First we came no electricity no towels TV doesn’t work and the telephone doesn’t work every time I have to go two story down to the front desk and tell them I didn’t have towels or electricity or telephone doesn’t work or AC doesn’t work. It wasn’t pleasant at all.

The property is good overall . It needs a little remodeling in my opinion. The rooms were spacious , jacuzzi in the room was a pleasant surprise and relaxing.
The hotel had good amenities like a restaurant inside the property with good food, including vegetarian options , a spa with a good masseuse, mini golf, a good pool with slides , etc.

However , the downside was that toilets and bathroom didn’t have an exhaust fan and was not pleasant . We had to leave our windows open so we could have some fresh air.

Excellent staff manners - they were really helpful and accommodating. Nice suite, very clean. The free breakfast buffet was awesome, great assortment of breakfast food. The dinner menu (extra $) is awesome. I ordered a steak dinner which was perfectly done (med rare) and large portions. All in All,, I recommend this hotel if you're touring the iguazu falls (AR side)

While the property was clean it appears is if they have skipped updates and maintenance for the last 20years. Things are very out dated. Towel rack falling off in bathroom, safe in room hanging off wall about to fall off. The restaurant was sufficient but nothing over the top.

This is an old hotel showing signs of age, but comfortable and clean.
The main issue was that the room didn't have hot water. I reported the problem, and I was told a maintenance person would take care, but nothing happened. Instead of changing room, which was the fast solution, we did not have hot water until the next day.
The service in the cafeteria was too slow, even when they were not busy.

This is a terrible run down facility. The carpets, furniture, windows, tables are all dirty. Nothing works, not even the TV works properly. This is advertised as 5 star hotel but it is not even 1 star. The people that work there tomare nice but they all do many different task at the same time that can not do more. Pool is dirty and lacks chlorine. There are cats running in the dining room. There is no amount low enough you can pay to make this a decent value for your money

Situated on large grounds the property is undergoing much needed renovation. The personal is very nice and they are doing their best to communicate and help. There are no surroundings. Need a taxi to anywhere. The pool needs to be cleaned. The breakfast was acceptable, dinner somehow limited in options. We found it a bit overpriced for the conditions

This hotel was terrible, and I’m surprised at the rating that has been given to it. The hotel was run down and had flies and ants everywhere. Lighting was very poor in the room. Hotel also lacked basic amenities and was just dirty. For example, the room didn’t even have hand towels. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly not be returning.

Iguaçu resort motel good for family’s n’ children

Very nice swimming pool, friendly staff, located just outside town of Foz de Iguazu, but room was alittle musty smelling with mildew and plumbing was alittle old. Hot water was plentiful after 3-4 minutes of running the faucets. Also, electricity goes out frequently for 3-5 minutes in evenings. But overall pretty good for the price.

Was actually better than what I expected..I’ve stayed in more expensive hotels in Argentina that were a whole lot less appealing than this hotel.
Breakfast was a little disappointing but that all depends on the menu of the day.. staff were friendly and hotel was spacious..a little more than in the pics online.

It used to be 5 stars hotel but not today. It is not 3 stars hotel nowaday as well. Some more than 3.5 stars but nor 4 stars. It escapes rating. Hotel needs refurbishment but on the other side rooms are spacious, separate bath and WC, safe in the room, minibar and fridge, outdoor and indoor swimming pool, etc. Overall rating is a bit more than good.

A OK hotel, good staff, not bad breakfast and dinner on offer. Short walk to the nearest “supermercado”.
Good swimming pool and some games for kids ( would be good to refresh sport facilities and equipment though.. ). Rooms are good size but overall have feel of being outdated and in need of fresh paint. Iguazu Falls are awesome though and that compensates everything else.

I wouldn't stay here again...

The location was fine and the staff were generally pretty helpful. That being said, although it shows they have WiFi, they only had it in the lobby and 80% of the time it didn't work there. When it did work, it was too slow to get anything done anyway. Also, the cleanliness of the rooms certainly left something to be desired. (Ex. there were clumps of hair on the floor of our room when we arrived.) Also the blankets on the bed were ragged and worn...they were more like you would expect at a cheap motel than a hotel. Also, the power went out every day we were there.

