What a fabulous place to stay. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was incredibly nice. The Residenza is centrally located in the Trastevere neighborhood within walking distances to attractions and great restaurants. Would definitely recommend and will stay here next time we visit Rome

We stayed in the studio apartment offered by RSC. The location was quiet, very walkable with dining close by. The studio is located in the Jewish quarter, not in Trastevere, like the hotel itself. The staff was so lovely to work with and made our stay wonderful. Nice intro to Rome.

My second time staying at Residenza San Calisto in Trastevere and personally I found this as one of the best places located very strategically in Rome, close to all major historical sites by walking distances and not too far from other places that require transportation, night life is unique, nice people’s from all over the globe enjoying beautiful restaurants and local bar, great vibe.
Hotel room was very clean, modern and spacious, tall ceilings, huge closets, large bathroom with all the standard amenities, extra room for your luggage and great staff service always ready to serve you.

The location was convenient, with vibrant dining and nightlife just steps away (although our room was so quiet, we didn't hear anything at all once we went to bed). We walked from the Residenza to a amazing Trastavere neighborhood each night for an authentic local experience.

When we stay again (and we will), I'll request a room towards the back of the property, only because patrons of the restaurants around the corner (it's reallly a great location) park their motorcycles nearby and leave around 2 am so it's a bit noisy. But it wouldn't stop me from staying here next time.

I had thought this lovely inn was more of a regular hotel with staff available most of the day and a breakfast available. I don't know if things changed after covid. We had given our arrival time which was right at the 2 PM check-in, but when we arrived it was locked up with just a note on the door with a phone number to call. We had been having difficulty with our phones on the trip and could not get through. I finally called Hotels.com 800 number and while they were trying to get in touch with the hotel, someone who occasionally worked there happened by. He told us there should have been an email that went out giving us a code for the outside gate and door, then telling us where we would find an envelope which would have inside it our room number and code for that door. No one was at the hotel until early the next morning for a few hours, the only time period anyone was ever there. The property is very charming with a great location. I went back through all my emails, and I did find it, so it had been sent. However, it was a very stressful 25- 30 minutes and at my age I think I need to start checking more carefully about availability of staff, at least check-in.

Italian Home Away from Home

I loved staying in the little studio apartment. It was very spacious and cozy and was like a little slice of Italian living. My stay was very short but would have been ideal for a long term stay. The kitchen was nice and well equipped, I was easily able to cook a few meals and save on food expenses. It was located within walking distance to everything, with restaurants and cafes right next door and plenty of markets nearby. I felt very safe and secure with the locked entrances, and it was very quiet, could never hear the street noise even with the windows open. The owner was very nice and gave me a tour, and when someone came to clean while I was sleeping upstairs they were very courteous and quiet and didn’t disturb me at all. The hotel staff were easy to communicate with through email and always answered my questions and helped me figure out how to get my covid test to return home. The drivers who took me to the apartment and back to the airport were great and very friendly. I especially enjoyed riding with Gianluca, he had some great stories and even though he had to pick me up at 4 in the morning he was very pleasant and got me back to the airport very quickly! For my first trip overseas and going solo, I felt very comfortable here and loved my stay. When I visit Rome again I will definitely be booking this apartment again! So much better than just another hotel room, 5 stars all around!!

The Residenza Calisto is very cozy, rustic and well located. I only had one problem, the mattress is very old. Slim and poor quality faith, I really do not understand how they can neglect such an important detaye. Otherwise excellent, I recommend it.

Perfectly situated for the sights of Rome

The stay was great, the personnel is efficient and extremely friendly and most helpful. The room was most comfortable and inviting. The small stain in service was that shampoo could have been re-supplied and that one of the accessories in a bathroom was in not a perfect condition. A little bit surprising was that the fresh orange juice promised in the ad at the breakfast room was not available one would have expected it at the place of such class and level of convenience. Otherwise, everything was beyond any reproach and I would certainly choose the same place for the next short stay.

