The hotel was lovely, it reminded us of a national trust property and the stained glass and the views over the coastline were amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room had a four poster bed in an actual turret and beautiful views of the coast out of both large windows. The breakfast had buffet options and the food itself was very good quality. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was great, some were just happy with the buffet, cereal, fruit yoghurt, toast, juices but the full english was really good and you could choose any combination of the full english, cooked fresh specially to your order. We only ate in one evening and the food was ample and beautifully cooked. Bar prices were good, not near as expensive as many hotels so nice to stay in on an evening. The original features of the hotel are wonderful, some reviews suggest modernising but that would ruin such a historic building. The only downside for me was the mattress and pillow's could use an upgrade and I prefer carpeted room but minor niggles. We will definately return.

Although the room was not cheap, the bathroom was unclean and the overall condition of the room was very tired. Pillows were flat, windows were grubby. Breakfast options were very limited, with few healthy choices available. Most concerning was the sheer number of cameras throughout the property, which felt intrusive and quite unsettling.

Tired and in need of some tlc, views are stunning.

Our room was extremely tired and dated, desperately in need of some tlc. Plaster from the ceiling had fallen down and was caught in the dirty blood stained linen that draped around the four poster bed, had the linen not been there then the lucky person lying underneath it would have had a nasty wake up call!! Undeniably the castle has spectacular views which is what you are paying for.

Fabulous location. Views amazing. Breakfast was lovely & fresh. Well stocked bar.
Very old building with a lot of period features. Turret bedroom was a nice size and bed & pillows were comfy but in need of some TLC. Would benefit from blackout blinds. The bathroom was snug to say the least. Could do with some extra added touches, like some sort of a shelf in the shower cubicle to put toiletries on and a hand towel hook next to the sink.

This is a small hotel - about 10-12 rooms. Very limited menu and very basic choice for breakfast (I suppose you can’t have a big choice if there are only a handful of guests!).
The restaurant is open for breakfast for about an hour and also for about an hour in the evening for dinner. The small restaurant/bar has very limited seating - so you’re asked to move/make way for others if you’re only having a beer! Nice view of the sea from restaurant.

Viktor the waiter definitely wins in his work - he is the only person morning & night that serves you - and he serves you well.
Overall, this is a small hotel that is a 3-star at best. Not sure why Expedia would rate it as a 4-star! The rooms are dated but acceptable.
There’s ample parking for the small hotel.

We enjoyed our 3 night break in room 5. The views were spectacular from all 3 windows. Bed was comfortable and room a good size . I have marked it slightly down for 2 reasons. 1. The bathroom is tiny, quite difficult to manoeuvre, but functional enough.
2. Breakfast. The choice of cooked breakfast was limited to full breakfast or parts thereof. Porridge was available but not on the menu. Eggs were undercooked until we asked for them more well done.
It’s a lovely location , good parking ( if the other residents park considerately). Easy to get into town with a nice walk though a nature reserve to the beach.

We had a nice stay at this hotel; friendly staff, nice food, good sized bedroom and lovely views.

We had a standard turret bedroom and whilst it was spacious, the en suite was really small and felt like a shower had been squeezed into a room that used to be a toilet room. There was no space to swing an earwig let alone a cat! The toilet had a cigarette burn on it and the lid on the plastic cistern didn’t fit on the tank. There were no towel rails and no comfortable space to get dry after a shower or get dressed. The state of the fixture and fittings in the en suite was dated and in need of updating.

We DID have a nice stay at this hotel.

Lovely old fashioned hotel in a great position for incredible sweeping sea views and also proximity to Barmouth ( 15 min walk). Lovely overnight stay here. We ate in the restaurant and the food was first class. Nothing fancy, just simple food, generous portions, cooked fresh tasted delicious.
Breakfast was excellent too. Service also excellent.
Only reason for 4* for comfort was because the mattress was too hard for our liking - but this is purely a subjective view.
We would stay here again.

Wonderful 4 night stay.

The hotel is lovely. It is a very old building but in the best location overlooking a vast expanse of the beaches and Cardigan bay. The owners Mike and Trudy are a lovely friendly couple who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. We also have to mention Victor who made us laugh every night in the restaurant. We came home after a 4 night stay feeling that we had made friends who we hope to see again next year.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
The decor may be dated for some but we thought it was impressive & was kept clean.
They’ve kept it true to its history.
The view from our balcony was stunning. Being able to sit & relax & watch the sunset was a memory we will cherish.
The room & en-suite were small but plenty for what we needed, which was just a base in which to go explore from.
The staff were very welcoming & couldn’t do enough for us.
The breakfast & evening meals were lovely.
We cannot recommend this place highly enough.
We will most definitely be visiting again, and again.

Nice one-night stay in room with brilliant sea views. Pleasant owners and staff, very good and plentiful breakfast too. Pub grub style evening meals nothing fancy, but tasty and good portions. Room fairly small but nicely decorated. Some of the communal areas retain attractive historic features, but some aspects are now just dated rather historic. A few areas where maintenance is needed, e.g. several blown glazing panels in the conservatory dining area and also some aspects of the car park and grounds. Overall, more 2 to 3 star rather than the 4 star but had a good time and would recommend and return.

The property is unique with an interesting history. The staff were friendly and helpful, decent large bath towels, oh what joy! Stunning views including the dolphins. The hotel is rather tired, which is a shame because is is such an interesting building. We couldn’t understand why our bed in a turret room faced away from the sea (it didn’t look as if a lot of effort/cost would be required to turn it around). Extremely well positioned hotel which offers a great location with spectacular views out to sea and a short stroll into Barmouth!
The Breakfast was very good with a good selection. We did not have our evening meal there, so cannot comm, although it looked pretty full the 2 nights we were there.

One Night Stay

We had a very pleasant stay at Twr Graig Castle. We stayed for one night on a Sunday to break a longer journey to the south of Wales. The hotel room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
