The hotel was clean and spacious but a bit far out from the old town (around a 45 minute walk). There are some restaurants along the walk across the shore towards the old town but options are limited. The hotel had closed their private beach when i went in October so this was a bit disappointing.The sauna and steam room in the spa was lovely and i had a spa treatment done which was very relaxing. Being October, there was no entertainment or anything as such for guests as the peak season had just ended.

A beautiful property with an amazing view of th bay and the surrounding mountains. Staff is excellent. Only reason im not giving a perfect 5 is that the balconies in the suites were not cleaned and maintained.

But overall lovely stay enjoyed every single day with the family.

Huma Kotor Hotel was good overall. Reception staff and staff at breakfast service was very helpful.
There was no milk for tea/ coffee in rooms - room service did not get it even when we requested.

Parking is expensive. €15 per day is too expensive. You may not get parking space in front of hotel. Very limited free parking. Our flat was stinking with drainage smell. Really bad one. They changed flat in same block but no luck. Smell was really bad. I won't stay in block 2. Please take care when joining main road. Very dangerous. I am not happy with smelly at all.

The property was not well marked on google maps so it took us longer than it should have to find it. The staff seemed disorganised and when we asked them for anything they appeared happy to help but I watched them make a sarcastic or dismissive expression on two occasions. We asked in advance (the day before) for breakfast boxes to be ready for 6:30am the morning we were leaving - sadly this was not done and I had to wait 20 minutes on them, 5 minutes after our taxi arrived. The breakfast box itself was ‘continental’ so contained two pieces of fruit, a couple of parties and boiled eggs, not clear on how hard that would be to prepare. This was our honeymoon so very disappointing for that reason, but even more so considering the price of the stay and the price of food and drinks - would not recommend.

food was not very good at the hotel, room service nor at the Virtu restaurant on the beach. If I’m honest it was more than poor and very overpriced considering the quality is below par. I would rate food ( excluding breakfast) as 1 star !
Such a shame as everything else at the hotel is first rate .

A lovely hotel which is split into separate buildings and so, if you are a group or family travelling together I would suggest being proactive about requesting the same building. We were allocated separate buildings.
The rooms also had different views and one room was very close to the main road and so the noise of heavy traffic was fairly consistent at night. Only one of our rooms had a balcony which was accessed via the shower - very strange.
The road is very busy and so not ideal to walk along to gain access to things like the pool.
The beach area is great with sun beds and umbrellas and a lovely section of sea to swim in with a spectacular view in all directions. Well worth relaxing here.
The pools were also great and breakfast had fairly good options.
You are 5 mins or so into the start of the Old Town by car. Taxis are available and prices varied from 6 euro to 20 being quoted with an average of 10 euro. There are also a number of lovely restaurants on the sea along the quieter road which splits the hotel from the beach which are walkable.
The Old Town is well worth spending time in but choose when you go in as the cruise ships can cause lots of congestion when they offload.

We had a fantastic stay. Upon arrival there was an issue with the hotels internet so they couldn’t check us in right away but they were very accommodating and held our luggage while we used the hotels private beach. The private beach is beautiful…quite possibly the best beach in the nearby area and you are treated very well during your visit.
The room is very big for two people with an amazing view (sea view). They could have done a better job cleaning the room thoroughly but nothing major to complain about.
The overall customer service was very good.
Location: it is a 5min drive from the old town BUT the traffic during the day (9am to 8pm) is very bad so do not make plans to do any driving around. We were fine to walk most of the time (the walk is beautiful and takes anywhere between 35mins to 50mins) with the exception of needing to get a taxi on our last day to head to airport (the 5min drive to get to old town took 1hour!)

I recommend it if you want an amazing view, private beach access and ok with doing some walking.

It was a wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff are very nice and honored any additional requests we had. Me and my son had a premium double room with balcony and it had amazing views of the Bay of Kotor. Breakfast buffet was fantastic and it’s complimentary. Pool in great condition. Gym and Spa are superb. Overall would highly recommend. We will certainly stay here again if we visited Montenegro.

