Room was well maintained. We had an excellent view of the canyon. The food for dinner and breakfast was amazing and the staff were very accommodating. Great service and atmosphere. The only negatives have to do with are the spa area and services. They charge to use the circuit and time limit you. The pools were warm, not hot. Some features didn't work. The Exterior hot tub should have been the crown jewel but it was tepid at best. Best features were the heated lounge chairs and the steam room. We wanted to get a massage but that needs to get booked well in advance, which is frustrating. Still, hiking around and seeing the beautiful landscape was an unforgettable experience. Well worth the stay.

Absolutely outstanding. This has been our favorite Parador to date.

We were driving, and the parking was plentiful, free, and easy (on property, across from the front door).

The setting was unbelievably beautiful. The hiking in the area and the scenic views around the property are breathtaking. We also booked time at the spa, and you should absolutely do this. The outdoor hot tub, the steam rooms, and the hot/cold plunge - everything was fantastic and so relaxing! Definitely worth the 30/40 euros per person. Also, you should join the Paradors club if you haven't already - you'll get discounts on things like the spa.

We had dinner at the restaurant on property, and it was one of the best meals we had in the whole month of traveling around northern Spain. Dine there!

From start to finish, the experience - the whole experience - was wonderful. I highly recommend staying here without any hesitation.

Beautiful parador in an impressive old monastery. If you’re not able to make reservations for dinner online , ask when you check in. Otherwise, there is also a cafe. Onsite underground parking available. Spa was closed during Covid. Fridge and safe in the room. All toiletries including comb, razor toothbrush/toothpaste, shoeshine cloth and kleenex.

Lovely parador with only one mistake we made

It was lovely. The only thing was we purchased an expensive bottle of wine with our dinner after asking if we could take the unfinished bottle with us at the end of our meal. The maitre'd said \"yes\". But, when we finished he took the bottle and we forgot to ask when checking out. It was the most expensive wine on the list (and, yes, it was excellent!) Our mistake! Hopefully, someone is enjoying what we didn't finish as we splurged and wish we had finished it! And, the coffee is THE BEST!

It's an amazing experiend to spend a night in a XII century monastery building. The rooms are comfortable and the building itself feels like being in a museum. Totally recommendable.
The in walk outside grounds it's a must.

Fabulous location

Amazing location and building. Bedrooms on the cosy side compared to other paradors, and more noise can be heard from other rooms.
Free parking in an underground car park.
Breakfast was excellent. Limited options for dinner, we ate in the restaurant and were glad we had a duscount voucher from another parador!

Wonderful Experience

From the moment that you get close to this parador you know that it is going to be different. Nestled into the mountains overlooking the river Sil this old monastery is very special. It has been tastefully converted into a four star hotel and is well worth a detour to visit.

On the day that we stayed the temperatures were in the top 20s and it was a bit too hot to take advantage of the many walks that are accessible directly from the parador. Nevertheless there was plenty to see and explore in the immediate proximity.

The room was well equipped and comfortable whilst, because of the good weather we were able to utilise the external area of the restaurant and thus watch the setting of the sun as we dined.

Where else can you stay in a monastery?

It's incredible that you can stay in such a place at a reasonable price. This whole hotel is an ex monastery that was converted to a hotel. The decorations and ambiance are exquisite. My room was probably one of the quietest places I've ever been in - maybe it's the legacy of the monastery.

Breakfast was great. Dinner was ok but not that special, so next time I would explore some other restaurant in the area - dinner was perfectly fine though.

I had understood that the hotel offered a sauna and hot tub but these were not included in the price. I was very disappointed because I had chosen this parador expressly for this reason
also
the menu is not clear and I believed I was ordering a meal of about 15 euros but the bill was substantially higher.

Wonderful setting could have been great!

Despite being a parador you have to ask for help getting to your room. We don't mind this but when the lighting system needs explaining it is important so we spent the last night with no air con as the only way to switch the lights off was to take the card out and switch the electricity off, to be told the next day 'all you have to do us....' I also question the security, the parador has lots of outside visitors. To get to our room you go through an open door in a corner of the building to reach the corridor, you don't need to go past reception. Restaurant staff were lovely and helpful. Setting wonderful but reception and security will put me off going back.

Lovely Parador - but not that much to do locally

The Parador is a wonderful fusion of modern and old. The monastery has been tastefully modernised into the Parador that it is today. Regrettably there is not that much to do ion the immediate area and most of the better and safer country side walks are not accessible nearby.
We had a Standard Room located at the corner of the property which looked onto the front plaza. I'm not that sure that paying extra for a valley view is worth the additional expense.
The Parador has a Spa - however this is not freely available to guests and a Eur 25 fee (for 2 hrs usage) needs to be paid. Unusual since most hotels with spas that I have stayed at offer free spa access to paying guests.
The Parador restaurant is excellent and offers a great selection of Galician dishes. The wine list too is impressive with a good selection of wines - and in particular those from the Ribera Sacra region..
Car parking can be a challenge. There is very limited open air parking outside the Parador. The Parador has an underground car park but this can get busy as it is also available to non-Parador guests.

Extraordinary stay!

What a lovely stay at a Parador! This area is off the beaten track, an historic building that is so fun to explore. It has several courtyards, a church, wonderful rooms and good food. There are also a few short hiking trails. What a sight to come upon, the monastery rising out of the mist. This was a great stop between Ourense and the road to Leon. There is a gorge close by if you have time to explore. This is a good value for the money. This is a natural area, very peaceful and beautiful. We would have enjoyed being able to spend more than one night here.

Well worth the effort to find

This parador is a real \"find,\" literally. It is a stunningly restored monastery set in a remote location high above the river Sil but it could benefit from better and more frequent signage along the two narrow and winding roads leading to it. Given its location, the restaurant is surprisingly good. Other than the difficulty in finding it via the road from Ourense, my only quibble is that the old stone doors to our room were too low for someone of my height and I cut my head leaving the room when the lights went out immediately after removing the room card from its slot. Still, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Misleading advertising and poor customer service

This hotel is set in a beautiful location in a historic building. The restaurant was great and we really enjoyed our meal there. However, our overall impression is that the hotel staff just don't care. We booked this hotel as a special treat for ourselves and were really looking forward to using the spa facilities after a long day's drive. We then discovered: (1) use of the spa facilities which feature so heavily in its advertising is NOT included in the price. Guests must pay an extra surcharge per day just to use the spa area. Of course treatments are extra but we were stunned that the expensive room price did not even include dipping your toe in the spa. This is blatant misleading advertising. (2) The spa facilities are only open for short periods of time, seemingly 17:00 - 21:00 weekdays and 10:00 - 17:00 on weekends. We find it unbelievable that a place which advertises a 'full service spa' only opens for 4 hours a day weekdays. (3) The spa facilities were completely closed on the weekend we were there because they had decided to do some random maintenance. When we expressed our disappointment, the reception staff actually laughed as if this was funny. When we complained further, they just shrugged their shoulders. You don't have to be a guest to visit the church and building for free or to use the restaurant and that's what we'd advise anyone else to do. Stay in another hotel nearby for a much better price.

The Parador signs on the way to the hotel were not very frequent and the hotel is hard to get to. The drive was quite scary as the 2 way street only fit 1 car and there were no railings on the precipice of the road...

Ein Kritikpunkt gibt es. Das Badezimmer ist bereits etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Ansonsten stimmt in diesem Hotel einfach alles. Das Personal ist ausnahmslos freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.
