Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, which was small and in quiet location. Pool area was small but clean and tidy.

Staff were very helpful. Only downside to the hotel was that the sink in our room was terrible (luke warm water and almost a trickle from the tap). The shower was fine but the overall condition of the bathroom wasn't good. The rest of the hotel room was acceptable.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and think it was good value for the price.

The location is ok, at least a 2 km walk from anywhere you'd want to go as a tourist/visitor...nothing really in the immediate vicinity. On the positive side, it did feel relatively safe, and I did like the off-street parking option for the one night that I kept a rental car there.
However, the room itself and service were lacking in many ways; among them:
The room has a lot of cabinetry, which I suppose is great if you're staying long enough to fully unpack, but I don't do that for fewer than 5 nights.
2. There was very little place to put things aside from in cabinets. Not a lot of surface space; no hooks to hang things, etc.
3. The room smelled musty and always felt damp.
4. There was a heat/AC unit, but the batteries in the controller were dead, so that was useless.
5. There was a hair dryer, but the plug on it wasn't compatible with any outlet in the room/bathroom
6. The bathroom had almost NO flat surface to put toiletries, etc. The shower had none at all, so you had to keep any soap/shampoo on the floor and bend down to get them.
7. The room was dirty and there was quite a bit of hair in the bathroom when we arrived.
8. There is a safe but the operating instructions didn't match it, so I locked myself out on first attempt, leaving me to keep any valuables locked in my suitcase.
9. They don't provide drinking water or ice. There is a drinking water dispenser in the breakfast area, but they don't allow guests to fill water bottles; it has to be bought.

The poor little o8 hotel

The hotel was very small nothing like the pictures, we were on the third floor had to take cases up no lift. No hot water, tap loose towel rail falling of the wall, light on bedside cabinet not working, no hairdryer as described on site . Very poor breakfast.
How it got four stars I shall never know.

Breakfast was OK. Think I might have been the only one staying at the hotel so the breakfast was quite simple. Continental including eggs / sausage / bacon.

It was kinda OK...on the bright side - bathroom is very spacious, convenient and bright and parking is on sight (room for 4 cars).
Room is OK.
We booked a room + bfast and showed the hotel it is included in our reservation but the hotel showed me the reservation they received and it didn't have breakfast...

Pool is almost forced into the back yard, was dirty and not inviting but anyways was too cold to use it.
The electricity outlets in the room didn't work so no coffee and charging phones...not sure what was wrong.
Anyways - we spent less than 12 hours and continued. Wasn't a disaster and price was fair.

A very private little stayover.

The quietness and privacy afforded during my 3 day stay was appreciated. The easy access to restaurants and the promenade made for very pleasant walks beside the ocean. The staff were friendly and caring and assisted with my requests courteously.

Great hotel!

The One 8 Hotel is such a lovely little find. Friendly and professional service from every single member of staff right from the moment we arrived.
We booked the small ground floor room and contrary to other reviews on here, we found the room perfectly adequate for our needs. The only down side to this room in my opinion is the proximity to the reception area; on occasion you could hear other guest talking and socialising but it was nothing that would stop me booking again. The pool and hot tub were nice additions and a great way to unwind after a long day.
I just want to finish by saying thank you once again for a lovely holiday and I very much hope to return to your hotel again in the near future.

It's a nice small, tucked-away hotel, yet within a 20-30 min. walking distance from the waterfront area. Very clean, the room is spacious and the staff are very friendly.
They just don't have an elevator, that's the only thing...but the staff are more than willing to carry your bags up to your room.

Quiet and great location

We loved the hotel staff, pool, quite ambiance, and location of this small hotel. The room was clean (but small), the bed was very comfortable, and we had a nice view of the pool from the veranda. Capetown is suffering from a severe drought and we tried to save water, but the toilet was leaky and the plumbing could be improved. There was no screen on the patio door so we weren't able to get much fresh air. All in all, the room was a great value and we definitely enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

Great small and friendly hotel

Just had 3 nights at The One 8 following a safari and it is a great small and friendly hotel. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and the ensuite shower room was great too. The room had a balcony though the view is of other properties as the hotel is in a built-up area. However the room and balcony overlook the pleasant pool and garden area so we would have used the balcony if we'd had time. The hotel is within walking distance of Sea Point and Green Point and we walked to The Waterfront one day which was a lovely walk by the sea. If you're not very mobile the distance could be a problem but taxis are very reasonable and the hotel will book them for you. Also worth mentioning that the hotel does not have a lift though there are just 2 flights of stairs to the first floor. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice offered. Everywhere is very clean and well maintained. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

The sign outside was missing, it had broken completely off.
The door to street was secure.
Staff were friendly.
There is no lift so bags must be carried up staircase.
The wifi didn't work in the room, we needed it to make plans with our friends and keep in touch with family in New Zealand so that was a problem. We asked about it but it wasn't resolved during out time there. We only stayed one night.
The safe in room was locked so we couldn't use it, that wasn't resolved during our time.
The bathroom and bed were very comfortable. There is no separate toilet.
The breakfast was well laid out and included cook breakfast in needed.
There are nice fish tanks.

