With the construction of our new restaurant, commercial kitchen, and two-story Mango Monkey Bar, Marala Hotel is the perfect location for weddings, banquets, and other small to medium sized functions. Based on our ideal location, between Jaco and Manuel Antonio, and only 2 hours from San Jose Airport, Marala Hotel offers a luxurious and accessible experience at a more affordable price than the competition.

This place is about 1hour and 45min from SJO and it was the perfect trip for a few days to visit nearby Parrita and Jaco. We wanted a quiet romantic bitoque hotel and it’s exactly what we got. We walked to the beach (about 10-15 min walk) and then relaxed by the pool. The property views were amazing! The room was clean and comfortable.

We really enjoyed our quiet stay at Marala. It was very clean, the room and bathroom were large and the entirety of the front of the resort offered amazing views. The restaurant and bar offered great selections! ALL the staff, front desk, waiters/waitresses, kitchen, housekeeping and bar tenders were kind and courteous. We would stay again!

THIS WAS THE NICEST DESIGN AND CLEANEST HOTEL. I HAVE EVER STAYED IN COSTA RICA. THE PEOPLE WERE MARVELOUS AND THE FOOD WAS GREAT. One of a kind property. It was a lovely room on the second floor with the hot-tub for two and the swing and dinette. The shower had great water pressure and monkeys would tap on the windows. The views were amazing. Lots of wildlife to watch all over the property. The food was fabulous. It is a short drive to many attractions and beaches. The pool was perfect.

This hotel is a piece of paradise…the grounds are beautiful and pristine. The food and drinks, top notch, rooms clean and comfortable …but it’s the people who work there that make it even more special. Everyone there was polite, professional and absolutely helpful…one in particular was Tina. She made our stay absolutely wonderful…from booking tours, procuring taxi rides…something as simple as providing us extra towels…because of her we will absolutely return to Costa Rica and book The Marala Hotel.

Constant Road Noise
The Marala is a lovely little hotel--almost a boutique hotel really--with good service, comfortable facilities, and good food. The problem is that there is constant road noise from the highway below including engine braking from semis. So whether eating dinner in the open-air restaurant, enjoying a drink at the bar, or lounging by the pool, excessive road noise is a constant accompaniment to one's stay. Jake brakes from semis forced us to cease conversation momentarily every time a truck passed by. As a result, I can't recommend this hotel nor will I be staying there again.

The staff was so kind and went above and beyond to make our stay so special. There is a troop of Capuchin monkeys that would come through the property at least once a day to eat fruit from the trees. They were great entertainment.
We got to visit a sister property for a day on the beach, called Marenaz Oceanfront Resort, which was lovely, with a nice pool, restaurant and bar.

We stayed 3 nights. One trash can only in the bathroom was for toilet paper since TP can't be flushed there. Water from the tap came and went. Never offered fresh towels. When we asked for fresh towels they said their dryer was out of service.

Since the hotel only has ten rooms and a couple of bungalows it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The staff knew our names and room number which made it a more personable experience. The view was amazing, the grounds were perfectly landscaped rooms were clean and the food was absolutely delicious. The price of the rooms and food were great. Oh and the location was right in the middle of two of the most popular watches in the area.

If possible try to stay on Friday for the soulful band. The view was great and the rooms were peaceful. The beds were very comfortable. We saw Macaws from the balcony of our very large room, and monkeys every day at about 4 pm. Enjoy. We would definately go back.

We saw the resort on our way south. It looked interesting so we checked it out online. We drove back to the and booked one of the last available room. The whole resort has been expanded and renovated. It has an infinity pool overlooking the ocean with a full-service poolside bar. The restaurant serves a wide variety of food with an excellent selection of seafood. Dinner is served inside with excellent views or on an elevated deck designed to take full advantage of the sunset. Service was enthusiastic and professional. We couldn't be happier with our choice.
