My original reservation was booked through Expedia and, apparently, you two don’t work well together: I choose to pay in full at the property and you guys want a deposit, which wasn’t announced to directly by you or by Expedia. When I arrived to check-in, my reservation was inexistent and between speaking to the property and Expedia, it was very frustrating seeing both of you guilting each other. Also, the carpet in the rooms is DISGUSTING. This is 2025, please get rid of them.

I would definitely recommend The Bantry to others traveling to Cape Town. The property is located in an area where it is safe to walk after dark and there are plenty of food options within a few blocks. The hotel is also one block from the beach walk and the tour buses stop a half block from the hotel. Our hotel room was spacious and we had a great view of the ocean. The staff was very accomodating. I would recommend the bar staying open a bit later; it closed between 7:00 and 8:00 every night.

The location of the hotel is very convenient and the staff is very polite and helpful. Avoid stay on the first floor as the restaurant is located here. The noise and the banging starts very early every morning around 7am. Although we wake up early but not at 7am so thats huge negative from my side.

Feeling like a glitzy jetsetter

I booked a standard duplex and did not know that this means the view is down the busy main road in Sea Point so cannot open the sliding doors or windows due to noise. The duplex was on the 4th floor.

I then realised as a Gold member I could have been offered a free upgrade. After chatting to the friendly reception staff and the manager on duty we reached a win-win situation, I just paid in a little bit to get a super upgrade to a penthouse duplex suite on the 5th floor!!! I already booked a very good low season winter's rate so this was an amazing deal.

Amazing large patio at the back (same level as bedroom) with a view of Lion's Head hill and to the front a spectecular view of the Atlantic Ocean. The lounge and kitchen level also had a balcony with a sea view.

I would recommend to rather park on the 1st level as the basement level is very small and tight.

This was a once in a lifetime stay as the hotel will be renovated soon and I am sure it will most likely be much much more expensive then.

There are a few issues with this property. Firstly and most importantly, South Africa has rolling blackouts around two to three times a day. This Property does not have a backup generator at all. This means complete darkness with limited backup lighting - nor do the elevators work during blackouts, sonic you stay there don’t be on the 4th floor. This is not disclosed in their website or on Expedia. Almost all hotels in South Africa have adequate power backups. Secondly, staff are quite unfriendly and unhelpful. It seemed everything was a hassle. I requested a an hour later checkout and was refused without checking their system and the hotel was clearly empty. In addition you cannot charge things at the bar to your room. Small things that may irritate travelers. Room wise, it’s ok but not great. Despite having ‘VIP’ access we were given a room facing the main road in the loud side of the hotel. The cheap plastic blinds don’t block out the sun so you should expect to be awake very early especially in summer. The shower gel in the bathroom had some mold on the bottle. All in all there are much better options on the Atlantic seaboard at that price.

Nice hotel conveniently located in a beautiful part of town. Service was excellent, breakfast was good, room amenities were great. Only issue was the lack of sufficient generator backup during electricity load shedding periods in the area; we were told that the hotel was in the process of getting the issue fixed.

Overall a wonderful play to unwind in Seapoint

Overall i enjoyed my stay at this wonderful establishment. My only minor issues related to what was included in my booking as free. I had free self parking yet i was asked both on arrival and departure to pay for parking, however on both occasuons when i told the receptionists parking was included they said its ok. I was also supposed ro get a free bottle of wine during my stay which i did not get. Im not sure if this was reflected in the booking that was sent to the hotel from hotels.com.

Sea facing rooms are large. You have a separate lunge and kitchen from the main bedroom and parking is now free.
Breafast is more than enough catering for both hot and cold.

This suite hotel is only a block from the beach. Our room on the 3rd floor had a nice view of the ocean. Also, its within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We especially liked Sundoo for Indian food. My only complaint is that the seagulls are very loud. They woke us up each morning!

The bungalows are really nice and bathroom very spacious.
The rooms themselves can be a little warm, even with the air conditioning as cold as it will go.
Security regularly go round the bungalows which is reassuring too, however, the flash lights were a little anoying at times.
Breakfast is pretty good, but the process can be a little confusing, eg. having to sign a book to say you've eaten and would you like to tip (we didn't)
the biggest downside is that being the hotel at the bottom of the hill, getting around can take longer, as not all the drivers know where the bungalows are and we did feel like 3rd class citizens at times. We found it easier to get the bus to and from the main car park and walking over.

Avoid the room with a city view if possible, room looking onto a busy main road, in a relatively run down area. We upgraded to a duplex luxury suite because of the city view room we were allocated. This room however was not of the standard we had experienced previously. The redeeming feature was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

I primarily booked this hotel because it was located in a great area and was affordable, but once I arrived I knew it was the right choice. The front desk worker when I arrived had everything for me when I arrived quite late at night and made the process last only minutes. We booked a deluxe room with balcony and it was a great size for longer stay (12 days) - separate lounge, dining area, small kitchenette and separate bedroom. Lovely being able to sleep with the doors open and listen to the waves - sea view certainly worth it. Overall very happy with our choice and thoroughly enjoyed Cape Town.

two weeks at bantry bay suite hotel

just returned home from a 2week stay in cape town.the bantry bay suite hotel penthouse was our accomadation for the 2 weeks,from check in to check out it was a brilliant experience.the penthouse was home from home.the penthouse was cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis,any request (iron etc.) was promptly dealt with.we enjoyed the pool area and bar,the food was excellent and well presented,and good value for money.the main attribute of the hotel are the staff ,from the general manager to the cleaner they looked after us and allways had a smile on their faces.
conclusion, the perfect hotel and location to enjoy cape town and surrounding area.
we were so impressed we have booked for January 2019.

