When we initially arrived, we were advised that it was too early to check in, which was fine and they stored our luggage, after looking up our booking on the system. We then returned some hours later to find that the hotel had overbooked and we had been moved to another hotel with an inferior room to that which we had booked and paid for. Having stored our luggage, we then had to move and incurred extra parking charges, which would not have arisen, had they advised us of the hotel change when we initially arrived. We did make contact with the hotel to voice our disappointment after our move, but got no reply and no apologies

The staff were very helpful. However, the hotel is located on the second floor of a shopping mall along a busy main street, right next to a gas station — not the most ideal setting for a relaxing stay. While the surrounding area is quite nice, the hotel’s location and setup leave much to be desired.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room was clean overall although the shower could use some work. Air conditioner was very loud and was leaking, which resulted in a few unexpected showers on us on the middle of the night. Birds were also very loud, in addition to the traffic noises (which we anticipated ), so it was hard to sleep past 5 am.

The staff at this hotel were excellent and they do care for their customers. We were however checked in very late past the official time and one room did have a issue with the sink in the bathroom on the last day which lucky for me, didn't really impact the stay. Location is great and the mountain views are amazing in the morning.

Amazing stay - great rooms, location and staff

I absolutely loved this hotel. I meant to stay for 5 nights and ended up staying for almost two weeks. The rooms are spacious, well kept and super clean. The hotel is located in a great area within a walkable distance to the promenade, bars and restaurants. But what is best is the amazing staff who truly makes you feel welcome. The huzz-n-buzz in the area might put someone off, looking for a tranquil place to stay. But once in your spacious clean and neat room, with kingsize bed, coffee machine, bar fridge, microwave and TV, it's very pleasant.

Pros: Nice property, excellent staff, secure access, easy onsite parking, clean comfortable bed, hot shower, cold air conditioning, and soft towels. Easy access to shops, restaurants, spa and art galleries.

Cons: Limited table/counter space made it very difficult to set up the room for my stay. I was constantly needing to move things around to make coffee, charge electronics or eat. Lack of outlets made it difficult to charge electronics.

Newkings exceded our expectations. Superb service from friendly staff. We stayed in room 313 which has a balcony with a stunning view of Lion's Head. The room was very spacious and nicely laid out.

The attached restaurant is also superb. The street the hotel is on has some amazing restaurants, and is a 2 minute walk to the beach front.

Lovely hotel with the most friendly staff. Access is a bit unusual, through a shopping mall during the day and through an underground car park at night. But once you’re in it’s very nice with a great restaurant and lovely views of the sea.
