Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and welcoming. we asked if a late check out was possible and they agreed, free of charge. Outdoor area was lovely, with a lovely pool. The hotel is licensed with a good range of drinks available.

The view from the room was incredibly beautiful.

Overall the hotel was good with a variety of places to eat at the hotel and nearby.

Waterfront hotel with sea view, including from breakfast patio. Private section on the beach has towels, chairs. Nice pool but very windy. Very confusing layout of room numbers. Got lost twice because odd numbered and even numbered rooms are in different wings, but directions on signs are ranges. Spa drove me crazy - said would accept dollars and then refused a $20 bill because it was \"too old.\"

This is a 1 star hotel

The rooms are very outdated. The AC was not working, we asked them to come to fix it and nothing was done. The breakfast is very basic. The gym is one of the worst gym I’ve seen in a hotel. And the service is pretty bad. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

No air conditioning throughout the hotel nor did the fans in the rooms work. Was not informed of this at check in and was told ‘that is how things work in Morocco during the winter’ on March 31. Had to book another hotel due to medical condition and walk a mile down the street for acceptable accommodations.

I think its important to note that this hotel has a five star rating. When you have this rating i think its fair to be critical of things that i would otherwise not comment on.

Cons: the pool needed a clean (there was green slime on some of the walls. Some of the matress beds by the pool were covered in bird poo for days on end. Somebody left a plate and coffee mug at the pool bar and it stayed there for days showing nobody was walking round and checking at the pool. A few of the complimentary soaps and shampoos in the shower were empty when we got there, when i asked at reception for them to be refilled they filled it with a very small amount, im guessing they are afraid of guests in a 5* hotel stealing moisturiser which is fine but it leaves a bit.of.a sour taste in my mouth to be treated like a criminal. The tv in the room didnt work as it hadnt been tuned.

Pro: pool was nice tempature and gets the sun pretty much all day. the staff were great and attentive and helpful and spoke many languages (in particular a porter from senegal whos name i didnt catch was amazing). It has a bar with football on and they have music there too. The room was clean and spacious.

Kitchen waiting staff need management

The hotel lobby is very splendid and the reception services very helpful. The grounds are lovely and the ambiance quiet and exclusive.
The breakfast was cold - we arrived at 10 am and all the tureens were nearly empty and their contents cold. The staff started packing away at 10.20 and loudly talking to each other. Not what should happen in an expensive hotel.
We had a sea view room which was a mistake since rather traffic noise was horrendous and since the air con was not operative in early March it was either a noisy night or a hot night.

Nice Hotel. Good room with excellent sea view. The shower was broken when we arrived, and the reception organised this to be fixed the same day. However it continued to leak and cause issues with the bathroom floor. The bathroom door was already bowed as it had been exposed to the water from previous leaks, which we realised when we arrived.

Semi responsive staff. When we arrived there was not much customer care and we were left to our own devices to find the amenities. The reception staff just told us what time breakfast was and our room number, and we were left to find this.
Room cleaning would not happen in a timely manner and we would leave and come back in the afternoon after our daily excursions, only to find our room was not clean despite the sign asking for this to be done, being clearly displayed on the door handle as is expected.

I opted for a massage on our last day, which was nice (first half), someone walked in during the second half when I was semi naked laying on my back. My eyes were semi covered, so i did not see if it was staff or a customer, but assume it was the latter as the masseur Hadijah, ushered them out in silence. The person sounded like a child and when finished, I noted there were two male children walking the spa halls looking for Hadijah to ask her something. I did not mention this to staff, as I could not confirm, but wanted to note in the review as privacy policies and adherance to dignity practices should be paramount for this service.

