Nothing unique at all it needs refurbishment as it's very dated. Breakfast was excellent but that did not make up for the poor shower and quality of the room I would not classify it as a 4 star hotel only 3 stars

The hotel is actually 2 hotels. You have access to the pools in either one. 1 pool is a salt watet infinity pool. The other a fresh water pool. They are not heated (at least up until October, dont know after that). Our hotel had sea view and although this was the hotel a little farther from the water, you could still hear the waves close all night. It had a balcony with table, chairs and a clothes line.The beds and pillows were clean and really comfortable. Bathroom big and nice. The beach is across the street. Did not try their buffet but it didn’t look bad and considering that Nerja is a tourist city, the buffet price was not expensive compared to nearby restaurants. If you want a little cheaper, more regular prices, walk 10-20 minutes away from the hotel area. The restaurants right on the beach were actually not bad priced for the location. Customer service was perfect also. Wifi was fine. I would MOST definitely stay there again!

We really liked the closeness of the beach . Breakfast was pretty basic for a four star hotel. The staff always seemed busy keeping tables cleaned at breakfast. The laminate flooring was a bit cheap looking and some things needed updating . The cleaning staff and waiters and waitresses were always busy and done a good job .

The hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel. It probably was about 30 years ago but is now dated and tired. The bedrooms are small and the furniture and bedspreads old. A double room consists of 2 single beds pushed together individually made which is not ideal for a married couple!
The restaurant is in a different building over the road and again is very tired and dated. The breakfast was the same everyday with the beans and scrambled egg being lukewarm every day.
The swimming pool is not monitored so anybody can come in and use it and the locals often did late afternoon.
The bar will only give you plastic cups to sit around the pool area or take back to your room.
The only redeeming feature of the hotel is the location.

The hotel on the beach looks nice but we were in the one across the road. It was very dated, paint peeling off and plaster falling off. The furniture was really old and the fridge was filthy

This property is a perfect location in Nerja with a nice beach and pools. The breakfast and dinner half board worked quite well and the food was agreeable. The room was a bit worn on the flooring but were clean as were the bath. The ocean view room was perfect and so was the balcony.

Rather disappointing.

Rather an indifferent stay. Unfortunately, there was a lot of building noise all week from a house next to the hotel (which I think the hotel managed) starting at 8am in the morning until sundown at 7.30pm. This created a lot of dust, too, on the small balcony which was not cleaned away. Reception staff were not friendly - check-out was distinctly dismissive and cold. However, the waiters in the snack bar were friendly. The room was tired and paintwork was poorly maintained. Toilet had been replaced and was almost in the middle of the floor - very odd. Room was on the small side, too. No heating or air-conditioning available. Wifi kept cutting out, too. All in all, quite disappointing.

Hotel ratings very difficult to understand. Last hotel was 4* but far superior to this one. Location is quiet at the end of beach area. Walking distance to centre town and lots of cafe/bars/restaurants to choose from very close by or in the town centre. Lots of spanish families so a good authentic feel to the area. HOTEL CAR PARK is a nightmare to get into and out of. Its down a very steep narrow winding slope then narrow corridor to the parking spaces - not surprised most people dont use it. If you have a small car (cleo) you might be OK but would not attempt in a larger one. One way too so check no one is coming in before to drive out.

It was a lovely trip. I live on the coast but for a night away it was like being on holiday. I enjoyed the swimming pool on the roof as soon as we arrived followed by a relaxing day. The breakfast in the morning was excellent! Will definitely return to this hotel.

Quite old fashioned hotel, but has all amenities except WiFi. It does say it has wifi but it drops out all the time and isn’t secure.
Great location on the beach, clean pool and close to the old town for restaurants and shops.
Enjoyed our stay.

