The entire experience was lovely. Beautiful rooms with wonderful decor. Such a comfortable bed. Nespresso coffee maker in the room with complimentary bottled water. Location amazing. Pub and tea room with gas fireplace so cozy. Just magical.

The only drawback was a series of stairs that, despite lifts, we had to lug heavy suitcases up and down.

Would definitely return and highly recommend to others.

Robes and slippers were not initially provided, I had to ask for them, despite them being listed as a room facility. Coffee also wasn’t replaced in the room once used on our second day.
We also had to pay £20 per person to use the hot tub for a 1 hour period. Whilst I understand some hotels do charge hotel guests an additional fee to use their spa, this is usually due to their high spec having a vast range of quality facilities. I did not feel this was the case at the Randolph; the spa was very limited only having a very small hot tub that only accommodated 2 people comfortably, there was no pool area; it was also not possible to get drinks here. I did not feel it was good value.
Hotel parking was also extremely expensive at £49 per night.
Hotel bar staff did also play on customer vulnerability following alcohol, issuing a £45 per shot whisky, without establishing this first.
In the hotels defence they were accommodating and helpful in many other areas including sorting some of these issues, and did provide
an umbrella when it was raining which was greatly appreciated.

We had to find staff to get service in the lounge area by the bar. Again at breakfast, had to get up to find staff to arrange drinks. Lift was broken. Long wait to check out and only found out later we were charged twice for breakfast. Took three phone calls to get that corrected. Room was great, but overall experience was disappointing.

Reception and concierge staff all very kind, helpful and efficient. Receptionists Kunal and Manesh were particularly helpful and deserve commendation.
However, the booking system by Hotels.come was terrible. After booking online for a twin with bath, I wanted to phone the hotel to confirm but there was no phone number for this hotel. It took me over more than 30 minutes and five phone calls to contact the reservations number for this Graduate hotel group. Someone did finally answer but his English was incomprehensible.
On arrival, I was given a room with no bath! So I had to rearrange a new room and pay extra. My alarm wake up phone call never materialised.
In the breakfast restaurant I was not allowed to choose my own table but was given a specific table but when I got there I found it had been reserved by someone else so I was told to move! The buffet breakfast looked good, but all the hot dishes were almost stone cold. The food is a long walk from your table so the food's even colder when you get there. Too many problems with the breakfast to write it here. I told the duty manager about this and he was very apologetic and offered to remove the breakfast charge but at reception I was told it was impossible.. Also, they charged me two nights extra for the bath instead of one. As compensation, they did cancel the parking fee which I was shocked to learn was £48 per night! The best hotel in Oxford? I don't think so.

Whilst we don’t get to visit as often as we’d like, we’d never stay anywhere else in Oxford. Always spotlessly clean, comfy beds and cosy rooms, can’t fault the staff whether it be reception, concierge or bar staff, this is just a really lovely hotel with good old fashioned values and customer service.

We stayed at The Randolph for three nights in September 2005. We had breakfast there three times and dinner once. The dinner was excellent and the service was superb and a tribute to the superb staff my wife and I cannot praise the food and service enough. The breakfasts were equally superb with a wide selection of breakfast food at the buffet. The room was excellent in every way and the position of the hotel for visiting the city centre and Colleges was spot on.

Our connecting rooms weren’t both ready - we arrived about 20 minutes before check-in - but we were checked into one room right away - thankfully. I didn’t hear back from reception about the second room being ready (we could hear when the cleaning staff had left), but after about half an hour I called down to ask, and the second room keys were brought up promptly. A used food tray from a neighbouring room sat on the floor near our rooms (with dirty dishes and food on it) for at least two days. The rooms are decorated whimsically and the bathroom was very clean.

There were several longer term maintenance issues. The dark patterned carpet had several bad stains that I didn’t notice at first. The wallpaper is peeling in several places. The towel warmer worked in one bathroom but not the other one. The electrical outlet cover by the desk was missing a screw and almost came out of the wall when I was pulling a plug.

