Host and staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and quiet, its a shame that it is only the bathroom that has view of the river. The old pub where you can get drinks, lovely food and a nice atmosphere is in need of some work, but Im guessing that is something they are looking at. Lots of free parking and a great location to experience what the area has on offer.

I stayed at the Fenwick a couple of times now travelling on business and enjoyed my stays. The rooms are very well presented and always nice a warm. Good food, especially breakfast. I think the road outside does not do the hotel any favours, but once your inside you can forget the road.

Delightful managers and staff, ready and eager to help. The room (3) itself was beautiful and cosy. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bedsheets smelled lovely. The shower was amazing, the bathroom gorgeous. The general decor of the room and bathroom were lovely. I would definitely stay here again! Unfortunately I didn’t have time (I was working) to sample the food, but I definitely will next time!
If you have accessibility needs, let them know way ahead of time as most of the rooms are up a flight of external stairs. But the kind manager helped me upstairs with my very heavy bags! At the back of my room was a flowing river, and it was a beautiful view.
10/10 experience on every level. Check out is 11am and check in starts at 4pm. But I think they offer early check in too if you make them aware beforehand. Plenty of safe parking onsite. Teas and coffees were provided and tv too!

Rooms compact but have everything you need. Checkout on the booking stated 3pm but when I arrived there was no one there and everything was locked. Check-in was actually 4pm.
I was in the first room -2 - and it was next to a boiler/air conditioning unit. Very noisy and kept me awake.

Not great. Left standing around at the reception point for 10-15 mins owing to staff shortages. Food was ok but noticed grumpy customers complaining about the standards. Batter on the fish served was too thick and undercooked which was disappointing. Staff were all friendly. Room was ok and a great shower to revive.

The staff here are incredible, so friendly and helpful. We stayed for a nearby wedding and they gave us an iron and iron board and taxi recommendations. The food also tasted amazing and was great quality, the menu isn't large but they do regularly change their specials. The room itself was nice, it was quite small but to be expected for such an old property, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom modern. Our only issue was the cleanliness. Overall it was good but there was a large amount of hair under the bed that would emerge whenever we got into bed. The other only add on would be the addition of a mini fridge. Completely understand that it's a bonus not a necessity, however the room was very hot and simply drinking water felt like it was straight from the kettle.

I would recommend staying here to anyone needing to, its great value for money and served it's purpose great

Staff were amazing, room was beautiful and very well kept. Would only have to comment on the light shining through the bathroom window all night from the storage area outside, and the shower cubicle wasn't very clean (moldy grout, mold on shower fittings), but the room itself was very modern and warm. We stayed in room 9, which was dog friendly. It was located on the ground floor, right near the entrance to the pub, I was worried we would be able to hear everything going on but I can't say that we were disturbed by any of the other guests walking past the room at all!
Food is VERY reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

The room was very comfortable once we had turned the heating up a bit. The shower room was big with a hot powerful shower.
The only slight complaint about the room was that either the carpet had not been vacuumed or the vacuum cleaner was useless.

The restaurant is very welcoming and serves excellent food.

The hotel/pub is on a main road so if your a light sleeper this might not be for you. The staff at the pub were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfy and cosy.

Parking was easy.

We were working in Lancaster the following day and this hotel was perfect for us, we both slept fine.

Don't spackle the potholes with gravy anymore.

Our first night stay during this UK trip. If only all places were like this. We booked it as a 'King', but were originally shown a lesser room. Was perfect for our weary jet-lagged bones that had started the day in Calgary Alberta over 20 hours before. Up and off to Lindisfarne via Ribblehead, Buttertubs and Wensleydale the next morning. Would stay again.

Had a wonderful time

My partner and I came up north for a hike, we spent two nights here and it was great; a good location and a peaceful scenery. Breakfast was good as well.
Post services was amazing as I lost my headphones, and they were able to find it and offered to send it via post.

I stayed here for 2 nights to use as a base to do the Yorkshire 3 peaks as well as head towards Windermere for an after. The entire experience was brilliant. The room was fantastic, the food amazing (I had the burger one night and the steak the next, both absolutely gorgeous and perfectly cooked). Most of all the staff were so friendly and welcoming, going as far as to giving me a card on my birthday which was a fantastic little touch.

Overall I would happily stay here again if I'm visiting around this area without question!

The room was well laid out and comfortable, good size bathroom and shower. We booked a meal in the bar, which was unfortunately below our expectations, the wine list didn’t correspond with the wine that they actually had. The description of food on the menu and special board was misleading and unfortunately when the food arrived we were disappointed. Breakfast was ok, the coffee, tea, cereal station was very limited and the coffee ran out and was not checked or replaced. The service in the bar both during dinner and breakfast was unenthusiastic.

