It was an not a modern building which I like. The only thing that I did not like was the Front office check in staff who were not accommodating. It was a great pity as the rest of the staff were awesome.

The property was quite good with a very nice environment.
However, we had to cancel the booking done through Expedia as Expedia has sub-contracted our reservations through Neckermann Reisen and did not even inform us.
Due to Thomas Cook Group insolvency, the hotel was not willing to honour the reservation, for which we had already paid for.
I wrote to Expedia on this and up to now not received any response. WE HAD TO PAY TO THE HOTEL A SECOND TIME DIRECTLY COSTING A LOT OF MONEY ?????

Excellent hotel in the location

Pleasant stay at Tangerine with helpful reception staff. Food is easily available with options outside of the hotel limited unless you venture out somewhere. Amenities around the pool are good with a bar, cafe and gym.

A place to unwind and relax.

Ideal location and beach is next to hotel. Distant to city is convenient and transportation are good. Breakfast is good and variety of choices. Staff are very polite and friendly.

It was clean but all rooms smells of damp to the point you can not sleep because you feel it in your lungs!
Staff serving pool area are very rude people, they treat badly Womens and but ignore the same man behave! I felt like I am lady and have rights in their hotel because I am not man! I was removed from pool for wearing top in pool ( the man shouted at me loudly to go out) then after my complain to manager staff realised I am not at wrong and they allowed me to use it. Few days later I could see Sri Lankan men wearing cotton top in he pool ( it is not hygienic for pool) but nobody told him to go out of pool. Also I complained twice that men was smoking in the pool and nobody sorted it out. Cigarette ash was in the pool from his cigaret but it did not bother staff at all. I was told they will tell him not to but then he stayed whole day in the pool smocking and it was ignored by staff!
This is our first out of 20 hotels where we stayed and felt terrible and upset every few days. Unfortunately we stayed 3 weeks there and had to put up with it ! If you want nice calm holidays do not choose this hotel. They are better hotels where actually woman is the same important as man!

Overall it was a good place for the price we got. In room dinning was superb. But dinner buffet was not that good, didnt have much options. Breakfast was good. Good staff, friendly.

Ideal for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Staff very attentive and the Resident Manager went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. However, absence of a lift and numerous steps to climb made it less friendly to senior citizens The manager did say that steps are being taken to rectify these shortcomings

Lovely hotel with a decent gym and pool!

Lovely hotel, good selection of food for breakfast compared to other hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka, great staff, best gym in a the hotels we stayed in and a lovely large pool. Our room was a duplex with the bed on a mezzanine floor and a second washroom upstairs and we had a fab sea view to watch the sunset from our balcony. The room was dated looking, I believe the hotel was built some time ago, but that didn't bother us as was clean and housekeeping was great. The only downside for us was the location, not much outside the hotel, the beach was a bit scruffy and the railway ran nearby. Some decent small restaurants nearby but if staying for a week or two theres not a lot in walking distance.

Property was at it was described and room had nice view as it was promised. Their buffet food was not that good or at least it was different.

Their staff was nice with exception of the front desk and guest services which were very bad. They need a major improvement in that area.

Enjoyable one night stay

I was given a fairly small room with 2 beds on the ground floor, which had direct access to the garden area. The room was clean although the large mirror fogged up when you opened the door leading to the garden. Had to call housekeeping to come and clean it but it soon happened again. Chairs in the room were very uncomfortable so couldn`t sit there for long. WiFi is available in the bar/restaurant areas but the signal did not extend to the room.
The pool area was great ...nice big pool with bar attached. There is also easy access onto the beach.
The buffet breakfast provided a good choice although there was indifferent service from the young waiter who seemed to lack training. Felt that I just wasn`t important to him.
All in all I enjoyed my stay but left feeling that there may be better service at other nearby hotels. Will certainly try another one next time.

Everything in the hotel was great apart from food.

