Staff are very busy so expect wait in line to check in, ask a question, get in to breakfast. Also breakfast items were not restocked quickly enough. No bowls and no one to ask, no cups for juice(did get restocked), pastries slow in putting out more. Juice wasn’t cold. Great position, close to everything, staff doing their best but could do with more staff in our opinion, they all were very busy. Told valet car was out the back when it was out the front as well.

The shower is 3ft away from facet handle, shampoo and soap. You have to walk back and forth to adjust water temperature and get soap during shower. If you want to use bath tub, you need to bring your own shampoo and soap. The front desk staff is always busy and some of them are not knowledgeable about the hotel itself.

Staff were friendly, room reasonably clean, the drains in the bathroom smelt, paid for a room upgrade only to be overlooking the top of a roof top bellow, birds poo right in front of the window which obstructed the little view we did have. Definitely not the best hotel we have stayed in.

Checked into a room on day one that was different to the room I reserved and paid for via Expedia. The concierge stated they don't sell rooms like the one I was describing, then I showed the Expedia booking and they stated 'Oh we do have rooms like those, but we don't advertise them. Expedia was wrong.' Meant I stayed for the first night in a different room to what I reserved and paid for, then was moved to another room from night two onwards, which aligned to what I reserved. The hotel itself is very nice. Well designed. The rooms are small, but well put together. The views of the harbour are beautiful. There's a few issues with the room design which would be easy to rectify. The headboard is so long that it prevents the blockout curtains from reaching the wall. The result is that in the early hours of the morning, blinding sunlight will appear through the gap between the curtain and headboard, and lay right across the pillow, waking you up. There's a similar issue with the bathrooms which don't have blinds but used fogged glass. The glare in the morning was blinding. I needed sunglasses there just to brush my teeth and use the sink. The rooms are sold as soundproof, but that certainly wasn't the case. All night I heard the alarm sound from what I assumed was a driveway or garage door located on the street below. I also heard guests and staff in the halls at all hours, and heard the town hall clock chiming, which is directly opposite the hotel, every fifteen minutes from 5am

Staff were very friendly. We really appreciated the large room. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom and shower were very good. Good quality tea was supplied. The afternoon chocolate time was a big treat, they tasted very good. Hotel is near shopping district. It is conveniently located close to all the places we wanted to see.

We stayed 4 days at the Movenpick Hotel. Very central location in the CBD but not much going on in that area. For restaurants open later and a more vibrant bar scene, stay near Salamanca Market. Check in was easy and quick. Room was a bit small but tidy and well organized. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Washroom was gigantic, almost as big as room itself. Cleaners were a strange in that they only did bed but didn’t wash mugs nor change towels despite being on floor. Check out was drawn out, which was frustrating. Only 1 of 3 elevators were working, which was annoying. All in all, a bit pricy for what you get and if I were to return to Hobart would probably stay elsewhere.

Our stay was affected very negatively by two of the three elevators (lifts) being out of service- long wait times, crowded lifts-, but worked on by techs. The staff seemed harried and a bit out of their depth by the situation.
didn't try the breakfast so can't comment.

The room was very clean, we were upgraded to a harbour view with a nice outlook. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfasts and dinner at the hotel restaurant, Tesoro, was excellent. Location was fantastic, near the piers, Salamanca, city, and ferry and bus services.

Very convenient position for shopping, tours, landmarks. Clean and comfortable. Only issue temperature in room too hot, then they were able to cool it but fluctuated too much. Hot water also unable to cool at times while showering. One or two stafff on front desk lacked customer service. Chocolate hour exceptional quality, they keep topping up but does go quickly.

It seems this hotel is short staffed. Breakfast was a waiting game and often the buffet area was not manned, leading to problems with the coffee machine and items not being replenished. Manager did apologise, but not good for what we thought would be a first class hotel.

I certainly will not stay there again in future. Room is okay. Breakfast is decent. However, staff service is not what I expected from a four-star hotel. There is no drinking water in room. If I want drinking water other than tap water, I need to either prepare a bottle myself or buy a A$9 bottled water from the hotel.

However we had a couple of minor issues - couldn’t get through to room service to order food- twice - (no one answered the number, or the front desk), and we’d paid for late checkout, which was ‘lost’ in the system, so we returned to find ourselves locked out of our room. This was resolved thankfully, but overall left a feeling of a place that is a little disorganised.

The valet parking was a convenient and an easy option. The hotel location was fantastic being so close to the mall, shops and a chemist. We loved our meals that evening at the hotel restaurant. Our room was very solid and quiet, spacious and the bath towels were large and soft :)

Booked 5 nights in 2 Delux Rooms, all prepaid through Expedia. On arrival they could not find our booking and the hotel was quite full. They then told us the booking had been cancelled despite us having receipt. After 2 hours they put us into 2 very inferior rooms, one right next to the noisy lifts, and both bathrooms smelling like a sewer. We had booked both rooms with a bathtub and King bed. Got 2 double beds in each, shower only, no bath or bathrobes. No bowls in the breakfast bar 3 mornings and the coffee machine kept on running out of milk. No tomatoes at breakfast for 2 days running. Had large unauthorised amounts charged to my Amex every night, still waiting to get some of it back. They should rename this hotel Faulty Towers.

When checking in with a vehicle you only have 5 minutes to get in and hand your keys over due to parking issues. Staff will drive your car to a secure parking location for a minimal cost (valet). Room was clean, staff great. Room service was had as this was an option, otherwise book in to the Gnd Floor restaurant or find external options (plenty around). Great views, close to Salamanca markets and the wharfs/water.

Whilst the hotel is nice, clean and has its aesthetics it lacks in room size big time, so small, somewhat weird layout that just display lack of thought as you expect in room design to be done well. Lack of carpark means you over to vale and the wait that goes with it. Not a hotel I would return to, maybe more suited to a single traveler not a couple

We recently spent a week at Hotel Mövenpick Hobart. While the hotel’s central location and overall presentation were positives, there were a few aspects of our stay that fell short of expectations for a property in this category.

Unfortunately, the room cleaning was inconsistent and not always completed to a high standard. We also found it very difficult to get in touch with reception, housekeeping, or the restaurant over the phone — calls went unanswered throughout our entire stay, which made simple requests unnecessarily inconvenient.

Our room also had a persistent drain odour, and soundproofing could be improved, as we could clearly hear water usage and plumbing noise from neighbouring rooms.

Overall, our stay was comfortable enough, but with better attention to housekeeping, maintenance, and guest communication, the hotel could offer a much more seamless and enjoyable experience.

The property was great. Nice, clean, great location to use as a base if on foot - very close to Salamanca, the harbour and the shops. The small gym was great and our room was a good size.

We upgraded to a superior city view room which was on the 4th floor so the view was a bit limited, I can’t imagine what some of the rooms without a window would be like. There’s also no pool and chocolate hour isn't quite as elaborate as the Melbourne version, but my son loved every moment of it. Lots of people there to enjoy this special offering! A great stay and the staff were faultless.
