The grounds are stunning. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. What really stood out was the service which was really excellent. From the moment we arrived to when we left, we felt taken care of. We ate at most of the restaurants and the food was very good at each one. The entertainment was fun and there were lots of activities. The spa was wonderful! I highly recommend this destination and a shoutout to Omar and Angel for truly making us feel like family.

The staff were great. Very supportive and available for any questions. Their “concierges” were pushing the breakfast/time share thing pretty strongly and we were not interested but several kept trying. The rooms were clean and well serviced. We had adjoining rooms; 1 room had an ill flushing toilet and the other had a shower head with terribly low pressure when set to warm/hot. The food was adequate with lots of variety. We enjoyed the Mexican and Brazilian restaurants but the other speciality restaurants were not good. The buffet breakfast/lunch and dinner restaurants were good.

Properly and staff were great. Rooms are clean and quiet but the showers have low pressure and not very warm. Lots of walking to get from rooms to food options. Food was average and the drinks were the low spot for me. My booking was for all taxes and fees included but they still charged me some bogus environmental fee on check out… lame. Plus the front desk staff really wants to sell you some breakfast and sales pitch for their time share thing… lame. Beach has lots of seating options and the pools were very nice. The grounds are lush very well maintained. Overall a good place for a fair price but the drinks and food need some work. Many areas of the property are restricted depending on your booking status.

Our room on the beach was very comfortable. The resort grounds were exceptional, with jungle landscaping, complete with wild critters (swans, pheasants, iguanas, wild pigs, parrots, ...). The buffets were excellent. We only tried one of the booked restaurants (Smoke House) and the food was not impressive. My only significant complaint is that there were no written warnings in the room that the tap water was not drinkable, and that toilet paper was not to be put in the toilet but rather in a basket in the bathroom. Perhaps these features are known to seasoned Mexico travellers, but newcomers need to be warned of these issues, especially the water problem as it is a health concern.

For us, the food and the beach was what really stood out. The food is TOP NOTCH... skip the restaurants, the buffet has everything you need to be happy and it always has something for everyone in your family. The beach is large and gorgeous, with a great bar and even a beach grill (with good food) right there. We barely even saw the pool because we enjoyed the beach so much. The staff was incredible, always helpful and so kind. Our rooms were clean, big, and just what we needed. It is incredibly safe, our teens were able to navigate the resort on their own and we all felt completely comfortable. We love that this resort is family owned and focuses on sustainability. The efforts of this resort to be environmentally responsible are very visible at every turn and it makes the stay feel even more luxurious. No reason to see any other resorts, we have been to many, and this really is the BEST!

There were 7 of us traveling. 4/7 got sick. We always felt like we were fighting or searching to eat somewhere. We couldn't reserve at a restaurant in the resort any of the 7 nights we were there. This resort made us certain we wouldn't stay in an all inclusive again. We,ve stayed in all inclusive hotels that rated from 3-5 stars. I wouldn't give this more than 1 star and I would warn anyone going it's not great. Also odd fact: pools(all of them) were the coldest pools we've ever been in in Mexico. Lots of people commented about how cold the pools were during our stay.

We have traveled over the holidays twice to Iberostar Del Mar Cancun. We find it to be clean, food options are great. Accommodations for gluten free and vegan are becoming more available. The tropical environment of the resort is fantastic. But what makes this place so special, is the staff. They are friendly, helpful, and make you feel like family. Highly recommend. The on sight nightly shows and lobby activities make it fun.

The resort grounds were beautiful with lots of wildlife - this was the highlight. Staff service was a little slow but all extremely friendly and overall very good however we were disappointed that they placed our family of 11 across the resort in different buildings despite our multiple requests and advanced attempts to have us placed together. We were luckily placed near our aging parents so we were able to help them.

There are some things I wished we knew in advance though. 1) There is no hot tub. 2) While the resort common areas are modern, the rooms are a little old. Our bathroom reflected more of a 3-star hotel. 3) food was ok, and not as good as at other luxury all inclusive hotels. The buffet gets old quick and we found ourselves going to the beach or “the mall” for our lunches. The Japanese place is the best. 4) Two people in our family had a gluten allergy and there were always options for them. 5) one of the reasons we chose this hotel was because we were offered two resort credits at booking: $500 and $300. There was no information provided and we had assumed we could use that credit for anything - it is instead doled out as $25 coupons and to use one $25 coupon, you need to spend $100. It is a scam as everything at the hotel is extremely overpriced. 6) there is a constant undertone of the hotel trying to upsell from before you arrive with room and then even different hotel upgrades, to private dinners. And then there is the timeshare pitch; it felt gross…

The service refused to turned our credit into ibero cash so we can use it at gift shops or services. We lost our credit. Front desk refuted to notify us that our taxi was there to pick us up for airport transportation. We had to call a taxi and lost our already paid airport transportation.

