Stayed here for the Cape Town Marathon and loved this place. Tino and the staff are very helpful, convenient location, quiet rooms, and easy to catch Ubers everywhere. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Casually elegant lodgings. We stayed in the Annex which is an economy suite, but felt we had our own little piece of privacy.
The common areas are beautifully appointed with original art nicely displayed. The staff is highly friendly and attentive. They have superb restaurant suggestions and they will help you with reservations, taxi, and all and sundry. Breakfast included is a very nice option. The owner is not a bad bloke either!

Got a fab out of season deal, around 70% saving. Was upgraded at no extra cost. I stayed in room 9. Reminds me of lush Durban, palm trees and funky decor of the room. Just a pity internet is really bad. So if you plan to have a lazy night in, bring own DVDs or downloaded movies along, can watch on TV in room

Beautiful Hotel, Great Stay

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we had a great experience. All of the staff are extremely friendly, courteous and go the extra mile.

The hotel is nicely furnished and breakfast is of a high standard. The hotel is situated in a nice location and has a nice, relaxed vibe.

I recommend you check out this boutique hotel in a peaceful location, a stroll to the riverfront & beaches, brilliant breakfast with attentive staff. Offered no pressure on tourist choices options during my stay. I'm so happy this was my home in Cape Town.

Charming guesthouse with fantastic staff

Cape Standard was our first stop after arriving in South Africa and it made a great impression! The room was very chic with a stylish bathroom, and the terrace at the back of the property was a gorgeous haven where we felt instantly relaxed after our travels. We were also able to eat breakfast out there on each morning of our stay which was such a treat. The guesthouse is situated in a good spot in Greenpoint, and was around a 20 minute walk to the waterfront area, though one evening we did decide to drive it instead. There was some construction work taking place behind the hotel, which wasn't an issue for most of our stay due to it being the weekend, but it could scupper a lie in during the week!

Excellent entry to Cape Town

The welcome at the Cape Standard couldn't have been better. From early emails to Margot about airport transfers and car rental, to the warm greeting we received from Paddington upon our late-night arrival, the dinner recommendations and reservations, plus general tips on getting around the city, the delicious breakfast, and the beautiful design of the place, we felt at home immediately. Really we couldn't ask for more. Cape Standard is a find.

We stayed at the Cape Standard for 4 nights. We were looked after really well from the minute we walked in until we left. The room was very modern and comfortable and the communal areas are well decorated and relaxing. Breakfast was simple but delicious each day and the service we received was brilliant. A special thanks to Paddington, he was a great host, always smiling and nothing was ever too much trouble.

Staying at a Morgue between Building Sites

Terrible, surrounded by Building Sites you stay in a room that has the charm of a morgue, grey walls, grey floors, no paintings. No telephone on the room, no Mini Bar and Breakfast the bare essentials, not even cold meats or proper hot breakfast selection.

For that price a total rip-off!

Friendly staff, dirty rooms.

Th estaff cannot be faulted on their service and in fairness the owner did offer us an alternative room however our room was dirty. The curtains were torn and stained. The lights next to the bed are dirt ridden and dusty, the bathroom was covered in sand when we arrived. The walls are marked and dirty. The carpet is not clean. The room just is not up to standard.

The staff were friendly and wonderful and I have to make special mention of Clive who was ever willing to assist. The hotel was of average standard and nothing luxurious. All the basics were provided for and I had a pleasant stay. The bathroom sink clogged a bit but was sorted. The rooms are very old and need upgrading.

Enjoyable stay

Great hotel with really good service from each of the staff that were there. It felt like a home from home. The room we had didn't have air conditioning which I think is needed if you stay there in the summer months. The decor of the entire hotel was very classy and well maintained. I would stay there again.

An outstanding hotel.

We were recommended this hotel by friends and would endorse this recommendation without any hesitation. It is outsatnding. Although termed a 'guest house', we would consider it to be a 'boutique hotel'. It has both style and charm, without being pretentious. The quality of service, from all members of staff who really work as a team, is exceptional. We stayed for five nights and the hotel quickly became our home from home. There were several nice touches, including cold water being available in the lounge area as we arrived back after a full day and sherry/nibbles provided in the evening. Breakfast is lovely and served either in the lounge or on a delightful deck area. Our room was perfect for us and allowed us a good night's sleep. Although the hotel is slightly away from the centre of the city, it is within walking distance of several bars/restaurants/cafes and the beautiful waterfront. The hotel is in a safe area. When we return to Cape Town, we will definitely stay at the Cape Standard.

