I loved the gardens and also loved watching the birds in the trees and at the feeders. Breakfast was amazing and the mimosas and bloody Caesar’s were a nice touch. The beds were comfortable with quality pillows and bedding. The rooms were quaint and bathrooms were unique. Thanks for a great stay.

Spent a week here with husband and two college age girls in a family suite. Room was so spacious and wonderful with a fully equipped small kitchen, too. The included breakfast is phenomenal, food so varied and delicious and mimosas and Bloody Mary bar! The grounds and the views and the pool/hot tub are all just wonderful. It was a quick 10-ish minute drive to anything in town. We loved our stay so much!!!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Inn Palo Alto. The staff was welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect! We especially enjoyed the beautiful gardens, and the large, delicious breakfast.

The only inconvenience was that we could hear doors slamming when other guests entered or left their rooms or inside doors. It would be great if the hotel added something to soften the noise, or tell people to close doors slowly.

Overall, a fantastic experience, and we’d definitely stay again. ¡Muchas gracias!

Decent place, you get what you pay for. The room was a bit outdated and the entire hotel lost power from 9pm to around 2am which was a bit inconvenient. The owner of the hotel drives and picks you up to a pair of restaurants he owns in the downtown area which was very nice. The property is nice and peaceful, next to a river.

My 12 year old daughter and I had a very comfortable stay. The room was basic but good. The grounds were beautiful -- I'd never seen a hummingbird in person before! My daughter enjoyed the pool, although it was small. The breakfast was excellent. And great service from the staff. Highly recommend!

The property is very nice, and the property was picturesque, overlooking the river. They set out fruit daily for the birds, so we got to see some very colorful ones. The staff was very nice and were as helpful to us as much as they were able. They had a pool, a hot tub, and a gym, but we didn't use them. We didn't realize that the Inn was quite a ways from the majority of restaurants and businesses (more than 30 minute walk), has no options for food aside from breakfast, and that it was up a hill. If we had rented a car or found it easier to obtain cabs we could have overlooked these issues. However, being in a residential neighborhood, there were a number of roosters crowing throughout the day which woke me up daily as early as 3:45 am. We were on the street side, which unfortunately faced a bus stop and occasionally noisy traffic. All in all was a good stay and I would stay again with a car if not for the roosters.

The Inn at Palo Alto is a perfect complement to a stay in Boquete. Ownership and staff are attentive and friendly, whether you're a new guest or a returning friend. There are a variety of rooms to choose from, each offering a convenient breakfast and amenities. The pool/jacuzzi and fire pit are nice additions in recent years. The location near the top of the Boquete Valley is quiet with a nice view, soothing river and lots of busy hummingbirds.

This is an amazing option to stay in Boquete; Staff were super kind and helpful, rooms are ok, the jacuzzi with the view worths the stay. The included breakfast was pretty good. They do not offer lunch or other meal which is ok considering you will like to be exploring around. My only bad comment is the security in the terrace and open areas with slippery floor, I fall down very bad walking out from the open restaurant area they have, it was raining and they do not have the correct floor for an outdoor area it is super slippery and dangerous. Thanks God after going to the doctor Im still in pain but with no major consequences. They do need to pay attention to this and if you do go please be aware of this.

Lovely little boutique hotel vibe. The owners and staff were really friendly and helpful with anything needed during our stay, as well as for tips regarding local activities. The bed and linens were fine - nothing fancy, but comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was outstanding! Hot and cold options, with friendly, warm staff. The location is a little bit out of town. Taxi service is cheap and reliable, but we were happy to have a rental car to get around. Gorgeous views of the mountains and river, especially from the pool & hot tub. Bring earplugs if you're at all sensitive to roosters - I think it's had to get away from that noise anywhere in Boquete. :-) Would absolutely recommend this place to all of my friends!

I just can't say enough great things about this hotel. We had a few days to spend in Boquette with our young kids, and happened upon the Palo Alto inn. I am glad we did. Marcelo helped us organize activities that all of us could do, and which they really enjoyed. Boquette is beautiful and the hotel was a great compliment to it. The grounds are beautiful, the breakfast was wonderful, and the staff was super friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect in Boquette before we got there, but really look forward to returning in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The place is physically beautiful. Lovely setting, beautiful gardens.
But the attitude of most of the staff was indifferent, and the furnishings in the room were very basic. The pool heater is not functional . . .any day being the answer to the question of when the heater would be working . . .just as it was to a previous reviewer in Nov of '18. No attempt to dry off chairs so we would have a place to sit for breakfast. No comment ever made about the coffee estate tour I had requested a few weeks in advance on their website.
Too bad as the place is really beautiful. I'd stay elesewhere next time.

One of the loveliest hotels we have stayed in, built out next to a rushing river in a very nice valley just above Boquette. We had the apartment upstairs, which helped with the serenity, but some of the other units on the back facing the street might not be as nice. The bar/breakfast room terrace over the river is especially attractive.
An infinity edge pool is being built next to the river - eta unknown - but when it is finished the Palo Alto will be the coolest place in town. We ate at George's just down the street, and Retro Gusto in town, both fine cuisine. Management and ownership are very helpful and pleasant.