Disappointing Honeymoon
We were excited for our honeymoon, but unfortunately, this hotel didn’t live up to expectations. The promised Montenegrin wine never arrived, and there were no special touches for our arrival. Housekeeping was inconsistent—water wasn’t replenished daily, the bed was missed one day, and towels weren’t replaced another. But one thing was for sure, they checked the mini bar everyday to charge you and get more money out of you.

The views and breakfast were great, but overall, the service was lackluster for a 5-star hotel. For what we paid, we expected much more, and it’s heartbreaking that our honeymoon didn’t meet the standard we were hoping for because we only get one honeymoon. I wouldn’t recommend.

The hotel itself was a 5 star. Great big rooms, comfortable beds, lovely pool with incredible views, a great private beach, two hotel dinner restaurants and some nice local restaurants to walk to for dinner too with a small convenience type store also nearby. The service was more a 3 star. It was a birthday trip and my partner had emailed the concierge at the hotel before the trip who had said via email that they had confirmed several things (a dinner reservation/cake/kayaking etc) when we arrived the reception said the concierge was on holiday and they did not know anything about the birthday things planned, so it appears the concierge did not book these things despite email confirmation from them. My partner had to ask at least 4 times to try and then book them again. It was difficult for something that should have been simple. One day the cleaning service only gave us 1 shower towel for 2 people. Another day the ice cream at the pool bar had all melted so no ice cream available from there. Another occasion the hot items at breakfast were cold (eggs, beans etc) On my birthday I got a nice card and small cake but this still took my partner asking many times. The hotel food and drink is pricey (€6 for a small coke). Every day they started playing music in the breakfast area at 7am before breakfast was even open, the noise woke me up every day and seemed unnecessary.
Overall a really lovely stay and an amazing holiday and area, just not a 5 star service.

The Huma Kotor Bay is an enigma; could be a fantastic 5-star hotel but lets itself down on many basics of customer care. Overall, we enjoyed the our time. It is peaceful hotel in a beautiful area with great views across the bay, in Dobrota approx. 40 mins walk from Kotor Old Town. The hotel looks great; modern and sophisticated, close to the water with comfortable rooms overlooking the bay, two small pools, a gym and spa area, and a large private beach club. Breakfast was also a pleasant, efficient experience with lots of choice and availability.However, major improvement is required in its housekeeping, beach club and overall customer care; Reception service is erratic, hotel staff openly argue and gossip, the general manager serves only VIP customers and staff are obviously undertrained. Beds are made poorly, rooms not cleaned daily and towels not regularly replaced. Our mattress was stained due to no protector. The beach club looks great with 100+ loungers and views across the bay, a swimming area, a bar/restaurant and lounger service but the team are inexperienced, with simple orders taking 30m to arrive. The club also allows lounger reservation by placing towels on behalf of guests. Mudra, their fine dining restaurant, is expensive and struggles for custom and so is given the hard sell by all staff which feels cheap. Other reviews indicate that Huma consistently struggles to address these basic issues; with proper training and attention to detail it could become great

Like other reviews stated, this place has so much potential. All employees were very courteous and friendly. The reception staff were great, as was a sweet young man who took out bags to the room. The views from the property are truly amazing. The breakfast was very good, with a very wide variety of choices, attentive staff and plentiful amounts. Unlike other reviews, we did not find breakfast chaotic at all, but rather a very pleasant part of our day.

The places that I would recommend improvement were at the beach bar, where unfortunately the caliber of service was much lower… we are really easy going, but multiple times our family sat there for 15 or more minutes without anyone coming over get our order going or even to say hello, despite four or five servers standing around. That was a little odd

The other place I would recommend big improvements is In housekeeping and the rooms in general. The beds were very comfortable, and It was obvious the room had been tidied up for our arrival, but just not deep cleaned… The floor had tons of hair on it, corners were dirty, etc. The living room furniture needed a cleaning due to stains. Not enough to make you want to leave but enough just to feel a little yucky.

Again, a great place to stay for the views, location, food and amenities... would recommend it noting you may need to be a little patient with certain aspects and less picky with some things

Disappointing Experience at HUMA Kotor

My family and I recently had the misfortune of staying at HUMA Kotor and was thoroughly unimpressed. The cleanliness was subpar, with dust and dirt visible throughout the lobby and our room. Despite daily housekeeping visits, the room was never truly clean.

