When I arrived to the room it was clean but the tv wasn't working. The cabinet door for the refrigerator was loose as it was missing a screw. They fixed quickly the tv but never the cabinet door. I also had problems when I arrived early in the morning as I thought I could sleep in the sofa for a couple of hours before checkin opened in the lobby but it was very difficult as the sofa were uncomfortable. I had previously spoken to reception the day before in the night about when I would arrive as my flight got delayed to try to see if I could have a room only to sleep for a couple of hours before check in and they gave me a price of $198 and when I checked online it was for $134. When I tried to buy the booking online I couldn't complete it as my flight took off and there was no internet. The room I found online was a family room. I explained my situation to the front desk when I arrived and they charged me 2 rooms as they said there was no family room available at extremely high price of around $244 just to sleep for a couple of hours the same day I had a booking that I would check in at 2pm as we arrived at 4am. After talking a long time with the manager he discounted around $20. I don't think it was fair that they charged so much for rooms that I only used for a couple of hours after explaining my situation and showing them the price I found online. When they gave us the room it was 2 twin beds together which was uncomfortable in the morning to sleep as they would separate.

I loved the breakfast they serve every morning. They have lots of fruits and an extensive yogurt bar. My only complaint is the bedroom size for 4 people. There is only 1 king size bed, the other bed is a pullout couch, which takes away a lot of walking space when being used.

Staff very friendly, Elena was very helpful accommodating one last minute request. The property was clean and offers free beverage all day long. I stayed in a quintuple room, it had a good size and the same applies for the bathroom. Toiletries, including toothbrush/toothpaste were available.

I had an excellent stay and experience at the Petit Palace.

It's not the most accessible hotel to find when driving solo in a strange city at night. For example, it could do with more signs showing the car park entrance.

But once I'd convinced myself I was in the right place, I found the staff were friendly and helpful and my check-in was quick.

The room was a great size, very large bed, and everything was spotlessly clean.

The towels were nice quality, and there were 2 cartons of water free in the room, with a kettle and various teas. Mini bar prices for soft drinks were reasonable. The water cartons were fully recyclable materials with plant-based bioplastics. That's a nice touch.

My only 2 minor issues were;-
The room temperature was too warm and changing the settings to reduce room temperature didn't seem to do anything. This is March, so this is a heating issue rather than an air conditioning/ summer temperature problem.

And not having some instant coffee available in the room was disappointing in the morning.

Breakfast was good, the staff helpful, and the general manager introduced himself which again is a nice personable touch.

I was also able to walk a very short distance to get dinner at a local bar/restaurant.

The cost of my stay was similarly priced compared to the other city hotels I considered, and given the good standard and pleasant experience, I would say it was good value.

If I have to return to Madrid I would happily stay here again.

Great place, super comfy beds, great room with a nice big washroom and shower which is sometimes hard to find in Europe. Location was easy to find and the staff was friendly and super helpful with helping use using the metro and get around the city. Would definitively stay again

We stayed here for 3 nights and the hotel was very clean. They were happy to assist with any information we needed (directions, metro times, food service). The room was very clean and the bathroom was beautiful. The only thing is, the air conditioning was centrally controlled so we couldn’t change the fan speed. We managed to walk every day to the city and it was and hour and a half walk. There are nice shops, stalls and supermarkets in the area, but many places don’t speak English. We still managed to get around though and the hotel was central to the town. On our last day, the hotel were happy to store our luggage for us while we waited for our flight. I would recommend you stay here if you want a Spanish area outside the city (away from the hustle and bustle of the city) and definitely make use of the metro, it was literally around the corner from our hotel

A bit average in general for the price.

The air conditioning/heating buttons seem to need some maintenance as some times you need to push hard, others you need to press long. There is no towel rail next to the shower but to be honnes the biggest surprise was the price difference if you include breakfast booking online or in person. Do not hesitate in booking at the property as the price charged online has nothing to do with th one in the hotel. The price at the hotel reflects better the average nature of the breakfast.

