Stunning location, friendly host

I had a lovely few days here, the hotel is in the most stunning location. The room was spotlessly clean, and had all I needed. The owner of the hotel was lovely and very friendly and accommodating e.g. to an early checkout. I ate there one evening and the food was excellent. Breakfast is also very good!

I will visit again

Ideally situated for walkers. The hotel is 1 min walk from the enterance to the National Park. The room was immaculate. Plenty of hot water and the shower pressure was very good. Some jets flew over its car park during our stay as it is on the Mach Loop. That was an unexpected treat. The owner is very attentive and both evening meal and packed lunch was really nice.

Warm, friendly welcome with excellent food

Warm, friendly welcome by the owner.

As it turned out, we were the only visitors staying in the hotel, so had a nice opportunity for a chat over a beer - well stocked with what appeared to be the full range of bottled beers from Purple Moose Brewery of Porthmadog.

Food was fantastic - both of us had the lamb which was stunning. Lots of it & full of flavour. The accompanying vegetables were equally full of taste. We can confirm that the website comment regarding food: \"Our chef Darren cooks & prepares excellent freshly prepared food using local welsh suppliers & products. Darren’s style of cooking is unpretentious, uncomplicated yet well presented & cooked plates with generous portions of homemade food.\" is absolutely spot on!

Equally, breackfast the next morning, though there were only the two of us staying had a full choice of cereals & fruit laid out - all prepared fresh - and again, the \"Full Welsh\" breakfast set us up for the day's activities.

Decent-sized room with equally roomy en-suite completed the accommodation.

As there was only the two of us, we stayed in the visitors' lounge rather than going into the Residents' One.

A lovely place to stay. The gentleman who runs this guest house is very friendly and welcoming. The guesthouse is a beautiful old building with buckets of character and original features.
The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and great view. The food was a real highlight. We had an evening meal and then breakfast in the morning and everything was delicious. Lots of choice and everything was really great quality. It was such a treat to see fresh fruit on the breakfast table after staying somewhere the previous few nights where the food was not so good!
If you're in the area, exploring or hiking this is absolutely a brilliant place to stay!

A gem of a place

We arrived quite late but was met by staff and shown to a very pleasant ground floor room. The road is right by the window only a hedge hides it from view luckily the road was fairly quiet but if busier this could be a problem. The view of the mountains opposite was very special though. No phone signal for us ...internet is a bit hit and miss in the room but just about workable....no tv which for some could be a down point but was ok by us. Breakfast timings were a bit harsh 0730 - 0830 but it was good .....we both had the full English ! Hotel was clean and we felt safe under the current conditions. Generally quiet due to restrictions hope it picks up for all concerned. We didn’t get chance to use the bar or restaurant in the evening due to our late arrival but the bar looked cosy.
Overall a good stay and will visit again as this hotel is spoilt by its fantastic location .....ideal for plane spotters as it’s right in the heart of the Mach Loop! Prices are a little high but understandable that some costs have to be recovered so not a gripe ......and understandable as only limited rooms can be used due to restrictions.

Freindly service and a delicious breakfast

it was a quiet night for the hotel and so I got very personalised service, which was great.

With a limited menu on offer that evening I enjoyed a good burger, made to the hotel's own recipe by a local butcher. It was pretty good.
Breakfast was as good as I could have hoped for. Fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurt, and a freshly cooked breakfast with local sausage, bacon, black pudding and eggs. Delicious.
All for a very good price. I'd go back

no admittance after 24:00

For a hotel that boats to be \"much more than a Snowdonia Hotel\" I was extremely upset to be told that I could not get back into the hotel after 12.00 even if I checked in before the 11.00pm cut off. I was told that they do not give keys to guests as they are not a hotel but a guest house!!!! So be warned if you don't want an early night don't stay here.

Beautiful views close to Tywyn

We arrived later than expected (8.45pm) on a Friday after the hotel had finished serving and there was nowhere within a 20 minute drive where we could get food. We were offered a choice if pringles, nuts, cake and a drink from the bar which we could buy to stave our hunger. Boy were we were ready for our superb breakfast the following morning.

The hotel and rooms were clean, well equipped and the beds comfy (just a bit creaky) and we did have a good night's sleep.

However, we couldn't get a WiFi or mobile signal. For us this wasn't a problem but it is worth mentioning. There was no TV in the room but this also did not bother us.

It is a good idea to select from the menu as it is, rather than requesting adjustments. It makes life a lot easier for everyone. If you have certain dietary requirements or likes / dislikes, I would mention them at time of booking so they are well prepared.

We would definitely be happy to stay again and perhaps explore the area a bit more. We only stayed a single night as we were participating in the annual Tywyn \"Race the train\" event - a great event. 😀

Charming hotel in the heart of the Mach Loop area

We only spent one night here but our stay was quite nice and would come back! Gordon and Michelle were very welcoming. we stayed here primarily for the location, within two miles of Cad West, a primary viewing location to photograph low-flying fighter jets. We enjoyed the setting, facilities and country charm. Our room was well appointed and roomy, so was the bathroom. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious - both dinner and breakfast. Interned was only available in the bar area, but we knew this at the time of the reservation. This can be a bit challenging when you are on the road and making travel plans as you go. We managed and survived. The no TV in the room was not an issue for us. Our room was next to the motorway but the double-pane windows kept the noise away. We truly enjoyed our stay and wish we had more time to explore the area.

Only Disappointment \"Hotel\" in our 3 week trip:(

Arrived and did not feel welcomed at all. Uncomfortable feeling right when we walked in. Had a few questions and was immediately told to sit and wait. Many things at hotel NOT as advertised (WiFi not accessible in rooms and rooms stuffy) and had to hand devices to host for him to enter WiFi password-bizarre! Meals were very uncomfortable and host was hovering as we ate, was afraid to ask for butter. We stayed in numerous B&Bs on our three week holiday and this was the worst. We booked for two nights and only stayed for one. Also, requested a refund as soon as we got there and the host lied about refund policy. We left for an outing and the host wanted the key to the room--really?? I would not recommend.

Great hotel, excellent food, shame about the wifi

The hotel is perfect for access to the local countryside and the various walks in the area.
The hotel itself is good, the facilities are clean and well maintained.
There is a small bar downstairs with a couple of comfortable lounges to sit in at the end of the day.
Food in the restaurant is excellent and I'd recommend eating in rather than trying elsewhere. Breakfasts are great too.
The only slight downside is the wifi connection, the hotels website says that it's slow and only accessible from the bar and how right they are. If you really need to rely on internet access then don't stay here because you'll struggle to stay online and it'll spoil your experience. If however, you can cope without internet access for a day or two then I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel because it's peaceful, comfortable with a great restaurant.

Friendly proprietor. Did not meet any other staff. Breakfasts were on an epic scale. I had to miss on some items later on. Well cooked and presented. Very old house with exposed beams in restaurant area. My room was accessed from stairs right in the middle of the restaurant. Not much else around so very quiet. Main road at the front but I was not aware of it as my room was at the rear. Stunning location at the very foot of Cader Idris. Restaurant in the hotel served amazing food - a hidden gem, the menu doesn't give any indication at the quality of the food. Excellent Black Dragon cider served in the bar, too.