They had a small variety of food. It is a beachside hotel but had no seafood. Also, some of the food wasn’t even cooke dproperly. My son bit into a sausage and it was too hard to eat.

Lovely hotel next to the beach

Had a good time staying here for 4 nights, especially since it was New year for them at the time.Food was excellent and staff very attentive.Rooms are a good size with nice big balconies overlooking the sea and beach,the only thing is that they are a bit tired looking and the bathrooms need updating.Also it is a pity you can't swim in the sea.

Very friendly hotel staff couldn’t be more helpful

The hotel itself was good but we only stayed b&b. It seemed that most were full board. The 2 criticisms we had were that it lacked decent music for younger people in the evenings and outside of the hotel very few choices of decent restaurants.

2 night stay, staff went over and beyond when finding out my daughter's birthday in providing a cake as a surprise.
Our Rooms on the first floor smelt of damp but they were changed with no issue when brought to staffs attention.
Breakfast was extensive and good.
Ate in the restaurant one evening, mixed results. Two of us had a nice meal the others not.
This however has been a common theme throughout our journeys in Sri lanka. Timings are out. Would say only place to have warm plates for warm food.

Great Sea view and Pool.

Excellent location with easy access and views of the Indian Ocean. Great pool too. Rooms are nice and clean and we had a lucky break too when we were upgraded to a suite that had the bed set up as in a loft with living and TV at the entrance level.
The food and the service though was below par. During the 2 days we never had our orders for food and drinks served less than in 45 minutes and that too was afrer repeated reminders. This was really annoying specially when this happens at thier coffee shop and a le cart restaurants.
Overallthis hotel need to up their F&B forte 2 or 3 notches if they want repeat customers.

Good choice in the poor Sri Lankan hotel base

Sri Lanka offers a very limited quality hotel base and many properties are overpriced, badly managed, filthy and run down. Therefore whatever this hotel has to offer should be appreciated. I stayed in a suite and the room service and room quality was very good. The only hiccup was that the temperature control on th AC unit didn't work so we could either run it on full power or switch it off. The regular deluxe rooms though have a very small and aging bathroom. The beach in front of the hotel is not the best for swimming becasue or a steep sea access and high waves. Other beaches in Sri Lanka that are secluded in a bay have a blue and calm water. But the hotel pool is very nice and I only swam in the pool. Overall the room and restaurant staff were very friendly. Buffet breakfast had good choice of food although the Sri Lankan dishes were unnecessarily very spicy. If they want the foreigners to enjoy the local food they should simply skip the copious amounts of chilli than ruin the taste and the stomach. Without chilly the dishes could be very tasty and healthy.

Enjoyable few days

Room was immaculate and comfortable. Pool was enticing. Service was great. Food was ok, but would have been nice to have had some of the beautiful local desserts on the buffet. Staff extremely helpful when we had a problem with the car. We had a great stay once again - enjoyed our previous holiday here as well. Would recommend gladly.

Beach and close to town

Reading some of the reviews before I stayed at this hotel made me wonder if I was going to have a pleasant experience; I'm so glad to report that I could not be happier of my decision of staying here; personnel is kind, and naturally caring, I felt like they were looking after me at all times and that's rare in a lot of resorts. Kudos to personnel. Beach and good at this hotel are definitely remarkable and worth going back. See you next year! Thank you Tangerine Beach resort!

Room smelled terribly of damp, within few hours dampness penetrated contents of suitcase. Headache from the bad smell. Floor was wet and sticky. When we got home, everything in suitcase was damp and had that horrible smell!

Nice quiet hotel near to the beach. Room cleaning is twice a day, friendly staff. Breakfast is a bit same type, but a lot of fruits. Nevertheless, the chef is perfect. The hotel is old, but keeping in a good condition. Check-in is strongly near 12, even the hotel is partially occupied. The beach is clean, the territory guards day and night. Everyday live music. Wi-Fi is not bad, but not always stable.

Good and bad.

The music to accompany the water aerobics was a little obtrusive as played at high volume and you could hear it even in your room.

