The hotel was absolutely amazing—perfectly located so that everything I wanted to see in Edinburgh was just a short walk away, yet far enough that it felt peaceful and relaxing. My room was phenomenal—comfortable, spacious, and beautifully appointed. The staff was incredibly attentive, especially as they kept an eye on my missing luggage and gave me regular updates. The restaurant was phenomenal as well—both the food and the service were top-notch. I could ask for nothing more. The atmosphere and décor were simply magnificent, and I can’t wait to stay here again on my next trip to Edinburgh.

Hotel itself was fine, great location, nice ambiance, friendly staff. Room was small but comfortable bed and great shower. What really let it down was the supposedly French restaurant. The food was bland and tasteless. The Mushroom starter no noticeable Madeira, sourdough not toasted. Prawn starter no Pastis. First Provençal fish stew served with uncooked fish, second totally bland. Beef Bourginion lacking any of the richness that this dish should have. Cheese board actually quite good but very small pieces. Very disappointing.

When we came to check in, there was no one at the desk for a long time and there were three other people waiting before us for service. The cleaning procedure was a surprise, I didn't know it cost extra just to have the room primped up. towels was not the issue, I don't require clean towels every day. But the one day we did request cleaning, we didn't get clean towels. this was nearly five days into our stay and we were going to be out overnight for a tour to the highlands.

Good: I stayed a junior sweet so the room has a good size. Bed mattress is not too firm not too soft, comfortable. Plenty of hot water to fill a very nice tub. The shower space is big, good water pressure. Convenient location.

Bad: the tub was very dirty when we moved in. I had to ask them to scrub it. AC/heater was acting weird, got hot and cold alternating between. Entry way is big and spacious in the room but kind of waste of spaces. No dining area in the room . Toilet configuration is strange - heater is right front of toilet so couldn’t stretch legs.

This is an ideal place to visit the Old Town and a place to stay for University of Edinburgh graduation ceremonies being close to McEwan Hall. Note that no parking on site, though a q park is 5-10 mins walk.

My stay at Hotel du Vin was lovely! I was exhausted from my train journey from London, and the staff was so caring and got me my room right away. Staff remembered my first name throughout my stay, and always greeted me and asked me if I needed anything whenever I walked by the front desk.
Great location - I walked A LOT, and was able to walk to all the sights I wanted to see. Close to a lot of yummy food and gelato, as well as shops galore!
I recommend getting the included breakfast, it was a peaceful and very tasty way to start the day. Thank you for the amazing stay!

Excellent hotel in a great location. Easy walk to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Princes Street.

We arrived at the hotel very early, and they took care of our luggage and us, and got us a lovely cup of tea. Just the ticket after a long haul flight. The staff were so friendly, courteous, and efficient. The room was lovely, with excellent amenities, including an iron and ironing board. Also a nice kettle, Scottish breakfast tea, and lovely Scottish biscuits.

As an excellent bonus, the restaurant is simply outstanding. Delicious food, excellent wine, and impeccable service. All at quite reasonable prices, considering what you get.

Finally, a really classy bar with, of course, an amazing selection of single malt whisky, and some nice fairly private seating areas.

He went over and above to make sure all our needs were met. We had to leave at 4am to catch our flight, and he made sure we had breakfast ready for us before we left. Could not be happier, and highly recommend this hotel!

Disappointing room size

We were disappointed as hotel was recommended by friends. Had booked over 6 months prior and was put in a tiny room for 5 nights! We didnt complain at the time but they shouldve offered that there were larger rooms at the same rate. Also there were not enough outlets for charging in the room and none by the bed! We complained at the end and the manager apologized and gave a partial refund. But still, this wasn't what we had expected for a very expensive rate booked far in advance. It impacted our visit to Edinburgh.
