Beautiful location, friendly staff, and beach front property. The cottage is located in a much quieter town of Parrita, which is 1 hour north of Manuel Antonio NP and Quepos area. We loved how peaceful and away from the big tourists area this place is. There's a restaurant and bar in the property which is a nice option. Breakfast is included which a good plus. The pool is heated and a pretty good size for lap swim. We really liked this hotel but there are two negative factors and that's why i rated it a 3 star. First, there's a strong musty smell in our cabin. It's the type of smell that permeates that whole room and it stuck to our luggage and all our clothing materials even after washing them. I believe the smell is coming from the humidity, rain, and all the moisture from the ocean. It's simply stuck in the old wood structure and no amount of air freshener can cover it. The other issue we had are the dogs in the area. They tend to bark and howl past midnight and can be quite disturbing. i suffer from insomnia and being woken up in the middle of the night pretty much kills my whole sleep cycle. We ended up leaving much earlier than we had booked.

Overall, our cabin was clean but it could use a lot of TLC and maintenance. The fridge in our room was very small, old, and had rusty grate. The furniture were quite old.

We had a great time!

My family and I had an amazing time at Encantada. The place was so quaint and cozy and we felt very welcomed. My kids loved the pool and the easy beach access. They also loved the 2 resident cats on the property. Our meals were some of the best we've had in Costa Rica, especially the whole fried red snapper at dinner time. Would definitely come back!

The BEST place I ever stayed (and I’ve traveled a lot). Close to Quepos/Jaco and not far from Manuel Antonio. The food was great, the customer service was excellent, the cottages super cute and beds very comfortable. The pool right outside our cottage and the ocean always in view with outdoor beds and hammocks = dream spot! Yoga was awesome. I will recommend Encantada to all. It is an oasis and was exactly the vibe we were looking for!

Transportation offsite for exploration is hard as well as pricey especially if traveling solo. Other than that everything was wonderful.

Amazing Energy

This space is absolutely wonderful. We had an amazing time at this beachfront resort.
We stayed in a poolside cabin. The bed was the most comfortable of my 4 different locations this trip. It was well appointed with extra pillows, speakers, lamps, outdoor sink and a close line. The AC worked great and was much needed.
We enjoyed the salt water pool, the drop in yoga sessions lasting 1.5 hrs and all of the ocean front seating/lounging options.
Their chef is amazing! All of the food was top notch, no matter what time of day. Even if you are not a guest here, I would take the time to eat at this restaurant.
They have live music on Thursdays from 4-6 with a discounted happy hour. Some local artists set up the wares to shop as well.
Communication was excellent both pre-stay and during. They were extremely helpful with directing and assisting us to local tours and setting up our own private driver, Andrea.
The black sand beach is beautiful, not crowed and stretches forever. Sunset is a must. During the day that sand is blistering hot, wear flops or run for the water line.
Tiffany works really hard to ensure her guests are comfortable, have their needs met, all while directing the beehive of cleanliness and service. Everyone's energy here is very special. They feel like a lovely family and not just staff working a job, EVERYONE!
I would recommend this space to anyone, especially those not interested in the hubbub of Jaco.

We are a family of 4 and we got the room right in front of the pool. Room is clean and the pool is just a few steps away from our room. My teenager daughters love it. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent! The beach is just right in front of the hotel. In the late afternoon, you can see the thick clouds and storm coming in. I would strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a quaint and safe beach town.

Very nice ocean front cottage. Facility is well kept throughout. Room is clean and has personal touch. Entire facility is not big so ocean is really steps away from all rooms. We walked on beach in Early morning, breakfast and I did Yoga and kids did surf lesson. We only stayed 2 nights but could definitely stay longer. We will come back. Thank you for the hostility.

Stay here! Our family of 5 had a dreamy time during our stay. It is a small resort with only 6 or 7 cottages— which means no crowding and lots of personal touches. It is truly on the beach and everything we hoped for. We participated in the beach yoga and surf lessons. The on-site restaurant was fresh and delicious. So many times it felt like we had the beach completely to ourselves. Stay here— you’ll be glad you did!