Room were well cleaned, but the room lamps had spots on them. I paid the price compared to Selection / Lindo but got the lowest standard rooms -> wave and Lindo. The food was mediocre at the best. Keep in mind one cannot use Selection and Lindo amenities. Cancun is quite over rated in my opinion.

The staff was amazing. The facility itself has not been touched in 10 years and the lack of maintenance reflects very poorly on my experience. I stayed at the same spot 10 years ago and was excited to take my husband this year. Everything was falling apart, crumbling, torn, and ripped, just poorly maintained throughout the last 10 years. The staff was amazing though.

Staff were incredibly helpful and food at the Smokehouse and the Italian restaurant was amazing.

Staff did push the Club several times but we just politely said no.

The only improvement outside of the paint, would be to somehow control the beach trolls selling merchandise. At least 10 times a day we were approached to purchase goods.

Some of the staff was amazing, but most of them want to sell you on their timeshare the hotel offers (they don’t consider it a time share but it is). They are very pushy on it and feels like a scam. To get around the hotel you have to wait for a golf kart which will sometime take up to 15 minutes. Or you can just walk to your room which is not convenient at all. Was the biggest inconvenience. The food made me have the runs 4 days into the trip, the cups were always dirty.

The biggest issue we had were BED BUGS. We let the manager know on the second to last night and they didn’t have a room they could swap us to so they offered to fumigate the room which I felt super uncomfortable after since it’s chemicals. This place was the worst trip I’ve gone to vacation at Forsure.

We stayed for a week and while we loved the buffet breakfast variety and the pool activities every day, we felt as though we were constantly being hounded by sales staff to buy something on property either a time share, excursions, massages, or sunglasses- we could never fully relax without being asked to buy something either on the beach or at the pool. If you want a to hang out by the beach you have to claim your lounger at 6am as there are nowhere near enough for the amount of guests on the resort. It took three days for maintenance to fix our broken shower which only produced cold water, and halfway through the stay housekeeping staff just stopped restocking the mini bar. We loved how the variety of things there were to do on resort and the daily activity calendar within the app. The gym is incredible and the spa is beautiful and relaxing.

The staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and kind and truly love the work they do which helps the experience.

Some of the staff were very rude and the others were very kind so its hard to do ratings. My rating is based off of those rude staff and feel bad for the rest of them.
Food quality in the open buffets were just fine, in the other restaurants were just terrible and mundane.
Area is huge so you need transport shuttles. They're supposed to be there every 5 to 10 minutes which us very long already, and they take even longer to pick you up most of the time.
Don't pick this resort if you don't want your vacation to get ruined.

From the moment we arrived, our experience was exceptional. At check-in, Agni at the front desk was incredibly attentive, professional, and welcoming. He offered us an upgrade to a beachfront view, which we gladly accepted — and just as he described it, the room was “perfecto”! Spotlessly clean with a stunning view — it truly set the tone for the rest of our stay.

The beaches and pools were beautifully maintained, and the entire staff was attentive and friendly. There was always something going on with entertainment and activities available throughout the day, which kept things fun and engaging.

Now, let’s talk about the food — having stayed at several other all-inclusive resorts, we can confidently say this one stands out. The restaurants were top-notch, with great variety and high-quality meals every time. Service was prompt, professional, and always with a smile. They really go above and beyond here.

Pros: The breakfast buffet was beyond delicious! The rooms were clean and the staff was extremely helpful.

Cons: This property is older. Rooms where average. Room amenities are average at best. Flat screen TVs are not Smart TVs. No 24/7 room service. They share a compound but do not have access to all the pools.

This is a 3.5 star resort.
4 stars on a good day only because the staff will do their best to accommodate each guest.

The blue line transportation that was supposed to come around every 15 minutes was no where to be found and we had to walk most of the time, and were already sweating on the way going, eating, and returning from our dinner, and breakfast.

