Amazing stat from start to finish. The hotel is in a great location, so easy to get to and central to bus and train connections. The check in and check out process was smooth with friendly receptionists - they even gave us a list of recommended hotels for dinner that night based on what we fancied. The rooms were so lovely though sound from corridors from others' conversations were quite loud but didn't bother us too much as it stopped pretty quickly. The beds were noisy/squeaky but super comfy and the bathroom was spacious and clean, rooms were modern and it was a very pleasant stay. We requested a breakfast box for one day as we couldn't have breakfast due to an excursion/early start - they sorted this for us perfectly and it was really well equipped - lasted us a long time. The breakfast buffet was also really good I was pleasantly surprised - the eating area was peaceful and nice to eat in. Finally on our last day the receptionist gave us great advice to go to the very first bus stop to get the bus to the airport so we don't miss it and it worked out perfectly! Thank you for a lovely stay

We have stayed at this hotel at least six times but feel standards have slipped. A feeling of being understaffed and maintaince neglected. E.g. one of the lifts was out of order for a week. First room allocated the inside door handle dropped off
So we had to he moved although receptoon knew about the problem. Other things noted.
A pity because the hotel position is excellent for visitors to the beautiful city, but may choose a diffent hotel next time.

Good hotel at a great price but improvement needed

For the price this is a good hotel and the location is great. Cleaning staff are fine. Front desk -- good but when a couple staying for 4 nights asked for more hangers (as there were only 6 in the room) the response was \"I will see if we have some in the hotel\" -- we never got any more hangers! What was really unexpected was breakfast -- most hotels can figure out how to do a buffet breakfast. The buffet breakfast room was chaotic with a staff that seems oblivious. More than once there were no plates or no utensils in the buffet area. There were tables that needed to be cleared (as the room is full and people are looking to find a seat). And the arrangement -- yogurts in a corner squeezed in near the coffee machine and the hot food -- so that you couldn't get to it. Only one coffee machine (one morning I was in the line for 8 minutes as 10 people were in line to get coffee). I could go on but the point is that the breakfast room has to operate better. It gets the day off to a bad start to encounter such disorder.

Atrocious breakfast service

The hotel is centrally placed for the airport, buses and station, the rooms are spacious, but looking dated.
However the hotel really fell down o breakfast, we stayed six nights and for four of those there was only one coffee machine working leading to long queues and on o e day both machines were broken.
The jitchen didn’t seem to understand rhat as it.was Grand Prix weekend the hotel was super busy and they had run put of bread, yoghurts abd had virtually no hot food available on one day.
The lady running the front of house was amazing and tried to keep on top of everything but she was badly let down by everyone else and in all honestly the breakfast issue means I'd be very unlikely to stay there again as €11.50 per peraon for brwakfast was wasted

The property feels tired and in need of a refresh. Our room had peeling paint and water damage. The chords had been broken from the blinds and left on the windowsill. There is no longer a bar. The loos at reception were broken when we were there. The staff do seem to work very hard to make folks feel welcome. They cannot be faulted but this is really only a 3* property at best.

Good stay marred by poor breakfast

Front desk was very friendly and helpful. However the breakfast left much to be desired. It was obviously understaffed. On the first day, the coffee machine ran out of milk, water and coffee. No one attended to it for 20 mins. While everyone was waiting for coffee.
Second day which was a Sunday and breakfast till 10.30am. Came down at 9.30am, there were not enough tables as they weren’t cleared. And worse, no food was left. After several customers asked, some bread and scrambled eggs were provided. That’s all. Nothing else.
Do yourself a favour. Skip the breakfast and go 4 doors down, they served much better stuff there.

