Very comfortable, with a good off-season price. Two issues: 1) Its in an isolated area and their bar & grill is not open Sunday and Monday. 2) No outlet near the table, which made working on my computer more difficult.

I guess we asked for trouble by booking with hotels.com .we got a non view room, but good will opportunity was missed.
Our first room 111,had a problem with the toilet leaking around the base after flushing.
The parking lot was watery and instead of putting the floor mat in front of the door, it was put away from the door. Mud and water came in with us. On a wood floor that was bad. Our 2nd room was better. 112 had carpet and a much slower leak.
UNFORTUNATELY the a/c unit was very loud and we unplugged it when shutting it off did not work.
Overall an OK place, seems to be geared to winter.
BTW the restaurant and bar are closed Sunday and Monday

The room was very clean. Like Tony Soprano preparing for the FBI type of clean. The food and drinks in the pub were AMAZING. 10/10 the shrimp and grits were to die for. Our waitress was adorable. The bed was so comfy, lots of pillows. Good water pressure and hot water. The front desk girl was helpful and friendly. We definitely intend on returning.

The staff was nice, but the room was just OK. The coffee maker was full of old water and the pot was dirty. The toilet wasn't secure to the floor. The beds were pretty darn old, and so were the comforters. The room was mostly clean, but you could tell everything had been used for years. I'm ok with a dated room, even find it nostalgic, but this place was pretty worn out. The dresser was missing the finish all the way across the bottom from years of use. The parking lot was pretty rough. I honestly wish the friendly staff well, but I will avoid this place in the future.

Booked this room last minute when weather forced me to change my plans. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but the place is extremely tired and run-down. You can tell this is where people party during the ski season. Carpets were very worn and questionably clean. While the major areas (toilet, bed) were clean enough, there was hair and dust on the floors along with holes and scuff marks on the walls. Room furniture is old and worn out, but functional. The bed was hard but served its purpose. I wish I would have spent the $30-40 additional dollars for a better room at a hotel.

I prefer staying at smaller places like this and for the price you can’t beat it for a nights stay when traveling. I just wish we would have made it before the restaurant closed for the night! Had a great meal the last time through. Not my 1st time here, and this time I had one of the updated rooms. Just wish they accepted pets.

We like the price and the cleanliness and the comfort of the bed. I often wake at a hotel with sore back and shoulders, but not at Skyline! The downside is that people can be heard outside your door, but that is more on people than on the lodge. It would seem after 10pm you might keep your voices down! We will stay again!!

We have stayed at Skyline Lodge several times over the last few years. We have always found the rooms to be clean. We love the lake on the property and really enjoy having a lakeview room if possible. There are picnic tables, benches and a big deck outside of the pub to sit and enjoy the view and the quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are prepackaged muffins and other goodies for a quick breakfast set out in the lobby. It's nice to have Rich & Ernie's Pub connected to the hotel. I just wish they were open more during the week. The food has always been good. Our only concerns with Skline are the driveway & parking lot are in need of of repaving. There are many potholes on the driveway going in. Also, the mattresses have been fine, but some of the bedframes seem old and are creaky and wobbly. We love the Skyline Lodge and will continue to stay there whenever we're traveling through beautiful West Virginia.

Room was clean, shower was hot, everything worked as expected. If you can get a room on the back, the view is worth more than the price.

We arrived and found that the restaurant and bar were going to be closed for the duration of our stay. This is a remote area, so we had to drive to locate any food or drink. We had to change rooms several times, as we wanted a room on the lakeside and had to upgrade to a handicap room, due to the toilets being so low to the ground in the regular rooms. Neither of us are handicapped, but we are in our 70's. The room was fine and the beds were super comfortable! We spent the better part of our afternoons and evenings just sitting and looking at the wonderful lake, the chipmunks, and all the birds. The only drawback to the serenity is that I-77 is just on the other side of the hill and all the noise just spoils it. We would stay there again.

Where do I start? Staff was great they couldn’t have been any nicer. The road to the property is so rutted with potholes had to drive in the grass. Boxsprings were stained, one bed the frame was almost broke and mattress had large dip in center. Coffee pot was filthy and warming plate was rusty! The tub in the bathroom still had hair in it, the one wall of the shower had a hole plugged with what looked like a wad of chewed bubble gum ( yes I know it was silicone of some kind but the plug job was terrible). The ac in the room and mini fridge kept us and our drinks very cold.

