COMO Castello Del Nero an authentic 12th century castle, now a 5 star hotel member of the Leading Hotels of the World, is located in Barberino Tavarnelle, in the heart of the Chianti wine region. It is in the perfect spot to start exploring Tuscany: 30 minutes from Florence, Siena and San Gimignano, 1 hour drive from Pisa, Lucca and from Prada and The Mall outlets, while Tavarnelle shops and restaurants are only walking distance.
Comp shuttle bus service to and from the centre of Florence or Siena at scheduled times is available all year round. The 50 rooms and suites are unique and offer the services and comforts of the most luxurious hotels.
The hotel features the Michelin starred La Torre Restaurant and La Taverna Tuscan Restaurant, while during summer guests can enjoy lunch and dinner on the terrace or by the pool. Our Sommelier will be glad to arrange Wine and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tastings in the ancient wine cellars with more than 1.100 labels, including our two different wine labels and Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced on our estate.

The hotel Como Castelo Del Nero is a beautiful property. However, for this resort to feel more comfortable and welcoming as resort it will require a few changes:
The rooms are to bright. The lights system are designed for business only. There are not one single dimmer in the entire room or bathroom.
Secondly important thing are the steps to access the bathroom. Definitely is not recommended for elderly people. Another thing, there are no place for a makeup station. The heritage room is too big and not cozy at all. The fireplace it was only a decorative piece of art. The hallway needs a rugs for a better acoustic sound. The walls are missing pictures with a nice landscape of Tuscany or either a little bit of historic moments about Italy. It perhaps about the Nero… anyway. I have been traveling to over 68 countries, and I have had great experiences around the world. So I can feel the difference between welcoming resorts or a more business experience:

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. It sits in a beautiful area surrounded by excellent wineries. Every detail of the hotel is perfect, from the rooms to the dining to the common areas, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I hope to come back soon.

What a magnificent place. We had the most amazing stay at COMO Castello del Nero. The property is exquisite and was redone during Covid. The views are incredible. The food was OUTSTANDING - cannot stress that enough. Such a great location. Did not want to leave. The hotel staff were so helpful in helping to organize our activities and accommodate us. We had the best time and hope to be back soon.

This place is not worth the money , they did not bother to tell us about the free shuttle bus service to florence or about wine tastings they offer when i specifically asked about that interest , our bike broke down near the hotel and we called them to see if they can pick us up and they said we have to pay for a taxi , everything is extra , including the hot tub

The hotel is simply perfection - we stayed in room 402 with a lovely outside terrace and the most beautiful views of Tuscany. The walks were great, the spa perfect and the food and wine were amazing but the best thing about this hotel is the staff. I sent so many emails prior to my stay to ensure it was perfect for my husbands 40th birthday and Giulia was so helpful, she arranged everything for me, helped me pick the perfect room, helped me pick a wine tour at Il Balzini (which was just what I wanted) sorted a driver for me - nothing was too much trouble and I can't thank her enough! Alberto on the front desk when we arrived was great - really funny and welcoming! Lorenzo, the head bar man was also an exceptional addition to your team and also Nicola at the Taverna.
Everything is so very expensive but then there is so much attention to detail and it really is an exceptional 5 star hotel - I wanted to make my husbands birthday memorable and it really was - so thank you very much for that!

All the staff are amazing and will do their utmost to make your stay memorable. Prior to arrival I was communicating with the conceriege regarding various things we were interested in doing. They arranged a car rental for us with delivery at the hotel. Plus I made reservations at La Torre, their Michelin Star restaurant to celebrate my wife’s 50 birthday. Upon checking in, we were upgraded to a suite. A very nice surprise. As well, we were told our car rental was upgraded as well! On the day of my wife’s birthday we were out for the afternoon. When we returned there was a personalized birthday cake and balloon from the hotel.
The property is slightly remote, but that is the charm. Where else can you sit on the terrace having breakfast overlooking the vineyards and olive groves. A fantastic overall experience.

We loved our five-night stay at Castello del Nero. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service from the staff, probably one of the best experiences we've had. They were attentive to every need with professional yet warm demeanors. The facilities were beautiful and our room was surprisingly large, especially the bathroom, as most others we'd stayed in were very small. The concierge arranged travel for us and we were very pleased with the services they organized. The food was amazing--we ate in their Michelin-starred restaurant and also their taverna. Even when we wanted to eat at an odd time, they were ready to accommodate us as the only two in the bar area. We availed ourselves of their spa services as well, which we found top-notch. The grounds, the views, the hiking trails, the atmosphere....we loved it all and would return again gladly!

The highlight for us was eating at the Michelin star restaurant. I'm fortunate enough to have rated at quite a few Michelin restaurants but this was up there with the best and I thought the value for money was exceptional. The whole hotel is stunning and everything is of the very highest quality in standard and service. It's extremely expensive but deserves its place as a world renowned hotel.
