Daniel
It was a nice, quiet getaway stay for my wife and I. The Lodging on the Square is in an amazing location for shopping and also for the Friday night music played at The Music at the Square. We enjoyed the options at the continental breakfast and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. It may not be fancy, but not everyone is looking for a fancy hotel all the time and would gladly take the quality like we experienced during our stay.
David
I wish the Continental breakfast has a couple of hot breakfast items.
Jan
I had to travel to a different motel to check into this one. The clerk I spoke to gave me wrong directions. The coffee in the lobby is good. The breakfast was cereal and cellophane wrapped sweet rolls. No breakfast may have been a better offering. Nice location. Nice room. Hire somebody!!
Janis
The young man at the front desk wasn’t a very happy person. I didn’t like putting a $50 deposit down -if I’m gonna take something, it isn’t gonna be from a motel room. The beds were really too soft and the bottom floor smelt musty, but it was clean.
Kim
The breakfast was serve yourself. Microwave sandwiches, yogurt, toast.
Check in is at a different location which was not communicated upon booking.
They charge your credit card $50 until 3 days after checkout.

Did not like we had to check in at a different hotel location....and return keys there when checking out. I think there were other options at check out.
Parking was tight. Only 2 spots left when we returned after 9:30pm.
Very close to all the bakeries via car. Walking distance to most of downtown shops.
Great Pretzel place across street.

We stay here with our dogs everytime we stay in Berlin area. We love it and our dogs feel home. It's extremely convenient. It's right on the main street. So you can easily walk down the street to shops and restaurants.
Lisa
Amazing stay, amazing location and amazing surroundings !
Thank you
Thank you
Susan
The location was great. It was quiet, clean and had plenty of parking. The beds were super hard! No staff on the premises but dont really need them. Just a basic room. It was a great place to stay for the money.
Daniel
Everything was very clean. It was also right by many of the local shopping. Having to check-in at a location just down the street was confusing. One issue that came up was the water did not drain well in the shower tub.
Scott
This was an older property, that looks like it had been renovated recently and was well maintained. We got in late, so we had to drive 1/3 mile to get a key, which I really did not mind. Location was also great, no hot water issues like other larger hotels, and it was very quiet. I would stay here again.
jeff and maria
I loved being right on Main street with my window facing the road.
Keith
Nice place to stay right on the Main Street. You can hear cars all night. Good little breakfast. Needs a soap holder in shower.
Glenn
Hotel managed remotely from another close by property. Quiet and met our needs.
Debbie
Room was very clean. Location is wonderful. Breakfast is minimal, but ok. Coffee was not very good. But all else was ok. Always enjoy stays here, consistently clean and well maintained.
Eileen
Clean room. Excellent location.Decent breakfast. Great place to stay

Rooms smell so musty like wet carpet. The caulking around tub was dried up, cracked and mildewed. There’s no staff. You check in 3 blocks away. These 3 blocks are the Main Street and traffic is so jammed every day that it takes 20 minutes to drive the 3 blocks. We stayed 2 nights. No cleaning service until after you leave. One 1oz. Shampoo for 2 people for 3 days! Extremely disappointing trip to Amish Country.
Barbara Elizabeth
Have stayed several times at this property. Like the location to all the shops in Berlin. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hate that the pet rooms are on the top floor, but deal with it and aware that's how it is. Might try the Berlin Heritage next time with pet room in back lower level. (Hope there are pictures on the walls, last time not!)
I would suggest you offer the guest breakfast at either of your locations and that is communicated to guest upon check in. Breakfast (light) at Loding on the Square, was just that, very light. Since no staff on site, get it, but when paying pretty much same price, would be nice for equal breakfast experience or at least option.

Very clean, quiet, comfortable, perfect location- would definitely recommend and stay again!

Corner second floor room was large with 2 double beds, a USB outlet between the beds, 3 windows with views and providing wonderful natural light.
Good towels and linens. Mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker.
Great location for walking to many shops and food venues!!
Significant road noise and braking trucks on the weekday night but less on the weekends

Room was clean. The property was in a good location. The breakfast offerings were soso.

As of May 15, 2026, Lodging on the Square's check-in is at the Berlin Heritage Inn, not far away. And this is the case whether you arrive during regular hours or after hours.
Also, there is a small breakfast right there at Lodging on the Square. I found conflicting information on the site, so I wasn't sure until we arrived what the case would be.
The rooms were very nice, and very clean. There was road traffic noise in the morning, if that matters to you. There are shops and restaurants very nearby. I would stay here again, for the price we got through Expedia. Expedia has done consistently well for me, with great discounts.
Be careful not to use the \"Reservation Desk\" phone number to book your room. You will be speaking to someone who books for many hotels, and is not especially helpful.
The phone number for Lodging on the Square has a 330 area code, and the staff at that number are very kind and helpful. When I mentioned that Reservation Desk was not the best experience, staff told me they had heard that before.
Very good experience.

Sadly lacking extras. But probably because of Lacking on site staffing. All in all stay was good.
Dianna
The facility was very nice; room was clean and comfortable. There could be improvement on the breakfast. No staff onsite, you have to check-in at another hotel. But overall, I was pleased and will definitely stay here again.
Russell
Room was dated. Wasn't dirty but wasn't fresh. Room was noisy and the beds were super hard. Shower water pressure was lack luster. Breakfast offers were underwhelming, coffee was terrible. Only positive is the location.
Yvonne
The room was very clean but the carpet needs replaced, stains and felt a bit sticky.
Shari
This motel is clean, quiet, and conveniently located within the main shopping area in Berlin Ohio.
Eileen
Clean and quiet room . Eating area was clean and relaxing. The staff was pleasant, although they are located at a different property. The parking lot could use repairs. Location was wonderful- in the heart of shopping and food.
Madonna
Very handy to all the shops in Berlin
George
Met our needs. Good location.
Carol
Beyond excellent! Very, very clean. Very accommodating very nice, updated and modern. I have never seen a hotel this clean and i travel everywhere.
Breakfast was delicious and so many choices. Room had refridgerater, microwave and coffee pot. We will definatly be there again. Staff was exceptional in all ways.