The dining options were outstanding — every meal felt like a new experience. The chef was incredibly accommodating, often walking around to check in with guests personally. He even offered to make anything we wanted, which made the dining experience feel truly personalized and special.

The rooms were very comfortable and the entire property was spotless. You can really tell the staff takes pride in maintaining a clean and relaxing environment. Speaking of the staff, the service was top-notch — warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile.

But the highlight of our trip was how much our five-year-old loved Star Camp! The staff there were so kind and engaging. It made such a difference knowing our child was not only well cared for but having the time of their life.

We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a memorable and relaxing stay!

This is an okay property. Ratings would have been different if Expedia mentioned the various categories of stay so as to align expectations.

Food was ok, my favourite was the Mexican buffet, like the hibachi Japanese restaurant as well. Least favourite star rock cafe and the steakhouse.

Property is safe, workers are friendly and willing to assist.

We had a fantastic vacation at this resort. The food was pretty good, with the exception of the Smoke House - that was fantastic! The bed was comfy, the pool was amazing. the beach was pretty rocky but that could have just been where we were sitting. We didn't wander down the beach to see if it got better. Highly recommend! There were so many wild animals living on the property it was a game of 'I Spy' every time we walked around the property.

Con: Staff is overworked, especially at pool bars and the Mexican Restaurant.
Pro: Family room was nice, great for my family and two teens.
Con: Beach is very small, believe the reviews!! They do a great job of managing seaweed but its very small, and reserving seats IS NO JOKE! I had to get up at 7 to get 4 seats.
Con: Pool is just as bad, reserve seating is SERIOUS here..I realize I visited in July but the water is warm, almost hot. Felt like a hot tub.
Con: If you expect a waiter or waitress to stop by your pool or beach chair and take your drinks, LOOK elsewhere. I have been to other resorts and its a common thing, YOU GET UP AND GO TO THE BAR for your drinks here..
Con: Mexican restaurant was the biggest disappointment. short staffed, waited over an hour to be seated and over 35 minutes to receive food.
Other: The buffets were average, nothing special here.
The resort is BIG, with them using a major paved \"sidewalk\" for golf carts to pick up and drop you off. Lots of walking.
Again, I am not a picky person and have visited many resorts, this Iberostar was a disappointment, and will not return.
Did I mention how overworked the staff is? The women and the bar and restaurants should be applauded.

Check-in took about 20 minutes but that is normal, no complaints there. My biggest complaint was the food and reservation situation. You need an app to reserve (which everyone has everything reserved in advanced) or go early morning and try which by the time you go, everything is reserved. I couldn't eat at any of the places I wanted to eat at, and the walk-in places had long waits. Aside from that, it was a very nice stay.

Our stay was ok and we weren’t very satisfied. There was no poolside service of food or drinks. Pool was not clean. There were so many Coati’s. We first thought it was cute seeing them around but then it became too much. They were running all around, in the garage cans, stealing food and drinks. The staff was average compared to other places we have stayed. We won’t ever return to this hotel.
We did spend a day at their other resort, Lindo and that was very nice. If we do return to the area, we will stay at Lindo.

Right when I checked in, I was met by Alejandro, the supervisor at the check-in desk. He informed me that since I booked through Expedia, I would have to pay an extra $560 for a child, since the child rate on Expedia and their website is different. After numerous attempts to explain that through Expeida, a child is from 2-17 years of age and that either way, a child and an adult were the same price, he did not want to check us in. Even went as far as saying that this issue wasn't his problem and that if we don't like it, we don't have to stay in the hotel. Rather than trying to understand the situation and assist, he made us stay in the lobby for THREE hours, which doesn't have AC, and didn't even allow us to get lunch till I had to solve the situation with Expeida, which took another hour on the phone. Let alone, he and the rest of the staff were very hard to understand, and they didn't have a friendly way of interacting with the guests.

Mostly Great Experience, But Misleading Advertising

My family trip to Iberostar Paraíso del Mar was mostly positive thanks to the incredible local staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely kind. Their hospitality made a big difference in our stay.

However, I was disappointed by the misleading photos on Orbitz. The listing prominently featured images of a water park with slides, water toys, and a lazy river — which I thought would be perfect for my toddler. Unfortunately, we learned upon arrival that those amenities belong to a different, higher-tier Iberostar property and were not accessible to us. This felt deceiving and led to unmet expectations, especially since the visuals played a big role in our decision to book.

