The room was fine and large at the property. The check-in process is inefficient and especially frustrating after a long drive. There were no staff at the motel during our entire stay. We had 3 phonThere was no welcome arrival or departure, which one usually enjoys with a small family business. The codes could be sent on the day of arrival like most other self check-in properties. We were advised there would be a $20 late fee if we arrived late. This could be avoided. The instructions could also be emailed if it was deemed too difficult for guests with photos.

Very happy with this lovely little place. Very clean and the staff are super helpful. Sharon the cleaner went above and beyond and helped us out when our car broke down. She allowed us to stay again in the same room and recommend a mechanic. Would recommend this place as a great cheap stay on travels to Jervis bay

We had a terrible experience checking in as no one was at the property, even though we had provided a specific arrival time. Upon calling the phone numbers displayed on the front door, we were told that staff were unable to locate our reservation and that we would have to wait for the property manager to answer his phone. I became very distressed as it was New Years Eve weekend and every property in the area was fully booked. As all the car spots assigned to each motel room were full and our reservation could not be found, I assumed that the motel may have overbooked. We are very grateful that a staff member, who was not supposed to be working at the time, answered her mobile and resolved the miscommunication, though we did wait outside of the property for an hour and postpone our dinner reservations. The stay was otherwise fine and we didn’t have any complaints, it was just a disappointing welcome to the only 2.5 days we had off as a break during the holiday season.

It’s a good budget accomodation with a great location close to all the main attractions in Shoalhaven region. The check-in process is really cumbersome and it’s all remote check-in. The rooms felt a bit smelly too. There’s not much amenities within this motel. Chose this once it you’re in a tight budget and is looking for a good location nearby Jervis Bay.

Nice n relaxing 3 night stay. Room was very spacious, king bed was comfy. Fridge was big enough to store stuff for my 3 night stay. Bathroom has big vanity handy for our toiletries. And very happy that floor did not get overly wet after each shower. Good to hv eateries within walking distance for dinner. All in all very happy with our short break at Sanctuary Point.

We loved the stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Location was good, easy 10-15 min drive to Hyams and Huskisson and 30 min into Nowra.
We walked the trail by the bay in the morning and enjoyed spotting kangaroos in the area in the evening. We traveled with our dog and paid extra for this which is understandable as the room had carpet.

Confusing Check-in Time Limits

No one was available to open the front door, so I never even got to stay and ended up sleeping the car.

The check-in limit online was midnight. Arrived a little after 10pm to find the doors locked and the lights off except for a storage room. Pounded on front door and no one answered. The phone numbers provided on the door do not connect from international telephones. Sent message through hotels.com and no one replied. It is the following morning now, and still haven't heard from anyone.

The room was booked early in the afternoon, so there should be enough notice that I was coming. They sent an auto-generated message and I replied to it.

Perhaps adjust the check-in limits on-line or give instructions on what to do for later check-ins so people know in advance. Not sense in driving 4 hrs from Canberra to sleep on the side of the road.

I have had a lovely stay at Bay and Basin Hotel. The room was cosy and warm with facilities to heat a meal or make a cup of tea or coffee. At night, after a lovely hot shower, I snuggled into bed and watched the large screen tv and it was so quiet outside. I felt very secure but close to everything. Thanks for the lovely break Bay and Basin Hotel 😊I’ll be back.

We always have a pleasant stay at Bay and Basin in Sanctuary Point. The staff are super nice and helpful. Beds are comfortable and rooms are spacious. Super chuffed that we also got a room upgrade. Would definitely recommend this motel!

Check in was a phone call and vocal instructions on how to access the property and room never saw a staff member or person and so any problems couldn't be relayed and was a bit painful waiting till after 2 pm before you could even call the owner or manager.

The property is well located in terms of exploring the Jervis Bay area, just a few minutes drive to Vicentia, Huskisson & Hyams Beach. While in the Sanctuary Point locality, it's all short walks to the shops, restaurants & take away shops. Bay & Basin by itself is a very comfortable place of stay with a well maintained & clean room (Family Room) and it's got all the basic necessities expected for this kind of accommodation, eg. nice comfy bed, Aircon, clean bathroom complemented by a steady stream of warm temp shower water. There is also a Microwave & Coffee/Tea Facility. A Toaster would be a good addition to the room, just a suggestion. The remote check-in process was a breeze, thanks to Kerry for guiding us through the way to access the property. There are a few more things that are good to mention about this place but these are the main ones that I can think of. Would consider staying again in the future & recommend Bay & Basin as a great place of stay when in the Jervis Bay area.