Disappointing, not what we anticipated. We should have known that this was a cheap tourist destination, but what confused us is that for 2 nights we paid $600+ . According to the hotel, Expedia advertisement missleaded us to buy rooms that we thought were \"waterfront\", but for all that money we ended up\"in the back of the bus\" in a room with no water view and smelly (like mothballs), the safe did not work and it was liftable so anyone could have carried it out with my money and passports. Also, there are not enough parking (40 spaces for 190+rooms) The staff was cordious and did their best.

Confirm your extras in advance

Certain requests not met ie sea view 3 rooms together and sun on the balcony in the afternoon. When we checked in we were asked for more money for these facilities although we had been in contact with the hotel re kettles in the room and they didnt mention these requests were extra.

Reception didnt tell us there was an underpass to reach the hotel they sent us to following the toilet not being attached in the main hotel.

We were a little worried about this hotel due to other negative reviews. However we had no complaints during our 3 night stay. We paid extra to be upgraded to a sea view room when we arrived and this was well worth it. We were on the 4th floor of the new building and the view from the balcony was fantastic. We didn't pay for breakfast, but there is a small fridge in the room and so it was perfect to sit and have s fresh orange and croissant out there in the morning. The only two things which could have improved our stay would be in room coffee / tea making facilities, plus information from the receptionist on check in about the in room safe. There is a refundable deposit required for the key for this and so it meant going back down to reception again to organise this. There was then a fault with it and so we needed to go back down again to get this looked at. The response was quick and efficient however and an engineer came and sorted immediately. Overall a great stay, the hotel is also in a perfect location for walking to Balcon de Europe and lots of shops and bars.

A little out of the hub of the Plaza but entirely within walking distance. Great breakfast, room spacious and very clean. We enjoyed time on the beach as well as the lovely patio cafe for drinks. Staff very friendly and spoke good English.

We were located in building opposite main building. Room not in any fit to be classed as 4star ,Furniture and decor of basic Hostel standards. Badly stained carpets in general areas and very apparent not vacuumed. Breakfast food choice very basic and not up to 4star as expected.Hotel receptionists (2 male receptionists in particular) not friendly or helpful. This Hotel should never be priced as 4star .

Average level for some vacation

Enteriing the room, there was a strong odor of mothballs (naphtaline). We had to open the balcony door and keep it open at night time. The waiters at the restaurant were rude and negligent, too many people to take care of and very reduced staff. Still the persponality of the employees could be more pleasant and affable. The geographic location of the hotel saved the ticket.

Neglected and unloved Hotel

We were surprised by the condition of the hotel, this can not be a 4-star hotel at all.

There was no room when we arrived, then we were offered a room on the ground floor overlooking the car park. When we threatened to cancel the booking & leave, we almost immediately were offered a room at the back of the hotel by the \"later became helpful\" Morrocan Carolina!!

On the following day, we had to pay an extra 20 euros for a room with sea view.

We have our own property on La Torre Golf complex and this break was just to explore another area of this coast line.The staff at the Hotel were very friendly and helpful from reception to bars.The Hotel is old and showing its age from the wobbly TV brackets in the room losing reception or volume or the tired refrigerator.Wifi could do with updating as we had to constantly re connect.These little things did nothing to deter our stay as it was a complete and pleasant visit and would still book the same hotel again and will.

This is a beautiful oceanfront property with a lovely beach and pool. Very nice restaurant that overlooks the beach but does not do dinners, or later dinners. They have a large separate breakfast buffet and cooks that certainly fills you up for the day, it is a bit of a cattle call but food excellent. We had booked for 2 nights but decided to stay 4 nights because it was so beautiful. Walking distance to many wonderful restaurants and town of Nerja.

