Lakeside Inn was an awesome place back in time. Mt Dora is a very neat place. It was a great place to relax. Absolutely beautiful. The staff was so so. We stayed in the inn that allowed dogs of which I am grateful. It had old dirty carpet and the cleaning staff was super loud but the place as a whole was worth the stay. The lake was beautiful. I’d stay again.

Very pretty!! Staff was fantastic! Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The room was clean, bright and comfortable. The bed was a bit hard for me but it did not hinder my stay. Will definitely be returning with the hubby for the hotel experience and strolling through all the beautiful boutiques, restaurants and bars in town. The restaurant was pleasant but my shrimp cocktail was overcooked & dry. The bruschetta was very good but the balsamic glaze was too sweet for my taste. All in all, I am so excited to return for a longer stay.

We woke up to a swarm of termites in the bed and throughout the room.
The lady at the front desk said that was just normal and offered free breakfast. A building that old should have more frequent pest maintenance. Also let future travelers know of the issues, especially if it's \"normal\" to have termites sleep with you.

Hotel property beautiful. Location is excellent. Food was delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Decor brings down the hotel from a 5star to 3star.
Rooms need to be renovated. Lobby, bar and restaurant need to be updated.
Bedroom was awful. The toilet seat was small, more for a toddler than an adult. Furniture is tired, dreary, dull, and needs to be replaced.

Beautiful setting on the lake. This older hotel exudes character and our room was comfortable. We did not have this issue, but my sister-in-law had termites in her room, which was a problem, obviously. The staff was very friendly. Overall wonderful experience.

When our room was cleaned they changed out the towels and took trash. Empty paper roll for toilet and dead bugs on floor. Only half cleaned. Not good. Then a dinner reservation was made for Sunday inside and then we find out that restaurant isn't closed on Sunday so eating on the veranda. Staff should have known that when taking reservation. Negatives : Not so nice desk lady said come back later at check-in time, No microwave or room refrigerator.

The property is very nice and has a great location. The view of the lake is very nice. There is a serious bug problem apparently during May. These blind mosquitoes are EVERYWHERE! They were somehow getting into our room through the bathroom window and you find bugs and wings all over the window sills and floor. This was unpleasant

The property looks very nice, However, if you look closely you’ll notice an inn that is a bit rundown and requires a lot of TLC. Our room was littered with termite wings and smelled musty and damp. On the flip side, it is located within walking distance of downtown and the staff are excellent!

Our room was old fashioned, but that was why we stayed there (the hotel dates to 1883). Comfortable bed, excellent on site restaurant that attracts many locals as well as guests. Right in the heart of Mount Dora, which itself has many historical buildings and is very walkable. A peaceful place to stay. And the staff was just wonderful.

Lovely stay. Room was comfortable, only suggestion is to have somewhere to put personal toiletries. Also the water was not very hot for either of my showers. Property was beautifully maintained except it would have been nice if one could have gotten drinks poolside. Will definitely stay there again.

My boyfriend and I just came back from a long weekend at the Lakeside Inn and we really enjoyed ourselves!! PSA if you are not looking to stay in a HISTORIC ANTIQUE hotel this may not be for you, but it was for us! Beautifully restored wood floors, clawfoot tub for soaking (plumbing was backwards), cozy hand made quilts for each room! You may lack the modern conveniences like a refrigerator in your room (we ended up bringing a small cooler for leftovers and used ice from the machine on the first floor) but it makes up for it in the charm and character. The location is everything! Absolutely beautiful and perfectly located to all of downtown Mount Dora’s shops and restaurants. Everything we wanted to do was already there within walking distance and the few things we drove off property for were 10-20 minutes away. We will most certainly be back!

