We absolutely loved this hotel. It was a fabulous location, easy to walk to all the main attractions in the city. Also, our room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was extremely attentive, friendly and did great at offering recommendations for food and shopping.

What a pleasant stay! The hotel is so convenient to everything and a nice easy walk to downtown, all of our favorite restaurants, and the kiosko outside the hotel is so convenient for beverages anytime of the day. Rooms were spacious and breakfast option was simple.
Only thing is the bed was not the best. Definitely needs to improve the mattress before we come back and stay.

For a hotel that claims to be ‘upscale’ they are severely lacking in basic services that most hotels offer guests worldwide; like shipping expensive forgotten items COD for guests. Instead I am forced to figure out how to hire a courier service in a country where I barely speak the language, completely blind to what size ‘box’ the hotel will be using to give my items to the courier.

Good location, good vibe and friendly staff

The hotel is located only a few blocks from the main street so it's easy to get to get to stores, landmarks, the local market, bakeries and restaurants. The hotel is clean and has a nice vibe in the reception and bar area. The staff was very help with questions and even provided us with a snack bag to take with us when we checked out early to catch our plane. So thoughtful. The hotel was popular when we were there with many visitors. A nice breakfast buffet too. For the price we paid it was a good deal and I recommend it.

Great hotel for central Catania

Pietro and Maria Annarita were superb in helping us achieve 2 days of trips plus a car to Palermo (chauffeured). The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. I will re-book this hotel next visit.

Good hotel, above average in Catania. Very comfortable bed and pillows, very clean and quiet rooms. No airconditioning available in November and the room was hot at night. Opening the window was an option but no breeze came through and the streets below are very noisy, light sleepers should be aware.

For a 4 star hotel this property is a joke. They keep the centralized ac temp around 27. The rooms smell like mold and are old and run down. Bed is hard and sheets stank. Really not what you'd expect. Besides the fact that the laundry was well priced and breakfast was mediocre, the staff were good

Check in and out process was good, lobby is modern and clean, breakfast had a lot of options to pick from. My room was too warm and my attempts to adjust the temperature setting in the room didn’t work. I called the front desk and she said she could adjust it from her end, which brought it down by 1 degree. It was comfortable enough but I would have preferred adjusting it to my liking instead of being at the mercy of the front desk. In the bathroom, the paint was peeling from the ceiling and when I went to wash my hands at the sink, the water would not drain. Again I called the front desk. They sent someone quickly to look at the sink. He ran the water for 2 or 3 seconds and said it was draining fine. I explained that actually using the sink involved more than a brief running of water and after showing him that when running the water for a practical amount of time resulted in a backed up sink, he proceeded to plunge the sink. After fixing the sink, he was going to leave the sink without cleaning it. I had to ask him to have someone come and clean it for me after which he proceeded to spray it down and cleaned it himself. In the end, everything was satisfactory, but definitely could have been a better experience.

Room amenities not as advertised on the website. Chose this hotel because the room was advertised with air-conditioning. The room was too warm when I arrived, but been told by the reception there is no air-conditioning during winter time and only heater is available. The receptionist said there is nothing else they can do and three is no apology at all. End up with open the windows for the whole night every night and keep waking up by the noise from traffic outside (car horns, ambulance/police car sirens etc.). Cannot get a good sleep at all. Overall the hotel is disappointing and not 4 star at all.

The hotel seemed dated for the price. We had no TV remote control in the room which I reported to reception, but when I tried to return to the room all the lifts had broken down. Reception had said they would send someone up with a new remote control, but presumably they were busy fixing the lift so we went to bed eventually without a remote for the TV as we had an early start the next day.

The hotel is in the center of time and has modern amenities. It was the perfect location for a woman traveling solo and wanted to explore the center of Catania without worrying about the area and safety concerns. I will definitely stay here again if even in Catania.

I came from the US and was not aware of the need for an adapter for using electronic devices. I went to the agent. She was willing to lend me one but was immediately stopped by her manager. They are not going to help you in any way. Need to pay for everything, using a water kettle, breakfast, using an adapter, etc. In the end, my friend helped me get one adapter from her Best Western hotel. Go there!

The hotel is very modern and clean with comfortable rooms. No one told us about the 1st floor service elevator to get our bags up (no bell service)--we dragged our bags up a flight of about 6 steps to get to the elevator. Had some difficulty connecting to wi-fi that staff was unable to help with. I was certain I had booked for included breakfast but upon check in we were told \"no\" and that it would cost 17 euros per person with a prior reservation. Irritated, we went elsewhere on day one and spent 32 euros on breakfast elsewhere (3 people). On day 2, as we checked out, we again asked why no included breakfast and were told by a different person \"yes of course it is included\"! Staff needs to be more careful!