Nostalgic return to Nerja

We returned to Nerja after 8 years, to see if it was just as nice. It is, and in many ways has improved. Beaches, promenades, streets and facilities around the town have progressed. With this comes popularity, but the local people in bars and restaurants still remain, as a whole, almost as friendly. The Perla Marina, appeared on the other side of this, one of the bigger hotels, nice to look at, outside and in, but basically without character or personality. When we walked in with our luggage was the one and only time someone on reception initiated conversation. Most hardly looked up from the desk. As we were tired on arrival, we decided to have dinner in the hotel, and were asked for pre-payment in cash for a buffet. The food was edible, but not good. We only had breakfast after that, and it was restrictive and boring. It was like dining in the school canteen. Room 249 was supposedly a 'standard' room, but it was 25% smaller than the vast majority of the standard. It was an 'excuse me' room- that's what you say if you want to walk around. The terrace bar was poorly manned and only once did we get served at table, we ordered and paid at the bar. Of the hotel staff, only two spoke without prompting. In the lobby were flyers for trips, eg. Gibraltar, but nothing about Nerja. The hotel was more akin to a northern Europe business hotel, without being business-like. Not friendly, not efficient, and certainly not FOUR STAR. We used this hotel as a bed & enjoyed old Nerja.

The only disappointing thing was the evening meals

We liked the hotel, the staff, behind the desk were very helpful and friendly, and so were the Cafeteria staff where we lunched every day. The location is a little bit too far from the centre of town, but we prefer that, we had a nice room with balcony overlooking the sea. We only had one evening meal which we found very disappointing, we didn't think it was up to a four star hotel standard, we also didn't like the long tables seating arrangement. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would certainly stay there again.

We booked this hotel for 4 nights through hotels.com. Usually you have the option to book specific room types, but not with this one. When we arrived we were quite impressed, but then the man at check-in informed me \"You are not in this building, you are over the road\" Over the road was not so nice but we thought as it's only 4 nights it will do.

When we arrived at the room we found ourselves with a city view and no balcony. I called the front desk and requested to be moved, I would have hapilly paid another 100 Euro per night for a good room with a sea view and balcony but we were told \"there is nothing else\" Very dissapointing.

The quality and selection of food at breakfast was very poor which should have prevented us from eating at the beachside cafe, but we did eat there once. Again, dissapointing.

Perfect; right on the beach with helpful staff!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel previously hence our return as the hotel staff are so accommodating. The second time round we noticed many improvements, so was even better and pre-arranged to stay in the same sea view room we had during our first stay! I would defo advise to upgrade to sea view as was so beautiful and the sound of the waves are so relaxing.

The staff at the Perla are fantastic and very well spoken. They offer much needed tourist info in order to see as much as you can during your stay. Wifi connection is available throughout the hotel although we did struggle to get connected in our room so had to do anything like that in the reception area, which wasn't a prob as didn't go away to surf the net! lol

No need to pack towels as room gets changed daily, and if you want towels for by the pool you can pay 10 Euros to reception which is full refundable when the towel is returned.

Thought we were getting a sea view and found we were in a different building with no view at all! Also the hotel was at the end of town and not close to the center at all. The beach was rocky and there were nicer beaches closer to the center of town. Would never stay here again.

Hotel is clean and pleasant, staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast is buffet in a single large room with tables arranged across the room in single long lines like a Naffi barracks canteen, so after first day went out for breakfast. The bar food was poor, so again would not recommend eating in. The hotel pool is typical small hotel pool, but many of the sun loungers were broken so unable to raise the back so you could read, i.e. you could only lay flat. The hotel was a good base for exploring the area and for the beach.

The hotel sits right on the beach and our room had a fantastic sea view - lovely to listen to the waves lapping. However it is a 15 minute walk to the centre of town. The room itself was adequate and clean, but a bit shabby. The breakfast was not worth the extra money and indeed the organisation of the buffet made the selection less appealing.

Hotel is in really good location in a quiet area very close to the beach. We asked for a twin room but were given a double which was annoying as the trip was myself and my daughter. The room was clean, with a nice view of a neighbouring garden and pool, shower was good and the bed was comfy. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was was a really good selection with plenty of choice.