The service was slow and inefficient, with long wait times for simple requests. The food was overpriced and didn't justify the cost. Breakfast items not replenished with basic things like tea bags finished.

What really made our stay unbearable was the front desk staff. Most of them seemed clueless and unfriendly.
However, two staff members stood out - Gul and Suresh. They were the only ones who knew what they were doing and went above and beyond to ensure a smooth stay. Their professionalism and kindness were a breath of fresh air amidst the chaos.

Unfortunately, their excellent service wasn't enough to redeem the hotel's overall poor performance. With some attention to cleanliness, service efficiency, and staff training, HUMA Kotor could improve significantly. As it stands, I wouldn't recommend it the only good thing was the views.

Very overpriced and not value for money. They cannot be classed as a boutique hotel and 5 star rating. More 3 star.

Recommendation: If you're unlucky enough to encounter Gul and Suresh, consider yourself fortunate. Hopefully, the hotel will take steps to address its issues and provide a better experience for future guests.

We stayed in Huma for 3 nights. It’s a modern hotel with all the facilities you would expect - nice decor, lifts, gym, private beach and a restaurant.

The rooms are oddly designed to always allow natural light in and you cannot prevent this with curtains. The rooms are spacious with big showers and double sinks which was great.

Breakfast was good with a nice spread of things available. The beach area is nice and big and there is no shortage of loungers which was nice. The drinks are quite pricey at the beach bar and hotel restaurant compared to surrounding places.

The hotel is a bit weirdly laid out in that the buildings don’t all connect. If your room is in two of the buildings you have to walk along the main road before going back in the hotel grounds to get to the beach, pool, gym or breakfast.

Location of hotel is good with access to the beach and cafe.
It's a short distance from the old town with a bus stop just outside the hotel which cost 1 Euro.
I had a room in the adjacent building in -1 level with a garden view.
Room was nice but some details showing signs of age and wear especially the bathroom.
Sauna facility was good.
I stayed in October so it wasn't too busy. Direct access to walk along the beach path to other restaurants. The beach access has a small jetty where you can be picked up by boat for a tour of the Kotor bay, booked with hotel reservation.

Lovely hotel. I rated it 4 out of 5 because of the staff at the private beach. Those men that run it could be more welcoming. I ordered food and my plates sat there for 30min after I was done eating. No one came back and asked if I wanted another drink. Very odd way of doing service considering this hotel is not cheap. But other than that hotel was very nice, modern, clean and the breakfast was lovely! The hotel has 2 pools which my husband enjoyed everyday Area is very close to public transport which we took to go to old town and Tivat! The first night we ate at the hotel but regretted it when we saw what was near and cheaper! Food at the hotel is small and expensive. We Walked down by the beach and there were lines of restaurants. We also booked a boat tour! Cheap and fun! Absolutely loved kotor ☺️ will be back!

Oh Boy! This guys skipped class they day they talked about what makes a Good Hotel a restful place.
1) Terrible Pillows - the worst, really bad. A good night requires good pillows, well not here. They don't have feather pillows not even decent ones. I had to buy pillos in town.
2) Horrible, unbereable \"music\" at the beach, Electronic noise for a night club filled with drugged-up teenagers NOT for a relaxing experience. HORRENDOUS.
3) Staff at Front desk Hates dealing wiht people but there she is dealing with people.

The hotel has the potential to be great and the staff are very friendly and welcoming but need to pay more attention to detail - plates and glasses not cleared quickly around the beach bar (wasps), cleaners didn’t restock coffee and bathmat in room. Beach bar app ordering didn’t work well and food was average.
However the room was large, breakfast good and the beach bar had great swim area and sunbeds. Some fantastic restaurants on the promenade.

This is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of Kotor with lovely staff and a classy feel. Bit of a walk from Kotor old town (40 minutes) but can get a taxi for €5-6. The hotel restaurants and drinks are expensive so B&B best option and then walk to the restaurants nearby for dinner. We loved it here.

Very nice hotel with very comfortable stay overall. This is area without too much natural beaches and this hotel created new one from scratch. This beach has obvious limits, but it’s maybe the best possible option in this
area. Pools are also very good and overall this could be reasonably affordable five star hotel in one of the most beautiful parts of Montenegro coast. Very young and very energetic and enthusiastic staff in this hotel, no problems during our stay.