We stayed in the one-bedroom apartment which was a lovely size and nicely fitted out. Great location close to the restaurants of Travestere and within walking distance (40 minutes or less) of most of the main sites in town. We didn't encounter staff much due to being in a separate building, but they were very helpful when we did. The only thing we'd say is that the kitchen was well fitted out, but would have been perfect with a few more utensils to allow for cooking, such as sharp knives. We were only there for a few days so hadn't planned to make proper meals (too many lovely restaurants), but for a longer stay that would have been appreciated.

But overall a great stay and we'd definitely return.

The street is a popular area but when you are in the apartment you can’t hear anything. Cristiana was extremely helpful and very accommodating and I would definitely stay here again. It was an impressive historical building and the apartment has been converted to a modern but still some historical features to it.

Lovely hotel with lovely staff. It's on a quiet street just blocks from all sorts of night life and restaurants, and a convenient walk or tram ride to the major historical sites, like the Colosseum or Forum. The room is large and spacious with an extra couch in the hallway so one of us could read while the other is in bed. The staff were very nice and helpful. The wifi worked great. The price was reasonable. And the rooms were really nicely done, in an understated way. We'd stay here again in a minute.

Great apartment, great location, totally charming!

Our apartment was not located in the main building of this hotel complex, but across the river and several blocks away. This was explained in an email sent to us, but we misunderstood and went to the main building. The receptionist was extremely helpful in assisting us to the actual location, but I should have read her email more carefully in the first place. Our apartment was ever so charming, a perfect mix of very old and modern with all conveniences. The kitchen even had ollive oil, balsamic vinegar and powdered coffee left by prior guests - how thoughtful! The kitchen, bath and beds were very clean and we enjoyed making eggs and toast for breakfast, using the olive oil. The location was excellent!! Lots of restaurants and small shops within a block and only two blocks to the Tibre River. We could walk to so many attractions! The WiFi worked with no problems. A totally delightful stay!

When we needed to get into the city, Tram 8 takes you right in. Love the hotel and the neighborhood. I also nominate this hotel with the best bathtub award. After a month on the road, that really means something.

A Great Place to Stay in the Trastevre Area of Rom

The Residenza San Calisto is a great B&B located in the trendy Trastevre area of Rome only a short distance from the Basilica de Santa Cecelia. This location is within walking distance of many of the major sites in Rome. When you travel, the location of your lodging is very important and the Residenza is very centrally located.

The room that we had was one of the larger B&B rooms that we stayed in during our trip in Italy. The B&B has 2 very comfortable public areas. One of them was in an outside covered patio area and it was very comfortable to sit there and read in the evening.

One thing that made the Residenza a pleasant place to stay was the hotel staff. They were very welcoming and they gave us good advice about where to go and where to eat in Rome.

Another important point for those of us who are a bit older is an absence of steps. Many Italian B&Bs in older building have steps up to the lobby from the street entrance and some do not have an elevator to your room. The Residenza has a street level lobby and also a elevator.

I would recommend the Residenza as a good place to stay if you want a comfortable place to stay in a neat area of Rome.

Home in Trastevere

Very obliging staff, comfortable large room and excellent access through digital keypad in front door. Located in a quiet pedestrian street. The only slight drawback to our room were that windows opened up into an internal courtyard resulting in issues of lack of privacy if we opened the blackout curtains. As we were mostly out and about in the three days, it wasn't a deal breaker.

The location is great the staff was great. The unit is cramped but the worst is there were a number of minor repairs neede that were very annoying. The toliet seat was broke and the kitchen facet was loose. There were a few other little loose items and broken fan was stored there. It’s an old flat with charm but the charm was lost due the lack of regular maintenance.

We loved this hotel, and I tend to be extremely picky about hotels. It's well-priced for its location, size of room, and quality. We'd stay here again.

