This is a beautiful 16th century convent that was converted into a hotel. The views of Cuenca hunging houses are stunning. The location is very convenient as its right next to the San Pablo bridge with access to the old town and the staff is very friendly. If you are coming to Cuenca this is definitely the place to stay at. We loved it!

The hotel is very nice and at a great location. The room was clean and spacious, nice bathroom and dressing area.
The breakfast was Ok, no decaf machine and the service to get hot dishes was slow. The buffet area was good.
In general is a nice place with good access to the city. The only negative thing was that the water in the shower would go from hot to cold and vice versa, didn't matter what time you shower, it was the same.

The location though beautiful is a challenge to reach. Hotel should offer a shuttle service from the train as there were no taxis available. Breakfast was excellent with choice of omelettes and eggs. There are peculiar rules like not being able to sit in the courtyard on a ‘dinner’ table at 10pm which is empty to have a drink if the drinks tables next to it are not empty. There were six empty dinner tables and yet we were refused a drink until someone left the undressed table. Requests to staff were responded to somewhat reluctantly at some points though it may be that they were overwhelmed. Don’t miss the pool; it’s gorgeous, but freezing. The views are spectacular and the hotel itself is very attractive with generous-sized rooms.

Great hotel in a magical setting. Construction work outside the hotel made entering and exiting a bit chaotic. Hotel personnel were fantastic. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Worth the effort getting to especially driving in downtown Cuenca (you have to experience it to understand this comment).

We were the first guests in our rooms following a major remodel but the area surrounding the hotel still had construction tarps up which blocked us from seeing the hotel entrance. It's a tiring walk to amenities. Arrival was very confusing, we couldnt control the a/c which was cold in one room but hot in 2 others. We appreciated being given complementary water, the only parador that did, given the tap water tasted badly. We do not like the parador policy of making us reserve for breakfast. Not relaxing at all. The food however was exceptional.

Parador de Cuenca is a destination in itself. The building was once the monastery of San Pablo built in 1523. It stands picturesquely across the gorge from the Old Town and connected to it by the Puente de San Pablo. Right across are the Casas Colgadas. We arrived really early, and the staff were kind enough to let us leave our luggage so we can go around. Breakfast was at 8-11 so they allowed us to have our breakfast for our stay instead of having it the next day, as we had an early train to catch the next day. Taxi to and from the hotel and train station was a flat €12. The hotel interiors are impressive and our experience was just beautiful.

Parador de Cuenca!!!!

This is an amazing hotel, there is no other way to put it. The easiest check in I've ever had at a hotel too. They took a photocopy of my passport and handed me the key. Simple. The bar has a great menu and the staff were wonderful. Highly recommend if you are visiting Cuenca.

It’s an old building, beautifully preserved, with excellent service, great food (enough for 2 vegetarians to survive), a wonderful breakfast, amazing views (though we did not have one from our lovely room) and a bridge to the old town. Cuenca is stunning. We truly enjoyed our stay. We spent 3 days, but could have stayed longer.

Don’t be fooled by the pony-tailed guy operating outside the hotel trying to get you to park on the street: he’s not an employee and expects you to give him money. You can park in front of the hotel or drop your bags and get directions to use the hotel garage from the nice people in reception.

Excellent hotel very impressive. We booked this hotel as part of a overnight stay on a long trip. We wish that we had allowed for a longer stay. The views are amazing and the historical town is beautiful.

We are already planning to return to Spain next year and we will be included a long stay at the hotel so we can explore the area more.

The rooms in the convent were a little austere for my taste, but the property was beautiful with a fountain in the courtyard. The view of Cuenca was stunning and the bridge to the town was a very close. The restaurant was good and the common areas very pleasant.

Getting around the historic city is just a short walk away. Requires crossing a bridge across the gorge to get to the remainder of the historic city, not for those who are afraid of heights.

This hotel is so nice and majestic. The personnel are very accommodating and the Waite staff are wonderful. Cons…1 waitress showed signs of a severe cold but was still serving and waiting on customers…definitely a turn off. Room was very comfortable with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Access to town was just a short walk over a very high narrow bridge so if you have a fear of heights just drive your car or take a taxi into old town. Beautiful city and relaxing people. Via España!!!

This is a fantastic building in a wonderful location. Good staff, attentive and cheerful.The only negative was noise - people talking below in the middle of the night and a bus parked outside our window with Japanese tourists. The bus started up soon after 8am and remained stationary for at least 20 minutes while 50-odd Japanese trundled their flight cases to the bus. Lesson: Don't take a room at the front of the building, particularly above parking for buses.

The staff was friendly. The rooms spacious and spotless. Note that the floor is tiled so you may want to wear slippers. The breakfast there is 20 EUR which is on the expensive side, but the food was excellent (pastries, cured meats, variety of breads with optional toasting). The best part is the beautiful location. The old town is just across the bridge and you can walk to everywhere. Be ready for going up and down a lot of hills/steps. I was there in Nov, so it wasn’t as tourist heavy except near the cathedral. Outside the hotel, don’t expect English to be much understood. Just learn some basic Spanish phrases and use Google Translate. People in town are friendly.

