Alessandro, the manager in charge when I came, gave me a warm welcome. He was diligent giving all the information I needed.

The bedroom was clean, with enough supply of tea, and a tea kettle was available. The bathroom was immaculate with the tub and shower -- a nice bath with good flow of water. Toiletries were provided.

Breakfast was superb! Variety of coffee that were freshly brewed by the barista. Egg, ham, cereals, fruits, bread, muffins, and fresh juices were available.

The staff were courteous and very accommodating.

Such a charming little hotel in a charming part of Rome. We plan to stay here again when we are fortunate enough to return.
The personal service was outstanding. We were greeted by name anytime we interacted with the staff.
We would like to call special attention to Jacob at the reception desk and Kevin in the bar. They must be two of the friendliest people in the world. Jacob was most helpful showing us our room, giving information about the area, and arranging a private car to return us to the airport at the end of the trip. Kevin treated me to a birthday cocktail and made the best Aperol Spritz and Negronis. The snacks during happy hour were delicious!
Thank you Hotel Santa Maria for being part of the countless wonderful memories we have from Italy and Rome.

The setting for this Hotel is fantastic with lovely courtyards and comfortable rooms. All the staff we met, from the reception staff, the breakfast and bar staff and the cleaners were friendly, kind, attentive and clearly enjoyed their work. The breakfast was lovely, particularly the bread and croissants and eating outside in the courtyard was a lovely start to the day. Hotel Santa Maria is a great place to stay in Rome. The location is great, with so many restaurants close by, and also walkable to most tourist attractions. There is a very nice patio where you can have a great breakfast under the shade of orange trees. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Amazing stay in Trastevere. They helped arrange a driver from the airport and gave us our first cappuccino and juice for the kids upon arrival, along with some pastry. The breakfast and aperitivo were lovely and we enjoyed the quiet courtyard very much. The room was wonderful and ac worked well. We loved it so much we booked our last night before our departure there, as well. Thanks so much to the staff for a lovely stay!

PERFECT Location!! Quiet but Close to sooo many things but if you need to the other side of Rome, the property is only a couple of minutes walk to the taxi stand - We recommend only using the taxis that have iT on the side … just trust me

Beyond AMAZING staff!! They were very accommodating and kind. Nothing but positive things to say. (When employees have worked there for over 14 years, it really speaks volumes in the service industry.)

The hotel santa maria, 5 stars is not enough for how great the place is. Right in the heart of the Trastevere area but provides a tranquil and quiet retreat until you are ready to venture out.

Hotel Santa Maria is an excellent property to stay in Trastevere. All tourist attractions are with 30 minutes walk with lots of dining options from outside the facility. Great place to walk around in and very safe. The staff is very friendly and treats you like family not as a guest. Will definitely go back to Hotel Santa Maria. Don't let the graffiti in the neighborhood fool you...it is in a great location where there are lots of places to dine as soon as you walk out. The rooms are clean and bigger than usual. If you like to walk and stay away from the touristy spots, this is the place to stay. DON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER...BOOK THIS PLACE!!

This hotel is a little gem in Rome! It’s the perfect location to walk to all the main attractions. The room we had for 3 people was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. This property deserves a much higher rating than what is given online. Although it states 3 star hotel, it should be ranked a lot higher due to the convenient location in the heart of Trastevere, the friendliest staff, and the wonderful atmosphere of the hotel itself. It is very secure as you have to be let in through a gate and let out through the same gate so it makes you feel safe. If you’re looking for all inclusive or fancy, this is not the place but the genuine service and environment would give it that feel.

My family enjoyed that the Hotel had a 24 hour reception, breakfast with friendly servers that made your coffee and hot chocolate with designs, rooms that had daily service and all the amenities like shampoo, hair dryer, mini fridge. Most of all the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the restaurants, and shops while at the same time being quiet and safe. The staff is friendly and even offers suggestions for restaurants. They even arranged for their private driver take us to the airport.

Hotel Santa Maria exceeded my expectations.

The location is superb - so fun to be in the liveliness of Trastevere with so many bars, restaurants, shopping - it's an absolute vibe.

Even with all the liveliness, the grounds of the hotel are serene and quiet. As soon as you walk into the gate, it is as if you're transferred to a secret garden of relaxation.

You will also feel safe with the 24hour reception office open to let you into the gate.

The walk across the river to the main attractions is simple and feels safe, you can make it to the Pantheon in about 10-15mins.

The staff here is really what takes this location to the next level. So welcoming, accommodating, booked reservations for my husband and I. I cannot say enough about the staff.

The Happy Hour is great. I didn't think we would attend, but we ended up making it back to the hotel everyday after touring to get some peace and quiet before an eventful night life.

Thank you Hotel Santa Maria - we will be back!

This was my second stay at the Hotel Santa Maria. The location, Trastevere, is perfect. My wife and I are 65 and had no trouble walking to the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Colosseum, and other areas we wanted to visit. The neighborhood restaurants (many) are excellent, and attract more Romans than tourists--particularly on weekends. Takeaway food is close and excellent. Trastevere feels more like a small Italian town than a part of a big city. The area around the hotel is somewhat of a party zone for younger people, but noise is not a problem because the hotel is off the street and behind locked gates. The courtyard surrounded by the hotel rooms is shaded by a grove of productive orange trees, and we had breakfast there each morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful (directions, taxis, and general advice). The rooms are not fancy, but are nice. Overall, a classy place for the moderate price. I would recommend the hotel to anyone, and think it would be particularly nice for children (safe area to play away from traffic and great breakfast).