Check in was fine. Nothing special, very to the point and no questions or anything. In the middle of the night, the room above us sounded like they were moving furniture. We tried to call the front desk but the phone wouldn’t connect. My husband then went in the middle of the night to the front desk to tell them, but it didn’t stop and was still going on in the morning

Had problems with AC at night told us he’s going to send someone to address the problem no one showed up. Until check out. Asked to speak to manager were told he’s coming at 10AM so we waited. Went there were told he’s in a meeting. So no regard for customers. Very ignorant

The Atlas Riad Essaouira is a beautifully designed hotel with an excellent location. The lobby area is warm and welcoming, creating a great first impression. However, when I arrived early, I had to wait at the bar, which unfortunately wasn’t serving any soft drinks. As a tired and thirsty traveler, it would be great if the bar or coffee area could be open for early arrivals to offer refreshments while waiting for the room to be ready. Fortunately, the reception staff were accommodating and managed to prepare our room by 1 pm, which was much appreciated.

Our room had a lovely and impressive sea view, but it was somewhat outdated and did not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel as advertised. For example, the room lacked basic amenities like an iron, which is typically expected in 5-star accommodations. Additionally, the sink in the bathroom did not drain properly, requiring manual adjustment to prevent overflow. Despite calling reception three times, it took some persistence before someone finally came to assist.

The WiFi on the third floor was also quite poor, which was a bit frustrating. On a positive note, the swimming pool was delightful, although the bar service there could be improved. The waiter was unable to recommend any cocktails, leaving me to choose one at random.

Overall, while the hotel facilities are decent, there is a need for significant improvements in customer service and attention to detail to truly meet the expectations of a 5-star rating. That said, it

I love it here!

I've just spent a week at this lovely hotel - I enjoyed a different artwork in the lobby area almost daily. The room, a little tired, was very comfortable and clean and I'm glad I booked a seaview - watching the beach spring into life each morning was a highlight (NB the beach is long, wide and often very windy - watching the kite surfers dance in the air was beautiful!).
There was plenty of choice each morning at breakfast and the attendant staff were, on the whole, friendly and helpful. The pool area was pleasant and the pool itself refreshing! Again, be prepared for the windier days. There is also a lovely calm garden area with couches etc.
Location: at first I was a little disappointed to find the hotel situated so far from the medina, fishing port and fort but actually the walk (around 30 minutes) North along the beach was really enjoyable (watching the families enjoying the waves etc) as we headed to the busier end of town. Walking South provided an opportunity to watch the various camel and horse riders and, of course, enjoy the acrobatics of the kite surfers. I loved the wide, windswept expanses of beach in this area. We also discovered some excellent restaurants behind the hotel, around 10 - 15 minutes walk.
5 star? That is subjective, dependent on your previous experiences but I, for one, am looking forward to returning to the Atlas Essaouira Riad Hotel soon!

Very Good Hotel.

Beautiful Hotel just right in front of the beach. The place, staff, and amenities were all good. The staff is very polite and very helpful.
Good breakfast with lots of choices. 15 minutes walk to the downtown.
Whether you are going with or without family, I strongly recommend this place to everyone. Definitely going to visit again.

Good location. Taxi ride to Medina 7DH or easy walk of about 15 min. Beach opposite the hotel. Easy walk to restaurants.
Parking was on the street & we did ask if we could park inside the boom gate and told no, park on the street.
We had a burger & club sandwich from bar- they were good and reasonably priced for a hotel. Breakfast is ok - not many options. The pool was nice but the pool bar was not open when we visited.
The staff - not friendly, not rude - just ‘there’. The lady at the omelette station was probably the only one with a smile.

Rooms and property in general are very good. Surprisingly for Morocco, staff is not very friendly/helpful (except the bellboy, he was excellent). The reception, restaurant, etc., did not make us feel welcome at all.

Hotel is very well located. beach front and there is a lot to do walking distance. We walked to the medina and back but next time I might stay closer.

The hotel is nice, but I had a disappointing experience. I had 3 rooms, 2 of which had a broken AC. I called the front Desk 5 times and every time they told me they would send someone. I wasted hours waiting on this technician and finally gave up.
My kids couldn’t sleep because of the heat.