The property was beautiful and the setting was one of the most beautiful in the world. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and motivated to do a good job. They would help you with anything. The pool was well situated and well kept. The beach was beautiful, but stone (vs. sand). The water was exceptionally clean and quite warm to swim in. Easy walk into the old town along the bay. Two things to consider…the area is more typical Eastern European (although, some of which is quite charming). Second, there remains a number of smokers, not overwhelming at hotel but in the surrounding communities.

Tho Huma Bay is a beautiful hotel and grounds, ourcroom was superb, we had classic room but the bed was huge and comfortable, AC was brilliant and everything you need. Breakfast was unusually lovely as a vegetarian, there was lots pf choice. The pool area is wow, the view to the sea. The beach area is gorgeous, comfy beds, umberellas. The only thing negative to say is the beach bar os expensive for drinks and the pebbled beach hurts your feet so wear beach shoes into the water. Quiet area but you can walk either side to a few restaurants on the front. All in all we loved it.

Fabulous hotel and location. Service can be a bit hit and miss but I get the feeling it’s a common theme in the region. Service wasn’t terrible, just shy of 5* standard, particularly when charging a premium for food and drink at the hotel. The property and surroundings are great, however they are getting the basics wrong which leads to an overall negative experience.

Checkin in was delayed by 30 mins. Our room clearly hadn’t been cleaned when we checked in, we needed to chase twice for it to be cleaned.

In fact any housekeeping request throughout our stay needed to be chased multiple times.

Breakfast in the mornings was chaotic, supplies regularly ran out and the staff whilst doing their best seemed ran off their feet.

Outside of this, the pool area, private beach and spa areas really are amazing. This quieter stretch near Kotor has some great restaurants nearby and is walkable to main check points.

If the hotel manages to sort out housekeeping, checkin and breakfast, they’re onto a winner!

The rooms weren't cleaned whilst there, they made the bed and gave us new towels but left the old towels. Water was never refilled. Manager was very rude when I told him I was not aware of how to use the air con unit. The restaurant within the hotel, Lola Braza was poor, it lacked atmosphere and the food was tasteless, my mums steak was tiny and very overcooked, it cost nearly 30 euros!

Gorgeous views. The beach is perfect. Staff are very friendly. Our room was lovely and big, cleaned every day of our stay which was nice. The old town is about 45 minutes walk but it’s an easy walk and the views are spectacular along the way. Reception will call you a taxi if you prefer, that’s about 6 euros and takes maybe 5-10 mins. Our stay was very relaxing and we’ll definitely be back.

Our overall experience is great. 4.5 stars as check-in was not as smooth as it should be (could have been better if they have planned ahead with anticipation of the situation - several guests from these ‘holidays’ companies all arrived at once). Their manager have to step in and made sure everyone gets to check in asap.
Otherwise, breakfast, facilities and customer service are remarkable. Would like to commend the staff for their willingness to help and support to the best of their abilities. High praise for front desk staff ‘Ana’ for her excellent communication.
Otherwise, we still have recommended the hotel to our friends.

Stayed for 5 nights, with a 3yo and 1yo. Room was great, service was great. Loved that there was a kids play room which kept them entertained when it rained. Guest relations manager went out of her way helping us re-organise our private boat tour due to the weather. Also arrange for the captain to pickup food and drink on route. Missed out on a 5/5 as we stayed 4 nights and the room wasn’t cleaned once which I thought for circa £220 per night was a little disappointing.
Plus watch out for the taxi’s - even the ones the hotel order for you are out to get you regarding charges.. ordered two taxi’s from reception for our friends and us to travel about half an hour up the bay… they were charged €40 - we got charged €70. Didn’t realise until after we sat down in the restaurant… poor form from the hotel recommending dodgy taxi services, spoke to others in the hotel and they had found the same so just go careful

Hotel was beautiful, the parking in the front was very convenient and free, although not guaranteed to be available during busier seasons, but I had no problem finding a spot each day. The grounds were beautiful and the scenery was as well. The staff were super kind and the ferragamo scented toiletries were so pleasant. I have no complaints. The homemade ice tea was some of the best ice tea I’ve ever had (mango my preference). Would definitely stay again

Breakfast buffet was very good, the staff were amazing in all areas of the hotel. The private beach was great and very relaxing. Room was a good size, but sometimes we missed the cleaning rounds as they came quite early. Overall a great experience and would come back.

