What a magical place! This place is full of hospitality. It was clean, the rooms are big and spacious. The beds are comfortable. They have everything you need for adults, kids, and family’s. We visited the Spa everyday we were there. AU and SA give the best massages, facials and are most accommodating. AU gives the BEST Thai massages! You have to visit the spa and ask for these two.

The food is great! The bar is fun! Would definitely go back! Highly recommend!

1) our rooms were located on 3rd floor without lifts making it very difficult for older folks with heart & mobility problems. We were not told in advance or offered lower floors.
2) rooms were not cleaned & made up when we left in morning & returned after lunch.
3) both showers were clogged & flooded. Reported morning before we left & nothing was done till we returned & complained again.

Some refurbsihment work was underway in August 2023 when we astayed but we knew about this beforehand and it did not impact our stay. We stayed in a poolside room which was excellent. The only area for improvement would be the food which I would say is 3.5 out of 10 and is quiet expensive. However having said that we would visit again as the inflatable in the main pool is amazing and so much fun

Disappointing experience.

As a 5-star hotel, So Sofitel Hua Hin is much below our expectation.

1. In the beginning, we were told that the family room is on the 3rd floor. We agreed the upgrade for this reason. However, we ended up being in the 1st floor near the entrance.

2. Seeing the attached picture, the baby cod was broken when my son was sleeping! I still cannot believe this was happening in a 5-star hotel. My son was not even jumping but just lying down on it. We used to stay in Oakwood where the baby cod was very nice and cozy. We had expected the same level in So Sofitel but we were wrong.

3. The room were were staying was 101. The telephone was not functioning, some of the lights were not working. Once the light was replaced, it cannot even be switched off when we wanted to sleep. We even have to call the room service only to switch off the light for us.

4. For breakfast and dinner, the seats were completely not enough. The level of service was not aligned with the price we were charged.

5. The TV was not even smartTV. The Chromecast was not functioning properly. Even the technician cannot make it work.

Overall speaking, this was a very disappointing experinece.
Be aware for all family with kids.

Great hotel with plenty of activities for families

The resort was great. The bike path, mini putt, and obstacle course were a family favourite during our stay. Unfortunately, the pool and restaurant closed midway through our stay due to new covid restrictions. As such, we could not use the pool and could only have order in food. Having said that, breakfast buffet was fantastic, the facilities were quite nice. Room was very comfortable and the air conditioning was top notch. We would return once Covid restrictions are lifted.

Love the comfort of the high ceiling room. Pool was very relaxing. And the kids pool with the inflatable obstacle course was even fun for adults. Loved the food by the pool. Beware, lots of people of the weekend so have to avoid peak hours in public areas.

The hotel was not clean up to So sofitel standards. The pool area was very nice for the kids and adults. The room again wasn't meeting the sofitel standard for cleanliness. The hotel was understaffed. The FNB was quite good though. The room where we were staying was having construction right opposite and we had to call thrice before action was taken.
Overall it's worth going because of the kids but otherwise it didn't suit our liking.

If you want to spend time in hotel stay then this will be the hotel that will make you feel welcome right from the entrance.
The hotel has many fun games for the kids to self indulge.
However, the only con is the hotel is a distance from the town like night markets or mall situated. You will need a vehicle to travel out.
I have 2 separate booking in this hotel, 1 with kids room located at 1 storey and the other King room with view. This hotel has no lift hence might not recommend to those with stairs issue or request for lower floors.