The term \"Boutique Hotel\" is misleading for this motel. It's an old building, but the room is modern and clean, although the bathroom seems to be designed for tall people. I'm 182cm(6ft) tall and found the basin too high. There was no room service during my four night stay leading to my suggestion that a two night stay is the limit.

Rooms are all upstairs, so you have to lift your luggage yourself to a room with zilch storage. There is a tiny bathroom with no exhaust. No staff … bare minimum tea/coffee and toiletries. It’s all clean but old and musty carpets. Why is it a motel or a lodge … it can be a warehouse of old furniture.

We were greeted by a huge huntsman. The carpet was very dirty the hot water tap in sink didnt work both hot and cold taps in shower fell off. We were abused by a lady across from us because oir children woke her in the morning (we were in a family room) there was no spare toilet paper and our towels wernt refresed the next day. The beds have bed bugs. Overrall we had a bad experience which is disappointing as the hotel is very beautiful amd we would of loved to return again. The foyer also smells very uninviting.

Overall, the room was basic but clean and comfortable. Shower hot and water pressure good. Usual amenities in the room, could have done with some tissues though. The Lodge is on the main road but was fairly quiet, we slept well. There are no ground floor rooms, and access is only by stairs, not good for people with mobility issues. A couple of extra hooks or rails is needed to hang towels in the bathroom, especially for 2 people. Only one (1) key is issued which is not ideal, sometimes my husband and I go separate ways and trying to organise this with 1 key was challenging. There is no reception or personal touch. There is a list of mobile numbers on the door to try and get in touch with someone to check in. I needed an extra towel and luckily I found a housekeeping person or I would have had to try ringing a bunch of mobiles. No information about the Lodge in the room, I had to ring the mobiles again to find out what to do with the key when I was leaving. An information folder in the room would have been helpful. The mobile numbers are only listed on the from door. Not sure how housekeeping works if you need extra linen etc. I just made our own bed and luckily I brought extra coffee & tea. The Lodge is very convenient to everything, right next to the local shops and the Country Club is across the road. I would stay again but I cannot see value for the money.

My travelling companions gained access quite easily by ringing the phone number. However, that wasn't my experience. I rang the land line 4 times and the mobile number once before I finally made contact via a return phone call and gained access. It was windy and cold waiting outside for a response to my call. Not impressed with the check in process.

We booked and stayed at this place on the 9th of Feb 2024, our nights stay involved no sleep, as there was someone continually up and down the hall humming ! A door opening and shutting throughout the early hours, someone on a mirophone or intercom telling them ( whilst they knocking on a door outside i believe) to get back in the door at around 5AM !!! loud music, swearing that was out of control . My guess was it was maybe a permanent tennant ! Not quiet sure! We had no choice but to bail out of this place at around 5.30 AM ! And leave strategically so as we didnt upset or disturb this person ! Shower had sand all through it ! Lighting was terrible in our room , you could not sleep on the bed as it was beyond its useable service. I wasnt going to write this review ! As i left the owner a text this morning explaining whats gone on and therefore asking for a return call so we could chat about a refund etc ! All i got back from this lady was “Great” and no return call !!! Be vary wary staying in this place !!!! This is the first time i have ever complained about anything !!

The place was clean and tidy. However, the air conditioning did not work properly. Although the manager gave us reassurance that there was nothing wrong with the a/c, the unit still did not provide any cool air the entire time it was on. The pillows were also not very comfortable. Overall, the stay was ok but could have been better.

The outside of this property is not so inviting; don’t be put off because inside is a very clean and comfortable room with all modern conveniences. Luxurious mattress and pillows, crisp white bedding, a fridge, freezer and microwave. Bathroom is clean and the shower has good pressure. Parking is easy and there are pet friendly rooms available. Checking in was easy and the host very friendly. I’d recommend this motel for anyone wanting to stay in this area.

Room was comfortable. Strange check in as no reception area. Had to call a number and be talked through a process to access the front door and then our room ( where a fob key was available). Ok, but we had no prior warning. Another guest arrived just after we checked in and didn’t have a phone ( overseas visitors). We phoned on their behalf so they could get access to their room. I don’t know what they would have done if we hadn’t been there?

The huge rooms were way better in person, the photos online dont do this place justice, the private bathroom is massive with very hot water available with great water pressure (adjustable)

The bed was extreamly comfterable with a calming decored room, traveled down for a couple nights from QLD and really enjoyed our stay, perfect service, friendly staff and lovely local community.
