Outside bay area was nice but the service was terrible. To start we checked in at 11 on Friday, was told we would get a text when the room was ready and we did not. Ended up getting our room keys at 6pm if it wasn't for us calling and asking. The next morning we asked for new towels and nothing was brought to our room. Sand everywhere on the floor when we first got in. The building seems old and simply not kept nice. 2 beds were squeezed in a room thats a size that fits 1. Not a great experience and it was a pricy stay so was expecting more than what we got.

Gave an extended weekend trip to my sister and brother in law for their 59th birthdays. They had an amazing relaxing time. They are repeat visitors at the Palms because it is second to none on Ocean Beach. Bicycles, beach chairs, umbrellas provided making it stress free. Staff is always accommodating including assisting with luggage at the dock. They took their own boat and the staff still met them and assisted. They had one glitch, the AC in their room suddenly went out (which is unfortunate but it happens). With no stress, they were moved to a cottage which was a substantial upgrade. Management is all about customer service. Highly recommend a stay.

The stay was really good accept the room we thought we booked with you was not what we got. The king room was very small. The hotel said you booked us on that room but when i originally booked it said I was getting a bigger room. Not sure where the mix up was, but the room was claustrophobic & really o my fit a bed with no side tables & no closet

Loved the location of my stay. Had a couple of hiccups with tv and toilet but it was addressed right away and hey , this was their opening weekend so no worries. I was moved to another room and all good. Staff was amazing, felt more like friends . I would definitely come back and I would refer them to friends. The ease of getting to and from the ferry was awesome! Check in/ out was great! Very accommodating and genuine.

Worry free too notch stay

We booked a last minute girls weekend over labor day. The Palms at Fire Island providesd a beautiful experience! Our room was ready upon check-in, 3 hours early! The hotel kept in contact with us via text the entire experience, towels, bikes ,beach accessories, water, whatever we needed was immediate attended to. Hotel was clean, we had a large courtyard with plenty of seating and a plentiful breakfast! Security was top notch. People stated rooms were small on other reviews but we had no issue at all. Room was as expected . Room was high priced but that is as expected for Palms property and the staff and amenities did not disappoint!!

HIGHWAY ROBBERY

From beginning to end, their entire
approach is focused on
convenience for hotel and not the
customer. No one can access the
rooms before 4:30pm even if they
are ready! Staff is rude. Forgot to
give us lock for trolly, towels and
beach equipment. The King size
room was tiny. Air conditioner was
SO LOUD…we had to turn off
because it was too loud. Room was
dirty but they tried to cover it up
with a very gross citrus scent that is
sprayed all over. Breakfast doesn't
start until 8:30 am and at that time,
they are sending you a text
message telling you you need to
vacate the room by 1lam.
Notwithstanding that the next ferry
is at 12:10pm. Whole experience was
awful. It's expensive also and not
worth it in any way, shape or form.
This Hotel is a miss for sure!!!!

BTW I have a broken femur and a service dog and notwithstanding all that they gave us BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION the smallest King they had - notwithstanding my point of comfort being key in my situation

DO NOT STAY HERE - IT'S A RIP OFF AND POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE FAKE. I'm traveling a lot and this was my worst hotel experience ever. To enter or leave the hotel we needed to wade through a ankle deep puddle of canal water (yes, you read that right). The hotel didn't notify us about this in advance and didn't do anything to resolve the situation. In addition the rooms were so tiny that we could hardly open up our suitcases. On top of that rooms were dirty with hairs in the leaking sink and smelly blankets, we woke up covered by mosquito bites and the \"great view\" that was advertised was to a dark wall that was only two feet away from the windows. They were also freezing cold and we weren't able to regulate the AC. As if that wasn't enough the rooms were super noisy. We woke up every time when someone was walking in the corridor and constantly heard noises from the reception. Due to the backyard being flooded we needed to take our breakfast while standing in the reception. The food quality at breakfast was also quite poor - the watermelon was rotten

Positive reviews are fake - the hotel promises benefits in case you leave a positive review. The whole place is a scam - do not go there.

Convenient location, close to bars and restaurants, but not too close hence quite at night. Very friendly and accommodative stuff. Beach chairs, umbrellas, towels and wagons at your convenience. You are able to leave your bags at concierge after you checked out, so don't have to rush from the island or carry bags with you.

The staff was very friendly but the service was beyond poor. Had no maid service for the 2 days I was there and the suite was not very clean. Sand in all the beds and when asking for maid service they kept replying they are on there way and then never showed up. For the price you are paying for these suites I would expect exceptional service..

Our room was supposed to be fit for 8 people, but was more of the size for 6. As seen on the website I booked the room on, the amenities included 2 Kings and 2 Doubles, however, what we got were 3 doubles and a pull out couch. When we tried to use the pull out, there were no sheets to put on it and the mattress itself was filthy with dirt. The dishes available to us to use in the small kitchenette were dirty as well, and there were bugs in the utensil drawer. There was also only one bathroom to share between 8, which is near impossible. Housekeeping never made our beds, they would simply just drop off towels and take out garbage. We did enjoy the private area at the back of the hotel, and the staff members were super sweet, but the room itself was highly disappointing.

We stayed at the Palms Bungalow building and had a very nice stay. Just be aware that the rooms are quite small (typical of a FI or NYC hotel room). Only a few feet on the outside of the king bed for walking space. It would be impossible to eat in the room without eating on the bed. Beyond that, The room and hotel itself is clean, we loved access to the bikes, staff is friendly and helpful, especially Amy at the Bay Bar. Would definitely stay again but in a larger suite.

