Quiet, beautiful setting on the bay while sheep graze.
Staff was friendly and helpful. The cold breakfast was quite large, with a variety of meats and cheese, fresh vegetables and fruit, cereal and muffins.
The bed was a little hard and it would have been nice to have something to place our toiletry kit in the bathroom.We loved the towel warmer!

Location is good, except for the 2 mile drive down a one lane track often decorated with sheep (which aren't an obstacle, but do look rather odd in the headlights).

Our room was musty and damp, with a nest of spiders in one corner that was not removed for two days.

The staff are absolutely indifferent to the guests, spending most of their time playing on their phones.

The hotel is located quite far from the city center, which may not be ideal for those hoping to explore more easily. Reaching it also requires navigating some rough roads, with potholes—some nearly a foot deep—that make the drive a bit of an obstacle course. Dining options are extremely limited, and the breakfast was just so-so.

This was a beautiful rural property with lots of character. the road in was a single lane road with lots of potholes, but once entering the property the driveway was great with easy parking. rooms were large on a courtyard configuration. On site restaurant served excellent food and staff was outstanding . The complimentary continental breakfast was awesome and a lot more then we have experienced in other establishments. An outstanding stay and will highly recommend.

The property needs a re-boot! Despite our room having a recent upgrade, repairs are in order. The bathroom floor is lifting and the baseboards in and around the bathroom door are dirty, the tub faucet needs replacing - the button controlling water temperature will not turn to cold. It took numerous attempts to close one of windows as the mechanism is sprung. The carpets in the room need cleaning and the hallway and stair carpets are dirty and lifting. Young afternoon/evening staff are friendly and helpful. The same cannot be said for morning staff in the dining room. Worst coffee of my entire trip through Scotland!

My Daughter and I stayed at Redwood house for 2 nights. we were in suite C4 with I believe is due to be renovated. It was clean and cozy. The staff/owner were very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant was fine, however, it did not in any way fit the description as advertised on the web sight. It might be beneficial to update the web sight.

Peter and Annette were so warm and welcoming and so personable. This is a gorgeous location! I actually got up early to watch the sunrise over the water-- so beautiful and peaceful. Rooms are large and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast in the morning may have been cold but what a spread! Great place to stay on Skye.

Charged astronomical money for a stay at the Ritz Carlton but ended up in a shack. Bed was horrible, pillows hard as a rock, water for shower barely warm. We ate dinner which it was Tuesday so it was “limited menus” we had tap water two 9” pizzas (frozen pizzas tasted better) and charged almost 40 pounds! Just ridiculous!!! You are supposed to be in the business of hospitality however you don’t accommodate your guest by having food/coffee ready until 8am. We were off site seeing by 7am. If we had stayed till 8 to get food it was only going to be a continental breakfast. The price we paid should have been cooked to order & brought to my room. Never again, will sleep in my car before spending another $ on that place.

Great stay at the Redwood House!

The room felt more like a townhouse, it was roomy and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful with a lake and land with sheep. It was a wonderful getaway from the city!
There is also a restaurant that had really good food for dinner! The breakfast was great as well! We really enjoyed our stay and will come back if we visit the area again!

Such an adorable little hotel on the lake. I stayed a short time and wish I had longer. I got in very late but had called and John was super helpful and friendly and made sure I had what I needed when I got in and reminded me to get food first bc nothing around there after their restaurant closes. Very helpful and kind of him bc I forget things close early and I forget to eat. Breakfast was good. John was super nice and gave me ideas where to go and even shared a picture he took of the sunset with me bc I missed it. And I loved the drive in with all the sheep neighbors to the hotel. I'm an animal but and that made me happy just driving in and being able to count my sheep before I got there and went to bed! 😜

Overpriced - 2/5 Hotel

Unfortunately it was a terrible stay. Room had a inner car park view and neither bathroom nor the room was clean. Room is called a double room but in reality it is quite small room. Mattress was not comfortable and big enough. When we complain about the clogged sink and dirty bathroom, lady at the reception was weird about it.

In general given the price point it is an overpriced 2 out of 5 hotel. Would not recommend to anyone.

Beautiful quiet location.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful, quiet location with stunning views of the loch from the lounge and dining room.

The staff were friendly and helpful but service at evening dinner was very slow at times.

The hotel is small and was built about 10 years ago. It appears to have been originally well specified at the time but, being hyper- critical, 10 years' use is starting to show up now in places. Nevertheless we would be happy to stay again, especially if the perfect weather could be repeated!

Website misleading - read before choosing

Beautiful location thou down a ten min dirt track to reach it. 30 mins drive to Portree. However our room faced the car park on the ground floor so we couldnt open our curtains thru the stay. And there are a number of rooms like this - very few face the Loch. For the money and on a three night stay this was unacceptable - the reception staff handled it really badly and were very surly. They could have changed us on day two but said as we hadn't booked direct they werent going to!!! If you dont book direct you are very much a second class citizen. A number of guests unhappy with some aspect, feeling the website doesn't portray the situation accurately. Restaurant staff very nice but not fully trained on menu specifics. Breakfast is basic self service continental, dinner was decent on nights chef in - pizzas otherwise and they are poor.

This place is magical. We came across it by just our luck and boy were we happy. The hosts that welcomed us were so sweet and so welcoming and the food was outstanding! My husband had the Cullen skink chowder and the seafood linguini and it was incredible! Highly recommend this quaint spot. Take care on the road! It’s not for the faint of heart but worth it!

