the building) so we had to drag our bags with us which is horrible - if we had known this we would have canceled and booked another hotel with a real reception. But aside from the poor service, the rooms were lovely, clean, and it’s a nice area. 30min walk from the train station so make sure you have stored your bags or don’t have much to carry.

Nicely decorated but it ended there! This isn’t a hotel as indicated by Expedia. It’s a small apartment converted to guest rooms. There’s no signage and difficult to find. The only indication you’re in the right location is a 2cm paper label on the door buzzer. My friend is with local police and even he had trouble finding the property.
They required an arranged check-in time before arrival then failed to show up. We had to call and text several times and waited 45 minutes before a staff member finally appeared to let us in.
The “reception area” desk was located 1 meter from my assigned room door. The room entrance has an immediate step down without any warning so my first greeting was a sprained ankle. The air conditioner has no adjustment, on or off, your choice. There wasn’t s any blanket for the bed only a thin sheet. So, you can choose to open the window and sweat in the July heat of Rome or turn the air on and shiver under the sheet at night. The mattress is memory foam and uncomfortable from hot spots with the air conditioner off.
The bathroom smelled horrible like sewage. The rain shower didn’t work so only the hand wand was functional which is always fun washing your hair. At least there was plenty of hot water.
The tram passes the building on the street below that causes a harmonic buzzing in the walls like some hideous bass speakers from a amplified car stereo every 10 minutes. Expect a wake-up vibrator at 5am to start your day.

The person at the reception was amazing. Due to a death in the family I had to make a quick reservation the night before only to find out that unfortunately I made it made it for the following day. He was very helpful! Called Hotels.come to see if they could help me move to another facility bc I already paid BUY Hotels.com was very unfriendly and did not care. So He helped me make a brand new reservation thru another. I ll stay away from Hotels.com
The place has an elevator air cond and is impeccable. Too bad they were sold out the night I needed.

Royce who was our contact, was very nice and helpful. No one is at the desk after 7:30 p.m. I realize the building is old, but there is an odour and very strong odour in the halls. I also understand not changing towels daily, but maybe could be every other day rather than 3 days. I was ill while in Rome and sometimes had to leave my room later in the day. The bed was not made a couple days. I wish the sheets had been changed once. The toiletries are minimal. Tiniest piece of soap to wash with. Had to ask for toilet paper a couple times. The location was great!

Trastevere royal suite is in a great neighborhood . When we checked in we first met davida the manager . He was fantastic with a smooth check in. The rooms are extremely clean and absolutely beautiful . The bathrooms are roomy and beautiful . The one drawback was the free breakfast was 1 block away in a local restaurant . The royal suite has a great location with washers and dryers 1 block away and a nice local restaurant across the street. Great hotel ... Nice and very helpfull manager... The room we stayed in was spacious and very clean and modern with classic Italian accents. The bed was quite comfortable ( I think memory foam) and the bathroom very spacious. Large spacious rooms and bathrooms are very rare to find in Italy so if that is needed take note. This is located in Trastevere, Rome which has a great nightlife and is a 15 minute walking distance to just about any attraction.
Here is where the hotel stands out: the service. David was the person who checked us in and was the sweetest person! We were running a little late to check in (NOTE: You can only check into this property between 2pm and 7:30pm) as our train was delayed 45 minutes but I called and David was sweet in noting that he would wait a while longer. We ended up getting there before 7:30 and David came out right away to help with luggage. Also, big help from David is that he talked the cab driver into a lower fare. Cabs in Italy are a total ripoff. We knew that coming in. But David came outside because we were short 10 euro (because the cab should have cost WAYYYY less) and convinced the driver to take away the \"heavy traffic fee\" that he was claiming. I was super impressed with David and the hotel. We will definitely be back and we recommend to all who want to visit Rome.

We had the most wonderful time! It was definitely an unconventional hotel experience, but we felt like we were in a more local area. Delighted at our stay in this boutique hotel. Not a hotel in the conventional sense, as anticipated, but rather the middle level of a charming apartment building, that's been tastefully restored. On arrival just ring the bell at the main entrance door and reception will come down to let you in. There is a lift to accommodate 2 persons and luggage, once checked in a key for the main door allows entrance and departure at will. The reception staff had good English and were extremely helpful. The area is a perfect base to explore the Eternal City and well appointed with restaurants within easy walking distance. My preference is to walk everywhere but there are bus and tram stops nearby that can convey you to all the sights in just a matter of minutes. On a previous visit to Rome, I stayed near Piazza Venezia, it was good but very busy, Trastevere proved a wonderful alternative. The measure of any hotel lies with its ability to bring you back and I wouldn’t hesitate to make a return visit.