Where to start, so much to say....
Went with my 6 years old daughter for a 2 nights week-end in Essaouira. Chose this hotel as, as per Expedia, the best in town. Such a disappointment....
Location is great, directly on the beach, few minutes walk from Medina. Lobby is great, checking super fast, room spacious and clean, but then it starts...
Immediately called the room service upon arrival to order food for us. I chose a ribeye. Room serviced called back twice, asking first how I wanted the meat cooked, and 2nd to say they don't have the side dish I chose on their menu. Never mind. One hour later, food arrived. Smelly unchewable meet.... Amazing for a 5 stars hotels...
Evening we decided to go for a drink before dinner, arrived in the bar, chose our drinks. No fanta for my daughter, no corona for me.... ok it was low season, we went to restaurant Alizee, asking for the menu and been answered there is only one fixed menu. No problem I asked the girl at the reception desk what was in this fixed menu, she had no idea, called a waiter who also had no idea and started opening the pots to sniff out and try to guess what's inside. Tired, and as obviously they had no idea what they were serving, I left saying we will outside. The girl than ran after me saying that was the fixed menu for half board (we were not !) but there was an a la carte menu if I wanted. I immediately accepted and asked for it. She answered that was not in this restaurant but in an other one accros the street !!

When I saw some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive about what the service would be like.
It was really good, reception went over and above, housekeeping were really fab, the bar and restaurant areas were always cheery and helpful.
I would say it is not a 5 star by British standards but t is by Moroccan standards and we stayed in quite a few places.
great pool, pool bar, restaurants all really good, Seven is great for a romantic dinner watching the sunset.

Great Hotel when it comes to location and customer service. I have been staying at this Hotel every time I visit Essaouira, and each time it has been an amazing experience. All rooms are extremely clean with plenty of amenities, rooms have an awesome view of the ocean; if you decide to upgrade (strongly recommend). Front desk staff speak English as well and are very helpful, in providing quality exceptional customer service from the Hotel doorman to the manager.

Hotel has full restaurant with many decent menu items to offer, not bad at all! Hotel also offers full SPA services for additional cost. Strongly recommend this Hotel.

The checking-in was chaotic and took a hour to complete.

The room was large clean and spacious, however the bed was not made up correctly. We had to call reception to get the bed made up.
There is no tea/coffee facilities in the room. Nor any iron. Rang reception several times to eventually borrow an iron.
There's no ice machines in the hotel and had to go to the ground floor bar for ice. Bar staff were not happy having to loan us glasses to carry the ice.
Breakfast, at best can be described as mediocre..... nothing to write up.
The staff were NOT very warm or engaging, even though the hotel was largely empty.
The best part of the hotel is the beautiful artwork and sculptures on the ground floor areas.
Other then that, I will not be rushing back to this establishment.

This is a lovely, large hotel. Apart from carpets in the corridors, which seem slightly tired in places it is in good condition and offers good value for money.

Essaouira can be very windy and this was the case during our stay. At 23 degrees it was 15 degrees cooler then Marrakech and 5 degrees cooler then Agadir but the wind made it feel a good 5 degrees cooler.

The view of the beach across the road was amazing. Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Spa - my advice is stay away from - staff not trained in pedicures or massage. Mine were both Awful! Breakfast - lots of lovely pastries, omelets, mint tea. Piano bar was nice for lunch. Room had ocean view and it was wonderful to leave the windows open and listen to the waves at night. Wifi in room was very spotty - I just went down to lobby.

Not a Five Star Stay

The hotel was fine but definitely not a five star resort. Our room’s air conditioner did not work well and our room was extremely hot and run down. Lots of cracked paint and beat up furniture. We opened the window to cool off but our room was swarmed with mosquitos. There was also some type of bug in the room that bit all of us repeatedly but we never saw any sign of bed bugs, etc. I am not sure what it was but our kids were covered in bites for over a week. The food at the hotel was good and the location is excellent if you want to get out on the beach or stroll to the Medina. Service was hit or miss as the hotel representatives seemed annoyed anytime we came up to the front desk to ask a question. The staff at the restaurants and for room service were great, as well as the security in the parking area and bellmen.

