Breakfast scam

Be aware of breakfast. I booked 2 rooms including breakfast at £16 per person. After accepting booking I was told breakfast would be via a voucher for cafe in town (1 mile away). This is not what I wanted so I asked several times for the breakfast element to be refunded and the owners refused to do this. To add insult, the cafe voucher was value of £11 so a £5 immediate loss to me for the inconvenience and limitation of cafe food.
All I wanted and expected was breakfast to be refunded (before I arrived and discovered this) and I would have left a positive review but the customer service has left me bitter and it is simply not necessary.

If you want peace and quiet, look no further

Such was the quiet we experienced, both of us slept like logs which was particularly welcome since we were on a pairs golf trip and needed our rest! Plenty of hot water in the shower, comfortable beds and decent coffee & tea making facilities for the morning get go. A definite mapping marker a return visit one day.

We chose to stay at this B and B out of several properties at the same price as it included breakfast ( confirmed in our booking email as advertised)
On arrival there was a laminated note left in the room advising breakfast was not being served currently. There was however a voucher for £5 for a local cafe which wouldn’t even cover the cost of 2 coffees.
If we’d have known in advance that breakfast was not included we would have booked elsewhere.
Disappointing as it really was a lovely location

Lovely property and staff but it’s a good 1/2 hour walk to the town which is fine but it’s along A roads and B roads with no pavements. If you had children or a pram it would be really unsafe. No food or drink available at the guest house itself. Other than it’s a good place to stay.

What a BEAUTIFUL location with a stunning view of the mountains. Close to both the Torrent and Precipice Hiking paths!! (incredible) Close to the friendly, fun town of Dogellau with some great places to eat and shop. Close to the Mach Loop which was amazing to see the fighter jets go over!! Our family LOVED staying here. We so hope to visit again, if able, in the future. 5 stars in our book!!!

Lovely setting with a nice clean room but was disappointing not to see anyone to welcome us or to check all ok, breakfast was listed as additional when booking but found out that no breakfasts currently served, from arriving to leaving we spoke to no one making the stay a little disappointing, pillows not great also, such a shame as with a little bit of effort the stay could have been excellent.

A tidy guest house with reasonable spec. Very clean.

One thing to note is that it is said to be 'pet friendly' on hotels.com but in fact this is only partially the case. Some rooms are in the house and dogs are not allowed in these - so best to check first.

We would stay again - it is handy for Dolgellau and Barmoth.

Family room no. 8 provided excellent value with separate bedroom and living area with kitchen. Accessed by staircase but similar family room (no. 5) available on ground floor if stairs present difficulty. We shall definitely book here again when visiting Dolgellau area.

Didn’t seem like a 4 star guesthouse

I know this Hotel guesthouse has many great reviews, but we didn‘t feel like it was an 4 star guesthouse. The good things first. Everything was clean and the location is quite and beautiful. The shower was more powerful than imagined it to be for an old cottage. The not so good was that we hardly slept as the mattress was just too soft for us and every little move you made woke up your partner. Breakfast wasn’t very tasty, with cheap tasting sausages. You would of expected better quality sausages in a place that has 4 stars. One day the big tea pod had only one teabag in it, which made the tea taste week. Staff didn’t bother to ask if everything was OK. Eggs were undercooked. Muffins that were available, not sure how old they were but they tasted stale on our first day, and they remained on display for another 3 days. We used our towels more than once. Hang them up, but when we needed new towels we threw them on the floor as instructed by a sign, but they never got changed. It was too late in the day to do anything about it. Maybe our expectations were just too high for a 4 star establishment.

Lovely 2 bedroom cottage. Only booked for 1 night as we were meeting up with other family in the area. Liked the option of being able to cook for ourselves if we wanted to or have a cooked breakfast (which we did) £5 each was a good price we thought.

A diamond in the countryside.

This 450 year old hotel guesthouse is nestled in the beautiful Welsh countryside overlooking lush green fields and surrounded by mountains. It was wonderful to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. This was case of the photos online matching the expected experience. I will be back again.

Attractive longhouse style building in a nice location on a farm which also caters for caravans and tents. We stayed in the main house where the upstairs rooms are accessed by a staircase that has an awkward turn/step at the top making it a little tricky for those with mobility problems. Only stayed for one night, but a very characterful house with perfectly adequate facilities.

A quiet location and excellent for our overnight stop with our 2 dogs. Great for people who enjoy walking. There was no evening meal facilities but there are plenty of eating places in Dolgellau which is a short car ride away. Breakfast was not included in the price but was available.

Beautiful place.

Nice location, very tranquil. Overlooking hills. Asked for veg brekkie twice, only got toast, mushrooms and beans. If you stay in room 1, the tv signal is a bit poor but if you re-tune the tv it seems to work just fine. Other than that, everything else was spot on. Its an old cottage with original features such as wooden beams and old fashioned doors and windows.

Recently stayed here and would never return.
The lady who cleaned our room threw our pets medication away and then when she retrieved it from the bin ask “are you happy now”.
Breakfast was also horrendous. £7 for scrambled egg and a piece of toast?
Also when I went to hand the keys back one night early at around 7pm they were cooking the breakfast for the next day.
Absolutely disgraceful and seriously not worth £233 pound for 3 nights.

Cute, convenient, great value for money

Absolutely loved this place. After a long drive I was welcomed with a lovely cup of tea. My room could be accesss easily from the outside meaning it was easy to come and go as I pleased. Room was fairly small but had everything in it that I needed (apart from the WiFi code .. remember to ask for it when you check in). Breakfast was delicious and there was lots of it. Also well signposted from the post code. Had a great stay, and I’d definitely go back.

Very pretty setting near to Dolgellau. Room was fine, with comfy beds and bathroom. Didn't appear to be any dining options within walking distance but Dolgellau town was only a short drive away. However it seems to get very busy of an evening so booking a table would be recommended. The guest house does serve breakfast which smelt good and was popular, although we didn't try it as we had an early start
