Charming b&b in a small village

This stay was in a wonderful b&b in a charming village. The room was great with very helpful and thoughtful service. Easy and free parking 5 min walk (outside the ZTL).

I would definitely recommend staying here. Make sure you check out the restaurant next door while you do!

Have no words to describe this property! Is absolutely amazing, location is great, the Borgo ( San Donato) is spectacular. The breakfast was delicious and handmade by Mary. Hostess Maria and Mary always was aware of our necessities in the hotel. Highly recommended for those who are looking for peace and rest in beautiful Tuscany!

Perfect Stay

We loved our stay here! Everything was absolutely perfect! The house was gorgeous. The breakfast was wondering and made to order everyday. Along with yogurt, fruit and home baked cakes. The beds were very comfortable. The view was to die for. It was extremely clean. Maria was so kind and welcoming. Everyone else also went above and beyond to help in anyway we needed.

Also the town was very cute with a few really good places to eat. We would love to come back again someday. ❤️❤️

My husband and I both really enjoyed our stay at this property. Maria and Mary really make us feel at home. We were greeted with a piece of home-made cake and cappuccino. We really loved the whirlpool bathtub in our bathroom which was very helpful after the long walks with touring the hill towns. Right next door is an excellent, Michelin-rated restaurant called La Toppa which served excellent food and had very friendly staff. Maria even went out of her way to make an inquiry phone call to assist me in finding a church where my grandparents were married in the early 1900s, as I cannot speak Italian. This property is nicely centered in the Chianti region, making it short commutes to several of the hill towns and wineries.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay! The most charming and scenic town I’ve ever seen.

I actually stayed at Palazzo Malaspina once as a child. It was easily my favorite vacation. The people I went with still talk about it today. So 15 years later, as an adult, the first vacation I decided to go on had to be here.

The palazzo itself is very nice, very well maintained, quality wooden furniture, big beds, brand new slippers for the guests in the bathrooms, all the goods. And if you’re lucky enough to get a room with the balcony, a LOVELY view.

And the hospitality is unmatched. The owner and the other woman that was working there were so kind, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was so good. You can taste the freshness and quality in all of it.

Such a great trip! I highly recommend it.

A BandB with plenty of character, a helpful host, and delightful staff. Maria the host and Mary, her staff were very nice an DC made our stay very enjoyable. Maria baked a wonderful marmalade tort pie and Mary was there each morning to cook me some scrambled eggs and brew cappuccino. There was rhe lovely fruit salad and fresh croissants as well. Plenty to eat. The location wss set in the small hill town of San Donato with their highly rated La Toppa restaurant next door. We enjoyed dinner there a few times. Also, it is possible to get a bus to Florence from there but the return is a little tricky. A short drive to the primary Chianti spots and San Gimignano that has sadly turned into a major tourist trap with a bunch of souvenir and clothing vendors hawking their goods. But, we loved the charm of San Donato and Palazzo Malaspina.

The position in the village was good we had a balcony and could see the Tuscan view in the morning and sun set at in the evening. We found it good place to stay to visit a number of sites in Tuscany.

We cannot say enough about Palazzo Malaspina. Maria’s house is beautiful, feels like being at home. Maria and Mary are so kind and willing to assist with directions for your day. Breakfast is delicious, their omelets are a must! The selection for breakfast is excellent with lots of fresh items to choose from. They make an amazing cappuccino!
Looking forward to another stay the next time we are in Italy.

Wonderful staff, beautiful decor and surrounds!

Palazzo Malaspina was such a great way to start our trip. The hotel is beautifully decorated and impeccably well kept. Maria and Mary are both lovely and provide the most delicious home made breakfast each morning as well as helpful advice on where to go and suggest places to visit. The village of San donato in poggio is beautiful and provides stunning views of the countryside. We loved it here and would definitely come back! Highly recommend!

Perfect Location and Super Friendly!!

Amazing stay... Situated an hour drive south of Florence, this place is perfectly situated in San Donato. Chianti wineries closeby (5-10 min drive) and even only 1.5 hours from Montalcino and Montepulciano. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and Maria is ridiculously nice. I was having a horrible weekend since I couldn't pick up my car and missed a night staying here. Maria not only empathized, but also gave me 50% off that night, even though she didn't have to. When I visit Italy again to scratch my wine itch, I am coming back here!

This B&B is in a beautiful small and quiet village ideally placed between Florence and Siena for exploring the Chianti region.Maria makes sure that your stay will be nicely remembered and gives you very good advice about the villages and attractions to visit nearby. Amazing! Maria is a great host. We really enjoyed all the local tips that she and Mary gave us. The room was perfect and a great value. We stayed for 3 nights which was not long enough. If I had know how busy and expensive Florence was I would have stayed here and day tripped it to Florence. 1 hour by car to Pisa and Lucca. 30 Minutes to Sienna. 2 amazing restaurants in the Village and many more a short car drive a way.

Everything was absolutely perfect for our stay at the Palazzo Malaspina. The room was huge, with an expansive bathroom and everything was recently redone, and immaculately clean! The breakfast was very good with a good variety of options of meats, cheeses, fruit salad, baked goods, breads, and eggs to order. The owner and cleaning lady/attendant were very pleasant and attentive, offering suggestions for day trips and good directions if needed. Location was exactly what we were looking for. The town is slow paced, and very relaxing, with wonderfully welcoming people, a perfect end to our Italy vacation.

Quiet and clean!

The hotel was very comfortable and charming. I would definitely stay here again...even with the odd parking situation. This is good if you want a very quiet location in a very sleepy but charming medieval country village in the Chianti region. The staff was very pleasant but not very visible...good and bad....it was hard to find someone to ask questions except during the breakfast hour. The wi-fi is only available in the breakfast room. There was a lovely complimentary Chianti in our room when we arrived...wonderful way to drink while looking out the window at the beautiful view!!

Lovely small Tuscan village experience

Palazzo Malaspina is a small authentic Tuscan B&B right in the middle of the small Tuscan village of San Donato. The owner, Maria, was very welcoming and did her best to ensure that we had a great stay. The breakfast was amongst the best that we had in Tuscany and included some of Maria's homemade jams. These were a real treat.

The location is excellent. San Donato is a small village conveniently located so that you can do day trips to various Tuscan towns. The hotel is situated next door to a couple of restaurants. There are scenic views from this hill-top village making a sunset walk before dinner the perfect way to end a Tuscan day.