Our room overlooked its inside courtyard which was the ONLY negative point because if people were talking in the courtyard, we could hear it in our room. This was never really a problem, though. There is also a sign asking people to lower their voices after 10 p.m. and respect the surrounding rooms.

Our room and bathroom were very spacious, especially for the price point. It was spotless! The bed was comfortable.

The continental breakfast was a good spread with scrambled eggs offered every morning, cheese, meats, cereals, and delicious fresh pastries. The coffee was to die for!

The neighborhood was lovely and we always felt safe.

We had a fabulous experience at the Residenza San Calisto! We stayed for 6 nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel was beautiful, clean and in the heart of Trastevere. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops. In addition, it was walking distance from the Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City...and most of Rome's city center. Also easily accessible via taxi and bus. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Lastly, the beds were SO comfortable which made for a restful night's sleep after a day packed full of sight seeing!

Large apartment for family

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment just next door to the main hotel. We easily went to the main hotel for breakfast- which was run by a wonderfully friendly lady and had a delicious spread of food options for our whole family.
The apartment was large as were the bathrooms. The beds were firm but comfortable. The location was good though there was noise outside quite late into the night as there are several bars in the area.
The hotel was easily walking distance to buses, bridges and the Circus Maximus.

Very nice little hotel in Trestevere

Very nice place in a great part of Rome. The room was very nice. The neighborhood is fabulous. Not \"touristy\", old and quaint, wonderful after dark when the streets are filled with small vendors, strolling people, entertainers and artists.
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Normally, I don't get the included breakfast, but we had it included this time. It was wel worth the money. They put out a very nice spread.

Lovely hotel in the medival quarter

Great small hotel in the Trastevere quarter. We stayed in one of the apartments next door which was very good, clean and with very comfortable beds. The hotel is situated at the centre of this beautiful medieval quarter close to a beautiful church and very good restaurants. Also 20 minutes walking distance from the Vatican, the Forum & Colesuum, and from the beautiful Navone Square. Definitely the place to stay with nice breakfast and coffee. Very nice staff.

Delightful apartment in the Jewish Ghetto

A very nice apartment in the Jewish Ghetto district of Rome. Great location for visiting all the sites on foot. Lots of bars and restaurants and the Travestere area a short walk over the river. The staff at the hotel that oversees this apartment were very good and very helpful. The wifi was excellent. The apartment was very nice. It was quiet inside and you wouldn't know you were in the centre of Rome. There was some noise from neighbours in the evening and from the street but very quiet at night. The staircase up to the bedroom was a little steep and narrow making it difficult to get suitcases up there and definitely not for anyone who is a little unsteady on their feet. Otherwise it was great.

My son and I spent 3 nights here,for a sightseeing visit. Although you are in the middle of a lively neighborhood, the hotel is on a quiet street right off the main drag. Small boutique hotel, very quiet. Looks like it has been recently remodeled. Friendly and helpful staff (with limited hours). Access to main and room doors via a well designed key pad system.

Nice hotel near some of the historic places\n

Nice staff. Great location. Clean.
Easy acces to plaza navona, the pantheon, the Spanish steps and the fountain of Trevi.
You can walk to these places.

Put us in a different section of Rome

We reserved the 2 bedroom without any knowledge that this was in a completely different facility located in a different section of Rome - not Trastevere. They emailed me a week before my stay giving me an address to meet their representative. Not knowing Rome, I had no idea that the apartment was not in the Residenza. The dark, dank, borderline disgusting apartment - not in the middle of the nightlife and restaurants found in Trastevere - virtually ruined our time in Rome. What a disaster.

Fantastic hotel, highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel. Very friendly staff, excellent location very close to the Plaza, yet surprisingly quiet (and we had a room on the ground floor, with a window to the street). The room was large for a European hotel, and was very comfortable. The breakfast was extremely good, many choices plus fresh-baked local pastries each day. The price was very reasonable. We loved staying here and will definitely come back if our travels bring us this way again.