I booked a room with kids house at So Sofitel Hotel Hua Hin “So” for 4 nights. My kids loved the honeycomb (we lived in yellow Comb) kids house very much. The staffs of So are professional and friendly. They served us with welcome drink at check-in counter. Every one there are helpful. We had our breakfast and dinner in one of the restaurants, White Oven. The waiter and waitress are very polite. Food are good. There are three swimming pools, we enjoyed swimming there. The hotel is spacious that it seems like we are the only guest to enjoy the facility. When it was breakfast time, you know it the hotel is full of guest. :)
Every morning, my kids went to the Kids Tent to play after just few bite of breakfast! Hopefully, the staff helped to take care of them, so we can enjoy our breakfast without kids. Thanks Crystal’s help, the staff at Kids Tent. She helped me to take care of my son while I was out to play golf with my daughter. My son enjoyed playing in kids tent very much.
We had also tried the massage at the SoSpa. It was a wonderful experience. All of them are very professional and have very good skills. I have tried Indian head massage and Balinese massage. We can really relax there.
If you don’t go out, you must be able to find something to do in this hotel. It is a very good choice for family stay.

Overall a good experience staying in one of the pool villas. Villa swimming pool and surrounding area was dated. The layout of the accommodation, in 2 separate buildings, somewhat impractical especially if staying with young children. Limited wardrobe and drawer space. Very comfortable bed. Food and service very good throughout.

Very chic design but need a little fix up

I really enjoyed the stay. The hotel design is just really cool especially the bathroom. The spa way amazing and they even offer free in-room bubble bath as an accommodation. It’s just a little far from Hua-Hin but still within a half an hour radius. I would totally recommend you to stay.

Stay and weather were wonderful just lazing near to the private beach. Right time to be there as we saw the blood moon 3 nights in a row! Food wise, brekkie has a good selection, foods are fusion and no consistency in the cocktails. Condition of the room was a bit of disappointment, AC is old, tap not working properly, amenities were not properly taken care of, etc.

Just not 5 star service

While this resort has all the makings of a 5 star hotel (the rooms and amenities truly are 5 star) the service, particularly from the bar, lets this hotel down. It was a reoccurring theme (with waits of up to an hour to receive our drink orders). One particular afternoon the beach bar was closed due to rain and we were told to head to their HI-SO bar if we wanted to keep drinking. The problem is, there was no staff at this bar! I went behind the bar twice to use the phone to call reception and ask for a bartender, who showed up 20 minutes later. Oh, and did I mention it was their Happy Hour?!

I would have spent so much more money at the hotel if I could just get service! Seriously, I left the hotel in the rain and walked around the corner to a tiny local food shop where I finally received the pampering that I wanted. Another night the drink service was so slow I left to buy some BYO beers for our room.

Additionally, I recommend guests research the location of the hotel before committing to this hotel. It is approximately 30 minutes from Hua Hin. There are cheap shuttles offered by the hotel but at very sparsely scheduled times..., and (again, very un-5-stars) once they are fully booked you're on your own!

The hotel has so much potential..., but unless the staff are retrained with a customer-centric focus then I can't recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable. Hotel is under renovation so breakfast area was away from the beach view. Building has a strong pain smell at end of day, not in the room however. The best part about the hotel is the privacy, and the quiet beach area. The new theme \"Alice in Wonderland\" is striking. Would love to see the hotel again when the renovation is finally complete.

Nice hotel overall - location is a bit removed from the main beaches, as are most of the bigger resorts that have their own beaches as the public beaches are really crowded with locals. Currently under renovation though as it has been purchased by the So Sofitel chain. Pools are great, beach more for lounging on the sand rather than swimming. Rooms are minimalistic, which is cool, and large.

Great place to relax without doing anything. Excellent breakfast, room space, beach, swimming pool, happy hour cocktail and the rainshower. It seems no place to go in the neighborhood and I do not need to leave either in the three days. We had one dinner in the restaurant but pork rib is too sweet, salad is too salty and noodle is too soft. It will be the only concern for my next stay.

There were only two things that niggled.

1) the pigeons waking me up at a very early time.... sitting on the window having a 'party'.
staff were great about my comments and cleaned up window area.

But maybe some discouraging netting (bit ugly) or thin wires on the outside
to discourage homing themselves there.

2) the sinks in the bathroom never let the water run away and sat most of the day.

oh and the roof of reception could use a little attention.

But these are niggles .