Camera ampia e molto pulita, letto comodissimo. Dal patio si accedeva direttamente alla piscina. Molto carino il giardino dove la mattina viene servita un'abbondante colazione. Personale giovane, simpatico, preparato. La zona è comoda al centro, che è raggiungibile a piedi con una bella passeggiata. Parcheggio gratuito disponibile.

Excelente atendimento! Toda a equipe trata os hóspedes com muito cuidado! Quarto e chuveiro confortáveis. Localização segura. Geweldige plek om te verblijven, centraal gelegen bij Camps Bay en Waterfront, rustige mooie omgeving, fantastische villa, Margot en personeel bijzonder hulpzaam en uitstekende service.
Een klein puntje, het bed is iets gammel, maar verder the place to be, we komen zeker terug!

Das ein oder andere Möbelstück geht vom Zustand her über den Vintagelook hinaus.

My stay in this hotel was really great! The location is prefect, close to everything and very safe. Concerning the hotel, the staff is very friendly and ready to help you with everything. The room was good also, you have all the furnitures and stuff you need to sleep well! What I have also enjoyed the breakfast included: nice and simple.

Wir haben 4 wunderbare Tage im Cape Standard verbracht. Wir hatten ein sehr schönes Zimmer in der Villa mit eigenem Balkon. Das ganze Haus ist sehr komfortabel eingerichtet und besonsers toll ist die schöne Terasse, auf der wir jeden Morgen ein frisch zubereitetes Frühstück eingenommen haben. Jonathan gab uns gute Tips für das abendliche Dinner und reservierte auch gleich einen Tisch für uns in den entsprechenden Restaurants. Wir haben während des Aufenthaltes standesamtlich geheiratet und David hat den Tag noch ganz besonders gemacht in dem er uns spontan eine wunderebare Kulisse (Tafelberg im Hintergrund) für den formellen Teil zur Vergügung gestellt hat. Vielen Dank an das ganze Team, wir werden sehr gerne wieder kommen.

Leider können wir die Begeisterung der meisten Bewerter vor uns nicht teilen. Das Cape Standard liegt zwar recht zentral (2 km von der Waterfront entfernt), doch das war's dann auch schon. Die Parkmöglichkeiten sind sehr begrenzt und bei voller Belegung des Hauses nicht ausreichend für alle Gäste. Die Zimmer sind dunkel, einfach und lieblos eingerichtet, im Badezimmer reicht das Licht kaum zum Schminken. In der Dusche platzen Fliesen und Fugen aus der Wand.
Das inkludierte Frühstück ist ebenso einfach gehalten. Hier ist der Name \"Standard\" leider Programm.
Für eine Nacht ok, für einen längeren Aufenthalt jedoch nicht empfehlenswert. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis hat hier einfach nicht gestimmt. Für 20 Euro mehr pro Nacht, nächtigt man in einem deutlich komfortabler ausgestattetem Gästehaus.

Excellent, safe and comfortable

Really excellent boutique hotel in a very safe and beautiful part of cape town. Very comfortable, stylish and clean rooms. Within walking distance to the warf mall and around 30 min walk to centre of town.

The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, they helped me arrange shark diving, kruger safari, restaurants, and bus tickets.

The only drawback is a construction site next door which will be disruptive if you’re not an earlybird., but you’re out and about between 0800-1600 this should not be a major problem. The work could possibly be done around Christmas time 2015.

Such a lovely place and the best staff ever.

One of the best places i've ever stayed while travelling. The staff is so nice and friendly that you feel like home as soon as you arrive.
They always pay a little extra attention which is always appreciated.

It is also very well located as pretty much every tourist attraction is within 5-10 minutes by car.

I highly recommand.

Übernachten neben Baustelle!

Ganz, ganz schlecht! Dreckige Zimmer. Um 7 Uhr startet die Baustelle gleich nenenan. Das ganze Hotelzimmer bebte! Auf die Baustelle wurden wir vorab nicht aufmerksam gemacht, sie wurde ganz einfach nicht thematisiert. Es handelt sich um eine grosse Baustelle. Auch die Zimmer waren schmuddelig.
