I stayed in this hotel for one week in total. It is simply the best hotel. Great location, the metro Line #9 is just next to the hotel. The metro lines #11 (to the airport) and #12 are within walking distance. Breakfast is a feast, including tons of both Chinese and western food. Room is clean, spacious, comfortable and quiet. The lobby is like a palace. Hotel staff are very kind. A lot of good restaurants are close by. This is going to be my home hotel every time I visit Shen Zhen.

While this is a 20 year old hotel, the condition is excellent and exactly what you expect from a 4 star property. The staff are genuinely caring and helpful, and the management included. And the breakfast is absolutely amazing. I come to Shenzhen often and this will now be my go to hotel. There’s an overwhelming choice of dining and shopping and other services within walking distance. The place is quiet and clean and a real gem.

The Hotel is good and the rooms are comfortable (soft beds, variety of pillows). The location in Nanshan is good and convenient to shops and the subway station. The hotel is well maintained but a little dated and for this reason a little more expensive than it should be.

Nashan district. 15 min to airport by subway.

Convenient for my purposes. Quiet rooms. Adequate gym and pool. Breakfast expensive but cheaper to buy at reception night before. Plenty of shopping and restaurants within 10 to 20 min walk. Many font desk staff speak almost no English. Look for bellboy and checkin staff who are better trained. Could not find hotel phone directory and had to go through switchboard each time.

A great hotel with nice room

Usually stay in other hotels, but this time tried this one with 2 nights, had a good experience with the room. Room with comfortable bed, useful furniture, comfortable sofa facing the TV, lots of channels. Place is clean. Good spread of breakfast but didn't see lots of people. Close to amenities, walking distance to nice restaurants and a convenient store from the back door near lift. Overall a world class holiday inn, with everything a great holiday inn should have.

First time staying at the Holiday Inn Donghua and what a wonderful experience!
Was offered a complimentary room upgrade and breakfast, also received a birthday cake and even birthday decorations in the room. That was a very nice touch!
The breakfast was fabulous with a wide range of food on offer every morning. The buffet dinner on the weekend was also top class.
The staff was very courteous and professional. Special thank you goes to Jason, the hotel Manager and Kitty at the front desk. Also to Lily and Gary at the Viu Cafe.

How should I rate this hotel for SERVICE?

there is no place to go within walking distance. the buffet dinner is ok for the price.
I emailed the hotel on April 12 for the correct address in Chinese so I can use it to show to the local cab driver. I stayed in the hotel on April 17th and 18th. I did NOT received a response from the hotel until April 29th!!!
So, how should I rate this hotel for SERVICE?

I booked the hotel with a big diacount at expedia website. Cause that decide to try.

The hotel is located 15/20min to the airport, w/o trafics. And sometimes it is really bad in Shenzhen.

Room is confortable and the shower is good.
Towels were quite old.
Breakfast buffet give u hundred of options between chinese and continental foods.
It has a subway 15 min walking There is not any big shopping area close!

This hotel is a little bit old, maybe built 10 or 15 years ago, but it is a very well-kept hotel and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I would add that I was impressed with staff honesty after I failed to close my room safe after a hasty early morning departure. Rooms are clean and quiet, acceptable for business or family stays. I would add the single king-bed room is better than a twin-bed room, extra space and living area. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Friendly staff, very helpful

Being unable to read or write Chinese can be challenging when visting China, but not if you stay at this hotel as most of the staff spreak English and can assist you with directions and write them in Chinese for you to give to the taxi driver. Make sure you carry the hotel card with you when going out so easy to show taxi drivers to get you back to the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful and I recommend upgrading to use the lounge as good value for money.

This hotel for the price was great. Ten minutes away is Sea World Shekou where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. The room was comfortable and the breakfast buffet had many western and Chinese choices. The machines in the gym need fixing, most were broken.

Overall a pretty good choice if you're staying in Nanshan district. The hotel is close to shopping centers and restaurants, and easy to get taxi to go to the seaside. Only complaint I have is that the room was quite small for Chinese standards, also bathoom is quite small.

Superb concierge service!

This was my first trip to China. I had been trying to purchase concert tickets from the United States and hit one road block after another until I called the Holiday Inn Shenzhen, Donghua where I had made my reservation. I asked for the concierge. From that moment, I felt like I had a friend in China. The concierge expertly obtained all three tickets exactly as I requested with lightning speed. He stayed in constant communication with me sending me seating charts and images of the tickets. It was unbelievable to me the time and energy that he put into helping me obtain these particular tickets.

And when I arrived in Shenzhen, I felt so welcome. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The concierge even went so far as to put concert posters in my room! I was so tired after the long flight from Newark.....I felt so far from home traveling alone....and yet I felt welcome - like I was in a place I belonged, familiar and with friends. Everyone seemed to know who I was...like they were expecting me!

The hotel is ultra-modern, immaculate – beautiful from floor to ceiling. The room was so comfortable. Spectacular views from the 23rd floor, wonderful small details like a large umbrella ready to use in the closet, and a huge fluffy bed that made me feel like I was sleeping on a cloud.

I would honestly consider returning to Shenzhen just to stay at this hotel. It was that enjoyable. A welcoming oasis for US travelers in China.

I would recommend this hotel if you need to be in that area.....
Ok.. so it smells amazing when you walk into this hotel.. they copied the W and it smells great. The restaurants and lobby / bar areas are nice and clean. Everyone is friendly.

Rooms are a decent size, bigger than the holiday inn at luohu.

What i didnt like is supposedly this hotel is \"new\" ... well its not new.... it used to be something else im assuming... and it has the old stuff in the bathroom...the hair dryer was from 1980 and my scale in the bathroom was from 1970 probably. They could have redone the bathroom and updated it with new fixtures and countertops etc....

It was pretty clean though.... this one has no free breakfast like the luohu one.... they charge you for everything it seems.. and they try and get you to upgrade to a better room when you check in.

Oh yeah and dry cleaning and laundry and food is OUTRAGEOUSLY priced for china... so you can walk out and there is a dry cleaner and many restaurants to choose from that are good.
