The property is beautifully located on a coffee farm. The rooms are nice and bright. The restaurant is beautiful with outdoor seating with views of the mountain tops. The weather is prefect and you do not need an air conditioner. The staff were wonderful especially Luis.

Best place in Panama. We drove from Panama City eight hours but worth it We loved the national park feel hiked the trails (even to the waterfall) had great food and the best coffee, Ask Roosevelt in the dining room how he got his name. Don’t miss this place

Arriving at night during rainfall, it was difficult to find the reception. We eventually did, but the receptionist wasn’t there at the moment. Once we found her she was very kind and helpful. Food at the restaurant is wonderful. Couldn’t figure out how to operate the TV. As part of the location, it’s very naturally beautiful; however, the fog and rain made it more difficult to enjoy. We would be willing to try staying here (during dry season).

The accommodation (Chimney Suite) was nicely decorated and spacious. However the TV did not get any reception and there was only lukewarm water. The grounds were nicely landscaped. I would not recommend staying here as they tend to get many tour groups and are not set up properly for that. There was a group of 16 while we were there who completely dominated the situation. They would always sit together as a group. For breakfast one orders off the menu and there is no buffet. The group would spend significant time dining and the other guests would be haphazardly waited upon. For dinner most guests eat inside as it's quite cool then. Consequently there is not much space for other guests and this particular group were quite loud and spent several hours dining. I would suggest going up to the Finca for a coffee tour followed by a coffee drink and pastry in their small cafe after the tour. I would not suggest staying at the Finca but in town.

So, our stay was a mix of good and not so good. The location of Finca Lerida is lovely. The walks are good and the wildlife plentiful. The coffee tour is fantastic - the whole process and explanation really interesting.
The place lets itself down is a coue of ways. First is the restaurant - the only place to have a meal on site (there is a place for coffee and cake and the \"Gastropub\" which is supposed to open 3 or 4 nights a week but only opened once during our stay and they weren't serving any food). The main restaurant is cold in the evening and yet they left both doors open to the outside. There were customers sitting in the restaurant, wearing their cold weather jackets!! That might have been a clue. The food was generally good - the kitchen do a good job - but if you're planning to eat with children (we weren't), you'll struggle to find much and it will be expensive.
Finally, although we expected it to be cold at altitude, the rooms were also cold and there was no way to add a bit of heat. They were àlso noisy - no sound proofing between the rooms and the plumbing is noisy.
So, there were good bits and not so good bits. Overall, for the price being charged, we felt it could have been so much better with a little thought and focus on what the customer might want.

Great place for nature lovers!

Finca Lerida is a great place to stay for anyone who loves nature, there are many hiking trails that let you explore the beauty of the surrounding cloud forest, mountain streams and hidden waterfalls. The accommodations are quite comfortable for a hundred year old property, the grounds are filled with flowering plants attracting many butterflies and hummingbirds. Overall a very nice place, slightly overpriced in my opinion but worth a visit. My only complaint would be the fact that the room photos shown on Hotels.com are general pictures that don’t depict the actual room that’s being offered. That can be very confusing, I booked a Vintage Room and found out that it did not have a hammock, nor the fireplace, nor the view shown in the photos. I ended up making an upgrade but was charged a much higher rate.

The place was perfect. A high end boutique hotel in the middle of the jungle. And we saw a couple of Quetzales in the senderos walking by ourselves. The room was impecable and the shower super nice. The staff is very friendly and well trained.
The structure and the hotel facilities are well maintened and the historic buildings also in good condition.
The gardens are truly amazing and super well keeped.
The cool climate in Boquete helps you to relax from the hot lowlands or if you are just looking for a city break like us.
You will be cuddle by the cool breeze and birds chirping. This place is super silent and a little far from Boquete town so it is perfect for a peaceful stay.
Thre are two dining options one is a pub with a nice cimney and one is the restaurant le Brulerie. The first is just for pizza, hamburger etc the second is a serious fine dining restaurant. Kinda expensive, take in account at least 50/60$ dollars per person (glass of wine, apetizer or dessert and main course) but the service is very good.
Our waiter Miguel M. was very professional and nice we really had a wonderful dining experience.
We went with an infant baby and we had no problem at all with the stroller.
The plantation is very big and you can hiking in the woods and all around the coffea plantation. The hotel offer also a coffea tour, and tasting.
Overall the hotel was clean just a couple of tips for the hotel management, first the bed table was not very clean, dust was all over. Second you should keep a door mat, Boquete can be very rainy and humid so having a doormat helps to keep the room mudfree.
Overall the experience was amazing and relaxing.