We LOVED our stay at this secluded gem. It is situated on a gorgeous beach with almost nobody else in sight. The villa was very well designed, with very comfortable beds. The staff were amazing and added a very personal touch. The food menu was fairly limited in size as there aren’t many guests but the food was all delicious. I tried food at the nearby resort which was supposed to be stand out, and actually preferred Encantada. The yoga classes with Christina really stood out as the highlight of the trip, but we also enjoyed surf lessons with the local surf instructor.
The only downside (or upside, depending on your perspective) was that WiFi did not reach inside our villa. This place was perfect!!!

I was blown away by everything at Encantada Ocean Cottages. The rooms were large and cleaned every day, the food was incredible and the included breakfasts were better than I could have imagined. The location and overall property has everything you could possible want and is extremely well kept. My absolute favorite part however, was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and happy to help or just chat at any time - and I mean everyone. From the groundskeeper Ruje, to the surf instructors Alfredo, Anthony, and Christopher, to the chef Gerald and his staff, to the yoga instructor Christina, the security guard Victor and the day time managers Shirley and Ricky, the owners Tiffany and her husband, and the bar tenders/hosts/waiters/doers of everything Daniel and Roger - my hats off to everyone working at this fine establishment. They made my first trip to Costa Rica unbelievable and I will return to just stay at these cottages with these great people. You will not regret your stay at Encantada.

Cozy place, with the perfect beach access.

Encantada is a great little place for a cozy, private, or romantic getaway. They have a great little cottages to stay in, and a small pool that is open 24/7. Everything was kept very clean, and the included breakfast was delicious; with several different options.
The restaurant there doesn't have a plethora of options, but the meals we ate there were delicious and filling. The staff was all very friendly and gave great advice for trips to do, calling taxi's, and getting us deals for all of that. The cottages we're a little smaller than what I expected, and the bathrooms a little tight. But if you don't mind the close quarters, they work great! For whatever reason our hot shower didn't work, but I'm sure they would have fixed it right away had we mentioned it to them.

If I ever make it back to Costa Rica, I would love to stay at this cottages again!

Relax and nice secluded 7 cabanas cottage by the ocean. You have to drive an unpaved road to get to this location. Cabanas are nice but metal roof gets very hot during the day and ours was leaking when raining. All were friendly staff but the managar never said hello or nothing to us. Overall good tropical location worth for a low price.

Best place in Costa Rica to relax by the Ocean

We had a fantastic stay at Encantada. The staff is amazing!!! Kate, Adam, Daniel and the rest of the crew were so friendly, nice and helpful. The rooms were comfy and right on the beach. You can walk the beach for miles. The food was WONDERFUL!!! Try the banana pancakes! The reviews that were not very positive on Tripadvisor are from years ago and I believe with a different owner. We stayed at 6 different hotels during our visit to Costa Rica because we wanted to experience the entire country. Encantada was by far our favorite place to stay. It is not close to many restaurants or nightlife. It is a 20 min cab ride to Manual Antonio Park - which is really fun and you see lots of monkeys, sloths, and they have a beach to swim in. It is also a short cab ride into Jaco, the \"big city\" of the area if yo want nightlife. Overall, if you are looking for a relaxing, clean, local kind of place to chill, do some yoga, and enjoy the beach this is the place.

Amazing beach front hotel

This place is a gem! It's tucked away about 30 min from Jaco on a private beach. The place is beautiful. The cottages have some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on and are absolutely adorable. The staff is beyond amazing. Everyone is extremely friendly and willing to help. One day we wanted coconuts and the surf instructor Roger climbed up a tree to get us some. We had dinner there our last night and it was delicious and breakfast every morning. They would have our table set ready for us. If I could give this place a 10 I would. If you're traveling to relax and disconnect this is the place. Can't wait to go back.

Perfect Quiet Beach Get Away!!

Excellent little \"boutique \" hotel on the beach. SO, SO relaxing: excellent staff, wonderful food, very comfortable and tastefully decorated cottages, great yoga and perfect beach. If you need some relaxing down time, it is the ideal place to hide out. We were very content just parking the car and staying put!! Thank you, we shall return - great find!!!