Service was inconsistent. The coffee at breakfast was terribly weak but was promptly replaced when I asked for another one. The front desk was slow at check out, with one of two staff on the phone, and the lobby did not have a card-drop box. The concierge was great and went out of his way to help us find a taxi two blocks away (the street was closed for a fair), and also helped us push our large luggage to the taxi stand.
Overall the hotel is iconic, quirky, and fun but it needs some tightening up on the management side to earn a 5 star rating.

I tried 3 different emails & on hold for 15 minutes to try to book parking before arriving and did not get a response. I phoned again on the morning we were due to arrive & was finally able to book parking. It is valet parking as the hotel is in the city centre, £48 a night but we thought the best option.
The hotel itself was beautiful. Our room was well equipped with tea, coffee machine, air-con & fridge. I requested a room with bath which was honoured. The bed was a good size although it felt a little like a water bed if the other person moved! Pillows were big & comfortable. Lovely decor.
We had drinks in the Morse Bar & were served by a lovely gentleman in a suit whose name we didn’t get but he was great. There is limited seating in the bar but there is another bar in the restaurant with bar stools at the bar.
I had a massage in the spa which was much appreciated and well done.
We were greeted warmly by all staff that we encountered.
Apart from the email/parking issue we would recommend.

Service in the bar was disappointing since we only had two drinks and the bar staff managed to do something wrong on both. Although on arrival we were told we had been upgraded, the room was so hot we couldn't stay in it. The staff had brought in portable AC units as the room hadn't been used for 3 days (it had been 30+ degrees) - after 5 hours the AC units had made no difference at all. They did move us to another room later that evening without quibbling but with little acknowledgement of the fact that it would have been unbearable to stay there in the first place. There was no water provided in the rooms on a very warm evening. I managed to procure a bottle from the bar staff during a late-night fire alarm! In the bar the next day I ordered a cold meats platter with bread as we were on a schedule - it took over 25 minutes to arrive with the result that we had to bolt it in 10 minutes before our appointment. Other than that staff were polite if clearly under pressure. At over £450 a night the hotel is expensive for what it offers - rooms were sparsely kitted out: e.g. no vanity kit, no bottled water, no fridge/minibar. None of the little touches that make it feel like a \"luxury\" stay. I would return if rooms were more affordable (and if my room was air conditioned!).

The person I spoke to - Manish - never responded and no one picked up the phone after. So if you're staying at this hotel, watch your credit card for charges and hope you won't need any after-stay service.

This was my 3rd visit to the Randolph in the past year. Convenient location, friendly attentive staff, and clean. Very comfortable bed. Strong wifi. Small details- I love the towel warmer and toiletries. Negatives- this trip the hotel was full and the showers never got hot enough. The towels aren't as soft/plush as I like. The price has nearly doubled but it could've been that it was a weekend in May and Oxford was busy with graduations. If a view matters to you ask. This time my window looked at a wall.

Mixed Experience, Amazing Location!

Beautiful hotel, amazing location- right in the heart of Oxford! Across the street from the Ashmolean museum, a short walk to most points of interest. Very walk-able! Only problem was that they had very little hot water- weirdly so. Cold showers ruined the experience. The staff was kind and helpful, except in the restaurant, where a simple meal took two hours due to the server leaving and not telling anyone. Very odd. Likely a fluke that won't happen again, but beware. The main hotel staff (amazing!) did hold our luggage which saved a lot of trouble and expense- I would consider staying overnight, but not at length like we did due to the water temperature issue.

1. Price far too high for such a small room. Price per m2 was worse than Paris or Tokyo, Oxford is not at this level so this is not overcharging.

2. Room faced onto a queue at the museum so curtains had to be closed at all times.

3. Room did not have sound proofing so traffic noice was waking me up.

4. No hot water in shower for both days.

5. Sauna was additional charge and took more than 1 day to arrange - has to be visit to basement as front desk does not manage...

6. I left 3 sets of cufflinks in the room. I phoned 6 times and never had a callback. So they have no interest in whether their staff are stealing or not,
