This was not a great experience. The breakfast was good but the rooms were very old and the WiFi did not work our whole trip. The shower and bathroom were kind of gross as well. The hot tub did not work at all during the entire length of our trip.

The rooms are very dated and need \"modernization especially the bathrooms...not a good fit for the elderly.

We booked here for 2 nights for a weekend trip. The first night was ok. At breakfast the next morning, we sat in an almost empty dining area away from the other patrons so we can have some privacy to eat.

The waitress came over without any sort of greeting and demanded that we sit in the area where the few other guests were seated. We asked her what the problem was and she said we were siting at a 4 person table (that was set for 3) and we needed to move to the other area. We indicated that the restaurant was almost empty and in the last 45 minutes of operation for breakfast, and the likelihood of the restaurant needing our table was slim. We told the waitress we didn’t want to move and wanted privacy, to which she replied “you don’t have a choice”. The waitress immediately created a hostile situation in the presence of the other 8 patrons creating a scene loudly arguing with my wife and I demanding that we move. We again told her we did not want to move. She said “I will let you slide today, but tomorrow you can’t sit here.”

Flabbergasted, we went to the front desk to ask for the manager, which we were told was at home over an hour away and wouldn’t be in until 10:00 at the earliest.
We demanded an apology and the cancellation and refund of the second night.

We left afterwards in fear of one of the kitchen staff spitting in our food and feeling insulted and chastised. The waitress has no business in her role.

We had a great stay. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Hotel Playa Bejuco - I was a little worried it would feel like a touristy budget beach hotel. It actually feels more like a rustic lodge than a giant, modern hotel. In a good way! There are ~20 rooms total and they all surround a central courtyard with a pool. We were traveling in a group of 6 (our family 2 grandparents). We booked two family rooms - 2 queen beds & private bathroom each. The hotel was very helpful in accommodating our request for one room on the ground floor.

The rooms are very spacious and clean, and the beds are clean and comfortable. There is AC in each room and you can adjust. There are also working fridges and a safe (no microwave). The bathroom was clean and functional, but if you are traveling with someone with physical accessibility needs, note that the tub/shower may be difficult to access. The tubs in our rooms were built in (vs free-standing) and it is an especially high step to get in. There is a grab-bar but still may pose a challenge.

The hotel staff was wonderful, especially Daniel at the front desk who was friendly and knowledgeable. He helped us arrange a to-go box of fruit for the mornings we were leaving before 7am (when breakfast opens). Note the hotel’s restaurant is closed on Mon. so breakfast may not be offered that day.

The location is incredible - literally steps from an amazing beach. If you have activities in Quepos or Manuel Antonio, it is a ~45-60 minute drive each way.

We were notified ahead of time that the pool was not available and could cancel the reservation even though the internet said non-refundable. We stayed there anyway but appreciated the effort. We arrived late and tired on a Thursday and were told that it is the one night each week that the restaurant is closed. This was frustrating for us. Wish they noted that on the amenities list. But we did eat there the next night and it was amazing food!!! The breakfast was also delicious and generous!

There is some wildlife in the area as well which is nice. Not much to do in the area though and it's hard to get to without pre-arranged transportation. Nice getaway though! Internet works amazing!

The room was not as expected. Booked 2 queen and instead received 1king and a loft with 2 single beds. The loft was too warm for sleeping and the air conditioner was blowing into our faces in the king bed and was not comfortable. It was already dusk and too late to change hotels. Daniel was very kind at front desk but couldn’t do anything for us.

Beautiful and clean with attention to detail, such as artfully folded towels. Large pool shaded by native trees, even at midday. Generous breakfast included. Convenient dining on the premises that stays open late. A short walk to the beach without Jacó’s crowds. Excellent bilingual service. As a U.S. expat in Costa Rica, I travel all the time. I highly recommend Hotel Playa Bejuco for anyone looking for a peaceful beach getaway.

Hotel provides easy access to the nearby beach, it has a nice pool, decent size clean rooms and a good restaurant Staff are pleasant and helpful. This property needs some investment in maintenance primarily around the pool area (cracked/missing tiles). For us without transportation it would have been helpful to have some kind of shuttle to get to and from the main road with our luggage, and rental bikes to get around the area. All in all though it is a good spot for a quiet stay away from the noise of Jaco, and places such as Manuel Antonio park or Rainmaker could be reached by car. Good value for money.