The Inn at Palo Alto was a respite after a long drive. The all-enclosed, flower strewn entrance was refreshing to see. We enjoyed our 2 day stay, wishing it could have been longer. Hot breakfasts were delicious every morning, before our trips to see the area around Boquete. Judy gave us great advice on places to eat, especially at Big Daddy's on the back patio. That seemed to be our hangout since everyone spoke English, were extremely friendly and helpful.

We booked a room through Expedia for one night but enjoyed it so much we stayed two nights. The Staff were great. Very helpful, even booked us a coffee tour for the next day. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. We ate outside under the canopy with a gorgeous view of the mountains. No A/C needed, slept with the windows open, perfect temperature, no bugs, no high humidity. Robert was great, he and the owners are from the USA so no language barrier. We will definitely stay there again, I Highly recommend this Hotel!!!!!

We stayed 5 nights and found plenty to do as we like walking and rafting and being outdoors. Boquete is relatively expensive so we thought on the whole that the hotel was good value. Lovely surrounding area, if you like quiet and nature, which we did. We also had a car which helped a lot. The best thing was the people who run it, give you good advice and cook you a lovely breakfast. Best of all, they make you feel really welcome. Robert and Judy, thank you.

Boquete Panama - the Inn at Palo Alto

I stayed here 3 nights in February of 2016. I inadvertently booked during the 10th Annual Boquete Jazz Festival so both the hotel and the restaurants/town were pretty busy. The owner Justin, receptionist Judy, and the manager Robert were all very attentive and provided a lot of additional information on hiking the area, and what the various offered tours cover and involve. In particular Robert's recommendations for restaurants were spot on. The evening open bar from 5 to 9 pm out on the patio overlooking the river was really enjoyable - conversations with Robert and the other hotel guests were informative and fun.

I'd recommend this place to anyone, particularly those who don't enjoy staying in the midst of what can be a very crowded downtown area. Taxis to and from the hotel to the city center are about $1 so its not expensive to stay in a quiet place; yet have ready access to the town proper.

If I ever return to visit Boquete, I would stay there again. The best part of the room was the private covered patio! it provided a great place for gathering with friends or just relaxing. The family suite is the best choice: nicely equipped kitchen, plenty of room to move around, a dining area, a spacious living room to watch TV and the kids loved sleeping in the upper level. Weather was nice, no need for AC.

Our stay at The Inn at Palo Alto was nice. The owners are very friendly which was nice. Breakfast in the morning was also very good but only one (1) small remarks that we had was that we didn't find the timming right, when having breakfast at that moment you have a dog is also walking up and down between the guest. There was one night we had a electricity blackout in the whole neighbourhood, we find there should be a automatic electric generator as a backup system on the property when public electricity falls out. But further then then that everything was wonderfall, we loved the landscaping beautifull and we sure will recommend our friends to this hotel.

Dogs and Roosters are a problem!

We stayed two nights. People were wonderful. Grounds were beautiful. However, room comfort and neighborhood were graded low because of the noise. The dog next door would start a barking rampage several times a night. By the time he settled down, the roosters started crowing. With no A/C the windows were open and sleeping for any length of time was impossible. For those reasons we would not stay there again.

Out of this world beautiful hotel. The grounds were out of a fairy tale, it was amazing. The room was very nice and clean. Mattress was firm for those that like that. An Inn with a View

First time there. We heard a lot about it and we're not disappointed. One of the nicest quaint inns I've ever stayed in. Grounds were gorgeous, location was second to none, people running the place were formidable. I will certainly return there. For an online booking, it exceeded expectations.

A little Garden of Eden

A charming hotel with friendly and helpful English speakers. We would have stayed longer if we could have., unfortunately they were booked. The first night the hosts ordered take out blackened Tuna from George's restaurant for us. It was excellent ! Nice to know it was within walking distance to the hotel. On our last day the owner was going to town and gave us a ride to our next destination, saving us a taxi fare.
Being new in Boquete the hosts patiently answered all our questions and offered to book a coffee tour for us but we weren't there long enough do take it.

Lovely little hotel

The Inn at Palo Alto was a charming little hotel. The manager was very friendly and helpful. He sincerely wanted you to enjoy your stay. He recommended a SUPER Italian restaurant that we enjoyed immensely. He was also the chef at the free breakfast every morning. It was outside and so pleasant in the fresh morning air. If we are ever in the area we will certainly return to both the hotel and the Italian restaurant.

A little bit of paradise.

We absolutely loved the location and the cook; I think his name was Robert. He was awesome and the Inn was well located. We had views towards the river, mountain, garden; it didn't matter which way we looked, it was a beautiful place.

Beautiful views, dedicated staff

I loved our stay at the Palo Alto Inn. Everywhere you looked out to was paradise- there were even morning rainbows. Hummingbirds all over the property, flowers blooming everywhere- it was truly a beautiful stay. Being as we were a young couple visiting, we felt a little out of place as it seemed to draw an older crowd. The bar closed at 9pm each night which was a vast change from Bocas.

This hotel has beautiful grounds and views. The hummingbirds are amazing! The staff is friendly and very accommodating. We went to relax and it was perfect.

Quiet Family Retreat

Like usual, went with trip advisor reviews and pleased my family along with with my friend and her kid. Needed a stop over place in Chiriqui during our trip to Bocas del Toro. Justin (the owner) and his mom treated us like old friends. Nice, clean, and relaxing garden apartment with comfortable beds for the six of us with a nice breakfast to ready us for our journey.
