The hotel staff are lovely and very helpful, the location was great, the room was clean but small with no window, as it was interior facing, which felt stuffy and dark.

I recommend asking specifically for an outward facing room if you stay here. And I highly recommend that the hotel clarifies what an internal room means on booing sites.

I would rate it as 4 stars, definitely not 5 stars, as everything that would rate it higher costed extra- Breakfast was not included, parking was not included- so just he aware when booking.

Overall it was fine for two nights.

Mixed Experience – Great Location, But Service and Amenities Fall Short

Parking was a nightmare. There is no proper entry or driveway to pull up to the hotel entrance and unload luggage. I had to call hotel while cycling. Parking costs €20 per day, required to give a 20-minute notice.

The pool closes at 7 PM, not 8 PM as advertised online. Breakfast was especially underwhelming at €23 per person. The bacon was dry, likely left out too long, and the croissants tasted two days old. despite being in Crete—known for its incredibly fresh and sweet watermelon, peaches...the hotel served what tasted like commercialized fruit. There are so many better breakfast options around the area. Having been spoiled by good meals throughout Greece, this breakfast was a letdown.
Service was inconsistent. When valet returned our car, the staff member walked off without assisting with luggage—leaving me standing there with tip in hand and bags waiting to be loaded. On the day of our arrival, the receptionist seemed impatient and unprofessional. However, the next morning, a different staff member at the front desk was very courteous and professional.

The hotel’s best feature is its convenient location.for last-minute shopping or an overnight stay before a flight. I wouldn’t recommend it for longer stays or for those looking for warm service and quality.

found one of two hotel car parking space outside hotel available - yippee- quick efficient check in (but room not ready at 14.30 so went for a coffee in cafe and receptionist alerted me when key became available). efficient lift, gr8 room with excellent A/C small balcony with sea view. noisy road at times. had dinner in rooftop pool bar at 9pm good & gr8 value. comprehensive breakfast- recommended

The breakfast was varied and lovely.
The hotel was well located for transport and trips.
The reception staff let the hotel down in my opinion. However, there are many eateries nearby where the staff are friendly and warm.

Perfect location for sightseeing and busses.
Clean, comfortable bed, good shower, extensive breakfast choice and the icing on the cake is the rooftop pool/bar which has lovely food with great service, a pool to cool down in and amazing views.

Capsis Astoria is very conveniently located. It’s on the bus route to and from the airport so getting there is 1.20€. It’s also next door to the Heraklion archeological museum and on the bus route to Knossos. There are multiple restaurants nearby ranging from casual cafes to fine dining. We highly recommend Pemptos Ntore restaurant just across the way on the fifth floor. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating, letting us check in when we arrived at 11 am. The breakfast is substantial. We enjoyed sitting at the pool and having a drink. They have a small version of a Greek windmill on the roof. Very Instagram friendly. We recommend it highly.

Our group had 3 rooms. The front desk upgraded all of us to suites for the one night stay. We were able to walk to the museum which is less than a block. The front desk helped us with transportation to Knossos and to the ferry.

Top Hotel - with a GREAT Rooftop Bar

I typically stay here for work trips to HER - Thia is the 6/7th time I've been here and it has an amazing rooftop bar (with great food!) to watch the sunset and work (or to catch some sun).
I love the hotel and it's super close to everything. If you feel lazy there is also a gun there so it covers everything. Thank you Capsis team ❤️

Fabulous Stay

A wonderful stay. Hotel was centrally located with great access to everything. Rooftop pool and bar was a particular highlight. Cannot recommend enough for a stay in Heraklion. Staff were so friendly and helpful too.

Hotel was awful, very outdated. There was a terrible musty smell in our room that doesn’t go away, so bad. The bed was very low and hard, no comfort. Flooring was also peeling away. Shower head did not work properly, was broken. Very old, needs a big revamp!

Good for exploring Heraklion

The hotel is right beside the Archeological Museum and within walking distance of many other attractions. Parking is available (EUR 14/night): you pause outside in the busy street, double-parking is normal, to unload luggage and the hotel staff will then take your keys and whisk the car away to somewhere else -- give 20 minutes notice whenever you want it back. The hotel has a slightly older feel to it, but our room was spacious with a good balcony, although a small ensuite bathroom; the bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was very welcome. There was a very good choice of buffet options at breakfast. The rooftop pool is fairly compact and can be windy, but a blessing after a hot day of sightseeing!