Additionally, I was surprised to find that one of the central bars at the resort was reserved exclusively for members. This bar was located in a very visible, central area of the all-inclusive property, making it feel exclusionary to regular guests.

Overall, while we enjoyed our stay, I urge Orbitz and the hotel to be more transparent with their listings so future guests can make fully informed choices.

The Good:
This resort is massive and definitely delivers when it comes to variety—plenty of pools, bars, restaurants, and activities to keep you entertained. We really enjoyed the wildlife throughout the property: flamingos, iguanas, and coatis were a delight to see up close. Most of the staff were friendly and professional, and our room was clean and comfortable, though the bed was a bit too firm for our taste.

Unfortunately, the experience starts on a sour note. As soon as you arrive, you’re pushed into booking a time share/vacation club presentation. Declining once isn’t enough—they ask again. Once you say no (for good), the tone from the concierge noticeably shifts. Speaking of concierges, you need them to make dinner reservations unless you want to constantly check your phone all day hoping something opens up. And yes, reservations are essential unless you’re fine eating at open-air buffets in the hot, humid jungle. That brings us to meals: breakfast is buffet-only and always outdoors with no AC. It’s steamy, sweaty, and frankly not appetizing when the food sits out for hours with flies coming and going. Lunch was best at the resort’s “Mall,” where you could grab freshly prepared tacos or burgers in air-conditioned spaces. For dinner, only the Japanese and Mediterranean restaurants had AC; the Smokehouse and Italian did not. We couldn’t get into the Brazilian steakhouse because, again, no reservation availability. $300 resort credit -misleading. Don’t plan on it

This was our fifth visit to an Iberostar resort in Riviera Maya. The resort grounds are always beautiful, the staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional, and we always feel like family when we come. The restaurants, buffets, and even the beach food is delicious and fresh with great variety. The Spa was incredible. We feel at home at Iberostar and will be visiting many more around the world because of our stays at Paraiso Maya and Paraiso Lindo.

Our stay at Iberostar was good but I would not book here again. Here are my reasons why: they don’t have any elevators for the hotel buildings, the food for the restaurants and buffet was alright nothing memorable and not enough shuttles or we would be denied a ride (due to wristband color, a full shuttle, or ignored) so expect to do a lot of walking if you are looking to explore the resort. Last thing, which was very inconvenient you had to make reservations for the restaurants that require reservations the DAY OF specifically in the morning if you want secure a spot. This does not make sense especially when you want to relax and enjoy your vacation.

Beautiful property with all kinds of natural wildlife. The staff is excellent. The beach is buried in seaweed right now, i don't think that's normal there, but it was unusable during my stay. The property is far from town, so if you like to go to Cancun, it would be difficult. No need to leave the resort. Absolutely everything you need is there. I loved it.

Everything was hot;

*the room’s electricity turned off automatically when you locked the door/left the room, which made the room hot upon return
*the ac in all the rooms have a max cold temp of 80*F (27*C)
*most dining options are outside in the heat
*the lobby is outside in the heat
*Golf carts are inconsistent, forcing you to walk everywhere in the heat

Food and resort quality was a mixed bag;

*a lot of the food tasted alike, with exception for the Japanese Hibachi and Mediterranean restaurant
*the drink quality was wildly inconsistent, with some bars being great while others where bad
*the vendors at the pop ups seemed irritated at any question or request
*the rooms and resort have some signs of aging, but nothing too dramatic

Very classist design;

*you are given a bracelet to wear during your entire stay, and are assigned a color based on what hotel and level you are at. If you are blue, you are treated like trash and barred from a lot of the amenities. If you do insist on going to this resort, do yourself a favor and pay more for the mid or high class level.

The good;
- some food was great
- some drinks where awesome
- the kids LOVED Star Camp
- lots of opportunities to walk and get your steps in— we averaged 20k+ a night, averaging around 9 miles!
- the pool parties with the bubble machine where awesome and so much fun!
- late night dining and dessert options

Overall review: if it’s cheap, go for it! If not, there are MUCH better options around.

The staff were so nice, the room was great, and the facilities were nice! The kelp on the beach was a bummer but other than that the beach was beautiful and perfect. We were bummed that there was no windsurfing as advertised and that there was basically no snorkeling (we could use the snorkels but were told there was nothing to see because there were no good snorkeling areas nearby).