Though they show they are a 4/5 star hotel, I believe they deserve a much lower rating.

The Good and the Bad

I should first of all express my appreciation for the hotel management being lenient in light of the Aerolineas Argentinas strike which disrupted our plans. They were flexible and let us move forward our 5 days without losing our room or our money. That said, there was no free airport ride, and no room Internet (it was promised, but only a very spotty front lobby wi-fi was available).

This hotel is out of town, so you need to pay for taxis to go to restaurants, the airport and the National Park. Buses are cheap, but a pain to catch in the heat. They do have an excellent buffet for breakfast and dinner if you want to avoid Puerto Iguazu.
Obtaining cash is very difficult, so bring plenty with you from Santiago. Most restaurants take credit card, but prefer tips in cash.

The facilities are tired and need updating. Bathroom and sheets were clean but the carpet was stained and dirty. Air conditioning worked which helped. Breakfast buffets was fine, plenty of food, not many hot selections. Didn't know that dinner buffet was included. Tried it once but are in town the other two nights. Outside of town so need to take bus, Remis or taxi or to the park. Did not try the pool but many people did.

IF YOURE AMERICAN, AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS

So, the only reason why I booked a few nights at this hotel was because of the reviews, which were mostly positive. Boy was I wrong. The condition of the place is in total disrepair. The wifi doesn't work AT ALL. Anywhere in the hotel. I asked two people at the front desk, but I wasn't able to get any help, because NO ONE SPEAKS A WORD OF ENGLISH AT THIS HOTEL. Literally, no one. How do you have a large resort in a 100% tourist town without anyone who can speak English? In my broken Spanish, I was able to ascertain that not only does the internet not work, it hasn't worked in over a year. But it gets worse. MUCH WORSE. During our first night, the phone rang in our room EVERY FIVE MINUTES from 1-6AM. You heard that right. I got up in the middle of the night, went downstairs (no one answers calls), and asked. They said it was a hotel-wide problem and they didn't know how to stop it. Awesome. Night 2 was as bad as night 1. The A/C didn't work (I forgot to mention that earlier), the fan in the room didn't work, the shower had no water pressure at all, and the carpet AND the sheets had stains on them. The next morning we woke up and had bed bug bites all over our bodies. Don't try and save money by staying at this dump. I thought it would be somewhere comparable between a Motel 6 and a Hampton Inn. Haha! It was 10 times worse than any Motel 6 I've ever stayed in. If you're American, and are used to some bare minimum comforts, avoid this place at all costs.

Thank you so much, in genral it was good. Te hotel is good located. Unfortunately I have some observation. the WIFI feature was not available during 2 days in the first asigned room. After I complaint I was moved to other room and was solved. I consider that based on tecnological point of view the facilities are obsolete. The metal keys are very inconvinient. the umbrellas in the swiming pool had holes. the games saloon does not have air conditioner.

Good Review from a Tough Critic

I'm a pretty tough critic and I would still rate this a strong 4 stars. Staff was very friendly, spoke Spanish, Portuguese and English (very helpfull#. On-site excursion booking. Breakfast was great! Dinner was great and very reasonable. Pool was very refreshing. Close to the best side of the falls #Brazil was nice but Argentina has my vote!). The only advice I can give to people giving negative reviews about this hotel would be...immurse yourself in the local culture, if you want everything just as it is at home...STAY HOME. I can't say enough good things about our stay here. If we were to go back to Iguazu we would certainly stay here again.

Hotel Cataratas is a very quaint resort hotel that has something for everyone, including, swimming pools, spas, gym and walking paths. The rooms were very clean and quiet. The free breakfast was excellent. The hotel is on the main highway, and the bus stop to town and the falls is in front of the hotel. The hotel staff spoke very good English, that is very helpful.

A short walk into the town of Puerto Iguazu but nowhere near the actual falls. Taxis abound, however, and it's fairly inexpensive to get around. Exchange rates are pretty variable. Saw a 2x difference depending on where you are. Often--not always--dollars are appreciated.

Restaurant has lavish buffet breakfast and also for dinner opening around 8PM. Can also order off the menu.

Coffee shop/bar also has good food and is open many more hours than the main restaurant.

