This hotel is wonderful. The rooms are spacious with vaulted ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors. All the staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned everyday, fresh towels too. It’s very close to the Metro. Lots of food options around. I would stay here again!

Solo trip and made to feel like I was a family member. I had a solo single room with toiletries replaced daily. The owners were very relaxed and accomodating and with zero issue helped me print a train ticket.

The area is fine, metro close by. You will need to take stairs but the owners were great and I wpuld stay here again.

Milan nice for a few days

When i arrived i thought its old fashioned and my room was up on the top 4 floors ,luckily i didnt have much luggage, the room was very comfortable. Milan is expensive. Walking distance to town and the best coffee shop Pacifico on the corner. Lots of eating options.

Good location, friendly staff, the room is in a good condition, clean and with conditioner. The only small problem for those whose room is on the third floor is that they don’t have a elevator. Knowing this in advance, I’d chose this hotel anyway.

Probably the kindest people to have lent me a room to stay in. The room was good, clean, and the bed, although smaller than most hotel beds, was very comfortable. The people that work there, they may be the owners, they deserve all the praise. Very wonderful human beings. Highly recommend it!

The front desk was super rude and arrogant. They don't let you leave the hotel with the keys, you need to drop them in the front desk and they don't check for who ask the keys. If you just tell you are in room 28 they will give you the keys.

I asked for no one to enter my room, no cleaning or anything. They entered in my room, moved my bag out of the way, touched my underwear, opened the windows and did not make the bag.

Terrible customer service and I did not feel like my belongings were safe there.

A Hidden, Budget \"Gem\" in Milan

This was the best overall budget hotel in my trip.

It was located about a 20 minute walk from the train station, but it was worth the extra steps. The area was not the best, but not the worst either. I did not see any disconcerting characters lingering about, but it was certainly no five-star street. Plus, it was a short walk to the subway, a huge plus.

The hotel itself was cute on the outside, with a pointed-arch facade that subtly referenced the Middle Ages. The entry was small, down a few steps, but decently maintained. The lady who met me was very friendly, and always called me by my name and had a smile for me when she saw me. Her husband took off with my bag while I was still checking in, which worried me. It would be better to go upstairs with the customer, but all was fine. The room I had was small, like the cool, trendy dorm room you always wished you could have had in college, and decorated in a very cute way, with gothic-arched windows opening onto a balcony. The size did not bother me, and I did see in passing open doors that other rooms were larger, so if a dorm-size room is not your thing, you have options. Just ask. But the size was fine with me because it was clean, attractive, and cute. The walls were rather thin, but earplugs resolved that. My only real complaint is that the shower was very small and should have a shower door, not a curtain, as the curtain kept moving in on me which was uncomfortable. But I would stay there again if I returned.

Basic but pleasant

The room was lovely- plenty of space even in a single room and despite the road outside being relaid it was quiet. The reception is basic and could not speak English well so it took us a while to get through the process but the man was pleasant! There were no local maps or guides which meant I relied on google lots!

There are no lifts and a lot of stairs which was hard going in the heat. Air con is only free for 12 hours at night which I did not realise until I checked out having packed in the heat! The area is quiet but very out of the way and is quite a walk to anywhere useful. However, as a lone traveller I never felt unsafe. Breakfast was very sparce although there was a lovely terrace you could sit on!

20 mins walk to Milan Central Train Station.

The walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone coming up and down the stairs. I was woken up by someone's alarm clock in the next room going off and 4 am. The night receptionist is very helpful.

Close to red and green metro stops which are direct to Duomo, Last Supper, Castle, and Navigli. The family that ran it was very nice and allowed us to store our luggage during the day after check out. They even allowed us to borrow an umbrella on the day it rained. Very clean, cute little rooms that overlooked a pretty courtyard.

We regretted staying here

At least in the summer months, do not stay here. You will sweat to death at night. There is no air conditioning and it doesn't cool down (ever). After 6 weeks of traveling, this was the only hotel we regretted - it ruined our next day - but if you don't mind baking, maybe this is the hotel for you. We spend little time in our hotel rooms, so the rest is just fine ... pretty clean, mediocre staff, and in a decent area. Just note: you might have to walk up 4 flights of stairs with your luggage (though if you are looking for a cheaper hotel in Milan, I assume you don't mind that).

this hotel had just what we needed to stay cheaply in milan but also be comfortable. it is very close to public transit, the main train station, and corso buenos aires for some shopping and restaurants. it was clean and the owners were very nice! also really fast and free internet!

OK for the price

It was OK. Not far from train station, close to metro stop. Room was adequate, bathroom was adequate, wifi sporadic but close to adequate (it was real good at certain times but not so good around 10PM but that may have had to do with the clientele and when the majority of people got on wifi when I was there). It really isn't anything special but it's not bad at all. Easiest way to walk there from the train station is to go out the front doors of the train station (which are blocked off now due to construction so you have to go out the side and go to the front and face as if you came out the front door:-) and turn left and walk around the left side of the \"round-about\" to Dorian Street. Take Dorian all the way to the second round-about (about 6 blocks; it's called Loreto). So you have to curve around the first round-about and get back on Dorian. Then you turn right and pass a street, maybe two but I think only one to Nicola Antonio but I think you only see Nicola (you will see it). Turn right and go one short block and turn right again on Giavonni Ricardo. It's about half a block on your left-hand side.