Wonderful little hotel, Best cappuccino

Talk to the manager about the history of the building! Like most of the buildings in Rome, there are many layers and good stories!

The breakfast includes some of the best coffee and baked goods we had while in Rome! I was very impressed with the care that was taken each morning to make such a wonderful spread! They had the nicest towels here!! Almost felt like linen.

We found it easy to walk or take the bus to any part of Rome.

Americans Beware! You must validate (or stamp) your ticket when you use transportation. They are overly dramatic in Italy if they find you with a ticket that has not been stamped.

Great location in the heart of Trastevere

We stayed for a week here. The Trastevere neighborhood is all cobblestone streets in the original medieval street layout. It is full of restaurants, bars, pizzerias etc. and very busy at night with youthful party people. The hotel is very quiet though. Close to the old Rome and ancient ruins areas across the river. The hotel has comfortable rooms and an adequate breakfast. Very friendly staff but no other amenities, but the neighborhood provides those.

A secluded charming corner in Trastevere

The overall experience in Rome was great, most of it due to the welcoming and fresh atmosphere at Residenza Santa Maria. Extremely pleasant and polite staff. The whole place as a great atmosphere and it feels like to be in a small villa.

Lovely little hotel, great location

We loved this charming little hotel. The staff were very helpful, the breakfasts were beautiful with lots of variety and the room was huge. It was a hotel that didn't look or feel like a hotel, it felt more like someone's home.

Trastevere is a great location also, very vibrant with lots of restaurants and bars and lots going on.

Perfect European hotel in great location.

Great place for family of four, if you like typical US hotels (marriott , Hyatt,etc) you will hate this place / but if you want a quaint European hotel in a great location this is perfect, easy walk to Forum and Colleseum. Great breakfast.

Great B&B in a great location!

We stayed here for two nights while visiting our dauher in the Trastevere neighborhood. Great location with a main square, restaurants, and lots of activities nearby. About a 15-20 minute walk to the sights downtown or a quick ride on the number 8 tram. The property is very clean and the wi-fi in the lobby areas is strong. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Only six guest rooms and a great breakfast included!

Wonderful place for an enjoyable stay

This will be my go-to place in Rome from now on .. a small bed and breakfast type arrangement with very nice staff - Giovanna was so nice and Elena was so hard working. Nice room - great neighborhood, pleasant ambiance all around. Good breakfast and comfy room - loved the neighborhood !!

Great location, no wifi in room

Perfect location. If you want to stay in Trastevere, and be able to access all the restaurants, and the charm of this area, than the location of this hotel is perfect. The rooms are ok. The bed has a simple, and rather old feeling to it. If you want wifi in the room, be sure to check before you go. We were in room #3, and were told that we had wifi. I checked twice with the desk because it did not work, and they said it worked, but they never checked it, and it never worked. Not that big of a deal, since you can just sit in the courtyard to use wifi, however, for $250, some might consider this important. A good, but not great, hotel experience.

Great little hotel in great location

Loved this hotel - Trastevere is a great place to stay as buzzy and loads of 'proper' Italian restaurants. We thought it was a bit far away from attractions but actually walked everywhere and consequently saw much more of Rome. Friendly staff and very clean! Would recommend!

Don't book Studio If you want to stay in a Hotel

Apartment owned by the hotel

We stayed in a lovely apartment which was owned by the hotel, however, upon initially booking it, I assumed it was set within the same building as the hotel but it was rather a 10 minute walk from the hotel.I booked this hotel based on reviews from trip advisor, so was initially slightly disappointed to know it wasn't part of the hotel.

However, upon arrival to the hotel we were met by very friendly and helpful staff. One of them walked with us to the apartment and was extremely nice.

The apartment was beautiful, in a lovely neighborhood and extremely central with all major sights within walking distance.

We walked every morning to the hotel to have breakfast but the apartment was fully equipped if you preferred to self cater.