Capacious refrigerator in room. No coffee service.

A/C functioned well.

My family and I stayed overnight and had a pleasant one at the Hotel Cataratas. Check-in and check-out were fast and easy. Our luggage were immediately brought to our room. The next day, we needed a service vehicle to take us to the falls then straight to the airport, and the front desk arranged for everything at a reasonable price. All went well.

I would reccomend this hotel to my family.

The hotel experience was great. We enjoyed our stay here. They had a spa, a pool (very chilly), a game room, and a mini golf course. It was a fun place. Our room had a great air conditioner, the TV worked and we had lots of channels. The beds were very comfortable, and the whole hotel was very clean. The refrigerator was noisy. It caused us some embarrassment when we found a refrigerator full of stuff. We had never seen the frig stocked by the hotel before, and we thought that the previous occupant must have left it by accident. Being thirsty, we sampled the bottled water in the frig, and later found the notice that the it was stocked by the hotel for our convenience so we could buy the refreshment. OOPS!

Other than that the facilities, pool etc were all of a good to very good standard, although the bar/restaurant at night is not a place for anyone under middleage and beyond (escape to town!). The cost of transportation to and from the park was 100 to 200 pesos per day for two people, which makes the price and convenience of an in-park hotel more appealing

5 stars seems to be given out to anything in Argentina

We were told this Hotel is a 5 Star Hotel. Upon arrival it was apparent that this was no where close to a 5 Star rating. Beds, sheets, pillows, carpet, etc.... all dirty, old and down right scary. The price on the Hotel was highway robbery. The only benefit is that it was close to Iguazu Falls. I would not recommend this to anyone.... however I don't know if any of the other Hotels in that area are any better.

Room was from 70' with fitted carpet, also from 70', with stains so we used shoes all the time. Maybe they had not cleaned the room after last guests, there was hair in the bathroom walls, dead fly beside the sink etc. Breakfast was nice, also the pool area. Staff was unpolite, almost rude. Good bus connection to iguazu falls!

Value for money

The hotel is well located, walking distance to the town and easy to get to and from the falls and airports. Rooms are pleasant and the hotel is good value overall.

Just as nice and friendly the second time there

We had been to Hotel Cataratas before, many years ago. They have maintained the property very well and though the hotel is not new and modern so to speak, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are great to deal with. They have a remises/taxi service available at the hotel and we have found it a great way of seeing not only the falls but it has allowed us to visit many other attractions over 100 kilameters away.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Helped with confirming airline reservations and securing zipline / jungle tour adventure. Breakfast buffet had a lot of variety and was good. Restaurant was just ok for dinner. Hotel offers driver services to anywhere you want to go: (Iguazu Park, mines, etc.) However, compared to local bus and taxis, this driver service is quite expensive. The local bus service is just fine and stops in front of the hotel.
The price is a good value.

Cataratas Hotel Iguazu

I won't recommend this hotel since:
- They promise wireless internet and there are some rooms where it didnt have signal. Mine per example .
- Since Iguazu is an international tourism destination, they dont have electricity convertors available.
- Room smelled like a cigarrete even when I asked for a non smoking room.
- Carpet was a mess.

Better than expectations

Some poor reviews online but as always you get what you pay for . We had a very good experience staying here...the staff did everything they could to help..it is a short , cheap cab ride into the town...on the road to the falls...really nice pool and lots of space for our kids to run around. Even the much criticized breakfast buffet was very good. If the hotel had some serious money spent on it they would charge twice the price. Good mid price option to see the amazing falls.

5 stars??? No way!!!

This hotel is far from being a 5-star facility. It has a good location (don't attempt to take a cab to the falls from there, they rip you off!! take the bus instead), but they never changed our towels, cold water was not working, door knob was broken and the buffet is USD 35 per person and mediocre. The price/quality relation is definitely bad.

OK to stay for 2-3 nights

This is typical 2.5-3 star hotel. The hotel is pretty old but rooms are clean and spacious. Air conditioner wasn't working in our room, they moved us to another room after 1hr of waiting.
Staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast is OK but not too much selection.
The only thing that possibly wasn't OK: They charged us 35 pecos (~$9) for one bottle of water from room bar.