Very nice, quiet retreat. Cabins were quaint but sufficient. Pool was excellent. Grounds were in excellent shape. Menu was a little limited but everything was very tasty. The beach was fantastic! Long and flat with no rocks, fine sand, and almost nobody for miles! The surf was quite strong so it is more of a surfing beach than a swimming beach but for strong swimmers, it is excellent for both. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a quiet, retreat type getaway, this is definitely the place! Easy access to both Jaco and Quepos if you need the night life but we were looking to get away.

This hotel is tucked away with a very quiet beach. Nice distance away from the big city Jaco or the national park. Super soft black sand and decent surf is great! A lot of family games such as volleyball, soccer, boogies boards and surfing available.

This small resort has individual cabins for guests. Everything was immaculate. The owners and staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. There is a nice small pool, a small outside dining area, hammocks galore and just a step to a beautiful beach. The food was good--fresh fruit every morning. I had a fresh tuna steak one night that was prepared perfectly. The menu is small so needs supplemented sometimes with variety. I loved the banana pancakes! Our ONLY complaint was that the neighbors had many dogs that they allowed to make a great deal of noise one night.

The room was clean and very well decorated. The dinner was fantastic. The chef would grill your meal right infront of you. The owners were there and made sure we got directions to places we needed to go (as Costa Rica roads, have literally no signs) and arranged for activities with the local guides there were a good 30% lower than advertised prices.

Great Place if staying in Esterillos area.

Relative to the Esterillos area, this would be my top choice to stay. Very nice place, great pool, great, staff, great location. Other places were not as nice or did not have that Costa Rica look and feel to them. They seemed more like a hotel, resort, or compound. Encantada has very cozy cottages with beautiful grounds, rooms, etc... and is on the beach. The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. While I have not stayed anywhere else in this part of Costa Rica, I did travel the area fairly extensively. If your looking for a nice quite, romantic, traditional Costa Rica stay, from Esterillos Oste to Bejuco, Encantada would be my top choice/recommendation.

Wonderful cottages on beach; very friendly staff.

This was a VERY nice hotel for the price! Every member of the staff made it feel like home, including the owners. My young daughter was especially fond of their dog, Dime. The food was delicious and so fresh-best banana pancakes I've eaten. And how can you beat being right on the beach? We took a stroll every morning.
The cottages were beautifully decorated and had a separate loft for our daughter to sleep in. She loved it.

Room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable we had a great nights sleep. We were able to relax and not have to drive anywhere if we chose not to. The staff was great and helped with anything and everything. The food and chef were amazing so flavorful and delicious! They also had available surf lessons, yoga, and plenty of hammocks to relax! A Tropical Paradise!

If you are planning a trip to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, I would highly recommend including Encantata cottages in your visit. We had a cottage adjacent to the pool and office/dining area. The décor was lovely and we had a private patio looking over the pool where we could enjoy morning coffee and star-gazing in the evening. The staff was friendly and efficient and Erik the manager, was especially attentive to all details making us feel very special. The food, most of which was prepared on an open fire, was also excellent and included typical Costa Rican dishes.

If you enjoy surfing (lessons are available) or long walks on the beach this is an amazing location as you are just steps from the ocean. Yoga classes in an open air studio close to the beach, were also available on certain days. Be cautious if you plan to swim or have young children as there is a very strong rip tide.

The only downside to Encantata is there is not a lot going on in Esteriollos, however, if you are looking for a relaxing getaway or a great surf beach this is definitely the place for you.

Fantastic beach front cozy place! Like paradise!

We loved our stay here! The cottages had great beds and pillows. The property is very cute and has everything you need for a great vacation. You can rent surf boards, boogie boards, bikes, everything right on property. Has great pool open late, best continental breakfast of any of the 4 hotels we stayed in while in Costa Rica. Hammocks, beach chairs, great views. Wifi and laundry services if you need them.

If you're used to traveling and staying at the Four Seasons this is not your place. If you like a quaint little hotel with a So Cal surfer feel you will love this place. We stayed in one of the cabana's which was comfortable and clean although the bathroom is a bit tight and the very comfortable king size bed sits on pallets which if you're not careful you can stub your toe. Make sure you make time to eat at the restaurant, the food is as delicious as it is pleasing to the eye. The staff is very friendly and helpful. English is spoken here.
