Great hotel for a quality family time retreat

Stayed at the hotel during the long Eid weekend in June 2025. Despite being very busy and booked to capacity the service and experience was very good due the friendly and cheerful staff of the hotel. Even though we had a booking for a standard ocean view room, upon request we were alotted a much more spacious room with the ocean view in the main building. Even though it lacked a balcony the room size made up for it giving us and our son more room to relax.
The hotel has an amazing private beach and equally stunning large pool area that can accommodate a large number of people without feelung over crowded. Great for some family fun to beat the heat.
Other great amenities include a kids club where you can leave your kid in the care of the super sweet staff, special mention to Dasha who took great care of our son and made sure he had a memorable time there.
The breakfast spread in the morning while not huge, is very adequate and serves a good wholesome first meal of the day. Also the other restaurants and bars have a good variety of cuisines and we enjoyed the inroom service food on both nights. To sum it up we had a great stay and woukd definitely visit again in future. Very recommended.

Fabulous but

Stay was amazing.
The only issue was with the cleanliness of the swimming pool which was dirty and slippery, also it was smelly. This might be due to the huge crowd
But the Hotel should be equipped to manage it.

So relaxed we thought we died.

Best holiday yet!!
Excellent and helpful staff, LOTS of activities to do, and the kids club was amazing!
Only downside was uncomfortable squeeze to use the toilet; remove glass wall or redesign bathroom.
Definitely rebooking.

I was offered a paid upgrade during check in because we were 2 adults 2 kids and I was promised to get two single bed and a king bed but we end up no bed in the room. After 3 times complaint , they delivered a very uncomfortable bed that springs would hurt your back but still only one bed . I asked my original room back but no room was available. Solution offered by manager that they removed additional charges for the upgrade but it still did not help at all because we just wanted to have a good rest for 2 days . All family had to sleep in the same bed eventually

Overall hotel is of a lower standard than 5 star. Checkin took 20 (checkout 10) minutes, room bathroom had a bad smell and the room and corridors were in a poor condition. Whilst most staff were helpful they seemed to have a can’t do attitude as opposed to can do. Breakfast buffet was very disappointing with poor quality food and only 1 live egg cooking station. If I travelled to this area again I would pay a few dollars more and stay in one of the alternative 5 star hotels on the same beach.

Hotel was very nice however there was nothing on the website the hotel was under renovation. A little disappointing to pull up and the front entrance was blocked off. Otherwise food, drink, pool and beach were lovely. Thank you a wonderful stay.

My wife and I showed up around 2:30 pm and it took around 2 hours to get checked in to our hotel due to the Eid holiday season. Went to the bar and spent around 250 dirhams while waiting for the room to be cleaned. Finally we arived in our room and requested some ice because we were so hot, and we were charged 20 dirhams for it and were very upset that after waiting 2 hours and spending money at the bar waiting that we were charged for ice. Overall the hotel layout is extreamly nice and the room was great. We also had some bad service at the swim up bar with employees that had no basic knowledge of customer service; giving us attitude that we asked for food order. Our experience was very nice minus the charge for ice the long wait for our room and bad poool side customer service.

Beautiful resort......Puzzled

The Resort is beautiful! Restful and relaxing. We had dinner at \"Waves\", delicious. Our server, was excellent,he was the only one serving us outside that night. The chef came out and spoke with us. One of the best steaks I've had in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Wonderful dinner!

We were puzzled at the unfriendliness of guests, some rude. And some staff, but given the attitude of other guests we figured that maybe they were being treated bad by guests and that was why.

No one seemed happy......just an observation....living in Abu Dhabi (Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi & Etihad Towers) for the last 16 months, we've never experienced this before. All are glad and grateful to be here, have jobs, and are eager to serve.
We still had a great time, resting, relaxing.
We also liked that we didn't need to leave the resort. The beach and the waves that day were breathtaking!

Fairly decent hotel on a nice beach but definitely not a 5* experience at all. Middle ranking 4* now catering to eastern European 'all inclusive' market. Minimal eating options and obscenely priced fish restaurant that does not have the a la carte menu that is advertised. Very slow internet! Much better hotels around offering much better value- a shame as I stayed here 5 years ago and it was wonderful - and the Rotana brand is usually much better than this

- poor breakfast, and foof variety in menus of other restaurants within the hotel
- the hotel service is designed for Russian groups, so I don’t recommend it as a weekend escape for families living in Dubai.

The first impression of the hotel is that there is no modern finishing... The main entrance door is a dirty white plastic door.... which I haven't seen to be used for a long time in hotels...
As I understood and unfortunately didn't know before, hotel focuses on Russian guests.
There were 90% Russians at the hotel, so you feel yourself as in any Turkey resort.. It looses some kind of \"specialty\" being in UAE.
But for those who Russian people don't mind be abroad and still feel that you are in Russia, they will like it. There are many Russian-speaking stuff.

Amazing experience!

Though we didn't get a chance to enjoy swimming pool and beach due to rain, the overall experience was amazing as we enjoyed the nice weather from our room balcony. Everything starting from car park to room was perfect, we enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely stay there again.

Bathroom is Bad and no elevator available

water preasure at the bathroom suddenly comes very weak after 5 min usage. I had called them to fix it and it takes 3 visits to fix it finally at the day of check out!! In addition, our room was in the first floor and there is no elevator serves from the ground floor to the first floor which is not confortable for families have kids and baby trolly.

Needs a ha'pence worth to be excellent

Two aspects detracted from the overall excellent standard. The quality of the food was mundane, especially in the main dining room, which seemed to cater for a mainly east European clientele. The other disappointment was the lack of information about the local are and places of interest.

Nice hotel for families and relaxation.