Flight arrived from Bergamo airport past midnight, only 10 mins to get an Uber to the hotel but it is on the pricey side €42 for a short journey but considering not having to drag my luggage all the way to Milan, that was an ideal solution. The hotel staff was very helpful with late check in. Room was extremely spacious and modern. Perfect temperature without me having to adjust the air conditioning. Comfy bed and not too noisy despite being on the second floor. Upon checking out and before heading to the station for my train, I could really benefit from the use of restroom but they have not got one available at the lobby area nor the restaurant area, according to staff, it is under renovations which is a bit of shame as this has let down the score slightly. Would have love to use their spa facilities next time when I visit again. Overall, really lovely stay and close proximity to central Bergamo.

The hotel was very near to the airport bus so it was very easy to get from the airport. As it is on a direct bus route to the Citta Alta access to there was easy. Staff were helpful; we were able to store our luggage due to a late flight and to borrow umbrellas. We will stay again.

Great place to stay. Close to the train station. Restaurant Vox in the same building as the hotel was phenomenal. Older building but they maintained it well and kept it very clean.

Only complaint was that the air conditioning only worked if a window was open - that may have been user error but that was the only way we could figure it out. Additionally, the windows have no screens (perhaps that’s a European thing) so we were scared to let bugs in if the windows were left open

The hotel location is excellent - on the airport bus route and close to the railway station if you plan excursions to Brescia for example. It’s on a street with a number of restaurants but also has the option of room service. The rooms are modern and spacious, comfortable and very clean. Numerous options for breakfast - everything you could want in the excellent buffet. I would recommend the hotel without reservation talking about the hotel alone. However it is worth knowing that there is a space across the road 100 metres away which for one day during my stay had an open air rock concert from about 9pm to midnight. The hotel’s double glazing did not keep out the thumping bass and my room was on that side of the hotel. It’s not obvious when those evening rock concerts are going to happen so I suggest specifying a room away from the main road. None of this is the hotel’s fault but it was frustrating for one night not knowing when the music would stop.

Great hotel let down by housekeeping

Mercure Bergamo was a nice hotel in a great location near the train station/airport bus stops with an easy walk to the funicular to Citta Alta.
The hotel itself and the room was very clean on arrival. However, on day 2, the maid only left 1 bath towel for 2 people(none in any drawers - we checked) resulting in us having to share. The toilet paper wasnt replenished either. On day 3, we arrived back in the evening to find there had been no maid service at all that day so I had to go to reception to ask for towels/toilet paper. I was asked if I had left the Do Not Disturb sign on the door by mistake! (which we hadn't) which made me feel questioned rather than given an apology for an uncleaned room.
The room itself was modern, spacious, tastefully decorated with a huge wall mounted tv, comfy bed & pillows and nice smelling toiletries. The hand and bidet towels weren't towelling though, more like table napkins which was strange. I think this hotel is having a towel shortage!
Breakfast was good with a varied choice. However, there was no toaster available to toast bread - maybe this is an Italian thing. The hot section could have been better, the bacon looked a bit grey although good on the last morning, the sausages were hot dog type and the beans were dry beans without a sauce. I had read reviews to say that breakfast was cramped and the buffet not replenished but we did not experience this.
Overall, a few minor issues in a decent hotel and would return/recommend

A perfectly located hotel if, like me, you arrive in Bergamo quite late and want the convenience of a decent place to stay close to the bus and train stations. My room was spacious and comfortable, although it was a little “tired”. If you’re staying in Bergamo or heading onto Milan or another place then this hotel is a great choice.

This is my go to place every time I fly in to Bergamo. For a short break it’s a great location. Close to the train station and close enough to get to the Citta Alta on foot. For the less energetic there is a good bus service. It’s clean, comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Excellent choice at breakfast.

Don't accept any of the 001-004 rooms. They are in the back of the house, literally on top of a bank and so noisy it seems you sleep on the side of the road. Strong window and floor insulation needed to be guest acceptable. For 160 euro/night uou get way better than that. Breakfast supplies are slow and no cappuccino available on the machine. Poor experience, probably the worse Mercure I've ever been

The hotel was clean, comfortable, close to the train and down town. The beds were very comfortable, but did not have top sheets, only the duvets, which for me are too warm. The only odd thing was the face towels were cloth dishtowels, not the fluffy towels I'm used to. The breakfast buffet was very good, if you like a big breakfast, which I normally don't have - but it was worth the money.