You Tunes do not do it justice. Cuenca is quaint Hanging houses are amazing. Cliffs around it are very unique and indescribable.

The property its sely dates back to 1300s and was lovingly restored in 1992. Lots of grest original art amazing monastary. Contemporary but respevtful of its history.

Was definitely the highlight of oir trip. Oh did I not mention food. Wow!

Disappointing attitude in Cuenca parador

The hotel is well situated for the city. It’s a beautiful establishment.
I was unhappy with the general attitude of the staff. Unwelcoming, inflexible, unhelpful and generally unfriendly.
There was not even the slightest accommodation for smokers. I understand the distaste for smokers but as a guest establishment there could have been a small space alllotted where we could go and still not bother the non smokers and not be made to feel like tramps.

The property was beautiful and rooms were lovely. However, we booked through Expedia and when we got to the hotel paid for an upgraded room with a view. (65 euros more each night) When checking in the front desk attendant asked what time we would like breakfast in the morning . I knew that we had not originally booked rooms with breakfast. So I doubled checked with him. He said “it is included with your upgrade” I said “are you sure? He said “yes” So for 3 days we had breakfast, and of course when checking out they said it was “not included”’and we have to pay 20 euros per person per day. An extra 120 Euros. The breakfast was not worth that price at all. Plus they actually charged me for 4 days (160) and had to refund me day. I feel this was a scam by the hotel. So I would never recommend this hotel to anyone because of the “over charges”

The hotel is a beautiful historic building in an amazing setting. The rooms were clean and pleasant if a little dated. I found the breakfasts and dinner rather disappointing. The breakfast organisation was rather chaotic and on the first day I was not offered a hot dish. The coffee was rather cold that day too. The second breakfast was better. The dinner menu looked good but the food was not up to restaurant standards and was expensive. I would go again but eat out in the town. The accommodation was worth the price.

The town of Cuenca was an unexpected delight! We didn’t know how unusual the setting. The Parador is nicely located to enjoy the town and the bridge. The views, divine! The room was spacious and clean, if a little worn. We bought the breakfast thinking it would be something special given the accommodations. It was odd. Lots of tiny sliced meats and tiny jars of toppings that were special but not easy to use (bee pollen and all the seeds) but a very slim selection on any actual food.

A place to remember

The hotel is gorgeous and the staff super friendly. This hotel is a former monastery and it preserves its antique architecture. The hotel rooms are very confortable and roomy, we got one with a view of the cliffs and the hanging houses. Very happy with the stay.

Most unique and memorable hotel in Cuenca!

The Parador de Cuenca was a Convent restored to a 5-star hotel. It is on a perch with a fabulous view of the cliff-hanging houses with a steel bridge across a deep gorge connecting to the historic town. The property is majestic and impeccable in every way, including cleanliness. Our room was enormous like a suite with a sofa and coffee table, plus a view towards town. We enjoyed dinner in the historic dining room and breakfast the next day. If you can, I suggest you stay at this memorable hotel!

A wonderful property by itself with stunning view of old city over cliff, yet can conveniently use the San Pablo Footbridge to the old city, toruist sights and hikes. A mid walk down hill to down town for more local restaurants and express supermarket. Hotel restaurant is a good choice for supper - price slight high but not excessive with good quality. Worth to save walking to restaurants on cool windy rainy nights in December.

Interesting property as 500+ monastery that is spectacularly sited on precipice overlooking old town of Cuenca and remaining hanging houses. For a “ four star hotel” service was poor and not very helpful. Bridge to town was out and no accommodations made to help this situation- if your physical condition did not allow a 20 minute walk down and up to town, you had to take a cab. Bridge takes five minutes and puts you in center of town... BIG difference. Service very slow and not very helpful. Except for view and unique, historic building, not worth the money or rating. Cathedral of Cuenca is spectacular and unexpected. Art museum in hanging house is interesting- especially structure. The old town itself is picturesque and charming- not a lot of crowds or tour buses

The perfect place to stay in Cuenca

Staying in the parador really made our trip to Cuenca. It is THE best location in town and such a beautiful place. The room was fantastic, overlooking the hanging houses. We joined the Amigos loyalty group before we went and were given a complimentary drink which was lovely. The service, room, location and everything was top quality. I would definitely recommend it.

We loved our stay in this historic building, the rooms are large and very comfortable and the restaurant and bar very good. We enjoyed relaxing in the cloisters! Parking was easy and the views from the hotel just amazing. The walk to the old town should have just been a short walk across the pedestrian bridge. Unfortunately, the entrance to the old town was blocked by workmen and we had a 15 min walk down the hill and then up to the old town. Hopefully this is just temporary. Would love to stay again.
