Excellent stay at Hotel Approdo
Hotel Approdo was probably the cleanest place we stayed in our entire Italy trip. The staff are very courteous and prompt with all requests. We stayed for 2 nights. The room had a great balcony with an incredible view. We walked from the hotel to Portofino which took a couple hours at a fairly leisurely pace. We also walked to the hotel from the train station which was only about a 10-15 minute walk. It was quiet and lovely. Highly recommend.

I will remember this hotel forever. It is at the top of a small totally doable hill in San Michele. You walk ten mins down the hill to the beach with the option for beach clubs or public beach. Buy a waterproof cell phone lanyard like the locals so you can float all day without worrying about pick-pickets (not that I saw a hint of any). Also bring water shoes or tevas, beaches are a tad rocky but fine. There are quaint cafes and casual dining spots all in San Michele in this area. you are a 25 minute walk to Rapallo in one direction which is bustling with shopping/dining/beaches and Santa Margherita in the other direction also busting with shopping/dining/beaches. the bus stop is EXACTLY at this hotel (so amazing) and can also bring you so you don' have to walk, we wanted to walk a lot there and take the bus home. You can buy bus tickets for 2 euro cash each at the hotel so you don't have to worry about fumbling around with payment on a public bus (I worry lol). The front desk was amazing and 24 hour! They took such excellent care of us and really made us feel so welcome and like we had personalized care. Everyone remembers you and looks out for you with genuine care. It was WONDERFUL. We stayed in the garden terrace room and the terrace was enormous no one can believe how much space we had. This hotel is on a hill so if you cannot do hills its not for you but if you can walk up a hill (I'm not an athlete or a hill person) I would highly recommend it! 10/10, 5 Stars, LOVED

Very nice hotel, located between Santa margherita and Rapallo, out of the busy areas. Both are 25 min walk or there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel. Lovely staff, very clean rooms, good air-conditioning and nice bar with patio for drinks. We had a very nice stay!

We had 3 fantastic nights at the Hotel. We stayed in a superior room, which was on the top floor and had a sea view and large balcony (with chairs and beds). The views down the Italian Riviera coast are spectacular. We booked the hotel as it appeared good value compared to others in the area, and had no regrets. Ok, so on the downside, the hotel is out of town, (hence its slightly cheaper price), doesn’t have a restaurant and the road at the front is a bit noisy. Also perhaps at some point the bathrooms could be modernised with some newer fittings. However, for the location, it’s only a 10 minute walk back to either Santa Margherita, or for dinner, (as advised by the staff) to Spiaggia di San Michele, which contains a few great beachside restaurants and a bar, all without the crowds of the main town. The road, and noise certainly drops at night, and being on the hotels top floor also helps! Finally the staff, especially the ladies on reception, were fantastic, and all spoke English beautifully. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel, we had a great stay, and wonderful memories, and certainly hope to come back in the future.

Hotel L'Approdo was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful! Even before we got there there they responded to our questions timely and thoroughly. The rooms are comfortable and most certainly clean. The views from the rooms and the patio in front are lovely. And they make GREAT coffee! Would go back for sure and tell others to stay.

This charming hotel has rooms with balconies providing very beautiful sea and surrounding views. Staff is friendly, helpful and client focus. Only pet peeve is 15-20 minute walk (on a hill) from hotel to town which can be challenging on hot days or if limited mobility). Bus service is an option as it stops in front of hotel, but be patient as not always on time. Decent breakfast also available and also couple of restaurants near by for dinner. If you want alternative option to overpriced hotels in region, this is a very good option. Hotel also has limited parking. I highly recommend.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful any time we had questions. Location was perfect to see both towns of Santa Margherita Ligure and Rapallo. In the hot sun the walks into those towns felt intense at times, but it only took about 15 to 20 min and it’s a beautiful walk with sidewalks the entire way. The shower was a bit small in the bathroom, but my boyfriend and I are quite tall, he’s 6’7” and he managed to shower in there with no complaint so it’s workable. Fantastic views from the balcony! We sat there most of the time that we were at the hotel. Just beautiful. So sad to be back in the states. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Hotel staff was extremely accomodating, informative, and kind. The location was perfect, situated between Santa Margherita and Rapollo with a bus stop right across the street from the hotel. The beds were very hard and pillows a little flat, but would stay there over and over again due to location, views, and staff. The free breakfast was outstanding as well!

It is located half way between Rapallo and San Margherita. Because of parking issues in these towns, you really need to walk or take a taxi. It is very hilly so may be a problem for some people. Taxis are expensive at 20 Euros.

