If you are looking for a hotel for business trip, I would recommend this hotel. The room is quite good. A lot of restaurant nearby and walking distance to KTCC Mall. Pasar Payang is only 5 minutes away if u need to get something for your family.

Overall it was just an okay stay. The room is quite dusty I guess because we had flu every time we are in the room. The aircond temperature also couldn't be adjusted, you can only adjust the fan whether you want it to be low, medium or high. Other than that it was okay due to this is a very old hotel

LIKE: location, accessibility, easy to get taxi/grab, near to Pasarnita was great, room cleanliness, many power sockets, consideration for 1 hour early check in (at 1pm) due to our tight schedule.

UNLIKE: frontdesk staffs not smiling since arrival until check out. Wearing face mask were not a permission for frontdesk persons not to smiling to hotel guest.

I did’nt have sufficient time to view the other facilities offered by the hotel apart from the hotel room.
the room and amenities are acceptable.
as for breakfast, the foods are okey as well except for the pancake ...
the pancake was hard and did not have the taste and texture of the usual pancake that we normally have.
It taste like our local ‘lemping’ which we add in the onion and enchovy and and usual served with sambal chili but they served it with syrup...haaaa
the also served a local dish call ‘pulut’ to be eaten with a thumb size fried dried fish but they only offed the fish head with some part of the collar and pretty tough as well, at least they could have offered the body of the fish to us...
the egg section was good both for the service and product.
fruits was good as well despite they only offered us the water melon and rock melon
only.

The stay was ok but the breakfast was terrible. Can you immagine breakfast without egg station? The chicken sausages tasted funny, not sure if it is bad though. Didn’t want to finish it after one bite. Will stay at other hotel if I am ever in KT again.

The check in, the room n location was good. However it was spoilt by the breakfast. At 6.50 am, when we arrived, there was no staff to seat us. As such, I still have the breakfast coupons with me. The juice was like a cordial only. The fruits served were not sweet n succulent. I wanted half boiled eggs, and I remarked to the chef at the egg station that it was already cold.... they just looked at me. I then ask for fried eggs and that was it. I was put off by the service and quality of food served at breakfast.

Reception staff not exactly welcoming and didn’t provide any information about breakfast times, hotel facilities etc. The hotel entrance has a dated feel and it gets much worse when you get to the bedroom. The room was well worn and battered, the towels were old and grey, mould in the bathroom around the bath, some lights didn’t work and the windows were dirty. The only good thing about the room was that the air conditioning worked well.

Breakfast buffet selection was quite good but poor quality and most of the hot food was cold. The coffee has the colour and consistency of old engine oil and didn’t taste much better. The toaster was dirty and rusty - really awful.

The hotel swimming pool was the best feature of the hotel and there is ample undercover parking.

Staff does not know what is the hospitality

Room was clean and confortable, although the amenity was poor. The attitudes of hotel staff at the reception was terrible. Although the hotel charges had been prepaid, another deposit of RM100 was claimed to pay at the check-in, and this would be refunded 7days after check-out. The tourism tax of RM10 was paid at check-out, but there was not any explanation about the tax at the time of check-in. These payments are acceptable because they are a rule. But the attitude of staff at hotel front was blunt. They never smiled and never said \"Thank you\".

hotel itself is ordinary. quite old and parking also limited. but cleanliness is good. friendly staff and helpful staff at the counter but NOT the bellboy. didn't even offer help to lift some bags. can improve on the overall taste of the breakfast food. if there are many luggage or stuff, might choose to drop at the lobby first before parking because no elevator from the parking lot.

Hotel staff were friendly. Nothing within the vicinity in terms of food or amenities. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning was great. Other than that, the hotel needs a major revamp. It's extremely old in both interior and exterior. This made the pricing of the hotel not worth it at all. Wifi was okay and available within hotel area.

Hotel Needs Serious Refurbishment

The only reason my family and I picked this hotel was because of its distance from the jetty; We were scheduled to board the 9 AM ferry to Pulau Redang the next day.

Hotel was run-down. Everything about it looked tired; The beds were uncomfortable, the bed sheets were disgusting, the bathroom was too tiny for comfort, and the television was ancient and ought to be thrown out the window.

Thank God we were only there for a night!

Pleasantly surprised with the hotel's condition and the staff welcome after reading the reviews on Hotels.com (only 3.5) prior to booking the hotel.

It seems that the hotel has been newly renovated, the furniture in the spacious room in very good condition with a quite comfortable bed to sleep and a cosy 3 seater sofa to relax in. Dinner at the restaurant was enjoyable with the live duo singing in Malay and English.

We spent most of our time in the hotel as it was a stop over in our trip around Malaysia. We would have happily stayed another night had we have more time over our trip.
Overall it was a good value for money stay.

-The front desk team are nice, polite and professional.
-Breakfast was good.
-Hotel room was big. The bed was comfortable. They also gave a specialize pillow for bath tub. Very relaxing.
-A lot of power plugs (3-4). So very convenient for business trip travelers or family.

Cons
-Parking lot was strange. 30 degree angle slope parking.
-There is no lift directly to parking lot from lobby nor room. So have to take the stairs to lobby and then take the lift to room.
-Air condition only have 3 speed (slow, medium and blizzard speed)
-The shower looks a bit shabby. Please change the shower head. Too old school.
-The TV reception. Bad. Even after the technician came and try to fix it, still the same. The reason gave was wind was blowing the aerial. It is 2016. Nobody uses aerial anymore. Please signed a contract with a cable TV company.

Overall.
This hotel have been here for more than 10 years. So everything looks classic. It was a good experience and I feel I will come again. However, vintage furniture and old technology needed to be maintain or change. This is where Grand Continental lacks.

We stayed there for the sole purpose of being closed to the jetty pier to Redang. It is NOT within walking distance, especially not with suitcases in hot summer days... Hotel is ok, restaurant next to it ( the Kitchen, is really not good. If you are not going to Redang, no reason to stay there....

The hotel is old and located in an awful surrounding area which is littered with rubbish and construction materials. Please avoid this horrible hotel. It is also quite a distance away from the downtown or Chinatown. Buffet breakfast was extremely bad where the food is oily and not fresh. Instant coffee and tea was served. Staff in the restaurant was extremely rude especially the waitress who never gave way to her guests when walking to the waitress station.
