Fabulous location, but a little T&C needed in room

This hotel is in a superb location in a beautiful place. The hotel has a stunning aspect and staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely.

However, there were a few things that could be improved on which would really impact on quality of stay, in my view.

1. There doesn't appear to be an elevator to rooms, so had to lug bag upstairs with injured knee. No-one asked if any assistance was needed with bags on check-in which is something I'd strongly suggest should occur.

2. The room looked very tired - carpet was stained and worn in places; felt like room hadn't been cleaned very well (dust on skirting/doors, dust on velvet headboard).

3. Seems to be a plumbing issue in bathroom - toilet (cistern maybe) and bath both seemed to leak.

Designate a drinking area.

Hotel lacked a traditional Irish bar. There seemed to be no distinct drinking area as all the tables were set for dinner and there was only five stools at the bar. Staff did offer to serve drink in a tv room. Way below what anyone would expect in an Irish hotel.
Grout in bathroom badly needs replacement. We generally enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Lighting in room was poor and bathroom had an extraction fan that ran for ages after light was turned off. I had fish and chips in restaurant and there were too many chips and everything seem to have been cooked in salt

The place was lovely, lots of beautiful scenery. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Several cafes to get coffee/tea and pastries. Onsite restaurant was good but can get overly busy for dinners especially weekends since the area is limited for eating out at dinner time.

Close enough for a leisurely stroll down to the river bridge, and villages on each bank of the Shannon.
Very picturesque location adjacent to the harbour and boats.
Internally an interesting mix of stone and timber features, also book shelf dividers in restaurant.

The hotel is in a great spot with plenty of parking. Rooms are good, breakfast is great but what really makes the hotel is the staff, they are a real credit to the hotel. Irene at breakfast couldnt do enough. I'll definitely be back. Thank you.

noticeable stain on the curtain. Staff charged me a balance later was explained a mistake, resulted in a couple dollars loss due to foreign exchange rate. Front desk staff didn’t gave us an option to use the elevator, especially when we have heavy suitcases. I like Killaloe area. Not the hotel. The spa was average also. With a surprising 4.7 rating on google.

We stayed on 26th dec & with late check in but got an email early in the day for designated room number . So staff were well aware which room we were checking into. The room was Baltic , the sheets on the bed were so cold we had to wear our full clothing to eventually heat up .

We got to hotel girl on reception was very nice,she checked us in ,we went to our room once we opened the door the smell of damping and mold was terrible, went back to reception and she's changed ours room the room was ok until we opened the bathroom door the mold on the ceiling was just terrible, paint works was flanking off the timber, I could go on!!!!
Went to have a shower in the morning no hot water. It was a terrible weekend away.
The only good thing was the breakfast and staff were very nice.
We paid over 583 euro for what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend which turned out to be so stressful.

We stayed one night at the hotel in a deluxe room with terrace- room 111. Large bed and plenty of space. The room Wass very quiet and having the little patio area was really nice and private. We both had an excellent nights sleep and enjoyed a tasty breakfast. Receptionist at checkin was very helpful and friendly. I would love to return!

These issues were raised with the hotel and many have been commented on before in reviews and obviously not addressed. Room comfortable but repainting needed. Table/benches badly scratched. As a 4 star hotel, a fridge would be appreciated – “free bottled water” rather warm at this time of year. Lighting hopeless - just lamps, can’t read in bed. Room above some sort of heater/generator which boosted several times during the night and very noisy. Outside area of room gravelled so lots of noise of people moving about at night and early (3.15am, 5am, 6am) but told by staff that the area is not used. Bathroom miniscule. Water pressure/temperature erratic. Grout needs replacing. House cleaning sporadic – glasses, towels not changed. Bins not emptied. Toiletries not replaced. Bench and bath not cleaned. . Vacuuming not done. Reception – some staff great such as Megan, Ellen and Rebecca, others not so helpful. Had to assist four groups who ended up outside my room to their rooms. Dining – laminated tables peeling. Over a fortnight, menu did not change. Side portions horrible. Laundry – told not available but boast about it in FAQ on website. Managers/staff need more training. Solo travellers as important as others. Would never stay here again even if paid. See tripadviser for full review

Nice, clean, comfortable hotel in a nice locaation. It's a small hotel and with that comes a friendlly helpful service. The room we stayed in was adequate with a king size bed, TV, table and all the usual furniture that you expect. It's a short 10 or 15 minute pleasant walk into town and probably much quicker that taking the car as Killaloe is the first feasible crossing of the Shannon after Lough Derg which means it can be quite busy with traffic

It had a beautiful entryway and place to lounge while waiting to dine. And a wonderful private patio area off of my hotel room. I also felt like the sliding glass door to the patio area was well secured.
I had some concern about the emergency exit door close to my room that it was not shut and I could not shut it. But when I asked the front desk they had someone come and secure it.

Booked 2 night stay,11th-13th May. Lovely Hotel, Lovely clean room in a beautiful setting. Booked meal in Bar/Resteraunt for 8.30. Ordered our maincourse and said we would order dessert later.Very limited Menu, but food was nice. Problem arose when at 9.10pm we asked to see the Dessert Menu and were told by that the Kitchen was now closed and we couldn't have the menu. We were offered Ice Cream or A chocolate cheese cake. In almost 40 years of eating in Resteraunts and Hotels this was the first time encountering this bizarre situation. We also got the distinct impression that they wanted us out of the Bar/Resteraunt. We bought some drinks and sat in lobby. Approx 50 minutes later I spoke with the manager . What followed was straight out of The Basil Fawlty school of Hotel Management. Manager thought it was perfectly acceptable in a 4☆hotel for a customer to get half their meal as the chef finished at 9 and couldn't see what my problem was as we had got Ice Cream. The only apology he gave was for the receptionist not telling us that kitchen closed at 9. He stood arguing with me ,obviously not a fan of the' Customer is always right ' approach. As we're walking away he insulted me. I asked him to repeat it and he said I was overreacting. I said he was a disgrace. We checked out following afternoon even though we had paid for another night having our break completely destroyed by a very rude, arrogant manager. A shame that this charming hotel is let down by a charmless Manager.