Compared to European standards this hotel is at best a 4 star. Why have carpets in the hallway? They end up getting grubby and looks a mess. My room had a broken shower head but apart from that was ok. The bar is quiet nice and they have musicians play live music each night. Would I stay there again? Probably not for the price I’m sure there are others which are worthy of a 5 start status.

Fantastic experience in a very good location.
The hotel is situated across the road from the beach and a short walk from the town.

Location was brilliant. The hotel itself is nice, the room was worn and lacking in some facilities. The staff were quite cold. I requested an iron to the room and over the course of a full day I was told 5 times that one would be sent to the room but this didn't happen until we were about to leave. Internet was very slow.

5 days in essaouira

Nice hotel, polite friendly english speaking staff. Well appointed room. Wery good controllable air conditioning. Only niggle is that shower head in bathroom cannot be angled in its attachment on the wall, so water is sprayed across to the far side of the bath and over the floor. Have to use it hand held to stop water getting everywhere. Also on evening of departure key card device on room door broke meaning it took 30mins to get into room as maintenance team had to interveve after 3 attempts at getting key card reprigrammed didn’t work. Wouldn’t expect this to be a regular occurance, just bad luck on our part! Positive note: 1 hour camel trek on beach organised through reception was amazing and very reasonably priced at 150 dhm

Breakfast very, very good. Restaurants too pricy only in bar snacks prices were reasonable but too dark to eat in and no proper tables to eat at only outside.

I was expecting a lot more from this hotel. When arriving to check in I felt no warm welcome from the staff. I was given no information regarding the facilities, area or beach which is literally opposite the hotel. I went to my room to find there was hair left on some of the surfaces, the duvet cover was ripped, the bed was made badly and didn't improve on any of the days. People were smoking in the corridors and I had noticed, along with other reviewers, that the hallway carpets were in dire need of a good clean.
I had to ask to have my room made up, though i had left a sign on the door already when i went out. So then had to vacate my room when i returned to let them sort it out.

Luxury hotel (though tired) in a great location

The hotel was fabulous but needs a bit of TLC. I would have felt short changed paying full price for it but we got a good deal so it felt worth it. Great location on front of the beach. We were lucky with the weather and only felt a bit of the notorious Essaouira wind. An easy stroll down to the Medina which is more sheltered.

The hotel looks like a Rolls Royce and drive like a Volkswagen. Pool and common space are very nice, breakfast extensive and good. On check in, they would not give us our room with their confirmation number. They insisted we furnish the Expedia email confirmation. Tried to pay the hotel tax bill and their credit card machine would not work. Tried to pay in cash and they did not have change of a $20. Door cards did not work. Our ocean view room had dirty windows. Housekeeping cleaned them. My room had no A/C or internet. At night amplified music in the bar sounded like it was in our room. Music stops at 11pm. Ask about insufficient A/C they told me to open a window and thats how it is. The hallways were 10 degrees colder. Finally got another room with upgrade and A/C that worked. Internet is only available in lobby. To be fair we arrived on the first day of a important feast holiday.

We arrived to a room that wasn’t ready at all they changed the room then we had to wait again to have the house keeper change the sheets (not clean)
Unlike the the other hotels in that category the access to th hammam is not possible only if you buy a spa treatment
Anyway we haven’t had even an apology from the management ( only embarrassed staff)
For 150€ a night we expected more

This hotel is terribly overpriced - and not in great condition. I was at the hotel for five nights — AC didn’t work; WiFi didn’t work, no television reception- I complained at the reception many times. They just kept saying they would fix things but didn’t. This is not a four stars hotel.

Bathrooms need maintenance

Hotel is absolutely beautiful. The entrance and lobby is very polished; Nice marble floors, high ceilings, modern but upscale decor. Rooms are spacious but the chaulkong around the bathtub needed to be removed and replaced. I alerted the front desk and they moved us to another room. The chailking in this bathroom did not have black mildow spot however it was applied sloppy and was a dingy white.