Upon walking up to the building, I noticed it hasn’t seen a pressure washer since 1920. Bugs cover every window, outside chair, ceilings, gazebo.. infested. When I entered the building, I was greeted by the smell of mold. Understandably it’s an old building, but it near knocked me out. Once I got into my room, I stepped foot on a crunchy stained rug that’s probably never seen a shampoo. The bathroom was extremely basic and a bugs of course stuck to the wall. While I shower with soap filled hair, suddenly the water stopped, and again and again and this continued every time we used water. Upon lifting the sheets to snuggle up in bed, I’m greeted by not one but 3 mosquitos stuck to the inside of the sheets. Then look to my left and see another bug that I cannot name exactly. Completely exhausted, I grabbed the blanket I took from home, thank god. I turned to plug my phone in bed and what do you know, there’s no plug and some random guests bracelet waited patiently for me to find it. During the night the AC continuously turns on/off and the room will fluctuate significantly. I felt a hot flash all night long, sweating to freezing. Finally morning, we eagerly pack our things and go to check out. Im told there’s “complimentary coffee” and I’m excited by one final let down… the most horrible bitter bottom shelf coffee you can buy. Thanks supervisor of Lakeside Inn for being the worst host & least compassionate person. Your declining to reconcile this is GROSSLY irresponsible.

The property is very pristine. Over 100 year old facility, beautiful old lodges, very scenic. The food at the restaurant was excellent. When we checked in, was given a set of room keys that did not fit the locks on the door. After reviewing the situation with the desk, I informed them that I wanted another room. The rooms were old by nature. but usable. I am not sure I would stay there again.

We stayed Apr 23-24th, room 7123 and our room had black mold on the walls.They painted over it but it was bubbled out and was very mushy. Our whole room smelled like mold. There were droppings in the closet that looked like mouse poop. The bathroom was not clean and the light fixture had never been cleaned. The towels felt like sad paper on your skin. This isn't a huge deal but the TV was completely fuzzy and you couldn't read the guide because it was so distorted. We were told there was towels at the pool, but there were none. A lot of little things wrong but the biggest was the black mold. Hopefully they will get this fixed, but we will never stay there again.

The stay at the Inn was peaceful and quaint. The staff was very helpful in suggesting places to visit and eat (other than at the Inn, which had nice dining facilities). Heads up though - there isn’t an elevator, so luggage has to be carried up one flight of stairs.

Going to Mount Dora, this place is a must stay. It's a historic hotel so keep that in mind. The toilet is really small and the bathroom is that of a Hotel built in the last century. It all adds to the charm of this beautiful and historic place. Only bad thing I would say is that they should invest in better beds. The place is beautiful, unique, authentic, and definitely the place you want to stay at if you are visiting Mount Dora for the first time. The restaurant was very good and the staff was extremely nice and helpful.

There aren't many options in the area for nice hotels, but if this hotel was upgraded inside, it would be a knockout given the location. We 'roughed it' just to be lakeside and within walking distance to the shoppes and restaurants but holy cow. The bathroom had black mold on the ceilings due to lack of ventilation, the carpets look original to the hotel. Bedding was in rough shape. Lighting, fixtures, windows, gosh everything was in poor shape. They have an amazing opportunity with their pool location, although it's not heated and thus not usable most of the year. The have great outdoor terrace seating for dining and drinks and what could be a great lobby once renovated. I really hope the get funding to turn this place into a gem as Mt Dora is an exceptional little town to visit in Florida and they stuck good with their location. 5 star location, 1 star hotel.

We booked a King Size Suite with Sofa bed. We got a king size bed in a small room with only one night stand. There was no consideration to the comfort. In addition to missing a night stand, there was a pedastal sink with absoultely no room for toiletries in the bathroom. It's a large bathroom with plenty of room for a table for guests to use. Also, the hair dryer was filthy! I understand this is an old hotel, but not receiving the room we booked and paid for was totally disappointing! I would not recommend this hotel.

Check in was delayed an hour because the room wasn’t ready. The room was spacious and comfortable. Decor was 90’s country. AC worked well. The shower took a bit for the hot water to come in, and water pressure came in and out. Parking was easy when we checked in on Friday but Saturday was difficult. We had to park at the back of the overflow lot on gravel. It was also poorly lit. Breakfast on the porch was good. The host was very friendly and welcoming. The view of the lake was nice. Food was served fresh and quickly. The location can’t be beat, basically a 5-10 minute walk to most restaurants and shops. While some aspects of the inn are outdated, its charm, view of the lake, and location make up for it.
