Loved the view from balcony and swimming pool - bed was comfortable - the bathroom was tiny and the hotel could do with some love but we enjoyed our stay

The bathroom was very very small if you accidentally tripped coming out of the shower you would have fallen into the bidday . I broke a finger nail and lost skin trying to open up the fridge which was pushed into a cupboard making it near impossible to open the fridge door. Very hard to find parking at any given time of the day at the accomodation. Very poor amenities in the rooms and the view I had was lacking!

All the hotel staff was so helpful providing directions & helping us book dinner/ferry reservations (and to my surprise, spoke English fluently)…and the breakfast was amazing! Best breakfast I’ve experienced, and I travel a lot! Parking was a little tight, but expected. Best to catch the train in to Santa Margherita & rent a moped & use the ferry to Portofino (15 min each way).

This was not a hotel, only 6 bedrooms in a one floor, no sign of the Hotel's name outside. It was difficult to find the place. no additional services. it was clean, but felt unsafe. I won't recommend it.

Great hotel based right near Portofino.
Staff very friendly and helpful. They let us park the car in their car park to explore before we checked in. Recommend ferry to Portofino (hotel ideally based a few minutes walk to jetty). We walked back the 5km which is a beautiful route but a long way!

Beautiful hotel with lovely looking facilities - we wished we were staying longer than one night.

It was a perfect spot overlooking the harbor! We had a slight problem getting onto the free wifi when we arrived (quickly resolved!), and the hot water was not very hot when showering...but I would stay in this beautiful hotel again in a heartbeat!

Much better than I expected! They put me on the top floor (it was off-season, so more flexibility). Although the AC had been turned off for the season, the gentleman was very nice and gave me a fan. Very clean and great location!

Comfortable for the price

We were disappointed when we arrived to learn that our room did not have an ocean view - their room options as listed on Hotels.com were a little confusing. The rooms were a little bit worn but comfortable, and the hotel was in a great location to go out and explore the town. Parking was treacherous in their on-site parking so we had to park up the road in a garage.

Wow! I had a view to the water and it was unbelievable. The balcony was huge and I could enjoy the sunset seeing all the boats.

The wifi was so good for all my work video calls. The staff was so nice, I could go swimming at the pool while I waited for my room. Food was great. Location is perfect. It’s about a 20 min walk from train station. I am definitely staying here again

We stayed here one night. We enjoyed the room, although it was not very sound proof so we could hear those around and above us pretty well. Good shower. We enjoyed our time at the pool however the slide was broken. We asked the front desk to call us a taxi in the morning due to an early train and the person working that night was very helpful and kind. However, that morning, the person working refused to call the taxi before we got down even though we asked for a specific time—it was good we went down even earlier to make sure it was called. He was rude compared to those working when we checked in. Would stay here again.

Lovely hotel in great location. Rooms were really spacious, breakfast was good and pool was lovely.
Only negative feedback is the bathroom was badly designed with a central, outward facing shower with no shower curtain - consequently every time it was used the bathroom floor flooded. That said, the location, space and pool out weigh the negative and I would still stay there again.

I'm not sure if I should give 3 or 4 star. I encountered with two problems:
1- The TV was not working. The staff told me they've been having issued for few days now.
2- The AC was making extreme noise and again staff told me it's an old unit and they can't do anything about it!!!
I end up buying earplugs for couple of night i was there.

This is very good value for the area. Location is perfect, central and walking distance to everything you need. The street is also very quiet. Rooms have been renovated but the layout of junior suite didn't meet my expectations. Also the junior suites with ocean view are on the 3rd floor right off the big terrace in the entrance, which blocks much of the view. I thought getting a superior suite would also come with the best view on a high floor. The building is quite dated in the lobby and exterior. Parking is good.

Our stay was outstanding, the pool was lovely (very deep!) and saltwater. The area was close by cafes and restaurants. Easy walk to the train, but be careful about following Google Maps, it took us the completely wrong direction, like to the back of the hotel at the top of many, many, many stairs. If you follow the coast from the train, there are signs that direct you to the front.

Our first time in PORTOFINO/Santa Margherita area. The hotel is pretty close to everything, 5-10 minutes easy walks. The best thing about the property is the beautiful view from the balcony. My room was not ready when we arrived, and they gave us an upgrade for the inconvenience. The breakfast buffet is superb with lots of selections and worth the money. The only issue (a non-issue for me) was the outdated bathroom on the 4th floor and that’s due to leaks around the small squared shaped sliding shower doors. I didn’t mind having an extra towel on the floor during showering time. If seeing very small black mold bothers you, then don’t come here. BUT the view OF THE SEA, convenient location, breakfast buffet, clean pool and friendly staff should make up for it in a big time.

Had been a bit concerned initially with choosing to stay here in light of the disappointing reviews it had but choose it because of the pool facilities as we wanted to be able to come back after a day out sightseeing and chill in a sea water pool .
We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel the pool facilities are fantastic 👏👏👏Stefano was excellent and like the reception staff very attentive .
The rooms were clean maybe they have seen better days but the beds were comfortable and we were given daily fresh towels so what more do you need . Book and enjoy all Santa marguerite has to offer . Would recommend the bar with a little roof top garden just down from the hotel gates on the left as somewhere to have a drink and fab nibbles before you walk to the promenade as well as the Reve restaurant a 3 min walk away . Fab food

Chaotic management at front desk

Unless you come by car, you will be walking 3 blocks uphill to the first elevator that takes you to a small parking lot. Then you cross the parking lot to a second elevator that takes you up to the hotel front desk, which is a chaotic scene with staff arguing and shuffling a lot of papers. Management seems inexperienced and unsure of their own procedures. The decor is nicely updated but the bedding was uncomfortable. Pool and terrace were really nice and the breakfast was an excellent hot american breakfast with bacon and eggs. I would give the breakfast 5 stars!