A Hidden Gem!!!

Loved it!!
Well kept hotel and friendly staff! Arrived early in the morning and the hotel kept our bags so we could go sight-seeing for the day. Receptionist even provided us with a map and gave us a quick orientation of where things were.

Rooms are looking a little tired. But nothing a coat of paint wouldn’t fix. Bed was HUGE! and very comfortable. Shower was excellent! Plenty of hot water at any time and plenty of complimentary toiletries. Room always cleaned to a high standard also.
Breakfast was good. Continental mainly but constantly kept topped up and a beautiful selection of pastries which we enjoyed immensely.

Only downside was noisy family above us. But we didn’t report this to reception so they are unaware of this.

Brilliant stay and would defo visit again.

A good hotel in a safe and quiet area

Although located a 15 min drive from the center of Madrid, the hotel is very close to the metro. The area is nice and quiet, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast is great with a decent variety. The hotel also offers free bicycles, has good WiFi, a deposit safe and is clean.

When I booked this hotel, I looked for one within walking distance to a specific location. I do not know if it was the hotel itself or the website that was off, but we were 20 minutes by taxi from our location. I was not thrilled at all.
The hotel room itself was VERY small. The staff was friendly and helpful. We flew in from the states and got in much earlier than the check in time. We asked if the rooms were ready (we had 2) and one was but the other was not. We got charged 15 euros for checking in to both rooms early (even though one was already ready). We were all tired from a 10 hour flight and didn't really care. The only other inconvenience was that we didn't have an iron in the room and had to request one. Over all, the hotel was nice. Not one I would stay in again just because it wasn't in a great location.

We only spent one night at the hotel but it was mostly a good experience. The staff was helpful and the room was clean. the kids liked the stuffed animals and candy waiting for them in the room. The breakfast in the morning was also good. The shower was leaking so it would have been a problem if we were staying longer.

Disappointing stay. They put five adults in a double room (brought in a bunk - double on bottom, single on top). It was relatively clean but outdated. The a/c did not work well making our room very uncomfortable for sleeping. On the positive side, it is located in a quiet area, various places to eat nearby and is close to the airport. The reception staff were helpful in ordering taxis for our trip to the airport.

Right next to the old roman aquaduct and restaurants. Great view, very clean and newly renovated. Clean and excellent service. Staff spoke very good English. Breakfast was excellent for the price. No surprises checking in, they had parking garage underneith and was abour $30/day. Price was under $90 and worth it.

nice , pleasant hotel,not the best four star hotel i have stayed in but it was ok.staff very good and helpful.Room was ok, Clean and tidy .Good t.v and internet facilities.
My main complaint is that there was no tea /coffee making facility in the room,or in the hotel for that matter ( except at breakfast time which was not included in our deal).
Even the bar area was not open in at all,no evening meals available ,and kids were v disappointed that there was no pool or playing area.

Don't ever make a mistake to book this hotel

It was the worse experience I have ever had. However the expedia offers this hot as a 4 star hotel, it's not even worth of one star!
The room was not clean. The restroom was smelling so bad you couldn't even tolerate to take a shower! First I checked in, I found this problem on my room and asked to change a room. They moved me from first floor to third floor but it was not that much different. The restroom's smell was still bothering!
The staff was not responsible at all. I got this hotel because it was offering free parking! During 4 nights of my stay, I have just parked in the parking 1 night! I was shocked the day 2 of my stay that I entered the parking and it wasn't any parking available! When I entered the parking and found no parking availabe! I asked the receptionist and he was not responsible st all! He just told me \" ok the parking is full! You should find a parking out of the hotel!!!

\"Non-smoking\" room smelled of smoke but they worked things out to give us a new room; we just had to move for our second and third nights. Location was good -- easy to access the metro -- but the onsite parking advertised was inadequate and we were always forced to park on the street.

We didn't have the breakfast ourselves, but it looked *very* nice.