Like most reviewers said on various sites, the hotel is tired and worn, and really needs to be refurbished.

The fountains at the bottom of the grand stairs leading to the hotel lobby check-in counters were not turned on, and looked like they were not turned on for a really long time. The lobby reflective pond next to the check in counters were the same; filthy - dead leaves, algae and grime were evident. Not a great impression upon arrival at the hotel.

We had a garden terrace suite, room size was large, however, similarly, the furnishings were old and worn, had chips and dings everywhere, including a hole in the bathroom ceiling which had a pipe sticking out of it - which honestly the hotel should've done something to conceal - it made the construction look cheap.

The heat control on the rain shower was stuck, and we had to jiggle it for awhile before it was fixed. The handheld shower head in the tub was broken - the joint portion was spraying water everywhere uncontrollably, which made the shower head impossible to use.

One night, we also found a centipede(!!) on the drapes right above our bed - which the hotel had removed, however, when asked if it was possible to change the room, our requests were ignored.

The chill pool is the only saving grace, however, there were also algae on the pool ladder. The pool near the beach did not look clean enough to enter - in fact, we didn't see anyone in that pool at all in our entire stay.

Great hotel, large rooms and FANTASTIC staff

A very relaxing 4 night stay at the very nice Hotel de la Paix. The rooms are very big and boast an amazing shower that comes from the ceiling in the middle of the bathroom! The hotel staff excelled in every way... with superb customer service. Breakfasts were delicious and varied day by day, the BBQ buffet was fantastic value and the food was very tasty. I would recommend this hotel for couples wanting an 'away from it all' break. I would not recommend it to those wanting a more lively holiday due to the location of the hotel. On the downside it took 30 minutes by shuttle bus to get into Hua Hin - which isn't the prettiest place I have ever been in Thailand. We also could not swim in the sea due to the jelly fish. That said, we were happy to laze on our sunbeds and use the hotel pools :)

Contemporary lux breathtaking resort

Our party included 7 close friends in 4 rooms, the 2 nights there was heavenly bliss. You'd never need to leave the hotel for anything, you wouldn't want to! The room was spacious, equipped with an Apple TV, Bose sound system individually controlled in bedroom and bath. High ceilings and rain shower was a major love. We all loved the breakfast, which was a good mix of continental and Thai, or Asian, if you prefer. The Active pool was very hot to swim in during the day, so we relaxed at the Chill pool instead. All the guests were quite quiet, except the 7 of us who wouldn't stop giggling and laughing. Our spa experience was absolutely divine! It's not as relaxing, as the masseuse do try to \"untie the knots\" on your shoulders and it could hurt a bit. They are really skillful, and there was a promotion going on when we went so it was so worth it! The hotel had a Seafood BBQ dinner which didn't seem very worth it at first, but it wasn't too expensive and we didn't want to leave the hotel for food. The beach however was a little bit too close to the edge of the hotel. There wasn't much of a beach for a long stroll, and the waves were strong (early Nov) so we didn't swim there. It is also full of shells so wear shoes. Overall, the whole hotel was amazingly contemporary. You could take a good picture at every angle or every corner. It was well kept, tastefully designed and definitely well managed. One night in this place is not enough, don't say I didn't warn you. ;)

Great Place to Stay and Chill

Stayed here for 2 nights, was impressed by the expanse of space, both at the hotel common areas and also the room. Nice décor, relaxing and not too crowded. Excellent to chill and just relax. Nice swimming pools to sunbathe, and also the private beach with the private cabanas right at the beachside of the hotel. Wonderful.

Free shuttle twice a day to Cham Am Beach and also Hua Hin Town, which makes it really convenient.

Food in hotel was great, a comprehensive breakfast spread and nice selection for dinner too. Sit indoors in the evenings though, as there are plenty of mosquitoes.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, with personal requests catered to and carried out the way you want it. Attentive and hospitable staff!

