Formerly the Sheraton. Staff were great. The property was dated. Someone jumped into the elevator who was not a hotel guest and propositioned me. Luckily he got off before I reached my room floor, but it was unsettling.

Pleasant hotel in good location.

We stayed here for 5 nights around an international rugby match at Loftus Versveldt stadium. Great location for getting to the game and also right beside the Union Buildings and park. Also a short Uber ride from various good restaurants. Very good service and very friendly staff. The hotel is a little frayed but very comfortable and clean. Only complaint is the availability of wifi which was non existent in our room and patchy in the lobby, restaurant and other public areas.

We stayed here for one night and we had no hot water, no light in the internal bathroom and only one lamp in the main bedroom. It was blamed on loadshedding, but every other business in South Africa seems to be able to work round it with their generators

I booked the Sheraton because I am familiar with the brand and had an expectation of the level of service and the standard of the property. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectation.

Check in time was stated as being from 3pm. I arrived at 5pm and my room was not ready. I was also surprised to be asked to pay for parking. I was not allowed to bill items in the restaurant or room service to my room which was a pain.

The decor is very dated.

Overall, it is hard to see how this establishment can be classed as 5 star. At best, I would say it is 3 star.

I would not stay at this property again.

Everything about the property was excellent. The friendly welcome at check-in. The member of staff who took my bags to my room was friendly and polite. In fact every member of staff I came into contact with during my 3 day stay were very professional and polite.
The room was very clean and well equipped, beautiful comfortable bed lovely bathroom with nice soft towels. In fact I couldn't fault it at all.
A special mention must be made for the restaurant. I had breakfast and dinner on my 3 mornings and evenings and the all you can eat buffet was amazing. Lots and lots of choices, all cooked to perfection and and beautifully presented. I absolutely adore it.
Lovely pool and patio area outside. Used the pool and the sauna and both superb.
Next time I am in South Africa I will definitely be back.
Highly recommend this hotel and great value for money as well.

Had high expectations of this hotel but they were, maybe, too high. I arrived for a late check in and there were staff at the reception desk talking. I waited fifteen minutes before anyone spoke to me and then ten more for someone to check me into the room. While there was an upgraded room for the trouble, the room had broken equipment inside. I'm grateful that I had a place to lay my head for a night but happy that it was only for one night. I never felt welcomed. I hope I just I caught them on a rough night. I don't know if I'll be able to visit South Africa after this coronavirus scare, but I'm willing to talk with anyone to improve it's condition.

The hotel is very well appointed and the staff are lovely people. Unfortunately although the food was good their stocking system is poor. They ran out of wine,beer and sometimes our order did not appear. On the other hand we needed some assistance for a purchase and they took us down to the shops.
Probably has the best location in Pretoria.

For a 5-star, it’s a bit run down and lacks all sorts of the comforts. The bed was creaky and there was a lot of noise. They forgot to replace coffee and milk in the morning and towels. When I would mention the noise they upgraded my room but it was still a bit noisy (though less so), however the service still wasn’t great.

LUXURY BUT DATED HOTEL WORTH THE STAY

The hotel has a lovely view of Union buildings in a part of the city that used to be in a much better condition and safer, currently, the surrounding area does not match the luxury of this property but it is central to many things and it easy to get to other places in Pretoria. The hotel is grand if dated, but very clean and comfortable. Rooms are spacious and very pleasant overall and Breakfast is decent, but not the most practical setup as there is no water, glasses for juices are on your table as are small flat plates required for certain stuff like bread and pastries. Also Breakfast service is slow and the hostess tells you where you should sit rather than ask you where you want to sit. It was one night, serves its purposes and a very pleasant experience nonetheless.

Sorry service for a dirty place

The coffee machine still had the previous customers pods in them. When I tried to make coffee the machine did not want to puncture the pods properly and spilled water. The windows was dirty and spoiled the view. The TV was dirty and full of marks on the screen. The shower was dirty and had no hot or cold indication. The wall paper was damaged. When I showed these pictures to reception the staff on duty response was “sorry to hear”. I believe the customers you are loosing now due to your slackness is also “sorry”

Lovely hotel! Area not the best but good value.

The hotel is lovely!It's a shame about the surrounding area though as it's become a bit run down. The rooms are very nice. The room service was efficient but they lacked a bit of 5 star finesse. They served smoked salmon without lemon or black pepper so had to ask for that. Also the waiter told us he doesnt get the tips if we add it to the bill which I always find annoying. We didn't eat at the restaurant as it was expensive. The parking was R80 per night which was a bit much! We enjoyed staying there and the price was reasonable.

Many hotel issues.
First night was amazing.
Next day morning we left around 9:30am and arrived at our room at 3pm.
No one had cleaned the room. Room service kept saying on the phone that no one could assist me and I had to wait for them to call me back. I had to call the Manager.
Many issues. Hopefully never will stay in this hotel again, however the hotel manager was amazing and solved our issues in 20 minutes.

Overall the hotel and service staff were very good and friendly. The concierge staff was not.
Overall the hotel was very good, presentable and looked good.
There were a few minor issues such as a noisy ac fan, only one bottle of water in each room, a broken coffee machine, a main window that did not seal out road noise and some bathroom items that were missing. However, overall it was great value for money.

Hotel is nice - area location not

The hotel is nice & was conveniently located to where we had to be. The location felt unsafe (not inside the hotel itself) e.g. even though there was a mall within walking distance - i would not go there. Very noisy during the day with all the minibus taxis constant hooting. It's a pity to see the demise of the area - as years ago that was quite an upmarket suburb. The staff in general was nice - some of them could do with more training. I was surprised to see how people would work around e.g. dirty dishes - it seemed like as it was not their job - so they'd rather leave it - instead of taking it to the kitchen - no common sense...just looked sloppy.

Not a 5 star and it is overpriced, location is terrible with nothing within walking distance - not that you would want to as it looks unsafe. Do not waste your money on the breakfast it was not good. Had to ring through every night to ask for towels as none were left in our room. The bed was good but the sheet were well worn and cheap. Would not stay here again