While the staff was extremely friendly, this place needs a manager. When the chef cooked, food was exceptional. However, even being warned that the breakfast was continental and only pizza was available on Tuesday nights, the pizzas were not good and the continental breakfast was difficult for me as I cannot have dairy. First, our room was very cozy and clean. We had good airflow from various windows which was super important during a very warm streak for Fall in Scotland. With that said, keeping windows open allowed in every single noise from any guest, even as late as 1am.

Breakfast was lovely. While we do understand limited dining with how hard it is to find help these days, having a small fridge and/or microwave in the rooms would have been helpful for us to have our own food with limited dining in general!

If ever someone takes over this hotel it would be the best thing for it the owner is a rude pig other staff very lovely he was lucky he wasnt there when i checked out the guest's were lined up to complain about the property very expensive
What ever you dont ask for a towel replacement or how to use there 20 year old television you will get a very rude answer. It must be the only hotel in the world with a 4pm

If you have ever watched faulty towers its a comedy show about a hotel but this is not a funny show

Our room was the worst on the property. King bed should say European king because it is a queen. The rain shower head 10’ or so high had no controls except to stand under the shower head, turn on the water, which is cold of course and continue to stand under the cold water to adjust the water temp. They said the windows would open further but they did not. A double king room is so small with just one tiny chair, a queen size bed and no room for luggage etc. I believe we got the worst room because we booked with Expedia and they have to pay a fee. This was our 5th 4-night stay in the UK. All our rooms, but this one had a legitimate king bed, but the. Legitimate king bed would not fit in this tiny room. My husband is 6’6” and actually fell out of this little bed with injuries. I’ll stop now but there is more. Many guests were complaining about their rooms.

The Redwood House is off the beaten path which is one of the things we loved. In Greshornish, right on the loch, it was a great place for a morning or evening stroll down to the water or along the lane. The sheep, especially the lambs were really fun to watch. 🐑
Redwood House is a great, fairly central place from which we could drive from and explore the Isle of Skye. Our room was clean and the shower was nicely hot. And the bed? Oh the bed, soooo cozy comfortable!
Breakfast starts at 8:00. It was very good, with plenty of options: fresh fruit, toast, croissants, danish, cheese, cold meat, hard boiled eggs, cereals, etc. but not a full hot breakfast spread (scrambled eggs, hash browns, haggis, bacon, etc.) Reserve dinner time in advance, for a good meal after a day of site-seeing. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. We enjoyed getting to know them and felt very welcomed. We would definitley stay here again.

The perfect little sanctuary. Off the beaten path, quiet, and offers fantastic views. Unwind with a glass of wine or whatever you fancy. It’s a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle and complete the end of a long road trip. The room was clean and huge with private bathroom. Food was delicious. Dinner menu was a bit pricey but the breakfast buffet offered traditional Scottish style breakfast. Highly recommended!

The mattress collapsed in when partner went to sit down to put shoes on and when he lifted the mattress to fix the slats there was an inch of dust and rubbish under bed. You couldn't move in bed without it making a loud creak sound waking you up if you moved in your sleep. The meals were awful. Asked for medium steak steak - got well done. The beef burger came in the bun only and a drop of some kind of sauce. Apparently the coleslaw was on the plate and you have to put it in yourself? The actual beef burger tasted bland and not right at all - it was as hard as a rock and very dry/chewy. I had a stomach ache later that night.... Cheesecake came in a drinking glass and the crumble was like concrete at the bottom of the glass. The brownie icecream dessert was ok but icecream was full of ice as if it were old icecream. The lady behind us in restaurant returned her steak as it was cold and they brought the same piece of steak back out to her!!! Carpet was a bit yuck. Would never go back. Only nice thing was the lounge area and the view.

View and welcome to lift the heart.

Do not be put off by the fact that the hotel is at the end of a long lane, it is worth it. The position is beautiful right by the Loch Greshornish. The welcome too lays concerns to rest. Our room was lovely and comfortable and the meal excellent. It does mean you have a little journey to get out a explore...but what a journey.

Skye Disappointment

First of all, this is NOT a Hotel, as the description states! Bogus photos and inaccurate website description, along with clever marketing and very few true and honest reviews make this place look far better on paper than it really is: a small and ordinary abode, a very expensive 2-star Motel, situated in an undesirable location, offering poor service and run by a crew of rude, condescending, and unwelcoming staff.

There is no good view showing the true beauty of Skye. The amenities are sub par, especially considering the very high cost. Redwood House \"Hotel\" is located at the end of a long, one-way, unpaved road that leads to nowhere, making it hard to get in and out to visit the the surrounding attractions.

We spent 3 weeks in Scotland, traveling over 3,000 miles, from Edinburgh to Skye, Aberdeen, Durness and back.

This was our only disappointing experience!

I'm sure Gail, the unpleasant, abrasive, and aggressive manager, will respond will all sorts of excuses and made up stories but, the reality is, exactly what we we experienced and honestly wrote above.

Search around! Find a better place, for half the price. Find a better location, friendly staff, and much, much, better service. Save money. Enjoy your stay. Skye and Scotland are beautiful. Redwood \"Hotel\" is not.

Lovely friendly hotel

Lovely hotel, a bit off the road, right on the waterfront, staff were very friendly and helpful. We are in the restaurant on our first night and couldn't fault the food or service. Had read some negative views prior to going , these were all proved wrong I'm happy to say. Wi-Fi was a it patchy at times but you are in the countryside. Would consider it going to Skye again

Very peaceful

Fantastic location. Very peaceful. Great staff. Guess they have only recently opened as there are some things which need sorting out, shower for example. However this did not spoil our visit.

Not the best

The hotel was off the beaten path, but maybe too much so for us. The room we stayed in was basically the attic or 3rd floor. It was uncomfortable and the bed was barely off the floor and the bathroom was accros the hall it was not connected. I would say do not get room 5 when you book.