We loved our stay!!! This hotel is actually closer to Santa Margherita then Rapallo. So if you are traveling by train, get off at the Santa Margherita station and take a bus that drops you off in front of the hotel. The room was very large and clean. The view was just amazing. The staff was one of the best I have encountered. I has a 5 star experience on a 3 star price. It should be noted that this hotel in not in the town center. There are frequent buses going to both Santa Margherita and Rapallo. Lots of restaurants and shops in both towns. Just across the from a lovely church and a pebble beach. If you want to go to Portofino, there is a bus from Santa Margherita town center directly to Portofino. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

The rooms were clean and modern with a nice view from the patio. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and made good recommendations for eating in town. The only thing that might be a problem for some people was the fact that it was on a narrow, busy street and car parking was on an even more narrow street. There are no sidewalks, which for some people can be a little disconcerting. It's not uncommon in Italy to walk in the traffic lane and you just have to trust the drivers to not hit you.

The hotel itself was wonderful and the girls on reception were very helpful. The breakfast was also very good. The road outside the hotel was the only issue we had. Once we worked out how to use the buses to our best advantage then we felt a lot happier. I would not advise walking into SML although the distance is not the problem, it was more the lack of pathway and the danger of the traffic along that stretch.

I haven't been more pleasantly surprised. A combination of quirky art juxtaposed with loved antique pieces was a welcome I wasn't expecting from this 60's style hotel. Refreshingly modern and chic, yet welcomingly warm.
The smiling staff were always willing to help with bus and train times, maps and walks, or where to eat and what to pay for a cab.
Nothing was too much trouble, the kind of service usually reserved for a 5 star.

What a fantastic hotel. Hotel approdo looks a little overwhelming by it's size on the photograph, but when you actually see it with your own eyes, it's a lovely beautiful modern, but quaint hotel. We stayed for 4 nights, the hotel staff were very welcoming. amazing infact !! they could'nt do enough for us during our stay there. They had all the infomation for you during our stay. Where to eat, bus stops, timetables, etc. Our room was very nice, modern with balcony & sunbeds & chairs, shower sink & beday no bath though. So what !! with nice firm beds, & ample wardrobe space. Quite roomy indeed. Breakfast is of course continental & very nice indeed. It's a little bit scarey when you get to the busy road just outside the hotel. But then again it's the main road between Rapallo & Santa Margerita Ligure. But to put this hotel into a nutshell. You get a 5 star stay in a 3 star hotel !! And we are definately going back to stay. Congratulations hotel Approdo it has been a magnifcent holiday *****

Wonderful, so clean, lovely breakfasts, excellent food, it was so modern and bright, big wondows overlooking a church courtyard and the sea. The staff was so helpful, pleasant and friendly and it's our intention to go back. We are sitting in a hotel now in Venice, a big chain hotel, and wishing we were back at L'Approdo. Larry and Susan.

Just spent four great nights at this wonderful hotel. We have been to all parts of Italy over the years, but this hotel and area takes some beating.O.k,the hotel is a few hundred metres out of town, but you will pay much more for this sort of quality nearer the town centre.A special mention should go to brilliant staff, all of whom were so friendly and helpful.

Car was damaged while parked on a side street about 50 meters from hotel.Walking to Santa Magarita is dangerous as there are no sidewalks on a very narrow and busy street. Convenient bus service with stops in both directions in front of the hotel. Nice breakfast.

Excellent and clean hotel
We stayed at the Approdo hotel for 4 nights in August 2011. We were very satisfied with the cleanliness of the hotel. It was bright and the rooms were large, with beatiful views of the sea. The bed was a bit hard but we got used to it. Breakfast was included and ample, with good choice of bread, pastries, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, cereal, coffees, teas etc. The only downside of this hotel is that it is located at a curve and on a stretch of road that has no sidewalk for about 200 to 300 meters on the way to Santa Margherita. So if you plan to walk, that part without the sidewalk feels a bit dangerous, especially at night when traffic is heavy and it is dark. Otherwise, great place and great location.

L'Approdo is fresh and clean and bright. The staff are friendly, helpful and informative. There is free wi-fi throughout, an included ample breakfast buffet, and a reasonably priced bar. The hotel has a beautiful garden and is set amongst other such gardens. It is a lovely and quiet location, except for some traffic noise, which you get almost everywhere in Italy. But the hotel is set back from the road. Parking is limited, but is available to those who telephone ahead to reserve, and is charged for, at about ten percent on top of the room rate. The buses run to Rapallo in one direction and Santa Margherita in the other, and stop right outside. Our room was a clean and pleasant bedroom, with effective air conditioning. The glazing was effective at keeping out the noise of the passing lambrettas. The bathroom was modern. There was a shower but no bath. There is a lift, but the hotel may not be suitable for people with a disability, because the driveway leading up from the road is very steep. There is easy access to a public beach about two hundred meters away. Our stay was very pleasant, and I would not hesitate to recommend L'Approdo, which is very reasonably priced for that resort.

We were so pleased when we arrived at Hotel Approdo - it was rated 3-stars and exceeded our expectations. We had 2 rooms right next to each other - both with wonderful views of the bay and coastline. Our rooms were very comfortable and extremely clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful - giving us great restaurant recommendations in Santa Margherita which was within walking distance of the hotel. It was an easy walk to the train station in Santa Margherita to take the train to Cinque Terre for the hike - very convenient.