We were upgraded to room 1101. Spacious room along with living but no balcony. But view from windows are OK.
Overall searvice was good and up to speed.
Pool and beach are nice to relax in.
Kids can enjoy the water slide and outdoor playing area.

This was a brief two day getaway from the city, was very pleasant and staff service was extremely friendly, wasn't looking for high end resort, just a pleasant weekend away which I got, however issue with beach where oil had spilled from a passing ship, that left tar in the sand, not the resorts fault and they tried to assist, but nice pool available as an alternative

Living in Dubai, this is like a different world!!

A short break on the other coast from Dubai - very natural sitting below the mountains this is a great place to go for a break. Very relaxing and not overcrowded. Pool or beach this delivered exactly what was needed.

Found urine on the bed sheets.
Was supposed to be pool view room it was not.
The food was terrible and the service third rate.

One night break to get away from the business of Dubai. Enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Note that most of the guests were there on a package and there is a large Russian clientele here. Activities were organized and plentiful. Stay away from the all inclusive package as it includes the lower quality buffet, and instead eat a-la-carte which is of course a bit pricier but much much nicer. Hotel is in decent condition but could use some updating as it feels a bit dated. The hotel is about 45min drive from Fujairah city so don't say here if you need something close to Fujairah. Very nice pools and beach option. Cleanliness also very good.

Stayed for relaxing break away from biz of Dubai .Hotel was very clean and staff very attentive .pool busy with families and was very nice . We prefer the beach and were not disappointed lovely beach and beach bar which was open late into to evening and played good chill out music and great mojitos. Will be back.

A typical package holiday hotel with families from Eastern Europe. Nice beach but everything else mediocre - service at pool bar slow despite 5 staff! Old beds and dirty bed linen left in stairwells. Go to the Mediterranean or Mexico for double the quality at half the price.

We arrived at the hotel 15mins. before 2PM and have asked front desk if we can check in, they said no because standard check in time is 3:00PM. So we waited, around 2:45 PM, I asked again front desk if we can check in and the gentleman said \"certainly, you can check in at 12 noon since the hotel is not fully booked\". But then it was almost 3:00, we cannot turn back time, anyhow, my point is, without complaining to them about it, this guy just upgraded our room and gave us a late check out which I was not asking for. Certainly, they know how to please the customer and customer service is very good. the down side though is the food, the buffet dinner and buffet breakfast were not good at all, I think they have to improve their menu a lot. But over all, it was a very pleasant stay at FRRS and definitely will come back.

Pleasant but unexceptional - par for al aqah

Despite it stating 5*, it's really a pretty average 4*. Nothing wrong with the hotel, does everything moderately well and certainly no worse than it's competition (Meridien and Raddison) but equally they are all pleasant but unexcititing hotels. Worth a weekend trip from Dubai, but not worth coming from any further afield. Only one a la carte restauruant, at which the food is pretty decent and out door decor is ok, but inside decor desperately needs a refurb, looks like a canteen - mind you entire hotel is starting to look a touch dated (but clean and presentable).

Beach is nice enough, so is pool. Just mind your head on the beach parasols, which is about 5\" high and solid wooden frame - both myself and my wife managed to bash our heads on it, in my case I had a lump for days after. If I was to make one recomendation for the hotel, it would be to raise them another foot off the ground. Wouldn't cost much and would save the guests alot of actual phyiscal pain.

Overall worth a stay, just bare in mind that none of the hotels in al aqah are idealic getaways.

An experience!

The hotel is nice but out in the middle of nowhere with building sites practically on each side. We had a lovely room with a balcony but the smell in the mornings that wafted into our room was not a fresh sea breeze, there were obviously sewage problems. Tennis courts, Gym & Spa were all lovely and we had excellent full body massages. However the staff at the beach & pool bar/ restaurants were incredibly slow. We had to go get our own drinks and carry them back to our seats each day. The food was average. Nearest town 1hour away. Had to leave a day earlier as otherwise we would have been up at 3am to make our connections in Dubai at 6am & flight at 9am from AbuDhabi. Too far to go again but maybe in 3/5years when all the new hotels are finished building it might be worth a 2nd trip.

The rooms and facilities are not up to the standards of 5 stars hotels.

A much needed break

We booked a 2 night stay over the Christmas weekend,it was crowded but still very well maintained.The dinner buffet n brkfast was excellent.however the ambience of the buffet restaurant should improve.The pool is good too but not temp controlled.We had fun overall but had to vacate a day bfore itself as we had smthng imp to attend to but were charged full and were given no compensation which was very disappointing.

3-Night stay with the family in early October. Great surroundings and lovely ocean. Small slide in the kids pool that the kids enjoyed. We brought our own tennis gear and then the tennis courts was free of charge.

Negative. Missed a pool area for swimming only. The main buffe restaurant was a little noisy and the food here was average. I do recommend the Waves restaurant at the beach.

Great get-away destination on the Arabian Sea.

We were looking for a nice place for a couple of nights and some friends recommended the Fujairah Rotana Al Aqah. We live in Abu Dhabi so this place was just a short trip from home for us.

The whole experience was excellent. The hotel is clean, the staff are great, the scenery is amazing and the water was crystal clear. We ate at the Sharkey's restaurant and bar right beside the beach. The food was delicious and the portions were generous.

Overall we were very impressed and will definitely return.

Nice get away

Aqah in general is a nice get away from the busy city of Dubai. The only drawback to this area is that the acitvites are limited to beach and pool activities during the day and at night there is not much to do around the place. we usually stay in the hotel and do some in room activities. I would recommend a big group for this area to be able to make it through the night. The pool is a very pleasant activity during the day and you can also combine it with some beach activities (banana boat, donut, parasaling..etc). I go diving as well usually when i go to that area. The best diving spots in UAE are around this area.