Perfect for lone travellers

All the reviews about the Malta Hotel being small and having no elevator are true. However, if you're travelling alone and don't have too much luggage, then it's perfect considering the price. For a price that usually would only get you into a youth hostel, you get your own room with your own ensuite bathroom (including a toilet, bidet and powerful shower), and my room also had a sink in the bedroom area which was handy for getting ready to go out. The room was very clean and pleasant.

Negative points were: Firstly, the wifi doesn't work above the first floor. This is something they seem to have known about for a long time and are doing nothing about. Secondly, they provide very little in the way of soap or shampoo and I felt I was always rationed. A couple of extra sachets of shampoo and an extra bar of soap would have felt a bit better. Also, the TV is tiny, but that wasn't a big deal. Finally, the water system is very noisy and I was woken up in the night everytime anyone in a nearby room turned on a tap.

All in all though, it's an excellent hotel for the price. It's close to Loreto subway station but I just walked into town. I'd strongly recommend this hotel if you're travelling on a budget - I find it hard to imagine getting anything better for the price! If you're looking for luxury though, or have a lot of luggage and family, this might not be the best.

Great for the price

I read a couple of reviews and was a bit apprehensive but glad we booked the hotel. At the price we pay, we have no complains. Not 5 star but it is clean, service is good (let us store our luggage when we arrived early and after check-out), near to the tube stop, large room and safe location. Only thing to point out is the stairs (not for those who cannot go up 3 level of stairs).

Malta Hotel - great for a short stay

Great location! There were plenty of nearby restaurants and shops, and the Loreto metro stop is very close by to take you to all of the sights. Very clean room with all the amenities we needed. The only thing I can complain about was the service. I'm not sure if it was the language barrier, but the staff seemed almost annoyed (like it was a chore) to get us checked in and checked out. Wifi cost 5 euros, but we weren't actually able to get it in our rooms (I believe it was there own personal wifi router). That being said, it wasn't too great an inconvenience to walk 2 flights down to use wifi. Overall a good value for the money and location, but I wouldn't choose this hotel for a long stay.

A 2 night stay @ Malta Hotel

It was pretty much what I expected and was looking for. I had two nights in Milan before flying out and wanted an affordable place to stay where I could relax and have some privacy. The room & bathroom were very clean and the shower had excellent water pressure. The location was actually pretty good, it was on a quiet residential street only a couple blocks from a major metro stop. I also greatly appreciated their ability to speak some English given how poor my Italian is.

Unfortunately, the bed was small and very uncomfortable. In addition, the wifi only worked in the lobby (well, they don't really have a lobby, it basically worked while sitting on the base of the steps).

In the end, it was what I was looking for; an affordable small step up from staying in a hostel.

As mentioned by others, don't stay here if you can't handle going up and down a few flights of stairs.

Trivelig hotell i et område med mange små hotell og noen få men gode restauranter. Lite enkeltrom, men hadde det en trengte. Bodde høyt oppe i etasjene, og det ble en del trapper. Ingen heis. Så passer ikke de som er dårlig til beins. Alle de som jobbet der var svært trivelige og gav god service. Det så ganske nyoppusset ut,og aircondition fungerte ypperlig. God lyddemping mot gate. Det var stille.

L’hôtel bénéficie d’un excellent emplacement avec un accès rapide au métro et à de nombreux magasins et autres commodités, ce qui est très pratique pour explorer les environs. La propriétaire est attentive et soucieuse de satisfaire ses clients, ce qui ajoute un vrai plus au séjour. Cependant, le comportement bruyant de certains voyageurs perturbe la tranquillité, notamment en pleine nuit, avec des tentatives d’ouvrir les portes des chambres, ce qui est regrettable. La chambre était impeccable, avec un lavabo à l’intérieur, bien que l’espace de la douche soit vraiment étroit et que l’insonorisation laisse à désirer.

Das Zimmer war klein aber sehr gemütlich und neu ausgestattet. Ich hatte einen kleinen Balkon der auf die Gärten der Hinterhöfe zeige. Am Abend habe ich die Ruhe sehr genossen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Einchecken war vor 14 Uhr nicht möglich, ich konnte aber meinen Koffer dort deponieren. Fünf Gehminuten von der nächsten U-Bahn Station und 20 Minuten vom Hauptbahnhof entfernt. Würde ich sehr empfehlen für wenige Nächte.

Absolut little pearl!

Very nice, clean and friendly little hotel! The room was tiny, but cute, and had everything in good condition and clean.
The area is convenient for moving around the city having metro stations in a few minutes reach, and big shopping street Corso Buenos Aires leading to the centrum a block away. The area itself has several similar small hotels and a small shop to get water and fruits around the corner. Otherwise quiet, no noisy bars etc.
The owner couple was very friendly and seemed to really care for their customers, greeting with my name every time. Definitely coming back to this place whenever in Milan!