Nice hotel about a 15 minute walk from the the Medina. It is clean and rooms are spacious although the hotel is beginning to look a bit tired in places. I would suggest including breakfast in your stay as to eat in the hotel is very expensive if you want to pay while you are there. Breakfast is plentiful although nothing special.....although the freshly squeezed orange juice is divine. The hotel is across the road from a very nice beach and the rooms facing the ocean do offer gorgeous views. Languages spoken at reception are predominantly Arabic and French with English a distant third. All in all a decent stay and most likely one of the best options if you are staying in Essaouira.

Nice hotel on the beach

This was a fantastic hotel. It was more than I was expecting. It's a place I'd typically stay for a business trip versus holiday. I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. The room was very clean and modern. The hotel bar was fun for a late evening dinner and live music. They were able to book an excursions to a variety of places around the city. The hotel was just a 15 minute walk to the Medina, as well as a handful of beachfront restaurants and bars. I'd recommend this hotel.

Close to the beach only the best bit

Had a terrible experience with this hotel, firstly being the wifi did not work at all, we were in room 355 the very last room and to use the wifi we literally had to hold our phone outside of the window to get the slightest connection or for a message to send. Staff were very unhelpful and said a technician would come to fix it and all we were told throughout our stay was that it will be fix don't worry will be fixed. It never was fixed and I gave up hope towards end of stay. My cousin and her husband who were staying in room 338 their wifi was working a little bit but still terrible so there were times I went to their room to use this. None of the hotel staff spoke any English , one guy Ayub spoke some English and we were able to get by, he was very helpful. Faisal who I think is one of the managers was trying his best to help us with our problems and looked like the only staff running around trying to do some work. We stayed here from 12-17 March this stay was supposed to be for my bday on the 14 March. We booked the deluxe room and they got mine and my cousins room booking wrong they had initially given our room to my cousin and their room to us so we had swapped. Due to all the troubles we encountered Faisal said that I can have a free hammam in the spa as it was also my bday, he said that he would organize this with the spa and I would just have to say a time and day.
Spa manager was very rude, arrogant and did not want me to have free and she was not informed and

Lovely hotel overlooking the beach

Comfortable hotel 20 minute walk from the Medina. Can walk there on the beach which is lovely. Upgraded to sea view room as hotel was quiet. Lovely breakfast with huge choice. Hotel pool enclosed by screens to keep out the wind, also private beach. Great stay.

Already booked flights to go back again

Essaouira is lovely, anyone that has enjoyed Marrakesh, but wants a more relaxed experienced of Morocco. I arrived home last night, and have already booked flights to go back, next March.
Hotel was friendly, and helpful, spoke English, but appreciated us speaking French. Was quiet, even through it was right by the road, there was little traffic and could hear the waves on the beach, whilst in bed.

Beautiful design but bad rooms and facilities

We were on the 1st floor and although it was a beautiful room, I could hear every chair, high heel, child playing, money dropping, of the 2nd floor guests above, all...night....long. On BOTH nights we stayed there. So we paid for a 5 star hotel to have no quiet and I got little sleep. No sound deadening design between floors. Also - the gym CAN\"T be called a gym. It is the smallest room with about 3 old machines, not even a bike, and it doesn't open each day until 9am!!!! Which for most travellers, is far too late in the day. The hotel looks beautiful inside but is in bad need of renovation and they should be honest and drop their star rating as in no way is this a 5 star hotel.

Horrible hotel, not 5*

This is the worst 5* hotel I stayed at.
Front desk people shouldn't be allowed in hospitality business. Men just hang up on me after lying about obvious things like presence of balcony and then denying it. A woman, apparently a manager , walked away from us while we were still trying to clarify things. She just walked away while I was still talking to her.
People at the bar were the same: we had to flag the little bartender to serve us. He was just plucking something on a computer. Then we were waited for a bill and there was no one at the bar. When we left they chased us half an hour later and at almost midnight started knocking on our door.

But not only service was terrible.
What 5* hotel doesn't provide drinking water in rooms, mini bar or coffee maker??!! This is unheard off.
There was not even iron there and even after we asked, we were refused iron .
That was the smallest room I stayed in 5* hotel all over the world. Bathtub was chipped and I saw hair and pieces of wrap in the toilet.
Furniture was dusty and scratched up.
Seriously, put your act together.