Strong mould damage in room

Hotel was advertised as having a rooftop pool and rooftop bar available “Highlight: Outdoor pool available! Only 5% of properties offer this in Heraklion.” Both were NOT available.
We booked a twin room. The springs were easy to feel through the mattresses - so uncomfortable. They offered us to test 3 alternative rooms. The first had the same bed. The second had much better beds, but had a really bad mould smell in the room which couldn’t get rid of by opening the window, see the photo of the ceiling. The third room was a double bed that was also really hard and again springs were felt through the mattress.
We walked into town and found another hotel that had a rooftop bar and fresh rooms and left Capsis without staying. They even charged us the full days parking for 2 hours of parking.
Neither the hotel nor Hotels.com responded to our messages through the App.
We lost all the money for the stay, even though the hotel did not have the services advertised and stank of mould

Awful, cold, dirty, not worth the cheap price

The rooms were tiny, cold, infested with ants and other insects, no heating, dingy bathrooms, dingy rooms with worn down linens, and “king” beds were two uncomfortable twin beds next to each other with no gap cover. We hand a constant stream of ants coming out of the drain and other assort disgusting insects (see photos)

Very nice hotel within a 10 minute walk from the port or a 25 min Taxi ride from airport 14 Euro's.
Friendly staff, great room. Just a tip don't pay extra for a balcony. its not worth it.
Breakfast was fantastic, everything you could ask for in a breakfast.
The roof top swimming pool and staff was outstanding. Very surprised at the prices for food and drink. Wasn't overinflated at all, which is unusually.

Front desk people all very friendly and helpful. Valet parking very handy. We had a corner suite on the top floor that was the best room in the hotel so we were spoiled with a large suite, separate dining/living room and large bedroom and bathroom. Balcony wrapped around 2 sides. Shopping started a few steps out the door. This suite only had a shower in a tub which was high to step into. Not suitable for elderly or others with mobility problems. Perhaps ask if other rooms have a walk in shower. Have returned this hotel due to great front staff and location - very close to port- even walkable and not too far from airport.

Great home base in Heraklion

The location is excellent for catching the bus to Knossos, the museums, and the walking areas for tourists. Terrific breakfasts and the pool/pool bar situation is really nice. Check-in and -out was very smooth. The room cleaning was a little weak and one of our air conditioners wasn't really working well. Very quiet though for a busy area.

My stay at the Capsis Astoria was good. The check-in process was easy and the staff were very friendly. The room felt safe and was comfortable, despite smelling kind of funny. The room decor was outdated, but this didn’t bother us so much for a one night stay. The location was fabulous, easy to walk around everywhere and right in the centre of the city. Check out was also really easy, and the staff were very helpful in helping us get to the bus station, giving directions and providing a taxi.

The concierge was very nice, as was everyone in reception. Room was lovely, so was breakfast. Recommend everything but the crazy narrow streets if you are driving and trying to park. Save yourself the headache and pay for valet. Just stop in front of hotel and run in to reception with your car keys.

This is a good hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The roof top pool and restaurant was great. The morning breakfast buffet had lots of options to chose from. Overall the staff were friendly and helpful.

The location is very central and walkable. We were able to walk to the hotel from the ferry port in 15 minutes. Restaurants and shopping were just steps away. Buses and taxis are available right outside.

The only disappointment was the cleanliness of the rooms. They didn't do a very good job cleaning the room, especially the bathroom each day. For a high end hotel, the cleaning did not match the rest of the hotel. Having said that, I would consider staying there again because of all the other good things it had. I did enjoy my stay and overall it's a good hotel.

Location Location Location! This hotel is centrally located. Only 10 mins from the airport. We rented a car and went to both sides of the island. The staff was friendly and helpful. The valet service was great. The downside was that it took 20 mins to get the car from valet but that’s a small price to pay for not worrying about parking. The room was a great size but the bed was hard and not very comfortable. Overall it’s a good hotel and would recommend.

Stayed there for a night due to an early ferry the next days. Certainly not a 4 star hotel (although I wasn't expecting that from the photographs). They had some youth sports team at the hotel and it was insanely loud and they blocked off the gym for a few hours without informing us at check in. Pool was closed, rooms were dirty, shower was dirty. Good location though. Would not recommend.

It was in the middle of everywhere. The port and the Bus station are in walking distance. You will be in the middle of the shopping area. Not to mention the breakfast, excellent variety of food. However, some doors needs maintenance as some of entrance doors are not easy to open with the card key.

No hassles, friendly, honest and clean and comfortable rooms. And prime location. To be any closer to the Archeaological museum you’d have to rent out one of its burial amphorae.