I've stayed in a variety of hotels across many countries (particular highlights being New York, Beijing, Istanbul, Paris, Rome, Hanoi, Hon Kong and Buenos Aires) and this particular establishment surpassed my expectations in every way. The suites are extremely large and spacious and also very clean and visually pleasing. The breakfasts are nothing to write home about but are probably the only thing that is not exactly 'four star' about this hotel. All in all a very pleasant stay with very courteous staff - a nice surprise.

Decent stay at fair price.

Great stay in a great location. Quick taxi ride to both V&A and Camps Bay. Lovely walk along the coast to both if you prefer. Penthouse Suite was beautiful with amazing views and they were huge! Decent breakfast but hotel was tired in places. Service a little slow in the restaurant/bar which let it down. The beds were super comfortable.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff and perfectly clean rooms. Our only disappointment was that the room was clearly marked as having a sea view when I initially clicked it on Hotels.com, but we weren't given a sea view room.

Looking at my documentation, it doesn't say \"sea view\" in the details, and thus I was given a false impression. It seems that Hotels.com combined the price for the cheapest room with the sea view of the more expensive room on the initial page. Not the type of treatment I expect from a booking agent and I'll certainly think twice before using Hotels.com again.

The hotel is very nice and clean. The room was big and the bed also. Excellent location. Wi fi is very good.
However the room I was given was right on the street and it was noisy especially in the morning. There was unbearable noise coming from the water pipes. The curtains are not dark enough and the street lights came through. The tv bundle was very limited with only 3 sport channel and only sky news. Few other movie channels also.

We made a last minute booking, not wanting to stay right in camps bay and this turned out to be ideal. We turned up a little and there was some confusion at the front desk which resulted in us getting upgraded to the #2 penthouse!! Absolute score. It was easily one of the best rooms I have stayed in and has amazing views up and down the coast. It's close to camps bay but You'll probably need a car to get around if you are staying here.

May I suggest water in the rooms as you are charging the same as any other hotels that have suites?
Expedia is terrible and your website is not user friendly keeps asking for a password and login details which takes you too expedia etc, cannot get invoices from the reception if booked through them.
I asked for a sea view and got a wall view with explanation. Why ask me questions when you are going to ignore them?

Tried to phone hotel 3-4 weeks before arrival to ask about parking. Whoever answered the phone was extremely rude. She spoke fast and it was difficult to make out the words. She put the phone down in my ear twice. I called again and asked that she put me through to the duty manager ad she put the phone down I my ear again. Then I wrote to Hotels.com who I used for the booking and they had the same experience with a very unfriendly, impolite receptionist and apologised for not getting back to me wit an answer. After three days they came back with an answer. This was my only extremely negative experience before arrival. The two guys at the bar were extremely friendly ad helpful. The receptionist was okay, very formal.

The location has a distant water view and is right next to the hop on hop off bus stop. The staff was very helpful with the requests we had about trips to book, phone usage.etc..The street to the side of the hotel has a number of stores including a supermarket.

1)Andiswa the receptionist wasn't clued up on anything, all her answers were \"I'm not sure\" and I was told the manager was not around when there was a problem.

2) The hotel room had no toilet paper in the room.
3)The plug points for the hairdryer and electric shaver were not working so I couldn't blo-dry my hair and couldn't charge my phone overnight. I had to use my portable charger that I had charged at my home before I arrived at the hotel thank goodness!
3) There were no two pin plugs to charge anything in the bedroom or even near the bedside! How does one charge their phone whilst sleeping?
4) Breakfast was the only nice thing about my stay.

For a four star hotel I must say I was quite disappointed.
The room was otherwise clean and excellent location.

The suite was well appointed, very clean. There is a fridge, kettle and microwave/convection small oven. There was also hot plates but no pans to use on them! Our breakfast was included in our deal and was very good; fresh fruit, cereals, pastries,bread/toast, cooked food if you wanted it. There is a small pool with loungers, good place to relax. Just off the pool is a bar where you can get alcoholic drinks and snacks as well as coffee and cake.
The hotel is close to a Spar where you can get all the groceries and wine you might need. There are also a good selection of places to dine and for coffee. There are is also a handy launderette, reliable and good value.
The hotel is close to the Sea Point outdoor pool which is a great facility; free for the over 60's! The beaches near the hotel are limited but you can easily get a bus to Camps Bay which has a lovely beach. You can also get a bus into the city.

Very Good and Lovely Location

This was our second time here, this hotel is great, nice staff, good size rooms, balcony, and good location. There are lots of restaurants, supermarkets, cafes and shops within walking distance. The beach is a 5 minute walk. Laundrette across the road. Breakfast was ok, not much choice and not worth the price. Parking is available.

Comfortable stay. Tired in areas

Very comfortable stay. Location great for bamtry bay. Can suffer from a little noise from coaches into hotel next door. Room a little tired in areas. No point securing the safe with one bolt to a shelf inside a wardrobe. Defeats the object.

GO HERE

I visit here quite often when I am in Cape Town and always enjoy opening the balcony window and seeing the sea. Just make sure you take a sea facing room as its worth it. The space in the room is super as well as the free coffee, tea and biscuits. Great staff especially Wendy.

Business trip. Upon checking in unfortunately the description on hotels.com was wrong as there was no balcony, but was sorted out fast with recepetion staff which was very helpful. So got a room with balcony and sea view even.
Overall a nice hotel and will consider staying there again.