I expected a real hotel like the us, but when I got inside I was pleasantly surprised, I had to go outside to a.caffe for breakfast. But I considered it an exercise. I could not find some of my jewelry, and I emailed the hotel they found it Hopefully it will be mailed to me. It is very convenient to the public transportation,and restaurants.

Breakfast in nearby cafe was absolutely fine and we even returned there in the evening. Beautiful room, extremely clean and comfortable. We will stay there again if we return.

Great location & comfort.Hotel is not street level

Great location which is close to many walkable restaurants in Trastevere. The tram is right outside the hotel and can bring you into the touristy part of Rome, or down to the Trastevere station in the opposite direction to get to FCO airport. In terms of comfort, the rooms are big and the bed is awesome and has a Tempur-pedic like quality! Highly recommend. Just note that you won't be able to see a sign for the hotel on the streets, since it's on the second floor. Do check Google maps and then look up the directory on the door to ring the hotel.

Charged extra fees on arrival

Charged 90 euro to get sheets put on the second bed in the suite. There are two beds in the room - if you actually want to use both beds, the is a fee of 30 euro a night. We were only 2 people so the charge was not for an extra person. Expedia has refunded the 90 euro to me.

Top notch stay

My wife and I enjoyed 4 nights in this great hotel. Only five rooms within a very secure mansion block but decor, cleanliness of rooms and communal areas was excellent. Really friendly staff, lots of advice on restaurants and getting around Rome. Free Nespresso and some snacks in reception area. They arranged airport transfers in E class Mercedes for €50 each way; much better than a taxi. Location is perfect for getting around on foot, tram and bus with great restaurants within 5 mins walk.

Sweet place. Good value. Definitely go for room 103. Fantastic neighborhood, great location, close enough to everything in Rome but away from the crowds. Incredible choice for restaurants of all levels and budgets.

Great clean rooms in a fabolous location

It’s a fine small place in a great location with all of Rome being within walking distance. Plenty of fabulous small restaurants and bars and ice cream shops in the neighbourhood. I would be more than happy to stay in Trastevere Royal Suites again.

amazing staff and overall room

This suite was much better than I had expected it to be actually. The staff was very considerate and went beyond the basic needs (he came back with top restaurants and where to find the best currency exchange which was super helpful). I also felt very safe in the hotel with the security required to get in. The area also has a great night life with a lot of bars and restaurants. Absolutely would stay here again if I came back to Rome and highly recommend it.

Utterly Fantastic

Stayed for a week at Royal Suite. Livia is charming, friendly and very helpful. Room was serviced daily and the whole place is spotless. Trastevere is a lively district with many great restaurants and bars. All the main sites of Rome are within easy walking distance just across the Tiber but buses and trams also pass through Trastevere frequently. Would absolutely recommend.

Very Nice Boutique Hotel

This was a very nice boutique hotel were the service was excellent and the room was very nice and large for European standards. The room is 1 of 6 rooms and it is well decorated with nice furniture and amenities. The room was very neat with a comfortable bed with nice linens. Bathroom was large and the shower was a decent size with nice towels and toiletries. They had a sitting area outside the rooms for quests to enjoy free coffee and treats and was open 24 hours. Check in was different, hours were 2-8 and were strict on letting you check in early even though are room was ready at 10am. Overall I would recommend staying here for a short 1-3 night stay, it is not located for visiting the attractions of Rome.

I have stayed in Rome many times & I must say, this has been one of the best apartment/hotel I have stayed in! Walking distance to heart of Trastevere yet far enough not to disturb your sleep at night from the hussle & bussle of Trastevere.

The staff were exceptional! Met us outside on arrival & made us very welcome! Definitely a place I would stay again.

Nice hotel in a great location.

The hotel is in a nondescript building. I would not expect the beauty and charm of this hotel by the outside. The facility had a graceful charm, extremely clean and elegantly designed by the owner. I would highly recommend!

Rengøring ikke specielt god. Hår i bad og på gulv. Sengen dårlig og voldsomt meget larm både fra gade og andre gæster da alt er lydt til fællesrum og ind til de andre værelser.
Umuligt at have åbent vindue pga larm. Og selv med lukkede vinduer larmede det vildt meget

Good location but difficult to access staff

Good location near eg line 8. Our room was very spacious, even if the interior is slightly worn out. The negative part was that the availability of the personell is very limited, even less than than stated (3 - 6 pm). The problem we highlighted took therefore long time to solve and some was not solved at all. The linen was said to be changed after 3 days, but was not.