Beautiful grounds other areas lacking

The location is beautiful and the grounds are a paradise for walking and bird watching. The rooms are some of the highest price in the area and are spartan at best. For example, a travel pack of tissues is supplied instead of a box and we needed to track down an extra roll of toilet paper. Since you are so far from town eating at the on site restaurant seems like a plus until the poor service, mediocre dinners and high prices sink in. The best was when we were told the wine list wasn't valid and go check out the wall of wines. No price list was supplied and the first one pointed out was $160 (we did find one for $30ish after a while). Two nights of dinner and both nights no one ever came back after the food was delivered until meal was over. Coffee tour is the going rate in Boquete area but consisted of standing in a coffee row and then being shown equipment with nothing demonstrated or even detailed. There are lots of hiking trails in the area so while the grounds were great, when we return we will be at a place closer to town and more focused on service.

We had an enjoyable long weekend relaxing and spending time in Boquete region. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. We stayed in the smaller rooms which we loved, had a porch area with a hammock, and table and chairs. I took my 22 year old nephew and he was as thrilled with the Finca as I was.

Waaay Up There.

Worth the drive, even if your heart is racing by the time you get there.

Finca Lérida is best accessed by a 4X4, but is not necessary. Our sedan easily made its way up the mountainside and found a parking spot right beside our room.

The rooms are spacious and serviced regularly. Excellent shower with steaming hot water. Toiletries are among the best quality and refilled on a daily basis or when necessary. Every room has a spectacular view of the mountainside and Lérida's will manicured gardens.

You will see coffee planted all along the mountainsides and a variety of fruit trees and flowering plants amongst the rooms. The amount of bird species is incredible and the hummingbird ferocity in which it protects its territory from others makes for an interesting irony.

The service is anything but ferocious, and the staff will do what they can to help your stay be that much better. The breakfast is included and is served al a carte. The amount you are served could be increased but is ultimately fresh and healthy.

A stay at Finca Lérida is definitely worth a few days. The walk around the grounds and the hike through the forest provides for fantastic sights and sounds and is a romantics paradise. Enjoy!

Great view, terrible experience

The positive thing about this hotel is the view and the natural environment. It's located in the top of Boquete mountains in a place with great view, lots of different flowers and birds. However, the hotel is extremely overpriced and the experience we had was terrible:
1) The rooms are old and need to be renovated
2) There are not enough parking lots close to the hotel rooms
3) The road that leads to the main area of the hotel is terrible with only one way. I fought with other guests for 2 consecutive days in this road because it didn't have space for 2 cars and other guests didn't want to go backwards in the road. The hotel staff should control the car traffic there, but they were not prepared for that.
4) The weather was cold, but they had a problem with the water heather and we had to take a cold shower for 1 day
5) The hotel do not have power generator and we also stayed for almost 1 day without electricity
6) The service in the hotel restaurant is extremely slow and the staff is not prepared to receive more than a couple of guests.

Worth the cost, but does have some quirks

Finca Lerida is worth the splurge, but it has it's quirks. The hotel staff is super friendly and willing to help, but they don't always know what's going on. The hotel is beautiful with two person hammocks in front of each room that you can sit in to admire the beautiful garden and all of the birds it attracts. They have a good restaurant on site with a simple but sufficient breakfast included. The walls are thin, so hope you don't get loud people next door. We were in two rooms, one with a very hi-tech shower we unfortunately didn't get to use, but both bathrooms were very nice. They have impractical sinks and the toilet might run all night, but they look nice. The beds are comfortable, there are screens on half of the windows to let in the cool night air and they have black-out curtains. The in-room safe is large enough for a laptop. You can hike around the property (really cool) and they have a very thorough coffee tour for an additional cost, unfortunately no deal for hotel guests. There is wi-fi, but it's not secure. There is a bar with a fireplace, which was a nice place to relax. I only wish they had coffee available there for guests in the morning! Otherwise, Finca Lerida is located about 20 minutes outside of town up a winding road that typically has pedestrians to watch out for, but it's quiet, beautiful and peaceful.

Beautiful setting on the slope of a mountain, working coffee plantation, wonderful tour and explanation of the coffee business by Caesar (pay additional $35), gourmet restaurant, wonderful and easy hiking trails around the property and nearby into the mountains. No pool but lots to do for 2-3 days.

Get away from it all

Tucked away in the hills above Boquete on a 45 hectare farm, this is a great mountain getaway. It's really a 15-20 minute drive north of the town, so you have to be willing to drive a windy road if you're doing tours, but it's worth it. We were in quiet comfort, surrounded by birds who were attracted by the food left for them by the staff. We saw more birds here than we did on any of our walks. You can wander around the grounds and go off on several trails, as well as traipsing through the coffee plants--we got lost at one point and just headed through the trees in the general direction till we hit the hotel grounds again. A large breakfast was included and, although we were disappointed that the restaurant is under remodeling, the bar restaurant had excellent food--just a limited menu that was always the same.

The family that owned it for generations had to sell three years ago so there is new management. We had hoped to meet the family so that was a surprise, but there is a lot of history anyway.