A great place to wind down and chill. Close enough to the Medina to walk, but far enough away from it.

The beach here is incredible and this hotel overlooks it.

Relaxing hotel in a convenient location

This property is very well maintained and a easy 10 minute walk from the Medina area. Very peaceful with lovely pool area. Very good breakfast in the morning. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious with gteat view.

Nice place on the coast

While the staff and location was great I was disappointed by the fact that the A/c in the room worked poorly and that there was a lot mold in the shower. This is a serious health concern that should be addressed as such.

Sadly not value for money or customer focused

Staff generally nice however reception staff with the exception of yaseen were unhelpful and unfriendly. Requested to speak with the manager (madame nadia) and didn't hear a thing.
Breakfast was basic and didn't expect coffee from a vending machine. Hotel decor was tired and in desperate need of a refurb and no drink making facilities in the room.
Really disappointing and wish we had stayed in one of the riads within the medina. Really not worth the money.

Hotel Atlas looks the part on the websites and the lobby is very impressive on entry. However, little things let it down. The bathroom shower was basic, our simple Riad in Marrakech had a better shower than this 4* hotel. The bath sealant was covered in mould. The TV in our room didn't work properly and we complained several times to the hotel, it eventually got fixed- only to break again and then we were not bothered to report it. The location is a little far from the Town when you are hot and tired. I did NOT appreciate a member of the maid team bursting into out room without knocking or any greeting/apology to put our dressing gowns in the bathroom, luckily everyone was decent- but we did not appreciate the rude disturbance. Breakfast was described by another guest as \"weak\" and I agreed with that. The spa was very expensive for a below average massage Good points- the pool area is spacious. . The room was light and airy. If this was a 3*hotel or cheaper, I would have been satisfied.

Overall a good hotel with small imperfections

Quite pleased with the hotel and the location. In my opinion, it is not a 5* hotel but the standards in Morocco might be a bit lower. Downrating on the staff because we were given the same room as another person who just walked in into our room. Unfortunately, we haven't been offered anything to make up for the mistake. We also had to wait for quite awhile for the towels at the pool in the morning. The website pictures of the sea view rooms are misleading and it appears as if the hotel is straight on the beach. They were definitely manipulated as there is a road between the hotel and the beach so it probably wasn't worth it to pay more for the view. You can still hear the waves through which was quite nice, had the best night sleep there.Otherwise, it was very good. Good breakfast and the pool facilities.

Atlas Essaouira and Spa is a perfect location for beach, surfing, kite surfing and riding camels. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are large with a comfortable bed, restaurant food is very good. Close walk to the medina. Wish I had stayed longer.

Was very disappointed with our stay here, dated rooms with stains in bathroom, no towels provided in room, spa booking was rescheduled to a time where spa was closed, repeatedly asked for our broken shower to be fixed but gave up after a while as we only had a short period of stay here. No tables available for breakfast in the morning, staff were incredibly rude mainly at reception definitely didn't feel as if we were at a 5 star establishment, don't think they really care about their guests. A positive, the private beach area was nice and quiet.

Overall the reception staff need to be retrained or fired, I have never been spoken so rudely to at any \"5 star\" establishment before and they are a real let down to the hotel. This hotel needs to understand providing good customer service and etiquette or I doubt I'll be the last person who complains about similar problems.

Family friendly. High standards all round.

Lovely,friendly and professional reception.Consistently high standards of customer service. Loved our breakfasts, especially the freshly cooked individual omelettes and pancakes. We always feel really special and well looked after at the Atlas, especially this time, as our 8 month old grand daughter joined us with her parents. They really enjoyed their massage and spa experience, whilst we baby sat!
The beachfront location is perfect, with easy access to the Medina by foot or taxi and close to the amazing, world class, Italian Gusto restaurant.
We loved our stay at the Atlas. This was our 5th year at the hotel and we'll continue to stay here because it suits our every need.