Remote but worth it

This is a starkly designed, but very cool hotel. The rooms were spacious, they had a spectacular shower and it was very peaceful. It is a long way from anywhere (30 min drive from hua hin, 500 baht in the hotel mini bus / taxi and probably 10/15 mins in a car to cha am beach). The 2 pools were lovely. Restaurant was good and food was decent value given a fairly upmarket hotel. Free water and other drinks in the mini bar was a nice touch. Although not advertised it had a small gym.

Impressive hotel decor

The design is wonderful, ESP the bathroom with the rain shower. The hotel is situated quite remotely from anything, do not expect to be able to go too far outside, luckily, plenty to do in the hotel and the room is super nice to stay in whole day. Breakfast was great. However, people for room cleaning may throw out your stuff they think 'rubbish', eg your half drunk juice or plastic bags you brought over for your shoes... While keeping your half drunk sprite you took from their fridge...
Overall it's really nice but I guess guests need to mark which items they'd like to keep / discard...

Quiet & peaceful place

We've been to this hotel a few times already and we really enjoy it. However you do need a vehicle as there is not much amenities around there.

Close to Beach

The room is very big and comfortable. Bathroom is big too with great rainfall shower and big bath tub. Staff are all friendly and helpful. The breakfast has wide varieties. Overall experience with them is great!

Came with high expectation left disappointed. We've been a guest at almost all GHM managed hotels, The Chedis, and having read that this is a former Alila, we came to expect that level of services and tranquility. We were wrong. As a hardware you may find traces of a hotel meant to embrace traits found in Chedis, but de la paix fails badly in the software. You will find staff of the quality commonly found in local chain hotels. I dont know if this was a case of poor training or staffing problem. I felt staff were cold and somewhat lost about SOP. Consistency is an issue. You will see same staff serving breakfast and check-in. Rooms are not uniformly equipped. My sons room was practically without airconditioned throughout the stay. Engineers came but never seemed to be able to fix the AC. Breakfast was about the only we came close to be excited about going. Choices of food were fine though this is not exactly moslem-friendly breakfast. As a hardware, i cant quite understand the main design item dominating the hotel, the stone wall enclosing the inner pool and library whose pond roof makes for 80% of the view from the main entrance. I'm not sure whether to appreciate the stack of rocks or the steel cage enclosing the rocks from falling apart. Quite an eye-sore to see everyday. While the rain shower is there to impress the guest, i find every shower to be inconvenient as it wets the entire bathroom floor incl the wash basin part where i need it dry. We stayed there for the new year's eve. For the celebration, The management converted the hotel into what looks like an overnite passing by local theme park where no guest bothers to risk their children riding on the wheel with the dining experience not much different from the breakfast, multiplied 10x in price, in front of a thai-box ring. I cant quite figure out what to make of the usd150/head new year's dinner. But, there was a nice fire work to close the nite and our disappointing stay. Oh..before i forgot, make sure you rent a car for the trip. This hotel is 25km from where you're supposed to be (hua hin) and unless you have a ride of your own, you're at the mercy of pricey hotel transport and their food. Verdict: not recommended at the price we paid.

Stylish hotel but don't stay in block 6

Great hotel and service was flawless. Breakfast very good. The beach is not good but the two fantastic pools make up for it.
I word of warning... We stayed in block 6 which is adjacent to the bar area. We were woken at 5 am by the staff emptying bottles and crushing ice and generally chatting rather loudly. Avoid block 6 unless you want an early start!

Ps free yoga lesson in the morning was good way to start the day.