Hotel away from the hussle and bussle

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for three evenings.The staff are very helpful and friendly and speak very good english. This is our second stay and would gladly stay again,as it is a quieter area and just a short walk away is the metro and for 2 euros you can be on to the Grand Via. The breakfast is good but may become a bit boring if you were there for a longer spell, also the internet is good to keep in touch with your emails etc.
The only downside is there was n o English televison channels but we were out most of the time

Disappointing Stay

Had this hotel not been listed as a four star hotel, my review would be somewhat more full of praise rather than criticism. If Expedia's explanation of a four star hotel (accessible by clicking on the yellow stars) is to be trusted, this hotel most definitely has a the wrong star rating.
Once my fiance and I arrived at the hotel, just judging from the outside we knew that the pictures had decieved us. Walking in, the lobby is full of somehwhat modern furniture, however a close look will show you that it probably has not been cleaned in quite some time. There were absolutely no \"fine-dining\" restaurants and even though room service would have suited us just fine we were disappointed to find out that it is only availablle Monday -Friday (we checked in on a Saturday). In our room there was what I guess was supposed to be bench that did not have a cushion but some sort of padding that was extremely dirty and marred. Although our bathroom was indeed large, the shower is the size of a corner and the water pressure does not leave you feeling clean.
As far as the service goes, it must be said that the staff was helpful and along with the laptop supplied and close distance to the metro station they are the only praise worthy things the hotel has to offer.
In closing if you are looking for a 2 1/2 to a gracious 3 star hotel then this would fit the bill. However if it is anything above a 3 you are expecting, be prepared to be disappointed.

I reserve this hotel for my family (family room) for 4 adults, but the room was a regular one, one queen and one sofa bed, very small room, I had to reserve another single via expedia again because the hotel did not want to give me a good rate for the last minute change, bad internet service and the breakfast is cheap but limted. Well conected to the underground but the hotel does not have any information about city attractions nor event promotions like any other hotel in a turistic city. Staff not willing to help, when I asked for transportation to the airport the rates where 15 euros higher at the time to reserve, this is not an hotel matter but the services offered in this conflict is a fact. Sorry, but the new front view of te hotel now is metalic, does not look good, instead of a cozy little hotel, looks like low budget goverment building. My next visit to Madrid I will stay somewhere else a bit more pricy.

The staff at High Tech, from the front desk to the breakfast help, is first rate; patient and helpful. Their breakfast buffet is impressive (although it should be for 10 euros). The weak point of the hotel is the condition of the facility. While it is clean, there were several items (mostly in the bathroom) that needed replacement, not simply quick fixes.

The staff was very very nice. There is a Metro a block from the hotel. Beautiful neighborhood. The only problem we found was that the room was too small for 5 people. We expected it to be an apartment, but it was a regular hotel room for 5 people. No kitchen. So for us it was too small. But the hotel is great, the staff was so nice and helped us so much. If I am going again I will take a room there if we are less than 5.

We were happy with the hotel which we used for a two night stop over before continuing to southern Spain. The room was clean, although some maintenance work would have been useful. The multi nozzle massage power shower worked OK, but some (not all) of the nozzles would have benefited from de-scaling (they all worked). The exercise bike in the room was usable, but the electronic readout wasn't working, and the whole thing could have used ten minutes with a spanner to tighten up the seat and handlebars. The hotel is a long rectangle shape with the lift/stairwell towards the centre; the free wi-fi works well near the stairwell, but the rooms at the furthest ends (like mine) are just outside signal range. The breakfast was a buffet style, help yourself, but with a staff member helping as required. Hotel prices for the meal were as usual a bit steep, but no more than other hotels. It was nice food and a good variety to suit all European tastes. The Metro station is a two minute walk away, with a 20 minute journey to the tourist areas.