This is a beautiful resort-style hotel that you can enjoy all day on luxurious private beach or by a shimmering blue-tiled infinity pool. The rooms are spacious with an exquisite panoramic view of Kotor Bay.

However, there are some signs of tiring in both the maintenace of the rooms (pealing shower sealing) and senior staff members.

For example, we chose this hotel to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We also decided to have our anniversary dinner at the hotel's Mudra Art Cuisine restaurant on the beach. We made reservations via the hotel's front desk. However, when we arrived all dressed up for our special occasion, we found the restaurant was closed!

When we requested to speak with the hotel manager on two occasions he was unavailable and never contacted us via the contact information we provided.

This is unacceptable for a hotel that positions itself as a 5-star hotel.

Other than management not showing much care for its guests the rest of the experience was exceptional and I would definitely consider staying there again.

Need to up their game!

The service at the hotel from reception and beach club definitely does not come with a smile. I found the staff quite cold/unfriendly which was off putting for a solo traveller. I had to wait for an hour on my room and then there was a mix up with other bookings with same surname. Bed sheets were stained - these were changed but not a great overall start.

Ahead of my stay I had asked to book a taxi transfer from Podgorica in advance and was told they don’t book taxis only transfers - what is the difference?! So I had to arrange myself. I also received no response to booking a spa treatment in advance.

Breakfast was good but the restaurant and beach club are ridiculously overpriced. I don’t mind paying more for the setting but prices were almost double compared with local restaurants and bars.

Great hotel.... could be excellent wirh some basic changes! Good location, big, well equipped rooms, lovely pool and private beach. Just need a bit of staff training as its a bit hit and miss on service. The deluxe room was perfect except for light blackout...there is nothing to block out the light coming in via the bathroom so you do tend to wake very early!

Really beautiful hotel and the beach was gorgeous with such good food. All of the staff there were great and really helpful. The room was lovely, such comfortable pillows and bed and the views from the whole hotel are stunning.

The area is gorgeous with the mountains, such good restaurants as well within 5-10mn walk.

The only things that can be improved is the breakfast food because the hot food is cold and they don’t refill water in the room, there are also no towels at the beach in the afternoon so you have to take from your room.

But regardless, next time I come to Kotor i’ll definitely stay here again.

Whoever rated this a 5-star should lose it’s job

The room was very spacious. King-sized bed, double sinks in the bathroom, very good water pressure in the shower and a living room area adjancent the balcony.
Two little details that irritated us about the room, though: two TVs responding simultaneously to same remote and no hand soap.

We would say that we experienced four (4) major setbacks :

1) the pools were emptied during our entire stay. As we had booked this hotel specifically for the pools, this was a major drawback.

2) the front desk staff. No responsiveness at all and no signs of caring for the satisfaction of guests (we interacted many times with them).

3) the breakfast was not only underwhelming food-wise, but very chaotic service-wise. It was not the typical buffet-style breakfast offer that was servced, but more of a “à la carte” offer, which was all-included. This, significantly slowed-down the service. On top of that, the wait staff was very disorganized and not efficient.

When it comes to the food iteslf, the quality left a lot te be desired for. Main example to give are the eggs benedict, which were served on a plain, untoasted hamburger bun, with a very small egg and a spoonful of hollandaise sauce. It is worthy of a 13-year-old cooking feat.

4) on our second day, the room cleaning crew did not visit our room. When we called reception, they promptly brought towels… but this is again, not to a 5-star hotel standard.

Fab stay - bonus private beach

I really loved my stay. The private beach is a real bonus. The beach club is very friendly and I could always get a lounger. The reception staff were very friendly. The hotel is a 35 minute walk to Kotor but taxis come very quickly and cost around €6. I found it a great base to explore Montenegro and somewhere great to come back to.