Nice Botique hotel on a Budget

Great little boutique hotel. Hot tub requires a 4-5 hour advance notice for use. 10 minute walk to the Big Red (hop-on/hop-off) Bus, Greenpointe pick up location (just north of the lighthouse)

A nice hotel, friendly staff, good food and good value. The room was good overall though would have appreciated better pillows. Also the shower irritated as there is no door and the tiles were angled wrong so that the floor got soaked every time.

Boutique hotel a quick hop from city centre

The hotel had about 8 rooms, a private parking pad, private swimming pool and bar, ful l breakfast service, and great views from the rooms. The room was small, but had all the right amenities and layout. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants a relaxing retreat and that would probably Uber/taxi to and from the hotel location as opposed to expect to walk everywhere from the immediate location.

Hotel One Eight was a small hotel, clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Room very comfortable, good size. Breakfast very tasty. Pool a bit smaller, but enough to relax. Hotel is about 10 minutes taxi ride from the tourist Waterfront area where is many restaurants to choose from.

Tucked away and close to the Stadium this 8 room hotel was quiet and relaxing. Good sized rooms and excellent breakfast served outside.The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.The V and A was a 40 minute walk along the seafront or 30 down the main road.No restaurant so either walk into Green Bay or the Hussar Grill and the Butchers Shop on the seafront. Beware of car park gates, a bit narrow depending on the size of your car.

Really fantastic hotel.

The hotel is a lovely small 8 room hotel that gives you a really personal service. The staff were exceptional, greeting you by name and making sure you felt taken care of, really enhanced our stay. Nothing seamed to be too much trouble, from helping to organise dinner bookings or trips, to breakfast. Hotel had a small pool and jacuzzi area, all very clean and lovely if you wanted to eat outside.

A safe, quiet and friendly hotel.

The One 8 Hotel is a great guesthouse which is located near to some great restaurants and bars. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The room was spacious, light and comfortable (with air conditioning) and the staff were more than happy to help us with booking taxis, organising tours and trips and looking out for our general wellbeing. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay

Had a very positive experience. Big, comfortable room. Nice staff, though one staff member was a little pushy about signing us up for tours. Otherwise, staff was very helpful with anything we needed, from cabs to ordering food. It's on a quiet street, close to the ocean and not too far from the things you'll want to do. There is a pool, but it's tiny and doesn't get a lot of sunlight on it. Breakfast was fantastic.

Lovely facilities,fantasticstaff,best for couples

The hotel is small and in a quiet suburban street with other Guest houses and small hotels or apartment blocks. It is about 5 minute walk to local shops and fast food cafes, slightly longer 10 to 15 minute walk to restaurants.
The hotel has excellent service with freshly cooked breakfast to order.The reception staff are happy to make light snacks during the day or provide tea or drinks by the pool.The staff are very attentive and helpful.
There is a small outside area based around a pool with decking and loungers, plus more seating for al fresco breakfasts. There is also an outside jaccuzi,and a small fitness room. The rooms are very comfortable with extra large beds, and the shower is also very roomy.there are tea making facilities in the room.
All in all we had a lovely few days stay and found the hotel catered for all our needs.

We stayed at the One 8 for one night, I wish it could have been more.Set back of the main road in a quiet area with good security.The room and the hotel was very modern and spotless, it has a small pool and deck area very well kept. We were unable to try breakfast so I cant comment on that but the staff were very helpfull and plesent.

Beliggenheten var bra, i et rolig område. Et lite hotell. Servicen var veldig bra. Bassengområdet var ikke spesielt innbydende, og det var mye rusk i vannet. Ingen heis, så det egner seg ikke for de som er avhengig av det. Rommet var det ok størrelse på, men med vegg- til- vegg tepper som ikke har vært rengjort på en stund. Pent bad, men vann fra dusjen fløt utover alt. Vi hadde forventet mer av et 4 stjerners hotell.

Opção tranquila na Cidade do Cabo.

O hotel, que mais se assemelha a uma guesthouse, se localiza numa rua tranquila, residencial, sem muitas opções de restaurante nas proximidades. A recepção não funciona 24 h, e o café da manhã precisa ser pedido no dia anterior, se for algo mais sofisticado que um ovo mexido. Equipe atenciosa, quarto grande e confortável.

O hotel me decepcionou. Talvez eu tenha criado muita expectativa por ser um hotel 4 estrelas. É um hotel pequeno, sem elevador, o café da manhã é limitado, as toalhas eram péssimas e o ar condicionado fazia muito barulho. Me parecia mais um hostel do que um hotel. Os recepcionistas foram simpáticos.