Finca Lerida is beautiful and can be peaceful.

This is a beautiful Coffee Farm with flowers everywhere and trails for hiking around. We stayed for 5 nights, two of which we were upgraded to a junior suite that has a jacuzzi and 2 fireplaces. The regular rooms are comfortable with a wonderful view from your porch and hammock. The walls are very thin so you hear everything from the neighbors, which in our case, was a screaming child having an endless tantrum that the mother seemed to ignore. We had to move to another room. The junior suites are large and very nice, but I don't recommend using the fireplace in your room as they are poorly designed and you you will have a room full of smoke and all of your clothing will reek like fire. Ask the staff to start your fire using the fireplace on your porch. The coffee tour is excellent, I recommend it. Lots of hummingbirds too and painted bird houses. The food in the restaurant was good, but the older breakfast waitress is a sourpuss when serving your complimentary breakfast. No coffee maker's in the room, but it is one of the few places that serves local coffee.

Diamond in the rough! Higher altitude offers a nice temperate climate with decreased humidity. The staff is amazing. I wish I could have them teach people in the US. Disney customer service looks pretty shabby in comparison.

The only complaint I have is that the way they print the bill is very confusing.

Much more than a hotel!

Finca Lerida was one of the highlights of our 3 week family vacation in Panama. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. They gladly arranged activities for us with guides in Boquete and the surrounding area. We enjoyed the setting of staying at a real, working coffee finca. We watched the coffee picking families arrive to work each day and learned about the process of turning coffee berries into what we drink. The breakfast that was included with our stay was beautiful and delicious. We enjoyed the restaurant so much that we decided to have dinner there 2 nights of our stay, and everything was lovely. It was nice to have hiking trails on the property as well. There was a variety of hikes to explore the jungle just outside the door of our room! Everything is beautifully landscaped, with an abundance of plants and flowers. Finca Lerida was a delightful, quiet retreat and I would highly recommend it.

Very nice boutique hotel but it is a bit far from town. It is an easy drive but not walkable. The plants and flowers are magnificent and the birds that they attract incredible. Definitely take advantage of the trails above the finca. The resturaunt is very good to great. A touch more variety would be appreciated but no complaints.

Getting to the Hotel is a little bit far from Boquete itself (around 30 minutes going uphill) and has a lot of closed curves, but the views are breathtaking. The Hotel is surrounded by coffee plants and the rooms (cabains) are very rustic, spacious and nice.The staff was not welcoming but they helped whenever you asked to. Overall its a great place to stay, but there is not a lot of activities to do.

A room with a view and a home in the garden

I was wowed when we walked up to Finca Lerida; what a spectacular place if you love Flowers and Birds. We also ate there and it was delicious! My favorite part was taking the hiking trail up the mountain over to the waterfall.
The room was a little cramped but the bathroom was the best we ever had. The shower was a full body state of the art equipment (Never had a nicer more elaborate shower)! If I ever go back to Panama I would love to stay here again.

Little Norway in Panama

When you fist arrive you think you are in Norway. The cabins have the same design, materials and colours as you will find in Norway. The garden is beautiful and the surroundings are great. The rooms are very noisy and you can follow the conversation and (big screen TV) word by word. They have warned for that, so no points lost here. Our room smelled bad because a vanilla stinkstrip was glued under the night table. Unless you like the smell of Paris' taxis this is disgusting. Otherwise the rooms are fine and the shower and bed are very good.

The problem is the staff. There are a few employees who tend to think that guests are a nuisance that should be ignored. Lousy service at breakfast, in coffeeshop and in the bar.

it looks like the money comes in a bit to easy for Lerida and they should be a little sharper. We stayed two nights and that was OK.

Two of our kids (10,14), my husband and I stayed at Finca Lerida and had a wonderful time. There were hammocks and 2 chairs on each room's front porch and from ours we enjoyed watching the birds, the clouds, the sunrise, the mountains, the flowers. The property is nestled in the mountains with a spectacular view. There are bird feeders throughout the property where the staff put overripe bananas so we were able to see a multitude of colorful birds. There are well tended flowering plants throughout. The breakfasts (not buffet) were included for all four of us each morning. The waitstaff in the restaurant were always cheerful and helpful. A 3 course dinner was included for 2 of us for each of our nights there. The food was delicious. There are coffee tours, birding tours and hiking tours available for an extra charge but we did not take them. Since we stayed on the property we were able to get a hiking trail map and were able to hike on our own throughout the property for close to 4 hours. It was incredible and we were even able to spot one of the quetzal birds! The room was clean and comfortable, the shower was very modern. The hotel is a bit away from the town of Boquete but it was not a problem since we had a car. The hotel is gated with an attendant to let guests in. There is Wi-Fi in a comfortable, large bar area. At night we kept the windows in the room open and enjoyed perfect temperatures.