Easy check in but a hotel about 1 mile away. Breaksfast assortment was great. In addition to hot items, had fresh fruit. Easy check out
Edward
The room was spacious, very clean, the only negative was heat control. Difficult to adjust temp. Otherwise loved it.
Jonathan
Clean rooms.
Shannon
The whistle sound all night was hard to not hear. Wouldn’t stay in the rooms near there 204 was our room
Tim
Very clean lodge and beautiful and clean area.
Thomas
This was a great little 3 day getaway place. Located in the heart of Berlin Ohio. It is within walking distance to most of the shopping in the heart of town. Very easy to get in and out because of an alley way. Clean and basic. Our room had a jacuzzi tub. Overall very good experience.
Jeremy
It is a pain to check in at a different location and not the actual hotel.
Keith
Was spotless Staff was very friendly. Could of had waffles for breakfast

Are room was ok, We had not been there since it changed hands. Don’t know there was much in amenities.
Nancy
Clean room. Nice breakfast.
Confusing, though. I had reserved a room at Lodging on the Square. When we arrived there was a note on door telling us to check in at Berlin Heritage.
Checked in. Guy said nothing about where our room was.
Went back to Lodging on the Square. Room #112 not there.
Called and they said our room was back at Berlin Heritage?
Very confusing. Snowing and dark when we were trying to get in.

My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary here. The facility was clean and spacious. The staff were very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
Diane
Checkin is awkward...going down the road to check in isn't convenient and bath towels are thin and small.
Sara
The room was very clean
Miranda
Chose to stay at this location because it is central to many activities in the surrounding area. The room was so comfortable! Perfect for a girl's weekend.
Janet
So close to so many interesting things to do.
Anthony
Nice room. Close in Parking lot not great
Steven
Very nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast selections, more than anticipated
Katelyn
I was very pleased with the location of the room however i was not informed i needed to travel to another property to check in. After checking in room keys were not programmed and had to wait for an employee to come bring programmed keys. Very frustrating and wasted a lot of time. Breakfast was extremely limited and the coffee was not even fresh it was out of a machine. Ended up leaving to go have breakfast and elsewhere. Rooms were very clean and nice.
Amy
Location was good, close to many shops and restaurants. Room was clean and well maintained. Bed was a little too soft for my liking. Of note, the building sits directly on a very busy street that is noisy with traffic. This was not a problem for us as we have the same situation everyday at home.
melody
We showed up at the property to find there was no staff. We had to go to another property down the road to be able to check in. After watching a comedy show on Friday, we returned to the hotel to find there wasn't any parking. I called the other property. They said we had to park across the street in the church parking lot. There is no housekeeping. We had to put our towels and garbage outside and turn in a slip in a box to request more towels. We returned that night to find the towels in a garbage bag thrown inside our door. The breakfast was light. Oatmeal packets, packaged muffins, some yogurt, etc. Nothing great. For the price we paid, I expected at least staff on the property and maybe our towels put on the towel rack. Very disappointed.
Tammy
Walk in shower was nice.
The noise of traffic was awful and loud, I was unable to sleep because of it

Clean room, Breakfast could have more options, Convenient for every where we wanted to go. Plan to stay again.
Angela

Lynda
Ok
kim
Clean and large room.
Burl
Absolutely distinctive when we entered the room it smelled like days past when i would walk into a meat packing place.
After going to eat, we bought a candle to burn that evening and night to reduxe the terrible odor.
The room was clean, plenty of towels. It was a handicap room which should have had a higher seated toilet
We had to go to a different location to pick up room cards, then we were asked to contact them when we left.
Just very different

When I called to be sure, what floor we was on Tammy Lou, was
Upset and rude because we didn't book.
drectly with Lodging on the square, . She said, most of the money goes to hotels.com and not the motel.

The carpet is in need of cleaning!
Kim
The bed was amazing
Polly
Need lots of updates. Stayed there years ago and apparently it was sold and has gone downhill ever since. It’s sad because it is a perfect location for shopping.
Eileen
Breakfast was sufficient. Bed was comfortable. It was a handicap accessible room, but the toilet was extremely low and the bed was high.
Brian
Did not meet expectations from previous reviews or ratings. Had to check in at a different location room was not serviced
Kimberly
Hotel is always clean. It is in a convenient location.
Erica
Had a fantastic time! Bed was comfortable place was clean smelled great jacuzzi worked better than expected! We did take a cooler and paper plates and utensils with us due to prior reviews I read, next time we will also bring our own pillows! And a blanket for the couch when my husband’s snoring keeps me awake!
Craig
Great location. Walkable.

Stinky!!
Been staying in Berlin for quite a few years now and always wanted to saty right down town. Unfortunately this was not the best choice. Room was decent but as soon as you walked in the smell of mildew and chemicals became overwhelming. Ended up getting an air freshener at Walmart later in the day. Got up the next morning and there were 3 roaches in the bathroom. 2 dead one on its back but still moving. Wont be staying here again.

We had a wonderful visit, no complaints or complications whatsoever!

I appreciated the location. It was amongst the fun shopping attractions and eateries. The price was affordable and the room was very spacious. However, it was in the lower level of the inn. It was terribly humid and had somewhat of an unpleasant odor. The towels and bedding felt so damp. We chose to spend most of our evening out of the room and had our snacks in the lobby where it was more comfortable. The staff at the sister location were friendly and the complimentary breakfast was excellent.