Where to start....
PROS:
you arrive at the hotel and are welcomed by the hotel manager with a cold drink in one of the most magnificient entrances.
FOOD: Fantastic, both Asian and North American, we tried just about everything on the menu and both the presentation and taste were fantastic. BREAKFAST: Unbelieveable, every choice possible and tasted great. ROOM: Clean. Designed with cement walls and polished cement floors, 12 ft ceillings, they feel and look clean. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is to die for with a fantastic rain shower and huge. You have the choice of German, English, French, Thai channels on the tv as well as the Apple TV for a choice of movies so it is all covered.
POOL AND EXTERIOR: There is an adult pool and a family one as well as a small beach area, with only 70 rms of which 6 have their own pool they were never overcrowded and the only thing that the pool did not offer was to have someone carry you to the water. you lay down and a bottle of water and fresh fruit were brought to you. Relaxing music playing by the adult pool as well as fresh towels.
ACTIVITIES: Free Yoga classes offered by the beach on 4 out of 7 mornings as well as 1 - 2 activities planned per day. Every night a schedule for the following day was left in ones rm with the next days activities, some were free and some had a price. Free shuttles to the two nearest towns (Cha-Am) which we found quite boring and (Hin Hua) which we did not see.
SPA: Services are allright but then again you can never have expectations as things are different all over the world. The Spa area itself is fantastic and the service was great as well.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We were looking for a place to relax and we extended our stay because it was so fantastic and relaxing. Because there are only 70rms it does not feel overrun and with a mix of couples, gay couples, families everyone seems to be on their own schedule. Often we would go to the restaurant and be the only ones. This place is true HEAVEN and you cannot ask for better service, the staff there would put just about every other hotel I have stayed in to SHAME. Well done Hotel de la Paix we will be flying back across the world to stay there again.

PS: We had to move to a bigger room halfway thru because our AC broke down, the next night we got a call asking us if we liked red or white so they could send us a bottle for the inconvenience.

Don't miss out we never wanted to leave and my husband who finds fault with just about every restaurant and hotel we go to had NOTHING bad to say about this place.

A quiet santuary

Lovely location, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Time seem to standstill if you choose not to explore the realm outside. Moments could be spend by the pools, beach and spa. A perfect escape from your daily life.

Cha-Am Hotel, Thailand - food/service

Overall, the Cha-Am was great. However I would cite two things that were not satisfying:
1. When we order a Caesar Salad, I want to EAT it and feel full; what I do not want to do is have to construct the Caesar Salad myself. Just because the chef sees that on popular TV food programs the current craze is to serve the elements of the salad separately and allow the diner to mix the ingredients, this does not mean that I am interested in eating a pretty-looking presentation. Just make the salad for me (for the price, I don't think this is too much to ask), add more ingredients please (it was a bit paltry), and serve it.
2. When my wife and I arrived, we immediately ordered beers and then went out to the beach to sit under a canopy; we waited maybe 10 minutes and still our beers had not arrived. So I walked back to the restaurant and had to remind the waitress (who was sitting in a chair doing nothing) that we had ordered beers. I offered to take the beers back with me so as not to wait any longer, but she insisted that they would deliver them (the beers finally arrived a few minutes later). Maybe this is nickpicking, but after driving all the way from Bangkok, finally arriving at Cha-am, I just wanted to sit on the beach and drink a beer. Why it was so difficult to achieve this (and in low-season when there are very few guests; there were 3 other people out at the beach) is confusing to me. It should not be so difficult a task to accomplish.

Do not waste your money and time there!!!

I wish I knew this before I booked the hotel. The Hotel is expensive, not comfortable, and with impolite staff.
It was under maintenance, but there was no sign of appologies from the hotel. No compensation for the inconveniance. There was no beach to swim with broken steps to the water.
All in all a depressing place with nothing to offer.

Chic and quiet

I love this hotel . It is very relaxing but don't expect there are too many activities at night. There is only one restaurant in the hotel. If you don't go out to downtown. You have to think about having three meals at the same restaurant for the whole day. The hotel provides shuttle to hua hin downtown but only 2 times a day with limited seats. Also, u have to book in an advance. Don't have high expectation on the beach. it is very typical on hua hin resort. I strongly recommend this hotel for couple to stay with or even honeymoon.

The hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The only thing to comment is that it is very isolated. But if you're on a honeymoon or just want to relax it's perfect. The beds are fantastic and even more the pillows. The a/c is a bit too noisy. The shower amazing.