This hotel was just amazing. The location is very good in the centre of Trasteverre. The staff from the front desk, to the breakfast staff and the Happy Hour staff were all amazing. Breakfast was included and had a great variety of items. The first night we had great Aperol and Limoncello Spritz's. The rooms themselves are pretty basic but you really don't spend much time in them. The courtyard was shaded and cooling. We had wonderful and very quiet sleeps. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean, reasonable size, and the shower is great. The breakfast is excellent. There are many wonderful restaurants and gelato places within few minutes walk. Within 30-35 min walk to the colosseum, Vatican and the Spanish square.

We really enjoyed the stay. The wifi signal is a bit weak inside the room. So if you want to stream any video, could be an issue,

The Trastevere area is vibrant, lots of graffiti but very safe. We really like the area.

Actually the property looked very interesting, historic, with a charming garden and very helpful staff (at least Adriano, the receptionist, who was the only person I interacted with). Unfortunately, Expedia sent me a reservation verification but when I arrived, there was no reservation and no possibility for a room of any sort at the hotel. The Santa Maria manager said that they had informed Expedia that they were fully booked, but Expedia gave me a reservation anyway. I lost two or three hours of time as the receptionist and I called a dozen places until we found a hotel that had a vacancy at a similar price. Keeping in mind that the last 500 meters from the taxi drop-off point to the hotel consisted of a cobblestone pedestrian walkway that I had to carry luggage by myself through, I was extremely disappointed and unhappy with Expedia's providing me with a bogus reservation.
But, the hotel looked very appealing.

This is an ideal location for visiting Rome, right in the heart of Trastevere. The location is gated and safe and managed brilliantly, 24 hours. The area around the hotel is teeming full of restaurants, bars, pastries, pizzas, open long into the early AM. The hotel is unique in its garden like setting, a nice happy-hour lounge, good breakfast, and most of all the best staff. The staff is excellent, very helpful, knowledgeable and go out of the way to make you comfortable. This place is highly recommended and my family and I will stay there again in the future.

Wonderful hotel I would recommend to anyone! The place used to be a convent, so you feel very quiet and safe inside the compound, with its lovely gardens and courtyards. You almost forget you're in a bustling neighborhood of Rome! Our room was next to the solarium, where we had our appertivos on several evenings. So beautiful! The staff was excellent. We were picked up at the airport and our (heavy) bags carried for us to the room. The room was quite large and the bed was comfortable. Nothing fancy, but very nice. My only complaint was the plumbing smell in the bathroom (but I think this is an Italy thing, since we encountered it elsewhere as well). Breakfast was great, and everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. We stayed at an upscale hotel later (for 3x the price), and all in all I much preferred the Santa Maria.

Excellent little hotel in fantastic area of Rome. Super friendly and accommodating staff. The best area to walk around, eat, drink and watch people is right outside the hotel in Trastevere, which is a quiet oasis in the middle of hustle and bustle.

Hotel Santa Maria is a haven in the middle of crazy restaurants and shops abounding in the Trastevere neighborhood. The staff are unbelievably helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!

Loved this place

Firstly Kevin makes the best aperol spritz. Loved the large courtyard setting, check-in easy, very comfy room and loved the almost bohemian neighbourhood. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

The staff there were very friendly, the location is very close to a lot of touristic attraction. I love the breakfast and the happy hour at the outdoor court yard. this hotel is a hidden gem, great for family. I will definitely come back

Cool place of calm in the center of an active area. Gated community exclusive feeling. All the excitement of the city within steps and an oasis of calm at the hotel. So quiet and peaceful. Such mastery on the cappuccino art. Great happy hour spot.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Found the area not as clean as centro Rome. But it did have the best meal we had all week and the best rice balls ever! right around corner at Trattoria 29. Felt safe at hotel as it is gated. The hotel courtyard was very pretty and the free breakfast served there was really lovely. Served with white linen and silver. A great start to the day. Also took the free bikes on site out for the day and really enjoyed biking around.

We are glad we stayed here and would recommend this property as it was a lovely little quiet oasis in a busy city, also very close to the river, more variety of food around, like a great Taco place down the alley and less expensive and less crowded than Rome.

Special shout out to Tiziana who offered a lot of advice pre-trip as well.

This is a true gem. It is right in the heart of Trastevere, so it is surrounded by lively restaurants and at night there is a lot of activity in the area. But the hotel is gated, and when you enter, it is a little oasis. It is quiet, and the rooms surround a courtyard with orange, lemon and lime trees. Breakfast is included, and there is a bar is open most of the afternoon with snacks during Apertivo. The service is amazing, from the friendly welcome at reception, to the exceptional service in the restaurant: the gentlemen at breakfast is a foam artist, and the bartender is top notch. Highly recommend this property.

I didn't stay at the property. My poor review is because of the customer service I received when I tried to cancel my booking. Delta canceled 3 of our flights and we could not make our trip to Italy. I received no understanding from the Hotel when I explained the situation. Very disappointing.
