Lovely hotel, beautiful sea view room and amazing staff. The beach restaurant was very good with delicious seafood.
Only downside is the lack of a bar or beach service for hotel guests. The main bar is more catered for non hotel guests with is extremely busy at times and although staff are amazing the are very overstretched.

The location of the hotel is excellent as are the staff.

The hotel itself though is quite tired and due an upgrade. The pool area is run down and the sunbeds (if you manage to get one) are broken. There is no pool bar, so the area doesn’t work as despite this you are unable to bring drinks in from outside.

This wouldn’t be an issue if there price were not so high, there are much better options locally for this price point

Good location, breakfast was fresh with wide variety of items. A nice patio where you can sit and relax with a drink, snack or meal. We were not hurried from our table, so nice place to relax. Only real downside is that it took a long time for housekeeping to get to our room each day to refresh. Made it difficult to relax in your room during the day.

Great location, very central within Nerja, sea view rooms lovely - spotlessly clean. Great to have a lift down to the beach, otherwise it’s a bit of a climb. Breakfast ok, clearly catering for the large British/Irish clientele, although I would personally prefer more Spanish food and particularly fresh orange juice! Although the hotel was relatively recently renovated, it is showing its age in places; standard rooms are little small, bathrooms cramped and difficult to get in and out of the bath for a shower. There are sun beds on three levels, although I suspect in peak periods they would be taken very quickly. Be aware that there is no vehicular access to the hotel, the nearest parking is 250m away.

We have stayed at the Hotel Balcon many times and it never disappoints. Although a little dated to look at, it is always spotlessly clean, staff are excellent and the position of the hotel is perfect. We are already looking to book for next year.

Best hotel we've ever stayed in and we've been to Nerja ten times. Room cleaned everyday, hotel was spotless, lovely staff that go out of their way to greet staff eveytime you enter the hotel. They even arranged taxi to airport. Driver met us at reception, took our cases and escorted us to carpark for €80. After staying at Hotel Balcon wouldnt stay anywhere else!

The breakfast was great, the pool and sauna were situated with an excellent view. They had beach towels and a beach bag on the bed as a gift which was very nice. The only complaint was parking- very far and in an underground parking garage you have to pay a lot for and the bed is rock hard.

Location of hotel on beach was good but the hotel entrance to access the beach was not open until 10am each day - far too late. Marketed as a private beach but it is not - non hotel guests able to gain access well before 10am. Change of beach towels only allowed between 10am -noon. It had the feel of a hotel run by rules to benefit the hotel and not the guests. Beach bar was lovely and food good. I booked a junior suite which was disappointingly dark and dated - certainly not a suite by my understanding. Overall, disappointing; certainly not worth the money and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Lovely stay, but our room wasn’t the best it was an awkward shape room, it had no balcony and a large step up to the dressing table & wardrobe that you’d kill yourself on if you missed it. It was just as well we didn’t spend much time in the room cause it wouldn’t have been a room to sit in and relax, it was also very dark as it had a glass block window and a very small window along the corridor part of the room so no natural light actually got to the bed.

Everything great except we had the same crappy beach towels all week because you can only change them in the morning and we are not morning people. Also no conditioner in the shower for your hair? After reading the reviews we opted for a state room and didn’t regret it. The views from the balcony and bed were beautiful. We always found sun beds and there were 3 areas to sun bath. The pool is more of a plunge pool so we went in the sea. Breakfast had enough options to suit English tastes and picky vegans. It was quiet in the room which was a oasis away from the lively resort.

Hotel staff made up two twin beds as one larger bed, which worked well. The overall atmosphere was impressive and relaxing. Everyone was so friendly. We would certainly stay again. Stay in charming grandeur in an amazing position

We really enjoyed our stay in this charming hotel, which felt like we were stepping back to the 60’s - in a good way!

It was our first time in Nerja and I don’t think there could have been a better position. We opted for a full sea view with a balcony and were on the 9th floor, and it did not disappoint. The view of both the sea and the Balcon spectacular ❤️.

The room isn’t the biggest but had everything we needed for a week’s stay. Big wardrobe space, huge comfortable bed, chair and dressing table. Big tv with UK channels 1-5 (this really isn’t a requirement for us but was a great bonus, particularly as the weather wasn’t good and we spent more time in our room than anticipated!). There was also a safe and a fridge which is always handy. The bathroom was fine, a little tired too, but everything was absolutely spotless.

Good selection at breakfast and again, that view, wow!

We managed to have one day of sun and opted for their private beach area. The hotel provides beach towels which is, again, handy. Very comfortable sunbed and nice to have the bar so close.

All the staff we came into contact with were very pleasant and helpful. Special mention to the man who checked us out very early, he was just lovely.