Wonderful position and close to shops/restaurants

Go to sleep listening to the waves your that close. Reception staff very helpful.
Breakfast super and food in the cafeteria very good and reasonably priced.
Plenty of sun beds, some were rather tired.
We had a late flight and we were able to keep our room for a few extra hours, then we were offered showers and changing facilities.
Pricewise we had a great deal.
Would have liked a tea making facilities in the room as one morning we had a very early start.
All in all the hotel represented great value and would definitely stay there again.

Just back from a one week stay at the perla marina. Having been there 4 years earlier we knew what to expect. The hotel is situated by the sea front in a quieter area of Nerja although only 10mins walk from the main balcon area
I would recommend this hotel as it was clean and staff were friendly and very accommodating. We didn't choose the breakfast as it was €7 per head for a basic breakfast whereas you can get a better breakfast from a nearby restaurant Jamaica for €4! Other than this I would recommend the hotel.

Lovely hotel with terrific sea views!

My wife and I have just had a week at the Perla Marina. We could not fault it. We had a sea-view room on the second floor of the main hotel (there is a separate building across the road which looked just as nice) and it was simply wonderful. We did room only, simply because we knew there were literally scores of excellent eateries in Nerja and we like to get out and about. A lovely hotel, well situated for a nice stroll into town whilst being a quiet area in which to get a good night's sleep. We did not want to come home.

Some disappointments but still a good stay

Early in the season, was disappointed the room was not in the main (seafront) hotel but still had a nice sea view. Many sunbeds and brollies at the pool did not function properly but their were signs of new replacements (presumably for the main season). Air conditioning not functioning properly (reported but not fixed). Overall good hotel 15 mins from main centre but only 2/3 mins from some good restaurants and and pubs.

Sea front view is beautiful

Helpful staff, nice rooms with beautiful sea views and the sound of the waves and birds. Quite street, and only 10 mins walk from the center of Nerja with a truely great Italian restrurant just round the corner called; Made in Italy. We are going back..

Never a 4 star Hotel !

The hotel is very tired and in need of total refurbishment.Room quality is very basic, with not even tea and coffee facilities. Poor pillows too.
The worst feature was undoubtably the breakfast. Poor quality, cheap food served in a 70,s style mass market dining room...... Awful !
The location however is good and easy access to surrounding restaurants, as you certainly dont want to eat in the depressing dining room.

Lovely hotel ideal location

Situated on one of the quieter beaches in Nerja this hotel is ideal for a relaxing holiday. It has two pools -one on the rooftop giving lovely views and although both are small there are usually sun beds available. Our room was clean and comfortable with balcony overlooking the sea. The breakfast buffet was excellent- varied choice of hot and cold foods. Staff were friendly and helpful. Have no doubt that we will stay here again.

The location and views were great. The beds, sheets, and towels were not great quality and the restaurant staff were a bit rude, but in general the pools views and location all made up for it.

very disappointing

Staying in this hotel wrongly advertised as a 4star made our stay in Nerja terrible. The Hotel would be acceptable with 2 stars not more. Perla Marina mostly caters to low-cost all-inclusive travelers with extensive families. We were places in the annex across the street the room had a nice sea view (this was the nice thing to say).
Hotel parking is very limited and you have to find your place somewhere in the streets which are over crowded.
Wi-Fi is next to non existent and we had to go to a closed-by internet cafe. The hotel has a small pool (as well as the annex) and both pools are rapidly overcrowded ,extremely noisy and rowdy.
There is a safe in the room BUT you have to pay a daily fee to use is (this is the first time that we encountered such practice. The floor of the bed room is just cheap linoleum, one of the curtains was filled with stains and holes, the furniture was at yin an overcrowded dull outh hostel level. The TV set did not work and had to be repaired by a technician ...THAT TV set was at least 25 years old. Bath room amenities were the cheapest we ever got in any hotel ...any motel offers better amenities. Breakfast was plentyful but again of the cheapest quality..after one experience we opted to have breakfast on one of the cafes around the corner .

I had an enjoyable stay at the hotel and it was what I expected. I would stay there again! It is right on the beach and at most 10 mins walk from the Balcon in the centre of Nerja.