Although the exterior of the hotel and the facility was really nice, our actual stay was not very convenient.
The room was only clean with a complementary water bottle on the day we arrived. The remaining 4 days it was not clean at all. The cleaning staff are terrible. The floor and the shower and bathroom was never cleaned . It was dirty. The only thing she did was makes up the bed and place new towels.
Without cleaning anything.
The bathrobe was not replaced since day one and when I asked for another one it took an hour and three follow up calls to get it and when they brought it to me it has a brown make up stain on it.
It's very far from the city center and old town of kotor. A long walking distance more than 30 minutes. So location is not very convenient. And it's not easy to find a bus to downtown. You can check google map for the location.
When we asked them for complementary water for the next 3 days they refused and informed us to just buy it from the bar and we wanted it for the coffee in the room.
On our checkout day one of the staff was cleaning the hotel outside the window of our room with a very noisy device that's like a water spray at 6:30 in the morning and we woke up too early that day because of the noise. Not considerate to the guests with this noise at 6:30 am!!!
Overall terrible experience I would never recommend it or even consider going to that hotel again!

This was a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff were generally ok, breakfast waitress was lovely and the receptionists were helpful, but there were a few things not so good.
The room was not serviced during our stay. There was no coffee in the room, there was no milk available for the room. The handle on our balcony door was missing so we had to change room, but this took a long time trying to communicate because the staff were not good with english.
It felt like the hotel wanted our money but didn't want to enhance our stay.
It was walkable to other cafe bars and we had much more welcome from these bars and restaurants than we felt we had from our 5* hotel.

Reception is beautiful, staff were friendly. We had a great room with a view of the bay and it was nice and quiet. The room was lacking in coffee/tea. The restaurant onsite is very expensive! I would recommend dining offsite, but there are only a few options within walking distance.

Stayed for 4 nights, the staff were very friendly and accommodatinng, and the facilities are very good. it is a 35 minute walk to the old town which is worth seeing. Swimming in the sea was really nice and the water temperature was lovely. However a wedding was booked whilst we were there which meant the the infinity pool and area were out of bounds along with a beach reasturant including part of the beach. We spoke to the hotel staff who offered a good will gesture, but really i would expect All facilities to be available. I think they suffered with staffing as room service was not done one day.

My experience at Huma was outstanding from the moment i arrived until the very last second. The hotel is beautiful, its location convenient, the satff well trained, helpful, speaking perfect English and always smiling! Also, the restaurant of the hotel offers a unique culinary experience and its beach bar is not to miss. If you're visiting montenegro don't think twice before booking at Huma!

The property was beautiful and the facilities are excellent. Location was great, 30mins walk into the old town.

The only thing that let this property down was the treatment of guests. It was clear that if you were not staying in a suite or beach house you did not receive the same level of attention or welcoming which was a shame (even down to not getting a tour of the property!) We still very much enjoyed our stay.

It's not a 5 star hotel

The positives:
Most of the staffs are very nice, and the hotel does have a great view, beach and swimming pool and nice breakfast
Negatives:
Classic double bedroom is on Floor -1 with 2 sad windows, that makes me feel like living in a basement, and also probably the worst dining experience, they have a Japanese restaurant, we waited 2 hrs for our order which was like 12-15 pieces of sushi in total and it was way overpriced! The guy worked at the restaurant forgot to bring plates and chopsticks after 2 reminders, and when we were questioning about the bill he just walked away....

Ours was a 4-day stay, perfect location, only hotel with a private beach which was always kept clean and manned, quick service, reasonable prices. Beach party on Saturday had the best DJs ever! Decent crowd of people, yummy breakfasts. Do spend a bit more and definitely book a room w sea view, worth every penny! Can wholeheartedly recommend despite super slow room service :)

Potentially could be very good hotel but currently is far from 5 star standard.
We arrived 2 hours before check in and were told to come back after 3pm. Room was not ready when we arrived back after 3pm even though Reception was aware that were at the property.
Air conditioning stopped working on first night and took a good while to be fixed.
Bathroom fan had no cover and was on for good 5 mins each time bathroom was used. There was local water shortage one of the mornings but no water bottles were delivered to rooms and we had to ask for them! On top of that instant coffee was served for breakfast!!! During our 2 night stay, there were only 2 nespresso pods left and they were not replaced. No bottled water in rooms.
Incredibly overpriced food and drinks!
On upside their beach is perhaps one of the best around Kotor and has the best view! Some of the best restaurants in Kotor are nearby.