The location is fantastic because it's right next to a metro stop, the service was extremely friendly and nice. The beds are stiff,.. the free wifi is only available in the lobby unless you use the laptop provided in the room. The beds were rock solid, but the pillows were plush. The bathrooms were nice, yet there were some broken tiles and whatnot in the bathroom. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone. For the price it can't be beat. Way better than a hostel.

Family Hotel close to the metro

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and received great service from the reception desk. The hotel was located within 2 minutes of the metro that took us downtown in 20 minutes. It was also within walking distance of a shopping mall. There was limited free parking available on site as well as on the street. The wifi worked in the hallways and the lobby but did not work in our room on the 1st floor although our room included a free laptop. There was a lack of sound proofing as we could hear all the doors closing and people talking in the hallways. The reception desk recommended a great Italian restaurant within a 5 minute walk.

Good Hotel, Conveniently Located

Good hotel in a convenient location for travelling on Madrid Metro to the centre.

The local area is great with a good selection of bars, most of which a great breakfast can be had at - this is because the hotel breakfast was a little expensive for our family of 4.

Our room did get a little hot with the sun during the day, however the air conditioning was not connected yet as too early in the season!

Internet connectivity by WiFi did not work from our room, however the in room laptop was fantastic.

Would have been better if we could have control of the air conditioner. The temperature went up for the whole week during the day and afternoon and the temperature inside was 27 celsius (80 farenheit)every afternoon we stayed except the first day, other than that everything was fine. Nice location, easy access to the metro nice bars and restaurants around the neighborhood, will go back and stay awesome week in Spain never will regret it!

Good value.

We stayed here for four nights, the room was clean and comfortable. The room was hot and the air conditioning wasn't turned on. Due to this we had the windows open at night time and found it noisy. The shower was a little 'high tech' but after some trial &error we got it working. The staff tried to be helpful however the language was a barrier. We would stay here again.

Pros:
1. Near the metro, which will take you to the center of Madrid.
2. Its alot cheaper than the hotels you will find in Madrid.
3. There was plenty of space on our room.
4. The hotel staff speaks english and is very helpful with the metro and attractions.

Cons:
1. Limited parking. The hotel has about 12 reserved slots where you have to drive up on the side walk. Keep in mind its a one way. The parking along the street is extremely limited. Parallel parking skills is a must if the parking lot is full. We went during the off season so there was parking.

The metro only takes a couple of minutes to walk to from the hotel and there is a shopping center with several restaurants a block away. The area was quiet as it was away from downtown and tourist areas. The pictures of the family room are a bit misleading as it was much smaller than it appeared on-line. The room also had no bathtub (important if you have small children). However, breakfast was decent and the computer in the room was a nice plus. Also, we went in November so there was also an outdoor ice skating rink and a small market set up across the street from us which provided entertainment for both the kids and adults.

A quiet comfortable hotel

I recently stayed at the High Tech Arturo Soria with my husband and 9 year old daughter. We had a triple room which was very comfortable and had plenty of space for all of us. The room had a king size bed for my husband and me and a single bed for my daughter. I'm not sure whether I would call the hotel 'high tech' but it was very modern, clean and comfortable. There was free wifi available in the rooms (get a code from the front desk) and each room comes with a laptop, though we used our own laptops instead. There is climate control in each room.

The neighbourhood around the hotel is one of the reasons we booked it. Though the hotel is on a main street it is a quiet residential area and our stay was very quiet. The hotel is about 100 metres from the Ciudad Lineal metro station, which is on line 5 of the metro. It's about 10 - 15 minutes on the metro to central stations such as Gran Via or Callao.

It is also an easy trip to the airport. Take the metro away from the city centre to station Canillejas and change there to the number 200 bus, which goes directly to the airport. The journey took less than 30 minutes including waiting for the bus. You'll need a separate ticket for the bus which you can buy on the bus, so don't pay the airport supplement on your metro ticket.

We did not eat our breakfasts in the hotel. Instead each day we ate at a local cafeteria just next to the metro station. They do wonderful 'cafe solo' or 'cafe con leche' and tostadas with peach jam, all for a very reasonable price.