This hotel did not come across as a 4star by any means. The carpet in out room had several bleach stains and were shabby.
The breakfast table need cleaning and the breakfast eggs were burnt and not edible.
On our checkout day we were stranded in the elevator for several minutes and no one answered the alarm, we finally managed bu banging and pulling the door to exit the elevator. When i mentioned this to the receptionist she answered yes we know and have called someone. as it turns out the other people staying there were also stuck in the same elevator, so I question why they did not put up a do not use sign to prevent others from being stranded.
All in all our worst booking on our 3 week trip through Italy and Sicily

Great Location for a lovely time in Catania

The NH catania centro is located only a few blocks from the main shopping street ETNA that would take you right into the center of town (the piazza dell Duomo). very nice street with lots of cafes, shops and restaurants. most of it its pedestrian only.
The hotel had a very good wifi signal, spacious room, clean and very comfortable bed. the only issue we found its that the bathroom kept making this weird noise but I guess that is just a plumbing issue. If you get to Catania by air, the hotel is located 15 mins away from the airport and the taxi its a 20 euros flat rate. or if you get to the bus or train station, you could jump on the bus which I don't remember the number and it would take you to the hotel in 10 mins.
Staff was amazing, very friendly and courteous. I would definitely stay there again.

Meh. Rooms are fairly nice and large, everything else very 3 star. Elevator is slow. Not much food in hotel, no real bar only an uncomfortable seating area in the lobby. Not many good restaurants and nothing much to do nearby. Wireless connectivity in rooms is on/off again. Front desk staff are warm bodies, not very interested/accommodating. The feeling is they have something else they are actually or would rather be doing other than looking after your needs...

The NH Catania is a good choice for a stay in Catania. As other reviewers have noted, it's in a quieter part of the city, right by bus stops for the airport and city buses. You can walk to the historic center or train/bus station in about 20-25 minutes. It's a newer hotel, and room/facilities are fine. The hotel staff were all friendly enough. As others reported, the breakfast does emphasize baked goods - but they're quality baked goods. The restaurant is OK - there aren't too many other eating options close by.

Catania is a compact city and easy to get around. The market which is daily is well worth experiencing. My wife bought loads of clothes for our young grandchildren. The restaurants are all good and quite cheap. I recommend this city. Airport not far away. Under 20 euros for the taxi.

A dreadful Stay

The receptionist did nit have a good grasp of English when checking in.
The room temperature in the bedroom was 27 degrees we contacted reception who said they would fix it at reception she asked what temperature we would like we said 21/22 15 minutes later the temperature was 28.5 and getting hotter we opened the window and bedroom door to try and cool the room down. Not a good nights sleep. next day we went to reception and she informed us the problem would be fixed. We returned to the hotel late around 10 pm to find the room temperature at 27.5 we contacted reception once again she said she would switch of the A/c. 30 minutes later still at 27/28 degrees called to reception she said she would send someone to look at the controls The gentleman came into the room pressed a few buttons and said he would sort it at reception 30 minutes later still 27 degrees called reception who then said we would have to move rooms!! it was after 11.00 pm we were then called back to say they were switching on the a/c in reception and this would solve the problem!!. A dreadful stay in an hotel who;s air conditioning can not be operated by the staff. Breakfast was very bad with no tables available we had to clean a table to use to have our breakfast. We did inform reception of our experience on check out but I am not sure he understood us.

Generally a good experience, with the main downside being that I was given a smoking room even though I am a non smoker so there was a slight smell of smoke when first entering the room. The wifi worked in the room on the first day but then stopped working although it worked in reception and the restaurant.

I have stayed at several NH Hotels. This is the best amongst them.
The card-key did not work so I had go up and down to reception to get it fixed. They couldn't and eventually gave a normal door key to use. Unlike similar hotels there was no computer to use. There was free wifi and you had to use your smart phone. They were helpful and pleasent at the reception.
It was a bit off the city center, so walking back after dinner did not feel safe enough.In our previous stay we stayed at the UNA hotel on Via Etna, which was by far cheaper/better located/with nicer roof top restaurant facing Mt Etna.

Stayed with my son for 5 days. Very friendly and helpful staff (reception, restaurant and cleaners). The breakfasts were excellent, so much choice. We ate in a couple of times in the evening and again the food was excellent. We had deluxe single rooms which were comfortable especially the bed, quiet and clean. Our rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard. The Hotel is well situated in Catania. The only negative thing was the limited parking at the hotel. However, I only had to park on the street for one night. If you have to do the same, then make sure it's a 'Blue Bay', it was cheap compared to the UK.

Well situated for airport transport via the Alibus. Clean and efficient. Breafast could be improved - often items were running low and didn't get replaced so choice was limited.

Please can kettles be placed in rooms! There was a large UK ladies group staying at the same time who all bemoaned the fact that they couldn't have a cuppa tea!

A Catania Hotel with Class

An excellent hotel good position for excellent shopping a bus to the beach and a good walk to the centre of town. The staff were terrific although the breakfast staff were all encompassing. Close position to the train and bus. The rooms were good and clean with good facilities. The. breakfast was filing with excellent food. The hotel ris good and clean. We woul recommend this hotel to our friends.

This is a lovely hotel in the city centre and perfect for the airport bus as it stops right outside the hotel.
Far too hot in the room for winter season and no way of controlling the temperature , Asked at reception but nothing they can do about it, so had to sleep with the window open and disturbed by the road traffic. The breakfast is lovely with a huge choice and room service until 11pm was great