Check -in was at 4:30pm yet our rooms were not ready until almost 6pm. The general manager/owner , Laura was absolutely unconcerned, aloof and unapologetic about the situation when i mentioned it to her. Keycards constantly didnt work. Breakfast was only readily available on the first day because they were guests staying at one of the cottages. When they checked out, it appeared that the rest of us guests staying in what they call \"mini or junior suites\" (which is quite deceiving as these room are so small and no sitting area, simply 2 rooms with an adjoining door) there was no breakfast unless you went hunting for a hotel staff to scrunch together a couple muffins and coffee. The hotel manager only appears to care about guests who stay in the overpriced bungalows and cottages. If you stay in a regular room she has the most demeaning/ cold attitude. There was constant banging of doors and what appeared to be the sound of moving of furniture while we were in our rooms. Thankfully we didnt spend alot of time in our room. i received an email from the Palms asking for feedback which i sent weeks ago and never received a reply or apology for the myriad of issues that were problematic during our 4 day stay (wifi didnt work, shower in my mum's room didnt work on the first day, key card issue almost everyday). Unfortunately the GM is also the owner so there is no recourse in addressing her lack of ability to make EVERYONE staying at the hotel feel appreciated and welcomed.

Our only problem was they booked a party from 3pm until 830 the noise was unbearable the music was so loud it shook the entire room it. So bad we could not stay in room entire time part was on speaker was right below our window it even shook the light fixture so much the bulb broke. All of our ammendities on the sink shelf fell to floor could not hear 2 words of conversation. We understand hotel is there to make money but they should not have rented the surrounding rooms out when it was going to be like this you pay a premium price but could not be in the
room even for a quick nap

Original room booked was not as represented on Travelocity. Room was extremely small and bed was not comfortable. Manager is inexperienced and can be rude. Owner did try to make up for it ( we were moved to a much better room the next night) but they really should hire a more professional manager. We had two bad experiences with her. Check out is at 11. At 10:45 Sunday there were 4 parties on line waiting to check out but NO ONE was at front desk. This same manager finally showed up at 11:05 with the same rude attitude as previous day. Unacceptable, but kudos to Dan (or Don?) from outside bag check etc., who tried to help out at desk. ( Note to owners: he seems like better manager material.)

Small Quarters!

It's a good idea to find out the size of the room you are booking. Ours was approximately 8x7 (no kidding), so after a twin bed is factored in to the floor space, there is very little room to move around or stow luggage. From the foot of the bed to the outside wall, there was less than 18\", and the other direction no more than the width of the door into the room.

Let me preface this review by saying I have lived in Manhattan for the last decade so I am VERY used to small spaces. But the room we stayed in was absurdly and unacceptably small. I came for a girls weekend (all of us aged 30) and we had 4 of us in 2 queen/full beds. The room actually consisted of 2 rooms with a sliding door in the center. Each room was so small that I could stand in the middle of the room with my arms extended and nearly touch all the walls. I could deal with that (as I said I’m a New Yorker and we were barely spending any time in our room) if it wasn’t for the fact that the rooms weren’t exactly the cleanest. When we arrived sand was covering the floors, there were stains on the headboards and under the bed was just plain gross. That being said, the beds were comfortable and the staff was so extremely nice (although it’s made of of mostly teenagers who didn’t know what to do, but it was endearing). The hotel was something we would deal with although for $600/night it’s the worst value I’ve ever gotten. Just absurd. Should be priced at $150/night and then at least you get what you pay for. The saving grace of this hotel was the private Bay Beach. While super tiny, it had a lovely view of the harbor, super comfortable chaise lounges and floats in the water where we spent most of our time, sipping on rocket fuels. And of course there’s Chuck. He runs this place and is THE nicest guy in the entire world. His service is incredible. He made it worth it.

I really like that they have a bunch of places for you to hang out if you don't want to go to the beach like the courtyard, and their private sandy beach by the bay. I really like that they give you bikes, and chairs. I did like that the room I stayed in had a mini fridge but it did leak I did tell the staff but nothing was done about it. The free breakfast was only OK better off going to the pantry. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

Our room had 2 windows that faced a utility alley that was as wide as a door (which was how you accessed). Therefore it was dark and dreary room since we saw no sunlight until we exited the room. Should have probably asked for a different room but we got there at night and was dark out already. Had already unpacked and were settled in. Location was great & so was the rest of the Palms & what they had to offer.

our room was above the garbage barge port ...had to listen and smell the garbage trucks from 5:30 am
on SATURDAY morning for 2 hours. Nice accommodations for $1200 + a night !! could have just done Cleggs' for $399 .....
Sunday am , get back from breakfast to pick up luggage and the room is locked ( 11 am on the dot) . they said they would send someone to open room.- never did. went up and got a key ( rude at desk) and lost an hour and missed Ferry .
Otherwise, had a great time with family and friends

It was awesome the young man was so accommodating when renting the bicycles and the wagon and umbrellas and such however I book this through Hotels.com and booked a room with a pull out bed and got a smaller room when asked at the counter about this they said that they would look into it so I thought that I paid for a larger room luckily one of the people that was supposed to travel with us didn’t sleep over so I didn’t push the issue but everybody was really great it was nice and clean