Service was excellent, and the staff (especially the young South African lady) were extremely friendly and helpful. The shower in the room was a little loose with the fittings needing tightening up and the area for our dog to do her business is really limited to the car park, unless you want to take a drive. But as an overnight stay for onward travel it was warm and friendly and the food was good with a decent choice.

Generally OK, but going downhill recently

I’ve been staying here quite frequently over the last few months awaiting a house move and to begin with it was excellence at a fair price. The superior rooms are the ones to go for (there’s two, 7 and 8) as the others are lacking general cleanliness (plenty of spiders webs and bugs around) and the beds in the standard rooms are significantly less comfortable than the superior ones.

I’ve also eaten here a few times. The first time was great, the second time was barely edible.

the room was lovely and was well decorated and maintained.Lovely bathroom with a good powerful shower we were in room1 which i think was the largest room on available.The room could of done with some heating in the room in the evening as it was cold.
the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the service was good. We went on a Thursday and there was plenty of free parking spaces. we booked the hotel as it promoted fish and steak on the menu-the tables were all set and well presented.i ordered fish pie which came in a dish and nothing else-the topping was crispy but overall it was really disappointing as it only had one tiny prawn and not much taste and a few green beans or a selection of veg would of made a real difference. i only have a small appetite but i was still hungry when i had finished the portion. my partner ordered the chicken katsu and it looked good and was very tasty but again just came with rice and no other side. So it was a nice experience but i would not go back due to the food-plus there are so many other hotels in the area

Just avoid! Breakfast dire / bedroom uncomfortable

Really disappointing! I found the room stuffy and far too hot suring the night. The pillows are just not comfortable. Had dinner and it was ok although the steak was a bit chewy. Service was fine. BUT i would never stay here again as breakfast was an absolute farce! There were 5 people in the restaurant and it took an hour to have breakfast. Service was terrible. Ordered full english and asked for toast. It took 40 mins for the food to arrive. I sat waiting and waiting for the food. When the food arrived the toast was dumped on top, the yolk of the paoched egg broken and had become solid. The staff didn't care. I spoke to the waitress and breakfast chef and they just shrugged off my comments. This hotel is supposed to be a gastro hotel and it falls far far short of this! This is probably the worst breakfast I've had in a hotel and Ive stayed in a lot of hotels.

I wouldn't go back or recommend.

Start with the positives. Nice room, comfy bed, staff are nice, food is decent although a bit pricey.

I travel a lot for work and have stayed in my fair share of hotels, so maybe my expectations are too high? I booked the king room, which is a more expensive room, with the thought process that it might be located in a more relaxing area of the building.

Far from the truth... The king room was located right next to the main road and only realised the extent of noise after retiring to the room after some drinks and food.

The constant drone of loud motorcycles was pretty horrendous, but most cyclists are out for the day ride, so okay, that's at least bearable.

What's not bearable and a bit ridiculous is, in the early doors of the morning, lorries going past the building, shaking the room and making the radiator reverberate.

My colleague also heard another guest complaining from her room, which woke her up, mentioning that they had booked a twin room and had been given a double.

Make of this review what you will, but if you value peace and quiet when you sleep, give it a miss.

Lovely old Inn

Great stay at this comfortable old Inn. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food was excellent and plentiful.

Our room had everything we needed and we especially liked the large shower.

The only negative was that it is right next to a busy A road, but most of the accommodation is at the rear of the property. The road noise was only noticeable in the bar/restaurant which is next to the road.

We would definitely stay again if in the area.

A really charming country pub hotel in Lancashire. The interior is oldy worldly with log fires, stone floor & solid wood furniture, warch your ankles. The staff were friendly & helpful, the service good but a bit slow in the dining room, there appeared to be only two ladies doing alot of tables. The food however was really great as said on the entrance from land & sea a really good choice of surf & turf which I really like. A good wine choice with fair pricing.The room we had was huge No7. The decor really good & fitted in with the period detail of the pub. The bed was particularly comfortable with good quality pillows too. The only drawback was a bit of road noise but to be fair there was a motorbike rally going on lically, all in all a brilliant place for a foody stay.

A lovely little pub that we used for a one night stop over on our way back from Scotland to Southampton. Very dog friendly. The room was newly refurbished and big enough for one night. The shower was hot and the towels fluffy always a plus. The pub itself is very comfortable and if you like seafood you won’t be disappointed- check out their specials board. Breakfast was of a high standard and set us up nicely for the rest of the drive home!

A great find for good food and comfortable beds

Quick check in and lovely large room and bathroom the only comment is that access to the bedrooms is via external stairs which meant going to dinner we had to take our coats due to the rain and again for breakfast due to the cold & wind which did spoil the stay slightly.
Service is very friendly but they were very busy so had some waiting at times but the food was excellent and lovely real fires mad such we were all warm.

The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed for our stay and were clean. Would definitely recommend and will probably be back in the future to explore the area more.