Decent hotel by a quiet beach

Good location, friendly staff, good food. The property could use some updates in style and comfort, especially in beds and seating. Water pressure was ok, but the deep soaking tub advertised is not useful if they don't supply a drain stopper (we asked to get one and were told no).
The two restaurants are really one above for dinners with a view, downstairs for breakfast and lunch. The included breakfast was good with six choices, and served promptly.
We had one issue with the air conditioner, which they fixed very quickly. The pool was kept very clean, but is not large. Depth for the adult pool is too deep for children, but they can use the smaller pool.

A little dated but nice property. Nice pool, good rooms, great staff. ONLY PROBLEM: there are no blackout curtains so the room is super bright since around 5am (sunrise) and from the front of the room all night due to the hallway's light which may make it impossible to have a good sleep for some people.
Breakfast is good with good variety also the restaurant for lunch and dinner with affordable prices.

Nice Quiet Hotel

Lovely one-night stay here on way up from Osa to Nicoya Peninsula. The room was clean and comfortable. What was most impressive was the friendliness of the staff. I had to leave early before the included breakfast time, and they took the effort to pack up some food to go. Beyond excellent customer service! A few details in the room could be updated, but overall a nice experience. I would stay here again! Family friendly and quiet which I appreciated.

Great location; view of beach is excellent. The hotel room was not the standard we expected. Mattress was uncomfortable. There are no drawers or shelves to put clothes for a week stay. Bathroom is not good. Too short shower curtain; water splashes everywhere. Tile grout is in need of replacement. Sink is too shallow and water spashes everywhere. Toilet does not flush well; takes 2 or 3 tries to flush everything down.

Staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Restaurant has great dinners and breakfast is well done.

We left after 3 days because we wanted a place closer to activities we wanted; we were willing to give up 3 days of prepaid hotel service to find a hotel more conveniently located near tourist attractions and with better conditions.

Overall, it’s a lovely location and great layout, but in need of many upgrades.

The staff at Hotel Playa Bejuco were courteous, helpful, and professional and spoke English for those of us who aren't up to snuff on our Español. The rooms were very nice and the photos really don't do this spot justice. The hot tub is not hot but it may just be out of service at the moment.
The beach, Bejuco, is a short walk away and very few people (compared to other beaches in the area) frequent this beach. The beach is also very family friendly with long shallow surf that kids can go out in and play without it dropping off suddenly or creating heavy surf.
Highly recommend it and hope to return again someday.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Mildred knew the area and was especially helpful and informative. This is a simple family hotel in a great location near the beach that is exactly as it presents itself. The pool is always clean.
The only thing I would suggest is to upgrade the towels and to provide good beach towels for the beach. It is unhelpful not to provide any beach towels for the guests. Where are they supposed to get them?

Our first dinner was excellent so we ate there again and it was just ok, the third dinner was not good at all. The staff was not really friendly. Carlos was the only one that really tried. Very clean hotel and comfortable but the staff just were not really friendly.

This hotel is much farther from the San Jose airport than what it advertises. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and there are no chairs or amenities directly on the beach, so if you're looking for bar service or the like, you won't get it. It was super humid and the air barely cooled the room off. The room was musty and had lots of bugs along with a flimsy door that could easily be broken into. Cab service to this hotel costs $120.00 US dollars each way from the airport. Mildred at the front desk was so helpful and attempted to make our stay more satisfying.

The staff was amazing-easily what made our stay memorable! The room itself needs a little updating (just outdated and needs a little love), but it was kept spotless.

Outdoor amenities (i.e. pool, spa, restaurant) were fantastic! Location and price point were also excellent. This hotel is located in a quiet, less travelled area, but is close enough to easily drive to both Jaco and Manuel Antonio. I would definitely be staying here again!

Gracious staff who accomadated us with an upgrade due to renovations near our room. We made a mistake on dates and thought we were staying another day. They kept us in our room with no problems. Referred us to Ocean Park zip line and rappelling which was fantastic. The food was delicious. The hotel is small with a lovely pool and all the amenities of a large hotel. We will definitely return.

Great for the beach, but that's about it.

A quiet location by the beach. Or should be! Unfortunately the sounds of the birds and the ocean were drowned out by the music played all day and evening in the empty bar/breakfast room. The pool looked ln need of a clean. Our room was very spacious but dark, would suggest painting the walls white may help. The bathroom light did not work and although reported was not investigated, as promised, so needed to use a torch. Did not dine at the restaurant so cannot review it.
