Hotel Cattaro is fabulous! I love that it's in Old Towne Kotor and so convenient to restaurants and shopping.
Our ride back to Zagreb cancelled the night before our departure and I was panicked! The staff members were awesome, took the helm and ensured our transfer happened. I felt like hugging them!
Thank you for a wonderful stay. If I ever return to Kotor, I'll definitely stay at the Cattaro Hotel!

A class act in an amazing location.

Staff helped myself and I with all sorts of issues efficiently including advice on public transport etc. The hotel was beautiful in a traditional yet stately way. Very in keeping with the history and location of the place. Fantastic views over the bustling square from the room and the breakfast terrace although you couldn’t hear a sound with the windows closed. It was very hot when we went in August but the room was always beautifully cool and air conditioning fab. We really felt we were part of Kotor old town here. Loved it.

This hotel was fantastic!!!! Everything from the decor, both in the common areas and rooms. There are two restaurants one in the square, and one on top of the old city wall, offering excellent food. The location is ideal, right in the heart of old town. The staff went above and beyond with absolutely everything to ensure we had the best stay.
If I could give them more than five stars I would.

Nice hotel inside Old Kotor City. Biggest challenge was parking. No where to unload your luggage so we had to walk 20 minutes from where we found parking. I would have rather stayed at a place with convenient inexpensive parking and walked to Old Kotor City

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the middle of the old town. Service was excellent and the room was large looking over the old town square. They have a quant balcony to enjoy your breakfast on and enjoy the view. This is the only hotel that has city square balcony so it’s quite special. Breakfast was amazing and one of the loveliest dining areas if you want to stay out of the heat. Truly one of the nicest boutique hotels we’ve stayed in. Parking is off site but it’s arranged by reception so no hassle other than dragging luggage a few hundred meters.

Beware of town activities in the square out front

The hotel itself was fine - a little worse for the wear, but we were expecting that with the location and price point. If you want something elevated, this is probably not the place. But the staff was very sweet and friendly and welcoming.

What was the main reason for my poor review is that when we got there, staff gave us earplugs. There was going to be a concert in the town square right under our windows the next few evenings, and they figured we could use them. While I don’t expect the hotel to be able to influence town events, it would have been helpful to have known that it was happening and there could be a noise issue. We would have booked accommodations elsewhere accordingly. This way we were stuck with loud music that shook the building until well after midnight. The earplugs stood no chance.

While the hotel itself is fine, I would recommend checking whether there are town activities in the main square that could be noisy, prior to booking.

This hotel enables you to stay within the kotor walls. It is in a historic building with good room size. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good with some rotation of what was provided so you can try some different things if you stay more than one day. The access to parking means that you can leave the car and forget about it. Beware that in peak season at some points in the day there is a queue to get in. The room is right above one of the main squares but noise insulation is good. The only issue is that the air-conditioning is a bit old and struggles to keep the room cool.

The property has been well maintained with an elegant appearance. Very comfortable and a GREAT location to stroll through Old Town Kotor. On the flip side, we were told by two employees of the hotel that the breakfast was served at 7am. Then at about 7:15am we were told that the breakfast would be ready at 8am and that we were told wrong. At 8:15am there was still no hot breakfast ready and they did not know exactly how long it would take. By this time we had to get on the road and so for us there was NO breakfast. A little disappointing to what was otherwise a nice stay.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. DISHONEST HOTEL. Booked a night here during a visit to Kotor. Liked that they were seemingly convenient at the time as I knew we had a car and wanted inclusive parking. Hotel is within the old town walls. We had initially parked directly outside the entrance to the town but during check in, the girl told us that parking was free at a different lot further away if we just told them (lot attendant) we were staying at the hotel. So took some time to move the luggage and the car itself then walk back to the hotel. Following morning during check out, the lady tells us to hand over 15 euro for parking. When we showed them that their listing specifically states free offsite parking, they shrugged and made some bs excuse about how it meant “free parking on the streets”. If you visit the place, you would know there IS NO STREET PARKING WITHIN REASONABLE WALKING DISTANCE. I mean why would we have moved our car from paid parking lot to another?! Back and forth we tried to reason with them and the guy argued that in the 10 years they’ve been open, nobody's ever had this issue. Its ridiculous. 15 euro is really nothing, but its disgusting that a place would do this bait & switch on their customers. We travel A LOT and this hotel is by far one of the more disappointing ones. Not to mention everything in the hotel is drabby and old. Not expecting a 5 star hotel by any means, but the rooms were dingy, breakfast food was cold and old looking. Milk was lukewarm. Just blech.