If you want super modern and contemporary, this isn’t the place for you, but if you like a bit of history in a well cared for hotel in an amazing position, then I can highly recommend the Balcón de Europa.

It is a lovely hotel well positioned in a great town, we really enjoyed our stay. Only one little issue, only allowed one coffee sash per person per day and a small milk in your room, if you want more milk one euro for a little jug. So penny pinching. Otherwise fantastic.

The hotel is right by the beach and in the most popular street of Nerja.
The service is outstanding, I rarely felt so welcome in a hotel.
At breakfast, we had a lady pass by to make sure that everything was ok with the room, told her that the shampoo dispenser wasn’t working and it got immediately fixed.
We had a Junior suite with a balcony with a magnificent view.
At the beach, they have chairs and umbrellas you can use. The water the first days was perfect, but our last two days we had a red flag because of the waves.
The swimming pool is beautiful and the water was warmer than the beach, although finding chairs available was harder.

We loved this hotel, yes the rooms may look a little old fashioned but I think it’s just the colours they have chosen.
We were in a room without a balcony as all the sea view rooms had been sold & we still loved it & had a fantastic stay.
You cannot beat the location, the staff are all so nice, you get the sun all day, there’s a beach which is pretty much only used by hotel guests. We stayed B&B and breakfast and the restaurant were both incredible, the views were amazing. We are already looking to go back.

The location was stunning. Located right on the Mediterranean the scenery at breakdast was beautiful. You could swim in the sea and in the pool. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed.

Hotel is in agrega location, close to multiple beaches and all the best dining options. The hotel has access direct access to the beach and a small swimming pool. The hotel itself is a little dated, the beds are ok and the bathroom is a little small but overall a comfortable stay. I don't think there is a nicer option in Nerja (not from what we could see).

Would give excellent but........

Lovely hotel although some bedrooms needed updating. Common areas were very nice and very clean. Food and servce was excellent with prices in hotel very competitive with local area. Great location. My friends and I found it noisy and I mean when in bedrooms tryig to sleep (or not) you could hear furniture being moved, people talking on their phones and the actual conversation. TVs. Early morning deliveries (6am)...we had a very good price but if paying the full price....

Wonderful hotel

We absolutely loved it. The position of the hotel is really stunning, we had a junior suit was specious and very comfortable with a super king bed and private balcony with a sea view . Breakfast was good and staff brilliant. Pool area is a bit small so you need to grab your sun bed when is available.

The A/C was a bit weak, but they’ve provided us with a fun which was perfect.

The only frustration thing was that due to COVID restrictions the lift could only be used by a person (or family) and you have to wait for long times, so we used mostly the stairs. Luckily we are both fit.

All in all a super hotel and I’d definitely recommend it.

Fantastic location.

Lovely hotel adjacent to the famous Balcón Europa and right in the heart of the main tourist area in Neeja. Fantastic sea views from the majority of the rooms although I noticed some rooms were of the main entrance way to the hotel and would have been noisy. Very nice breakfast buffet with a good selection of hot and cold items along with fantastic views from the restaurant.

My only negative is that the 2 nearest car parks are both very expensive at €18 per 24h and although there is free street parking it’s further away and difficult to find.

Average Hotel with a great view.

I obviously read the reviews prior to my stay but I cannot understand how this hotel got this rating? A 9.2? That is a near perfect rating. Based on this rating I went ahead and booked the hotel. No way close. To begin with the parking is a public parking and then you pack all your luggage from the parking through the crazy busy streets (pedestrian zone) just outside the hotel. The first night was awful. We had neighbors that either sacrificed humans or just did not get along. All this around 1am. This happened 2 nights in a row. We stayed a total of 4 nights. The 2nd night not only did we have the neighbors making loads of noise but the plumbing starting making noise like it was going to explode. This happened on the 3rd night again. The shower door required pounding to get it closed. Like many hotels at the moment (probably due to Covid) this one is understaffed but I must say they made their best effort to please. Overall i would rate this hotel around a 7.8 - 8.0 max. The view from the room was amazing (Junior Suite) as well as from the breakfast room if you got there early enough to get a table by the window.

ROOM 103.... BOOK IT!

I cannot rave enough about my stay here. ROOM 103! Book it you won’t regret it. This room is right on the beach and I slept with the door open and the fresh breeze coming in at night kept the room cool but even better, I fell asleep listening to the waves crash along the shore. It was magical. The staff at the check in was wonderful and kind and let me practice my Spanish with them! They really set the tone for my stay there and that’s super important. A good staff at check in should emulate the soul and ethos of the hotel and they exceeded!! The food at the restaurant was so delicious!! This hotel left me wanting for NOTHING! Excellent!