Food/menu options could have included a few more Sri Lankan dishes.

Beautiful hotel but not 4 star

The hotel is beautiful with a great pool and right on the beach, food was average at best and the service left alot to be desired. A bottle of water was not provided in the room,service in the restaurnt was very slow, I had finished my starter by the time the water I ordered when I sat down was served and to top it off I was asked to sign for my meal in the middle of my main course which shocked me. Free wifi is available in the coffee shop area only and turned off at 10pm each night. No other wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Amazing place for relaxation!

Booked this place for a bit of an R&R, and it was perfect! Staff was amazingly helpful and cheerful. Food was great! Amenities were above expectation. Services like spa and massages were great. The only issue is, WiFi was not available everywhere. Had to keep going to the cafe to get free WiFi. Paid WiFi was there, but I felt that that service should be free as well. Weather wasn't that great when I went there. Beach is not a swimming beach for sure. Apart from that, I had an amazing stay! I would definitely stay here again!

Could be good, but . . .

Nice location and nice pool. Rates were reasonable. Good food. Rooms are adequate. We had two single beds and they tried to up-sell us when we got there. We stuck with the two single beds. A/C never really did a good job. I don't know if it was only our room or if all rooms share the same issue. The gift shop was ice cold, though. Great deal with the included breakfast buffet. Excellent buffet. They also have a dinner buffet that was very good.They have a picture of a Jacuzzi on their web site, but it is NOT for all guests. They DO NOT have a hot tub. The Jacuzzi is exclusively for those that pay for the spa services. I got a good massage at a good price. My wife had a manicure and pedicure, but the polish they used was bad. It was bubbled and ridged. They tried it again with a new bottle and same issue. Spa manager refused to consider a refund. He said, 'that is not how we do things here'. It peeled off two days later when we got home.
The lounge has live music every night with good music. Most of the guests are from Russia and don't speak English, so we didn't really talk to anyone. The guests there didn't seem very social, but the staff is pure Sri Lanka. All of them greet you with sincere smiles at all times and are a pleasure to meet. The beach can be quite turbulent at times. We were there in October and it was very aggressive. Not for the little ones or the weak. Nice location with a nice little strip of shops on the road to the main road.

Pekny hotelovy komplex, dobra restaurace hned naproti hotelu, trochu boj o lehatka. Pláz ztrhlo moře, ale opravuji pristup k mori jinak kousek vedle hotelu plaze ok jen trochu vlny.

Es war schön, dass das Zimmer etwas früher bezogen werden konnte. Ansonsten war der kurze Aufenthalt vor dem Rückflug insgesamt okay, entsprach aber keinesfalls unseren Erwartungen. Das Personal war nicht sehr serviceorientiert. Frühstück mittelmäßig und sehr viel Trubel. Leider auch kein schöner Strandabschnitt vor dem Hotel, Baden eher schlecht.
Alternative Essensmöglichkeiten rings um das Hotel vorhanden.

Refugium mit tropischem Flair

Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Das Hotel befand sich direkt am Meer. Was bedeutet, dass es extrem schwer ist bei der Luftfeuchtigkeit und dem Meersalz das Gebäude in Schuss zu halten. Im Vergleich zu den umliegenden Wohnhäusern ist die Hotelsnlage gut. Das Essen war gut. Es gab nicht nur Landestypische Küche. Der 1,2 Km entfernte Supermarkt war tadellos. Und gut sortiert. Das Meer war etwas rau und nicht badetauglich. Dafür gab es einen guten Pool. Wer aber tropisches Flair sucht weg von Massentourismus ist dort gut aufgehoben. Man muss sich aber bewusst machen, dass Srilanka kein europäisches Land ist und auch viel Armut aufweist.

На Шри Ланке отдыхаем второй раз, так же как и в данном районе. Отель очень понравился, отличное обслуживание, чистота, удобное расположение, выбрали номер с видом на океан. В отеле брали только завтраки, тоже остались довольны.