You can’t beat the location. The hotel is literally part of the defensive wall around Kotor. The staff were so friendly and the breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

The staff is extremely attentive, helpful, polite, friendly and efficient.

We were staying there for 3 nights, and after a very warm welcome and quick check-in, were given a big room with a balcony overlooking the square below, but the A/C in the room was not cooling to our satisfaction.. they immediately had the maintenance guys check it.. but since we still didn’t feel satisfied after our first night in the room, they changed our room next day, which was much cooler and made our next two days of stay comfortable.

The hotel is very clean and very well-maintained. I was specially very happy with the hygiene standards, particularly of the bathrooms.

Breakfast was catered to our individual preferences.. the head waiter was polite and appeasing.

Assistance by front-desk staff for everything from local guidance to PCR testing to arranging for luggage cart to the parking lot.. was all impeccable!

Overall, I would give maximum points to staff for making it a lovely stay for us.

The location of hotel is also excellent : strategically very close to gate one.

We had an amazing stay at the Hotel Cattaro! The location cannot be beat. Beds were very comfortable, air conditioning worked well and WiFi signal was strong. The lobby and rooms are beautiful with rich woods and brocaded wallpaper. Every detail has been looked after.
Our room (209) was kept immaculate every day. Appreciated the tea/coffee maker for a late night hot drink before bed.
Ranko made sure we were well taken care of at breakfast each morning.
Extremely nice and helpful Reception Staff especially María.

This hotel is in a gorgeous historic building (part palace, part Napoleon’s theatre) right inside the old city walls.

It’s been beautifully renovated (it even has a gym) and in a perfect location. The terrace where breakfast is served provides a breathtaking view of the city and surrounding mountains.

But most memorable will be the impeccable service and hospitality.

Hotel Cattaro is a charming hotel in the heart of Kotor's Old Town. Given its historical past, the charming accents reminiscent of a bygone era glamor in the hotel's interior decoration are delightful. The hotel staff's customer service is top notch. We really enjoyed our brief one night stay. If there is any criticism, I would only say that perhaps for future renovation considerations, maybe change some of the furniture in the room so that they are not so sharp edged. For example, my husband and I each banged our leg twice on the edge of the bed, because the old-fashioned bed has sharp, jutted out edges hidden by the bedding right at the knee level that one wouldn't expect from modern day furniture. Also, hotel may wish to consider stricter enforcement of no smoking policy inside its rooms. Our room smelled faintly of smoke, in the bedding and in the carpet, indicative of guests smoking a while back.

ideal location just inside the sea gate with fantastic views, particularly from the breakfast table. really big room overlooking the square with comfy bed, squishy pillows, great bathroom with ideal shower water pressure, fantastic range (and not too expensive) in the mini bar, and I love the wooden shutters. given the three restaurants just below, you might think the rooms would be noisy, but shut the windows and you don't hear a thing. loved it.

What a treat it was staying here. A hotel built from three historic buildings combined, the decor was only topped by the service. A bit more expensive then some of the other accommodations we looked at, but the breakfast included probably made it cheaper! Our room was right over the square and I was worried about noise, but the soundproof windows kept it all out. Everything was top notch. If you are going to Kotor, treat yourself and stay here!