All in all we were very happy with our stay at the High Tech Arturo Soria. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it, especially for other families who might want a slightly quieter location to stay.

Excellent Madrid Hotel

The High Tech Arturo Soria is an outstanding hotel that is very reasonably priced. It's in a quiet and safe neighborhood in Madrid, but is 200 m from the Ciudad Lineal metro station and is also very close to a shopping mall. The room was very comfortable and came with a free laptop with a high speed internet connection. Overall, we would recommend this hotel very highly and would definitely stay here again if we return to Madrid.

Good Clean hotel with proximity to Madrid City

Hotel was nice. Took about 20 minutes and 35 Euro's to reach the hotel. Check in was easy. Room was little small for 2 adults and 2 kids, nice batchroom. Friendly front desk, free bikes to go around the area, close to a shopping mall and shopping area. The Metro station Cuidad Lineal was literally 3 minutes walk from the hotel, takes about 1 euro and 15-20 minutes to go into any part of madrid city. Had good time.

Hotel is nice and friendly. 20min from city center by metro, 100m from metro station. Room was a bit small for 2adults+2kids, but that was expected, we're budget travelers. We weren't taking breakfast in the hotel cause we wanted to have a local taste :)

Wonderful Hotel

The hotel was very nice. A/C worked great! Shower was too small, but, the rest of the room was very modern. In-room safe a plus. Perfect location to get to the underground. The only down side was getting from the airport. The hotel is only a 10-15 minute drive from airport; but, it could take 45-60 minutes by underground since the two underground lines are not linked. We took a taxi for about 20 euros to the hotel to save time. Getting to all the attractions in Madrid were no problem.

Beyond Expectations!

I'm not sure where to start praising this hotel: the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the amenities in the room (including a laptop in each room), or the fact that it's near the metro and not too far from the center of the city. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the next time I visit Madrid I look forward to staying there again.

Convenient and Comfortable

I love this hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and spent a good amount of time with me to show me how to get to the local attractions. Hotel is located a block away from the metro station and takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center. Its also close to a small mall and Calle de Alcala which has dozens of retails stores at reasonable prices. The internet was fast, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

Good value hotel with very helpful staff

This hotel offers excellent value for Madrid. Rooms are all a good size, with very spacious bathrooms and 'walk in' showers. All rooms are equipped with laptop PC's offering free internet access. There are tea/coffee facilities and a large LCD TV - the only downside is the lack of any English language programmes (don't know why -as these used to be available at High Tech hotels). The hotel is a little bit out of the city centre, but is only 100 metres/300 feet from the local Metro Station, which will get you to all the main tourist sites within 15 minutes. It is worth noting that the Madrid metro is very cheap, clean, safe, and offers a very regular service (rare to wait more than 4/5 minutes for a train). Staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful, allowing us to check in early on day one, and looking after our bags until the evening on our day of departure. For those not fluent in Spanish, all staff we met had a good grasp of English, and were happy to assist with hints and tips on tourist sites, shopping etc. Don't expect luxury, but this hotel will offer good value and clean accomodation in a safe neighbourhood. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

La habitación se mantenía muy bien aunque había un desconchón en la ducha. Y hemos podido disfrutar de nuestra mascota. ¡Muchas gracias a todo el personal por el recibimiento!

El hotel tiene una ubicación fantástica, a dos o tres minutos de una estación del metro. El checkin es a las 2:00 pm, sin embargo, en cuanto llegamos al hotel, a eso de las 12:00 pm, ya estaba lista y nos permitieron entrar. El personal de recepción es muy amable. El desayuno fue excelente. Productos de calidad, una amplia cantidad de alimentos, ¡un gran plus!. Éramos mis tres hijos y yo y la habitación fue perfecta para los 4 (3 adultos y un joven). Descansas bien. Nos quedamos seis noches y sin lugar a dudas ¡volveríamos a este hotel!