This hotel has had a makeover since we last stayed there. Rooms and bathrooms have been updated and look really well. New carpets in the hallways and public areas make a huge difference.
Breakfast room a bit small and crowded for the number using it especially around the buffet area. A second coffee machine is essential as long queues built up.

Overall very nice hotel. We liked the location with a lot of options for restaurants and shops. We had issues with AC. Although weather was 3-10 Celsius, we could not bring temperature in the room below 25Celsius. AC control was non operational and kept the room in heating mode, likely wasting lot of energy. In room Refrigerator was small and just refreshing, not cooling. Breakfast was great with a lot of options and very yummy. Room service was very poor - we do not recommend pizzas

We love this hotel. It is so convenient to shopping, cafes, and sights, but also close enough to walk to the main train station and where the airport bus stops.
The rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the breakfast room is classy. Breakfast is always very nice, with lots of selection. But, the best thing- by far- is that the staff are so courteous and efficient, and quick with a smile and to address any issues that might arise. Bravo!!

This hotel has been updated since our last stay and rooms and corridors are much more attractive and brighter. Carpets have been replaced and walls painted .
Breakfast is adequate.
Our problem this time was poor Wi-Fi. We had to get a special code from reception, but even then it only worked intermittently, sometimes not at all.

Tried to check in and hotel was closed due to a fire 4 days earlier and I wasn’t informed until I turned up at the door and then got a call from hotels.com to inform me not great comms . Eventually managed to get in for my last as I wasn’t happy with alternate hotel and the carpet and a chair really dirty , also had to wait about 2 hours to check in when I was told previous day just come down and you will get checked in really angry about my stay in bergamo and for a special birthday stay too ruined the holiday .

Had to ask for a change of room as the first one had broken window glass and a broken and unusable curtain in front of it. Not good! We have stayed here many times before but were disappointed this time . We felt that the hotel needed a complete makeover. The corridor carpet on Floor 4 was stained and dirty looking and the bathroom in Room 414 had a nauseating smell. We reported this and there was some improvement but it still wasn’t great. Breakfast was ok, but not enough staff on duty to clear tables. Empty hand sanitizers were not refilled even when staff were reminded about this.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. It’s walking distance to the pedestrian zone and restaurants. There are also excellent places to have breakfast nearby. There is a covered parking place right next to the hotel but you have to pay for it.

Check-in was a disaster as the receptionist was unable to find the booking for one of the rooms we have reserved.

Overall, it’s an acceptable choice if you want to stay inside Bergamo.

The hotel was nice, but the airconditioning was only super hot or not on at all (even when I turned it down to 5C, it was boiling), so either you had to sleep in a sauna or an icebox. The room was pretty clean but for someone who is sensitive to strong smells, I felt like they used very strong cleaning products, and that the bathroom had some black growth on the wall. However, this is nitpicking as the hotel was nice otherwise and I know I'm a bit sensitive to hygiene issues...

OK, not good value for money!

Excellent location. Easy transit to/from Airport & close to Train Station. BUT, the rooms are small, not so comfortable. Not good value for money. Rooms are quite expensive for the quality!!

It is centrally located in a very good area with plenty of Restaurants. Little more than a km to Citta Alta Funicular. Close to the train station as well. Room was clean. Bed was rough and not very comfortable. TV Remote turn on/off button was not functional so I had to get off from the Bed all the time. Some lampshades were broken and leaning towards the wall. Picture on the wall was spookie. A nice scenery picture would be prefered.

Convenient location

The hotel is conveniently located super close to the train station. Breakfast was not great but rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable.