We LOVED Hotel Cattaro! Did not realize the hotel was within the old city (note: this means you can't drive right up to the hotel) but the hotel has discounted parking right around the corner that is easy enough and they explain it all when you check in. Also, had no idea that our dinner was also included in addition to breakfast! Not sure if there was an option NOT to opt in, but the rate was still amazingly low even with dinner included so no complaints here! Food was great, breakfast was at this absolutely adorable little outdoor area overlooking the plaza, and staff bent over backwards to accommodate us (we asked if they had computers for us to use and the guy at the front desk literally ran us up a laptop to our room to use as long as we needed). Legitimately baffled trying to figure out who would give this place one star - it was total luxury!

From start to finish this hotel and staff were amazing. It was clean and luxurious. Amazing location. Strong consistent wifi which is not always a given. Staff were very courteous and nothing was too much for them. The member of staff who did our airport transfers was courteous and conscientious in making sure we made it through customs in good time and planned our transfer. Breakfast was great and the roof top Terrace was fantastic. We left the hotel before breakfast was available and the staff made us packed meals to take with us without us asking for them. The room was very comfortable. Excellent working aircon too. Great resort and will definitely visit again soon.

We arrived in Kotor after a very long bus ride from Dubrovnik, Croatia. The hotel was a short taxi ride (we could have walked) from the bus station and right inside the old city walls. The hotel had an old world look with antique furniture and paintings everywhere of military men, famous explorers, and seriously long hallways. It did feel like we were in the game of Clue- waiting for the painting eyes to move. The room was comfortable enough, and we had a charming terrace with tables and chairs, which overlooked the plaza. The staff was efficient and friendly- though more reserved than people we met in Croatia. After a few days, we had to travel to the airport very early in the morning, and I asked the front desk man to call us a taxi. He informed us they would arrive in about 10 minutes. After fifteen minutes had gone by, I inquired where the taxi was, and he told us he would take us to meet it. We followed him out the city walls and past the taxi stand. He said it was a bit further and we ended up in a parking lot at HIS car. He told us he would drive us to the airport. What? Since he was an employee of the hotel, we got in- thought I was a bit nervous. We started talking about his family and parts of Montenegro we missed during the drive, which I recall is a tactical bonding device if you in a hostage situation. We were relieved to arrive at the airport, and after asking for 20 euros, he settled for 10- which is the correct rate. It was a strange ending for a fun trip.

Looks like a 4-star hotel but isn't.

Perfect location but old-fashioned hotel. Overpriced. It looks luxurious but feels cheap with little attention to room details like conveniently-located and sufficient number of electric plugs, no Western TV news channels, no towel hooks in the bathroom, not enough light and blankets which don't fit the bed. The breakfast is inferior to what you get elsewhere for less money. On their own these things didn't matter too much to us but the feeling of being over-charged is what remains. After all, if you want to stay in Stari Grad in Kotor there isn't much choice.

Best Coffee

Hotel Cattaro is set just within the walls of the old town of Kotor.

It is a comfortable and well decorated hotel - quite upmarket.

Perfect position for all tourist attractions.

Parking is self park so comes at an extra cost to the room rate.
Staff is on hand to assist with luggage so no problem at all really.

Our package included breakfast which was served on the terrace overlooking the main square and was delicious with the best coffee!
A full buffet from which to choose and eggs to order.
The restaurant manager was a treat - he was very helpful and ensured we had everything we wanted.
His English was perfect having worked and lived in London for a period.

Highly recommended!

Everything you need

Location, comfort, staff-all excellent. The addition iof an elevator would be nice, but ghen again, this is an historic building, and it may not be possible. However the staff is exveptional, friendly and capable and there are some very strong young men ready to help with luggage. This hotel has everything you need.

Nice Surprize in Kotor

I made a short stop for one night and I was really pleasantly surprized with this town and this hotel, warmly recommendable. TOwn itself is a real miracle and if you like to walk along the sea shore, you can walk even to Perast (almost).