Every time I've stayed here, I've always had a clean, comfortable room and the front desk staff has always been friendly and helpful. Skyline Lodge is just a few minutes (maybe 3 or 4) away from the interstate exit, so the location is perfect.

Hotels.com had the place rated at 8.6, Excellent. This place was not that place. At least it was under $80. It is a circa 1960-1970s two story motel common for that time. Pros - friendly staff, hot water, good shower pressure. Cons - physical condition of the property. The steps were grated metal plates secured on each side. A couple were a little loose, shifting when you stepped on them. There were little silver hooks at the top and bottom that could grab at you, particularly if you fell. The side rails were old lumber, rough and hard to hold, felt like you would find a splinter. The most unsafe part was the top face board was loose, only held on by a failing strip of carpet. Other than these safety issues, the room had the normal problems of that era: repairs around the bathroom, limited plugs and lighting. Price was decent and matched the condition, except for the safety issues. Rating should have been in about a 6, definitely not 8.6.

I was on the first floor corner. Lake view. Very quiet. Lights switches are weird. Hard to find, no light switch when you first walk in. Have to use lamps in the dark. Clean. This could have possibly been an amazing getaway if it was at a different Day of the week. Unfortunately it was like a blizzard when we got there with snow already on the ground from the night before. Since the reviews said it had a wonderful view and scenic area, as well as an indoor fireplace in the lobby, and a bar restaurant we figured how could we go wrong. Upon arrival we found the restaurant and bar were closed on Sundays and Mondays so that was a letdown. It was a Monday and we were driving back to Pittsburgh from Miami and we were looking forward to a fun evening. Not a big deal though, we had a bottle of rum and vodka in the vehicle from our vacation that we had purchased at the duty free shop on the ship. So I asked where we can get ice and she said they don't have ice buckets but we can go down to the gas station and buy ice. We figured not a big deal, since the restaurant was closed anyway, we would go down to the gas station where there's a godfather's Pizza and we could get dinner there. So off we went to buy dinner for later and a bag of ice which I had to leave in our bathroom sink throughout the evening because there were no buckets to put the ice in. Makes me wonder why did I have to buy a bag of ice and still not have a bucket? I also asked the woman in the lobby if they light the fire in the fireplace so we could sit there and enjoy it. She said she didn't know if she would because it's a pain to keep lit. So we sat in the room and scrolled on our phones.

Staff was incredibly helpful, from recommendations for dinner and places open late to weather advice. Pasteurized and coffee in the lobby every morning. The lobby seems recently renovated and very clean. The rooms are much older- seem clean except for the floors- which were impossible because the door jam had such a gap that entire leaves could blow in (really cold with the snow!) lots of extra blankets and things already in the room. All the linens (towels, blankets,bedsheets) had tears and several lights didn’t work, but nothing unsafe. Just needs some updates and TLC tbh.

The floor was hard, cold and dirty…. It was clearly not swept bc it left the bottoms of our feet looking and feeling disgusting. Very noisy -could hear all of the screaming and banging from people outside of our room all night. No warning of construction going on to fix roof, so woke up to sounds of hammering and other loud equipment and voices. Door knob only locks from the outside with a key, but no way to adjust lock from inside. There is a latch lock on inside though able to still crack door open. Beds are extremely worn down and squeaky.
We booked two nights but ended up checking out early and driving 3 hours home instead of staying a second night.

To make your stay the best it can be, you will need to bring your own clothes hangers, facial tissues, skin lotion, and alarm clock. The (prepackaged) breakfast muffins and pastries are very tasty. The in-room coffee maker was not in good condition (looks, clean). Mostly due to prior occupants. The table in the room was rather wobbly (single pedestal style) due to prior occupants.

After a full cold day of skiing it is very annoying and disappointing to come to the hotel room dreaming about a hot shower and get no hot water at all for 2 days.The staff said that it is because everyone is taking showers at the same time, but we had no hot water at any time during the day or night.Other than that, we were very happy with the hotel.
